Using app.execMenuItem

Hi all,
I want to adjust the page layout for Adobe Reader. Best possible method I have come across is to use the app.execMenuItem command. The only question is what is the name of the command to use? example save is app.execMenuItem("Save");
Anyone have any ideas or another way of performing the same task?

/Whitelist and app.execMenuItem('Reload')

I tried adding Reload to AR9.3.x's /Whitelist to see if I could reload a document using:
app.execMenuItem('Reload');
but when the JavaScript is executed, the current document closes as expected
but it is not then reloaded. Is this a bug, or am I just trying to do something
which is currently unsupported. If the action is unsupported, is that by
considered design, or just an oversight?

Programmatically using the app.execMenuItem "SaveAs" and "Close"

I am using Acrobat XI pro licensed...
I created a custom action with one step (Execute Javascript), after all the code runs I added a SaveAs and a Close. It prompts me to save the document, which I do successfully, but directly after I save it, it pops up and tells me that the action is not complete and asks if I want to exit the action. See below....
1) Code as it is in the script (last 5 lines of it)
// Document SaveAs command
app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
// Document Close command
app.execMenuItem("Close");
2) Error Pic
When I click "Yes" here, I get the "Adobe Stopped working" error Shown below.
My Question is this >> How do I get the error to go away?

I think you need to stop trying to close the file. The action has not finished, and taking away the controlling document is likely to lead to bad things.

Reader 9 app.execMenuItem ("SaveAs") throw: The document could not be...

I have a compatibility problem with Reader 9.
I have designed a PDF with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1. and a button, the JS code:
app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
But if I use Reader 9, get the error message:
"The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (105)." (if I use Reader 7 or 8 version works).
Why? How do I solve this?

Exactly, if you save from the standard menu options (File > SaveAs) gives exactly the same error.
After giving the error, if I try to save again it saves correctly!
Step by step, the process:
1. Download the PDF of a web application.
2. IE download process question if: Open? or Save? document.
3. Choose Open.
4. In Reader (or Acrobat) 9 go to File> SaveAs -> and click on "save" produces the error.
What does the message: "There was a problem reading this document (105)."?
Why occurs only with version 9 of Acrobat or Reader?

Certainly it is very hard to work with this Adobe technology... not control what happens within Acrobat / Reader and errors arise "unexplained" or seemingly meaningless.

App.execMenuItem("SaveAs") don't work in docready event

Hi all, I create a dynamic PDF using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1.1 The client uploaded the document to it server and the users download the document via a website. I added the "app.execMenuItem("SaveAs")" command to the docReady event, the user must save the document before he/she complete it. The save as popup work 100% fine if the docuemt is opened in Adobe reader or Prof. but when the document is opened in a browser the popup don't appear. any suggestions? Regards, Chris

Could you please confirm the browser being used here.
Make sure the plugin used here is from Adobe Acrobat/Reader : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-built-pdf-viewer-and-use-another-viewer

App.execmenuitem() Bug?

Using acrobat 8 pro in the console I enter... app.execMenuItem("Annots:ShowStampsPalette");
I get an error:
InvalidArgsError: Invalid arguments.
app.execMenuItem:1:Console undefined:Exec
undefined
If I manually navigate to the menu item and select it the menu item appears as expected, if I then go back to the console and enter the same command it works. Is this a bug? It seems like something gets initiated behind the scenes after the manual navigation. Is there a way to circumvent this?

Yes, there is a stamp palette in Acrobat X, but it is not based on the old menu item structure. Most of the Menu Items are no longer available in Acrobat X- they were replaced with the new Flash tool panels.
We've been through this subject fairly thoroughly and there is no way around it. My company has developed tools for clients where menu items such as custom stamps are used so many times per day they decided they could live with walking the menu once at the start of each session. But of course it's not optimal. The only thing that made it palatable is the large number of times a tool is used. We know of no way to circumvent it, sorry.

maybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad.

