Hello,
I just picked up an iPad Mini.
I see that I can browse to online pictures, and that I can take pictures with the device.
However, how do I use the device to browse to existing pictures on a camera card card such as SD Flash that a DSLR Uses?
Is that Possible?

If your camera pictures are stored on an SD Card you could purchase a lightning to SD Card adapter..

You could also get the pix to your computer then copy them to an SD Card, if your computer sports an SD Card reader.
Then use the lightning to SD Card reader..

There is no need to charge it before you first use it. You cannot run the battery too low as the system will shut the device off before that happens to protect the battery.
Generally speaking, your Lithium battery will have the longest useable life if you avoid deep cycles. And, Apple instituted the restrictions for the owner's protection - the previous owner must disassociate the device before you can associate it. I do believe that you should still be able to use it (presumably you do have the password if there was one set up); however, you will not be able to update or purchase anything as all of that is forever associated with the previous owner's Apple ID.

You'll now see an image of your iPad, and some info about it. The tabs across the top, click on Photos. From here, put a check mark next to 'Sync Photos' and select iPhoto from the dropdown list. The box underneath will light up, allowing you to choose whether you want to sync all photos, or selected albums. Select what you want to sync, then click apply.

Here you can try install VLC on your iPad mini , VLC should support AVCHD (*.MTS) natively.
If this can't work, then find yourself a free converter;
Handbrake, Any video converter ,ffMPEG etc.
If this can't wrok , or the output quality is jerky.
