Using all 3 analog jacks for stereo output on xfi extreme aud

Hi guys, hoping you can help. I know that you can hook up two devices and use a 4. configuration with stereo surround but is it possible to have 3 devices hooked up (sixphonic instead of quadraphonic...does that make sense?). I have jack to my headphone amp, jack 2 going to my computer speakers and was hoping that jack 3 could be used for speakers in another room.
cheers,?

I don't know the card you have there but normally by setting
- speaker mode to 6. and
- CMSS to stereo surround
should do the job --> all stereo pairs outputs the same audio as stereo then. Check from the User's Guide of your card, if you need some special jackplugs there.
It's even possible to stream audio from two or three separate playback software to separate output channels by using ASIO and WDM/KS capable playback software in combination + above mentioned settings.
AFAIK, your card does not supportASIO nati'vely so your only choice is to use WDM/KS but, as there aren't audio player that suppors WDM/KS as needed (Foobar, Winamp, MediaMonkey as for an example supports WDM/KS through output plugins but there's no channel mapping available). By using ASIO4ALL, you might want to try this but unfortunately, you need to find two or three nati'vely ASIO capable software for playback (some players may allow you to run multiple copies as separate players.
Nati've Instruments BeatPort Player (maybe not available anymore) and SYNC can be used,
Foobar 0.9.x -> supports ASIO channel mapping but, I don't know if this mapping works just as neded like it does on those nativly ASIO capable software.

You cannot partition a TC disk.
See pondini about mixing data and backups.. but remember this.. the TC has no way to back itself up and TM cannot backup files on the TC. Anything not backed up on the TC will be lost at some future point.

  • Anyone else getting a message that they have almost used all of their data for the month?

We just got a message saying that we have used 90% of our data for the month and we are only 10 days into the billing cycle. I looked at our account on line and it says that we aren't even close to using our total data for the month. When does all of the stupid stuff stop? When I switched to Verizon 10 years ago, they were great. Great customer service, great plans, etc. Now that has gone away. The 4G service is an absolute joke. Where I used to have great service, there literally is none, and the phone won't even switch to 3G if it is in a bad area. I travel through a major city every day and I am amazed at how crappy the service is.
Now I'm getting messages that aren't even correct??? I have a lot of lines on my account and I don't want to go elsewhere, especially since I live in the country and Verizon is the only way to get decent internet service, but this is getting rediculous. I guess listening to the customers doesn't matter anymore as long as they get their money.

        Hi GeoffPrice
I'm sorry to hear your getting alerts that are incorrect. Let's get to the bottom of this. What zip code are you in? Are any other devices having the same issue on your account?

  • How do I use a daq analog input value to output a voltage based on if/then statements?

I am the first one here to start using labview and am not familiar with any of it. I am pressed for time and need simple solutions to accquire two analog signals from turbidimeters in volts and use them to turn an alum pump on or off in order to automate a pilot water treatment plant. If someone could correspond with me via email or instant messaging, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. I recognize the power of labview but have been tinkering with it for a week now and have no luck producing results. I do not know if there is already a VI out there that does this, but that would be a tremendous help. Again, someone to correspond with would be the ideal solution.
    Thank
    s,
    Jack

Basically the job isn't very difficult. All you have to do is use the built-in comparison fucntions to generate a logic level based on the value of the meter output. This boolean value (a green wire on the diagram) can drive the selector input of a case structure. In the case structure you put the code to turn the pump on or off as needed.
Contact me directly at [email protected] and I can give you more details if you need them or have more questions.

  • Don't Want Dolby Digital For Stereo Outputs

Hi, all.  Although FCP X won't natively see the 5.1 tracks of a Sony CX560, it does get the stereo version.  That stereo version seems to be a Dolby Pro Logic mixdown of the 5.1 recording though and plays nicely in surround when decoded with Pro Logic.  This of course doesn't happen when that stereo mix is encoded as Dolby Digital because when a stereo Dodby Digital bitstream is decoded, it will only play through the left/right speakers.  Unlike some other applications, FCP seems to ouput everything only as Dolby Digital, regardless of if it is surround or stereo.  So my stereo "Pro Logic" recordings are only playing out the left/right speakers.  Is there a way for FCP X to not output stereo mixes as Dolby Digital?  Or if I buy Compressor, will I have that control?  Thanks.

For those who care about this, it appears you can't change how the audio is exported when exported to an Apple TV device.  FCP X will export audio as both an AAC stereo track and as an AC3 Dolby Digital track.  If you're trying to accomplish what I wanted to do though, and easy option is to open the exported file in QuickTime Pro 7, open Show Movie Properties, select the AC3 track, delete it and save the file.  This worked perfectly and was very easy to do.  As for the secondary Compressor question, if I decide to, I'll ask that in the other forum.

  • Using an Air Port Express for stereo

Hi, my Air Port Extreme Base Station recently broke. It was the old flying saucer model. I also have an old Air Port Express in another room connected to my stereo. Do I have to get a new Air Port Extreme base station to connect to my Express for the wireless speakers, or can I just get a cheaper Linksys "N" router? So to sum up, will a linksys wireless N router connect to my older Air Port Express? Thanks.

