Using an AIR-LAP 1024N as a TEST AP

Hi,
as the subjects states I would like to use the abovementioned AP as a test AP for wireless surveys. I want to do this without the need for using a switch to stop the unit rebooting.
I believe that I need to enable thick mode? or would that be Autonomous mode - which would require me to change from LWAPP - IOS?
What is the best way for me to configure the AP so that it broadcasts the given SSID and not continually reboot?
Thanks in Advance
Jez

Could you please let me know the script for enabling Autonomous mode?
I followed your instructions here
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2060925
But found that I got some errors on some of the lines below
               Ap(config)#int fa 0
Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
Ap(config-if)ip address
AP44d3.cab0.7ad3(config)#no shut
Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
Thanks in advance
Jez

  • AIR-LAP-1142N-E-K9 unexpected power offs

Hi we have two seperate Cisco wireless networks both based around the same infrastructure.
Cisco 5508 WLC/s running 7.4.100 Firmware in our datacentre, with AIR-LAP-1142N-E-K9 LAPS distributed at site offices.
This infrastructure has been running well until recently when we have had a spate of the LAPS appearing to power off.
The LAP appears to be off with no LED status light as if it has been powered off, but the power supplies are still connected and the LAPS are often warm to the touch as if drawing power even when they have been "off" for a couple of days.
Unplugging the power supply (at the LAP) and re-applying brings the LAP back on.
The LAPS involved all used the recommended Cisco manufactured power supplies as there was no POE/power injector infrastructure.
The LAPS vanish from the WLC as if disconnected, without any apparent errors in the WLC logs.
There are no crash logs for the LAPS which have powered off.
Console output from a LAP which has powered off on startup just shows the AP coming back from a "cold start".
LAPS operate normally after restart, but after avariable period, typically 2-7 days will power off again.
This is happening across multiple sites, to LAPS connected to different WLCs.
Has anyone seen this issue before?

The LAP appears to be off with no LED status light as if it has been powered off, but the power supplies are still connected and the LAPS are often warm to the touch as if drawing power even when they have been "off" for a couple of days.
    Gareth,
Just want to make sure you are using a power brick/power injector.  Can you please confirm?
Had issues with 7.4 when I noticed that some of my APs, running in PoE, would suddenly get "lost".  They would suddenly reboot and they wouldn't negotiate PoE properly.  I had to manually shut down the ports for at least 5 seconds.  If I don't leave it off for that long the APs simply won't boot up.
Ever since I've moved to 7.5, I haven't seen this happen.
There is a well-known bug, can't seem to find it, about 1140 and WLC firmware 7.4.  If I remembered correctly, the bug describes what you are seeing.
You may want investigate in using 7.5.

  • Native Installer works with Net Use, but AIR File does not.

I'm building an AIR application that runs a "net use" command in windows 7.
Strangely, the installer type appears to impact run permissions:
+ Export release build to "Native Installer" -> "Net Use" works and I see all my test alert boxes.
+ Export release build to "AIR File" --> animations run and the app is responsive, but I don't see any of my alert boxes and the "Net Use" command shows no sign of running.

    Update - partial resolution:
Apparently you have to use a Native Install to use native functionality (don't know why this includes Alert Boxes).
I just found this bit on Adobe's web site:
Packaging an AIR application in a native installer
              http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS789ea67d3e73a8b22388411123785d839c-8000.html
Adobe, please work to address this.  I'd like to release cross-compatible code and this creates a situation where the user has to choose a different installer based on their platform.  Minor, but annoying when an AIR file works for both in other instances.
It would also be nice to get some sort of error message.  I had no idea why things weren't working (even my Alert boxes were being swallowed).

  • I want to use asus air charger to charge my ipad 4 with my computer. does this software harm my ipad battery?

Hi , I want to use asus air charger to charge my ipad 4 with my computer. does this software harm my ipad battery? can I use it? thanks

Look at this description and review. http://asus-ai-charger.en.softonic.com/
The app is free, So it won't cost to try. The iPad 4 comes with a 12W wall charger. Most computer USB ports output only 2.5W, so even if you get a 50% increase, it will still take a long time to charge your iPad.
Bottom line - Use the wall charger.
    Here's some battery/charging info.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • How to convert keystore (from native android project) to .p12 to use with AIR project?

Due to the advancements with adobe AIR, I'm really excited to be finishing up a HUGE update of an old project that was originally made with native android.
But, i've hit a brick wall with 2 issues, and it would be terrible if all the work i've done in AIR was for nothing...
First, how do I convert the keystore I previously used (from native android project) to .p12 to use with AIR project? (on a mac)
Second, how do I remove the "air." that gets automatically appended onto the front my android package name? I plan to use a captive runtime, so it's not really needed at all, and I can't upload it like this as an update because it will think it's a different app.
Please help so I can continue using air for all my projects from now on!

