Using an ipad in australia

wondering if anyone can help...i am going to australia in a few weeks...and i am gifting an ipad air.
its a 4g...can they use the ipad as we would here, if they buy an internet plan with an australian provider?

Presuming a WiFi only device...
I am not sure about the cellular model as far as compatible SIMs are concerned...others can speak to that issue...
Power is no problem other than needing an adapter for a US type wall plug to an Austrailian type wall plug. Check local travel stores, Radio Shack, Best Buy, Walmart, etc for adapter kits. The power adapter itself is rated 115/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz...

  • Using US iPad in Australia

I live in NYC and plan to visit Australia. I have the first generation iPad. What do I need to do to get on the web while I am there. There will not be any wifi where I will be.

There's a SIM card slot on the side of the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models (Your inital post shows a iPad 3G, which I assume is a iPad Wi-Fi + 3G model). Look for a SIM slot on the side of the iPad, like the pics below.

  • Anyone using an ipad (wifi & 3G) in australia?

    hi there
looking to buy the above but not sure if we should go with the 32 or 64gb, i'm told by a couple of people that 32gb should be well and truly enough. the 64gm is $122 extra and my husband thinks it's worth the extra for the 64 but i figure why get it if we'll never use it and save ourselves the cash, he can put it into a iphone4 or something.
interested to hear thoughts from others on what they use etc etc
    thanks

There are lots of people who use the iPad in Australia, if you're concerned.
You should get the 64GB. Since you can't upgrade the iPad's disk space, you will be stuck with 32GB forever, unless you buy a new iPad. I have the 64GB, and it's nearly full with books, music and videos. There's ways to manage that to 32GB, but as new content becomes available, you'll want the room.

  • Hello everyone: I am going to buy a new ipad in Australia and after that I am going back to China. I am just wondering if I can use it in China without any problem? Do I have to unlock or something like that?

Can I use my ipad 2 in Australia and New Zealand without a power converter to 110 volts?

As noted your power adapter will handle the voltage. You might however need a plug adapter if those county's use a different physical arrangement...

  • Can I use the iPad I purchased in the USA in Australia?

Can I use the iPad I bought in the USA in Australia?

Depending on whether you bought the 3G version, and if so which one (Verizon or AT&T), then you may not be able to get 3G coverage - I don't know what type of network is used in Australia, but the Verizon iPad uses CDMA (no sim card) and the AT&T version is GSM/sim card based.

  • Im in Australia, and I got ipad in Australia but cant use itunes as i am american, why?

im visting in Australia, and I got ipad in Australia but cant use itunes as i am american, why

If you are in Australia then you can only use the Australian iTunes store - you need to be in a country to buy/download content from its store.

  • Having trouble setting up face time to a contact with an iPhone in Perth Australia using my iPad. I can't get it to recognise the number

I cannot seem to contact a mobile number through FaceTime using my iPad. I have added the contacts number but every time i try to connect it comes up with a message saying face time failed.

    1. Make sure software is up to date
    2. Make sure FaceTime is enabled; Settings>FaceTime
    3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
    5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
    6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

  • I want to post my iPad from Australia to the US but Australia Post will not accept it because they say it has a lithium battery and cannot be put on an airplane. Is the battery in it a lithium battery?

I need to post my iPad from Australia to the USA but Australia Post is refusing to do it because they say the lithium battery in the iPad mini will be detrimental in the aircraft. Does anyone know if the iPad mini DOES have a lithium battery? The alternative is to use FedEx which will be too expensive.

    tonefox wrote:
It is. I doubt that there is any tablet or phone on the market that is not using a lithium battery.
Today's cameras, cell phones, watches, etc. also use lithium batteries yet they're routinely taken onboard aircraft.  Again, it's not the same as the several tons on the Malaysian flight.

  • HT5569 Can I use an iPad in a short-term rental apartment with free wifi in Scandinavia?

We are considering buying an iPad 2. We will be traveling in Scandinavia and the Baltic area for five weeks this summer, staying in short-term rental apartments that all have free wifi. Wil we be able to use an iPad in these countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia? If so, what kind of an electrical adapter will we need to charge it?
    Thanks!

Wifi is the same everywhere so no issue there.
The Apple charger is universal, It can take voltage from most countries so all you would need is a plug adapter to connect it to European outlets.
Your best bet is a set like this, so you are prepared for wichever outlet type you encounter:

  • IPad warranty Australia to UK

If I buy an iPad in Australia can the warranty still be used in the UK?

Yes it will be as long as it is a WiFi only iPad. If it is a WiFi+Cellular it will not be international whether it is unlocked or not (and most iPads are unlocked unless subsidized by a cell provider.