I have BIS but can't surf, send/receive email, use apps

i have BB Curve 8520. My BIS was running smoothly (sending and receiving emails real time and surfing the net through BIS), until i noticed when i tried to reply to an email that came in, it won't send. i noticed that it's fluctuating. i was able to send the email after a few minutes... then a few minutes later, i received a replied email from my friend, and when i tried to send my reply, i wasn't able to. also, i can't surf using the browser with the "internet browser" as default. i tried using my wifi and then suddenly all my emails started coming in, all emails that were not able to go through hours ago. my big question was why do i need to turn on wifi just to receive emails. but since i had my BIS for 2 months now, i can send and receive emails and surf through BIS itself without turning on the wifi. also, i can't use any of my apps like facebook, twitter, yahoo messenger, etc. They used to work fine with BIS... but now, i have to turn on the wifi connection, so i could log in with them. aren't these supposed to be running through BIS only?
I have GPRS on top, not gprs. my carrier says i have active data plan/BIS. but under Services Status..it says Blackberry Internet Service: Connection: not connected...
so, i wiped out my BB and deleted all third party apps. when this was done, i received emails telling me "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network" and even got "Activation Server" emails telling me that the emails that i have previously set up are now up and running. so i thought my BB is now ok.. i tried surfing, it was okay. after like about 5 minutes, it was down again. tried sending email but can't... i turned on the wifi and boom! the emails started coming in again.i have the Host Routing Tables and my Service Books in my BB. I have GPRS (not gprs) on top which means i have active BIS. i have registered my HRTs several times... and resending my service books... same thing...
the big mystery is when i turn on the wifi, the emails suddenly go through and i can send emails. i can open apps that used to only run on BIS. this is ok i guess, but i could never do any of these if i'm not connected to wifi.
my sister and i have the same BB... i removed my sim and inserted it to her BB and the BIS worked fine... i was able to surf and use apps.. but when i put my sim back on my phone, the problem still exists. i even used a different sim card that is also subscribed to BIS/data plan, and it still has the same problem... my guess is my carrier is right that my data plan is working ok and that my handheld itself has the problem...
i updated my OS, same problem.. wiped it out... used BBSAK, reinstalled OS... numerous battery pulls... same thing... i can receive the HRTs and service books, but after that can't do anything else like i used to... (send/receive emails, use apps like facebook, twitter, ym, etc., can't surf with internet browser - except when wifi is on everything else work fine even emails and apps)..

How many different users can use the same Apple ID to use apps?

In a corporate environment, if we have multiple users each with their own iPad. What is the terms and conditions for using apps across all those devices? Is it legal to download an app to the corporate Apple ID and use them across our multiple devices? Is this officially documented somewhere? Is there something for multi-license of apps?

Can I use apps from foreign app store on my iPad?

I apologise if this has been answered before. I would like to use apps from a foreign iTunes store on my iPad and wondered if anyone could help me with that.
We live in Australia and I want my kids to learn German as well, so I thought it would be really nice to download a few educational apps from the German iTunes store for them. I have an Australian and a German iTunes account and once I changed my apple ID in the store preferences on my iPad I can download German apps without a problem. The trouble is now that from the two apps I downloaded one changed to english and the other one doesnt open at all.
Do you have any suggestions how I could get this to work?

As long as you are using the App store > link under Software update under the Apple on the menu bar if it's not already on your Dock..( or LaunchPad )...Yes.
Using iTunes Store for Apps No, they are only for iOS ie, iPads iPhones, iPod Touches etc.

You can't use the apps on your computer, they can only be used on iOS devices : iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches. Depending on which version of iOS you have on your iPod Touches (Settings > General > About > Version) then you should be able to sync most of the apps to them, especially the newer model - an app's requirements, including the minimum iOS version, are listed on the left-hand side of its description page in the store.
To sync the apps, connect and select the iPod on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then on the right-hand side on the Apps select which apps you want to sync, and then sync/apply that selection

1) Congratulations on purchaing an iMac. But an iMac is not considered a laptop.
2) Apps you bought for you iPhone and iPad can interchange with each other, but can NOT run on an Imac or a MacBook.
You will have to buy the same title again from the Mac App Store. When you do, you can run them on your iMac and your MacBook.