    Thanks for the reply!
So I'm going through this guide..
    http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/opt-out-air-application-analytics.html
I followed all the steps, made all the adjustments to the androidmanifest.xml like it asks.
But when i get to the stap that says
"Run the following command to create the resource file for the updated AndroidManifest.xml:"
    I run this..
        "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools/aapt" package -f -M AndroidManifest.xml -F resources.arsc -I "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platforms/android-8/android.jar" -S ./res
But I keep getting the same error
./res/layout/expandable_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
./res/layout/expandable_multiple_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
./res/layout/main.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
./res/layout/multiple_file_selection_panel.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
./res/layout/ssl_certificate_warning.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
The guide doesn't say anything about these xml files, and im not sure what to do with these ore how to handle them.
If i go into the res/layout folder, and just delete these (i know theyre for my layout and i need them, but im just saying i deleted them for the sake of a test)
I was able to get through the rest of the steps in the guide fine, make an apk, and put it on my phone...only to find out the app will crash the moment you try to run it.
So my question is, does anyone with any experience re-packaging an android application know how I might get around this or take care of the errors with the xml files in the layout folder?
    Thanks!!
EDIT to note something i've tried:
So, earlier in the guide they have me use thing thing called the "AXMLPrinter2.jar" to make the AndroidManifest.xml readable so i can edit it.
    I run something like this:
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" AndroidManifest.xml > AndroidManifest.xml.bk
This makes a new file "AndroidManifest.xml.bk" and i can edit that.
So, I was thinking with all of these layout xml files, maybe I could run this "AXMLPrinter2.jar" on them and then edit them. Because right now if you open them they're not human readable, and its hard for me to work on them if they're not...
But when i do the same command I did on the AndroidManifest.xml i just get blank files...
    I tried
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" main.xml > main.xml.bk
    Just get a blank file.
So, i think the issue might be with these just not being re-formatted to human readable.

  • AIR-LAP 1231G-A-K9

       I have a couple of questions: I have a 161 AP,s most of which are AIR-LAP 1231G-A-K9 two 4400 WLC.
Some of these APs are using  AIR-ANT 1728 (2.4 GHz omidirectional 5.2 dBi)  and Mobile Mark OD9-240 (2-GHz omnidirectional  9 dBi) on the same access points. Some of my AP are PoE and some are using a power supply (at the AP) some are using both. Power level is set at 2 a radios are not enabled just the bg radios. I'm having issues: I need to tweak the APs (Power settings & Channel settings) so my clients (LXE VX6) can refresh faster.
    Any suggestions?
PS I did'nt set this up. It was handed to me.

All of the enabled APs have thier A radios disabled.
1231 don't have 802.11a radios.  You are using two type of antennaes (5 dBi and 9 dBi) in the SAME UNIT.
The only way to determine if you have proper signal is to walk around with a laptop and sniff out the signal.  If you have signal strength of about 65 to 75 dBi then this is good.  If your signal being received by the laptop is higher than 80 dBi then this is one of your problems.
Please check if all the data rates for 802.11b and 802.11g are enabled.
You may want to propose to management to upgrade your WAPs as they are old.  If they want something cheap (supports only 802.11 a/b/g) and with external antennas then 1240 is your option.  If you want internal antenna 1130 is still in the market.
If management want internal antenna and support 802.11 a/b/g/n then the cheapest model is the 1040.  The 1260 will support 802.11 a/b/g/n and requires antennas.

  • My family uses a single lap-top as our main internet connection and when we synch our respective I-pods, our I-tunes account seems to wipe-out our playlists, even though we have tried to create separate I-tune accounts.  Help!!

My family uses a single lap-top as our home computer and several of us have i-pods that we like to synch, using I-tunes.  Although we've tried to create separate I-tune accounts, our i-tunes playlists are getting wiped out when one of us deletes songs on our I-pod and it seems as though I-tunes is not distinguishing our distinct accounts and all i-pods are being synched to reflect the latest i-pod anyone makes on their respective account.  It appears as though our distinct I-tune accounts are not being loaded on our lap-top when we sign in and unfortunately, when we're in I-tunes, there is nothing to indicate what account is on the screen.  For all the glowing appraisals apple-related products usually receive, we are finding i-tunes and its interface with our respective i-pods to be a very, very frustrating experience.
Can anyone shed some light on this for a family of non-techies?  Thx
    Pegger64

You need to create separate Windows user accounts if you want to seperate the behaviour of iTunes for each user. That also means separate iTunes libraries for each user.
Windows is a multi-user operating system but you are not using it properly. iTunes is not a multi-user application. No application is. You can't expect it to treat different users differently when they are all using the same computer user account.
Do you understand what I mean?

