Using an openreach hub for infinity and using BT w...
Hi all I have to questions I have trying to find the answers for.
The first is whether it is possible to try to use a bt openreach hub instead of HH5 for infinity as currently the activation date for our internet service is quite a way away (we just moved house and found this hub here).
The second would be how to connect my xbox one to bt with fon, as the xbox lacks the feature to be able to login to FON/openzone and every time I try to share my connection (either by bridging or sharing) it doesn't work. I have already done this once before so I know that my hardware is functioning correctly, I dont understand why I keep getting the same DHCP error when I try though. Is this because openzone is actively blocking me from trying or is there something I'm missing? I have followed these exact steps and tried the solutions for troubleshooting, but it still doesnt help.

the Openreach modem will need an active infinity connection to work also you still would need a home hub connected to the modem to access FON/Openzone

Sent wrong hub for infinity install

This may be a better place to post this, bt have sent me a hh4 however I have paid delivery for a hh5 plus am I right in thinking the hh4 doesn't work with infinity?
My infinity is being installed on Friday and I'm worried the engineer will turn up and not be able to do the workNot without an Openreach modem.

Infinity fibre has just been announced in my area and I have signed up for installation within the next few days.
My grumble is that having been loyal to BT and BT Internet since the dial-up days of 14.4kps modems.....I am now been treated worse than a new customer.
Last year, I was very tempted to switch ISP as I felt BT were not too competitive, and following a phone call to BT suggesting I may not renew, was passed to BT 'Retentions Dept'. I was persuaded to stay with BT especially as Infinity was coming and it would always be faster than any other ISP, also I would be given a 'loyalty' discount if I stayed. So I renewed along with BT Vision for a further 18 months.
Now, having chosen Infinity 2, my broadband charge has moved from £13.50 (BT Total3) to £26.00 (the full rate). Other friends who have moved ISP several times over the years are enjoying special BT discounts and introductory offers whilst I have to pay full whack!
BT, please explain the logic and fairness of that please......your sales colleagues have suggested I wait until my current contract expires and then threaten to leave BT and see if the loyalty discount can be reapplied!CodgerCJ wrote:

With BT, you don't have to keep swapping. You just have to point out to them that you could get cheaper elsewhere, and they will give you a discount. But you have to do it each time your contract runs out. -
Search functionality in Talent Hub for Executive
We are in process of implementation of NAKISA 4.0 on ECC 6.0 EHP5 and EP 7.3 EHP1.

We are able to see all AOR orgunits, positions and employees in Talent Hub for Executive application.
For example see below screen shot, we have position 50001330 in org.unit.
But when we try to search with that same position ID in My Positions, it's not showing any thing in list.Issue solved by running the Synchronization HR_SYNC_PERSON report and recreating indexing using ESH_ADM_INDEX_ALL_SC for EA-HRGXX component.

I recently got a mac book air. And the problem i have is with the USB port. Since there is only one USB port i tried using a 4-port USB hub. Which is working fine on any other Microsoft laptop. ut wen i tried to use it with my mac air it doesnt seem to be working. The funny thing is my mouse is working fine if i connect it through this hub. but my external hard drives are not registering through the hub, but they work if i direct plug it into the port of the mac air. Please help. As i really need the hub for my mac air.
I have two USB hubs without a separate power supply. One is older (USB 1.1) and will drive an external hard drive, the newer hub (2.0) is more compact and will not support an external hard disk drive. I cannot find any listing of the power properties of the hubs themselves, or other hubs for sale, and so do not know which might work better. I suspect a non-powered hub is not ideal for an external hard disk drive.
My solution is to buy a small bluetooth mouse and forget about using a USB hub for a mouse and instead use the port mostly for a USB flash drive. -
Hi,
I had Infinity installed 10 days ago and the initial download speed of just under 20Mb and uoload speed of just under 1 Mb.
The BT Engineer informed me at the time of installation that the download speed needs to be above 15Mb or the installation is deemed as failed (or simmilar words).
I have been performing the BT Speed test over the last few days and now find that my Line has been provisioned at download 14mb with the actual dowload soeeds that I get being between 12 - 14Mb and upload provisioned at 2mb with me getting an actual upload speed of between 500 - 800Kb.
Could anybody please tell me if there's a minimum expected speed for Infinity and know the reason why BT would have reduced my line provisioned speed from 20Mb to 14Mb when I've not experienced any problems.

I want to use my Time Capsule as a central 'hub/hard-drive' in order to keep all my working files in one place. I then plan to use my laptops/desktops as peripheral devices for editing and creation of these files. Is it possible? To create a personal cloud?