Your older AirPort Express (AX) should be able to join the Linksys wireless network, but since the AX is a "b/g" device, you will need to configure the Linksys to broadcast a "g" compatible signal so the AX can connect.

  • Distortion workaround: can chip swap using line out jack for rear out ja

I am using a SB Audigy EAX. My headphones sound like a blown speaker mostly out of left ear. I tryed everything including reinstalling xp on my dell and nothing worked [yes I tried other headphones to no avail]. Finally I played around with the balance and realised that the left and right channels were leaking together slightly so I think there is a physical problem on the card. As a temp solution I have set my card to use four speakers and plugged my headphones into the rear out which is a different jack on the card. It sounds fine from the rear out jack but I wish there was a way to have the card use the rear out jack for line out output. In other words is there a program or driver that can tell the chip to swap line out jack for rear out jack? My card is no longer under warranty and I only ever use heaphones. The problem with my temp solution is that some winamp plugins and games don't function properly.

For analog 5. it should work. See the user's guide.

  • How to extract error message for each output type.

    Hi All,
Need your advice on the problem that I have.
    Expected Solution:
    1. Create an extra column for displaying header output error message from VF02 into a report program.
    Steps that i have did:
    1. Go to transaction VF02.
    2. Enter a billing document number.
    3. Hit enter. Click "Goto" > Header> Output
    4. Click on the status that is red colour. Click on "processing log".
    5. Press "F1" on the red colour message type. (Found out that it is a structure).
Need your advice on the question that I have:
    1) How do we know that which "not successfully" process output type belong to which error message class?

    Hi Brad Bohn,
Thanks for your advice. I am so sorry about that. Thanks so much for your advice. And i have follow your advices and steps given by you. Appreciate it very much.
But for this issue about how to extract message for each output type. I have follow your steps by using SE30 to trace VF03 and I managed to found out that they are using this function module "WFMC_PROTOCOL_SHOW". Need your advice on this, how do we know each different output type with different error message is pulled from?
From my further research and in depth debugging into this function module, i  manage to find this global internal table "PROTO_TAB" which stores all the text messages for each output.  How does this internal table is populated?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Optimizing: Use all 8 cores

Hi, I have an early 2008 Mac Pro with 2 quad core 2.8GHz. When ever I run simulations(around 10,000) in Excel 2004 or when I'm running a program in Matlab it takes a long time, (longer than an old Dell with a Pentium 3 1.8GHz). When I open up the activity monitor it shows that it is only using 12% of the CPU and the other 88% is just sitting idle. I was wondering if there is a way to tell the computer to use all of the CPU for a specific task or if it needs to be done in the program.
Thanks in advance for your help.(I'm not sure if this is in the correct place in the forum. Sorry if it is.)

Intel brings thread optimisation tool to OpenSolaris
By James Niccolai, IDG News Service
Developers who use C++ and Sun's OpenSolaris OS are to be offered a new tool. Intel said that Threading Building Blocks was aimed at reducing the amount of coding that C++ developers have to do to take advantage of the extra computing power in multicore chips.
C++ isn't designed in a way that takes advantage of multiple cores naturally, so application performance won't scale proportionally as additional cores are added. Threading Building Blocks aims to address that.
It is already offered for Windows, Linux, the Mac OS and FreeBSD and it's now available for OpenSolaris, said Doug Fisher, general manager of Intel's Systems Software Division
    http://www.techworld.com/applications/news/index.cfm?newsID=101454
Intel released new compilers last fall with the advent of the Penryn to help generate better optimizations for multi-core chips for use on OS X and other platforms.
Still early on in the multi-core systems, though I think Apple has been on top of the ball, applications do need to be recomiled or even moved to new code base.
CS4 is suppose to come out in 64-bit version for Vista while the OS X version will take longer and wait for CS5.
And the OS can do some of the work at times to help scheduling. But there are times when moving code and data between cores can be ineffecient and lead to "core" or "thread" thrashing which is why you see much larger L3 caches in some systems to take up the latency penalty.
Taming the front side bus, moving to direct connect, embedded memory controller, and also, "Penryn" is two dual-core cpus in a package, while the next generation will be a true native quad-core, the Penryn chip is still more efficient clock for clock over its predecessor Xeon used in 2007 Mac Pro.

  • Can not use all these apps

Creative Cloud is a terrific service, but, I can't use all these apps because I either don't need or want them, or, I can't understand how to do things with them. The only app I am able to make any use of is the Premiere program with Encoder and Encore.
Is it possible to subscribe only to Premiere for a much reduced monthly payment ??????
    steve
    www.homemovies.ca

Actually, I was just doing some simple math.
SO - what happens if I drop to just the one PP CS6 app – or cancel the service now and switch to upgrade instead ? Do I have to pay some sort of cancellation fee ?
Re: the simple math I just worked out:
Let's see, full Cloud access to all 17 apps $ 34.64  including taxes and exchange rate - number of apps 17 - only 1 of which I vaguely understand how to use and want
for a total cost this first year's subscription of $ 415.44 - which then doubles for the 2nd year.
    Arguably ---   $ 34.64 divided by 17 =  $ 2.04 per app
but apparently I would have to pay about $ 23.08 for just the one premiere pro CS6 app ?
That's $ 276.96 for the 1st year, then the 2nd year doubles in cost from that.
I can upgrade from PP CS5.5 to PP CS6 for $ 172.06 and save a tonne of money I don't have.
Ok - Creative Cloud does NOT work for me -- the way they price it --- really really really really really really really really really really really sucks
The Creative Cloud services would be terrific IF I could understand and use all those apps, but, for just the one and only app I can vaguely understand and use - the cost really sucks.
but i gotta give them credit for figuring all that out so they're the big winners no matter what we do nor how bad their programs are.