  • What's the best way to mix AIR 14 and the Flex 3.5 SDK and use new AIR features?

I am returning to development of a popular desktop AIR app, after about 4 years of no code changes. Both AIR and Flex have actively moved forward during my coding absence, and it is time to play catch up.
When last built, the app was using Flex 3.5 and AIR 2.6.
End Goal - I want my app to look good on high density displays
I'd like to keep Flex version at 3.5, but use the newer version of AIR, to render more clearly on high density displays (Retina on OSX and hiDPI on Win8).
The pixel doubling performed by the "compatibility" modes of OSX.Retina or Win8.hiDPI make my app look pretty gross, and the customer base is starting to complain.
While I may eventually switch over to the Apache Flex SDK to bring the application design into the current state, my customer base just doesn't care right now. They like the current app, but want it to work, out-of-the-box, on high density displays.
So I need to limit my scope to changing only the AIR SDK, not the Flex SDK at this time.
    Step 1 - Overlaying AIR14 SDK on Flex 3.5
I followed the official generic overlay instructions here, and that worked well enough. I named my hybrid SDK folder "3.5.0.AIR14". I have been able to recompile, run, and verify my app using the hybrid SDK. (my app is compiled and packaged from an ant script, using the Antennae framework. I had already switch SDKs a number of times over the initial course of development, so pointing my project to a new SDK was pretty simple enough.
    Step 2 - Updating the app.xml descriptor
This part was also easy. I used the templates\air\descriptor-template.xml as a starting point, customizing the name, app id, and folders. Now my app descriptor is correctly based on the <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/14.0"> namespace.
    Step 3 - Enabling Retina/hiDPI support - Help??
I added <requestedDisplayResolution>high</requestedDisplayResolution> to the <initialWindow> tag of the app descriptor, but that made no difference. The app compiles, installs, and runs, but pixel doubling is still occurring and the app looks gross.
I also tried setting the SWF version to 25, according to the official overlay guide. This proved to be more difficult. The official overlay guide suggests setting the -swf-version=25 compiler option, but that option is not supported by the Flex 3.5 compiler. So all I had to try was using the legacy -target-player=25 compiler option. That setting was accepted by the compiler, and it produced a SWF with byte offset 0x3 == 0x19 (25 dec), so that appears to be right.
But -target-player=25 didn't have any effect either.
Is setting the SWF version even required? Isn't the whole point of using the AIR 14 namespace in the app descriptor the way of telling the compiler "I want to use all features of the AIR 14 release". Why do I need to tell the compiler multiple times to use all the features of the SDK I'm compiling with? It just seems weird to me.
Have I missed a secret setting somewhere?
How can I tell the AIR runtime to simply run as pixel-dense as possible? When the workarounds listed below are performed, my app looks fantastic on high-density displays. But its the pixel scaling that is making everything look bad, and I desperately want to get this fixed.
    Workarounds?
On Windows 8+, we are asking our users to enable the "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" checkbox on the AIR application shortcut. This works, but is a confusing setting for average users to discover. Most just give up in frustration.
On OSX, we can't even disable Retina mode on a per-application basis, its all or nothing, so that's even worse. SwitchResX will automatically switch resolutions based on the selected app, but that's a pretty clunky (and non-free) workaround too.
Any other workaround ideas are appreciated too.
    Cheers,
    Doug