I am looking to have all my files in one place as i am hopelessly disorganised. I know the online clouds are a good solution (used Dropbox at work and uni for 3 years) however i am wanting to create my own 'dropbox/icloud' at home. So whenever i get back home with my laptop, any work i have been working on whilst out that day is updated to the timecapsule, and then ultimately as i turn on the other devices, they update to those newer versions of the files. Please tell me that the 3TB time capsule i have can do this, otherwise it feels rather overpriced as a wireless storage device?
Another note (to those in the know) If i am to be working on large files (REVIT/SOLIDWORKS/KEYSHOT/CREO/AUTOCAD) - is the timecapsule connection good enough to support editing and updating these files?
I know i may be asking a question that many have before, but as a bit of a technical novice I wanted a clear-cut answer to my specific circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated.
(*can i use this WD hard-drive that is connected to the Time Capsule as a back up? so that the time machine back-ups/any back ups are also backed up onto this one? can the WD be a backup for the TC?)

Just got an iPad. My plan was to store my iTunes library on iPad and update iPod through the iPad. Can I do that, or must i keep the library on a PC to serve as hub for all updating?

hi i got a new airport express for christmas and i set it up as per instructions ,i even give a static ip and wpa2 security ..the problem is is when i come to want to use it it says its not on my network and a orange triangle shows .when i reboot it works..then if i leave it a while and try iy agian its disapeared of my network...i have a bt hub 3 ....any help please ..im not sure if itsa faulty express
I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen. -
Here is the etrecheck report. Any suggestions of some other maintenance I can perform on my computer? A mac tech did a system diagnostic and found nothing wrong with the hardware. I have already reinstalled Mavericks, so it seems like the next step is wiping the harddrive clean and starting over, but I want to avoid that if possible! Can anybody help?

0 B Page-outs1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.

5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Can you use your Iphone as a wifi-hub for Ipad?
Is it possile to buy the Ipad2 wifi and then use your Iphone Data plan to connect your ipad to 3G network? Therefore using my iphone as a wifi-hub for the Ipad instead of paying for another data plan?
Absolutely you can do this. If you have iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 and your carrier offers a tethering plan, you can certainly use that to give your iPad a wifi hotspot anywhere you have 3G service. AT&T offers tethering. There is additional cost and for anyone who had an ulimited data plan with AT&T, they will have to give up the unlimited option and agree to a capped data plan. Currently, that option costs $45/month and includes (I believe) 4GB of data/month.

Been using an Avastor HDX-800 for storage and backup, also a SUPERDISK for smaller stuff; recently the SUPERDISK does not appear on the screen, and the light blinks while you hear it spin, also the Avastor has started to have the same problem, both USB conncected, both worked well before, but both now spinning, blinking, and not showing up on the screen as before,
Interestingly they both appear in the System Profiler, but just not working the same as before
I have tried other USB ports, but the same responce,yes I did reset the PRAM, but no benefit, still the same problem
my usb devices are: keyboard, mouse, printer, SD-USB-M3, and LaCie d2 DVDRW:

Use one account for apps and other for itunes match
Hello everybody
My question today is quite simple. I use one account for apps and tv shows, but inwant to use a different itunes account for purchasing itunes match. How can I use them both on my devices? Will it be asking for my user-pass each time i play a song? What other thing should i consider?

I have played with this issue a lot. You have to remain signed into match in order for it to show up on your phone. If you sign out to purchase an app or redownload one from your appstore id you use then match will be removed from your phone and when you go into your music app the icloud will not be there. You then have to go sign back out of the store id you used for your app purchase and then sign back into match and everything will have to go though the download to your device process again. This really is not what you want to do.
Sign up to match with the apple id that you know you will use the most or has the most purchased items and use that for all purchases, i.e. books, apps, movies, and music. You don't want to go though the other process.
Plus apple will start not letting you sign into match because you signed out and back in, in to short a period of time.
all store purchases on an iphone are linked to the store id. if you sign out of your match id on the appstore and sign into another account to purchase an app then itunes match will sign out in the music app. You can't have two store id's signed into your iphone at the same time. They are all linked together. -
How can you use the same Apple ID for music and apps but have a different iCloud
Collectively in my family we have 1 iPhone 2 ipod(4th gen) and 3 iPad mini's and we like to buy music and apps through the same Apple ID so that we can all share it but we also have a problem about the iCloud.
My son has one iPod and one iPad and he would like his contacts and messages to be shared between HIS two devices but he would also like all of the pictures taken in the family to be shared
The same for my daughter and for me.
Is there a way of selecting which devices share what????

AcwillsYou could and should set up different iCloud accounts in "Settings > iCloud", so that every user has its own email account, calendars, reminders, notes, storage for backups and app data (files etc.), by the way everyone could also use his own account for iMessage (Settings > Messages > Send & Receive) and FaceTime (Settings > FaceTime) so that you all could write and call each other.
Next the Apple ID for music, apps and other media: You all could just set up the ssame Apple ID in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" for all your media purchases like songs, movies, apps etc. -
Why does my app store use a different account for downloading and another for updating apps?
My app store used my own account for downloading and my sister's for updating, and it keeps telling me to reset my account. I already did that the other few times it told me to do that!