  • Analog Audio Output Jack for Digital Speakers with same jack configuration

I just purchased my first Mac, a Mac Pro. I can't get sound to my speakers using the analog out jack. With my old PC, there was a setting for "digital output" even though the digital speakers were attached via to the same style jack as the Mac's analog out jack. I've tried going to preferences but don't see a like setting for digital output. Is there a setting to do so and if not, is there an adapter to convert the Mac's digital audio out to the analog jack style?

Do you want digital or analog? Your question seems to imply that you have speakers that accept a digital signal but you also say you want analog...??
Anyway, my Mac Pro (2006 model) has separate analog and optical digital outputs on the back. The pictures on the apple website still show the same thing on the Mac Pro so I'm guessing it's the same. I think only the Mac laptops have the analog/optical digital combo jacks...
The optical digital outputs are the little white squarish ports beneath the rear firewire ports.
The MacPro does not have a SPDIF RCA style output. Maybe that is what you are thinking of from the windoze pc...
You should be able to enable the rear analog line output or the digital outputs from the System Preferences > Sound > Output screen. The front headphone outputs kind of act weird in that they disable the rear line output (if I remember correctly, I never use the front port...).

  • Optical/Analog Splitter for Dual Audio Output

Does anyone know if the mini-TOSlink combo jack can simultaneously output both digital and analog signals? If so, has anyone seen a splitter that would let you take advantage of this? I need both output formats to feed into my multi-zone stereo receiver.

I am currently trying to find a solution to what is I think the same problem (receiver only routes analog signals to the additional zones). I haven't been able to find such a cable and have considered these to connect to my multi-zone receiver:
    1) I have an old sound usb soundblaster extigy. I have used it in the past as a cheap d/a convertor of sorts as it has both digital input and outputs and works without being hooked up to a computer. If I feed it the airtunes digital signal it outputs simultaneously optical and analog to the receiver. The problem is that the soundblaster does add processing to the signal (volume control and mixing of its other inputs) so although it does sound clean, it almost defeats the purpose of the digital connection. This adds another unit and may not be ideal for you as you would have to buy such a card. Separate D/A convertors would also work but would add even more cost
    2) I have considered taking my airtunes apart and tapping into the audio output and adding a second analog output. My warranty is already up but I am afraid the case of the airtunes cannot be opened without it breaking. This option does not fix the same audio distribution problem when I hook up my laptop.
I thought the integrated digital outputs on my macs and airtunes were ingenious till I ran into this problem with my new receiver. Too bad the receiver doesn't have a couple more D/As to route digital signals. With the number in there already for 7.1 channel audio I feel this shouldn't be a problem at least when listening to stereo digital signals.
Sorry for the long post, I will keep looking for a better solution, please post if you do as well!

  • What audio interfaces for iPad are there that give stereo outputs?

I've had persons tell me that an iPad is not good to use as you would a computer in DJing because it can't do split stereo outputs. I was thinking that perhaps an audio interface that connects through the dock might fix that. Can anyone give me a list of such interfaces?

    DJ Arctic wrote:
From what I understand, most headphone splitters (like the Griffin DJ Cable) split the stereo track into two mono tracksone for pre-cueing, one for what the audience hears.
Note that the Griffin DJ Cable does not fall into the same category as "most headphone splitters". It is made specifically with a stereo/mono output for the algoriddim djay app.
This is one of the mono output cables you would need to specifically hunt down.
    DJ Arctic wrote:
If you know of a headphone splitter that doesn't do that, but gives two stereo channels, I'd be glad to take a look at it.
All of these are single stereo to double stereo outputs -> Headphone splitters
Ask for a headphone splitter in just about any store (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, 7-11) and you'll get what you want.

  • How do I use an Edge Animate project with SVG files in InDesign for DPS output?

Is there any way to include an Edge Animate web content using .svg files in InDesign for output to DPS?
Edge Animate works great with InDesign, except for when you're using SVG files. I've worked with SVG files on the web successfully (writing .htaccess files and such), but it seems like InDesign doesn't like them.
This is pretty important because I don't want to have to design multiple renditions on the DPS suite. Currently I have it setup as a PDF format (DPS) and that scales all of the vector-based type perfectly. It would be wonderful if the animations could also be in a vector format so that when the iPad (3) users see the designs, they will scale naturally through the PDF framework.
    Any advice would be invaluable.
    Thanks!

    moved to the DPS forum....