It took me a while to figure out (without much help from Adobe, grrr!), since some internet writeups were terse and implied somehow that AIR's Retina support (setting your app descriptor's <initialWindow/requestedDisplayResolution> to high) would also work on Windows. They don't.
On OSX, the steps to disable pixel-doubling are:
update your app descriptor to AIR 14
    set initialWindow/requestedDisplayResolution = high
compile with SWF version 25 or greater
vector assets, including text, will scale automatically
you'll need to replace your bitmap assets with Retina-quality bitmaps as appropriate
when running on a Retina display, you will see stage.contentsScaleFactor=2. It will be 1 for non-Retina displays.
On Windows, the pixel-doubling kicks in when you have a HiDPI scaling set to about 150% or greater (hiDPI scaling was introduced in Win7). There is no way to detect from within an AIR app when Windows is doing its HiDPI scaling. stage.contentsScaleFactor is always 1, under all configurations.
The only thing you can do for AIR apps on Windows is explicitly disable display scaling (like you have done) and update your app to manually scale all UI elements at runtime (that's really gross and hard, and it what I working on right now).
For my app, I updated our Windows installer to set the registry to disable hiDPI scaling, for all users, just for our app. Here's how you do that:
    Key = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
    Name = <fullPathToYourExe>
    Type = REG_SZ
Value = "~ HIDPIAWARE" (without the quotes, tilde space HIDPIAWARE)
That should be set in the full 64-bit registry, not the Wow32Node registry, even if your app is a 32-bit app (which all AIR apps are). If your installer is a 32-bit app (mine was), you may need to jump through some hoops to have it affect the 64-bit registry hive from a 32-bit process.
If you only want to change the setting for the current user (not all users), the KEY root is HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
If you don't have an explicit installer for your AIR app (ie. if you are deploying from the web via a badge installer), then you're even more messed up, and you will need to tell your users to disable the scaling manually.
I know, it's a total pain. I hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Doug
PS: Adobe devs, if you are listening ...

  • Can I use macbook air for ios app development?

I would like to know if i can use macbook air for ios app development or macbook pro is only option?

Just to reinforce what shldr2thewheel says - be very sure what size memory you want if you get a Macbook Air. There is *no* way to change after purchase. My advice is to go for the 4GB option - especially if you want to do app development.
The internal storage (solid state drive) of the Air can be upgraded if required but it will probably be an expensive option. If you don't think the storage will be enough then maybe using a USB connected drive to hold non-essential files is an option.
As to deciding between the Air and Pro you are basically making a decision between portability (Air) and expandability/bigger screens (Pro). What is more important to you?

  • Installing and using Adobe Air SDK 2.5 with Flash Professional CS4

    Hi,
I am trying to install the Air SDK 2.5 with Flash Professional CS4 with the intention of creating a program to use Actionscript 3 to communicate with the UDP interface using datagrams. (The server is the IL2 device link interface) As I am very new to this development environment I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions.
    1) Can I use datagram sockets with Air 2.5 with Actionscript 3 and Flash CS4?
    2) Is there special procedure for installing the AIR SDK 2.5 or do I use the instructions layout in "How to Overlay the Adobe Air 2 SDK for Use with Flash Professional - Flash professional CS4"?
    3) If I do use those instructions, when I edit the namespace for my application do I set it to 2.0 or 2.5?
    4) As a stepping stone to building my program I was trying to try to build the Actionscript 3  DatagramSocketExample program that is published by Adobe. Unfortunately I am getting a '1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: DatagramSocketDataEvent'.
Is there a step by step tutorial on how to get the example code up and running?
Thankyou for your time and patience with my noob questions
    Ian

This was part of the AIR 2.0 beta release note, but I used this for 2.5 and it works nice.
You can try it too an make sure you use 2.5 wherever the not says 2.0beta2.
    Goodluck.
How to Update Flash CS4 to Use the AIR 2 Beta SDK
If you use Flash CS4 Professional to build Adobe AIR applications, please follow the instructions below to manually update the version of the AIR SDK to use version 2.0.
Update Flash CS4 Professional to version 10.0.2 at http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html or select "Help > Updates... " from within Flash CS4.
Quit Flash CS4 Professional if it is open.
Navigate to the Flash CS4 installation folder. The default location on Windows is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\" and on Mac OS "/Applications/Adobe Flash CS4/"
Within the "Adobe Flash CS4" folder you should see a folder called "AIK1.5". If this folder is not present repeat step #1.
Rename the folder "AIK1.5" to "AIK1.5 OLD" or delete it if you do not need to save a copy of it.
Make a new folder called "AIK1.5"
Download the Adobe AIR 2 SDK from the labs website and uncompress the contents of the folder to the new "AIK1.5" folder you just created.
Copy the "airglobal.swc" file located within the "Adobe Flash CS4/AIK1.5/frameworks/libs/air/" folder into the "Adobe Flash CS4/Common/Configuration/ActionScript 3.0/AIR1.5/" folder.
Flash CS4 is now configured to use the AIR 2 beta 2 SDK.
In order to take advantage of the new AIR 2 beta 2 features, you will need to update your application descriptor file to use the "2.0beta2" namespace.

No computer can do a thing without using memory. 1.5 GB is very little. It's normal.
3 or so hours from a full charge may also be normal, for what you are doing. As batteries age, they don't last as long on a full charge as they did when they were new. All batteries eventually wear out, and are easily replaceable.
