Using app from iTunes requiring iOS 6.0 on Mavericks
I downloaded an app (Blue Ocean Strategy Visualizer) from iTunes. The app requires iOS 6.0. Can I use the app on a MacBook with Mavericks or do I need an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch? I can't get this app as well as two others to work on my MacBook.

The Mac computer uses the OS X Platform and iDevices use the iOS Platform... Applications for one will not run on the Other. Each require their own compatible version.

How do I remove un-used apps from iTunes?
My iPad apps are starting to take up a lot of space on my hard drive. I noticed that my iTunes library contains a lot of apps that I've previously deleted from my iPad and no longer use. Why are they still showing/sitting on my Windows hard drive? There doesn't seem to be a way to tell which apps are being used (i.e., on my iPad) vs. those that are not on my iPad any more. I want to remove the latter from iTunes. Is possible?
I know you can simply delete an app from the iTunes library by right-clicking and hitting delete. But I need a way to differentiate those that are NOT on my iPad. There is no check mark or any other indications that I can see.
I tried searching for this but did not find any definitive answer.
Thanks.Unless I misundertand what you mean, no, that doesn't remove anything from your computer. That just hides the app from your Purchased list in the iTunes Store.
If you want to remove the app from your computer, locate the app in your iTunes library listing, right-click on it, and select "delete". Then you can prevent the app from being re-downloaded from the iTunes Store automatically either by hiding the app in the iTunes Store, per your previous suggestion, or turning off automatic downloading in the iTunes/Store preferences.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPhone to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPhone under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

My iphone 4s ios 7/0/4 will not update music or apps from itunes 11.1.3. this was true with my pc since ios 7.0.3 even with update 7.0.4 and now continues with my new MacPro also runing itunes 11.1.3. as most state in previous threads, syncs all non itunes related data with no issue and appears to work correctly on itunes data but then hangs on the last step of updating until it times out. i have tried marking specific music to transfer, setting up new playlist, deleting some old playlist on phone but stopped short of restoring my phone back to new due to the amount of non itunes data that i will lose. The itunes setup on the macpro was completely with the download of all music from a previous external backup and the creation of new playlist - on the first sync with existing phone it did ask to overwrite all phone itunes data with macpro itunes data which i did accept - no different result - no changes on phone.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -
I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes. Before iOS 8, movies played fine. After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?
I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view. -
everytime i try to download an app from itunes, or to 'view all' the apps listed, the error says; 'We could not complete your iTunes Store reuest. The network connection was reset' I used both my desktop and laptop both on Windows 7 Pro, & net is fine. please help. is there soemthing wrong with apple store temporarily?

In between, I got a messge about verifying my payment method. When I tried to submit the details, I kept getting a mmessage stating that my payment method was declined (my card is not near it's expiration date, and works fine).

I tend to delete all unneeded apps from iTunes library on my Mac, because when I delete them from there, it just take one syncing session to deleted them from all my other devices. But recently I noticed that this way is no longer helpful, now I have to delete each app on my iPhone, iPad and Mac manually. Before if you delete an App from iTunes and try to Sync an iPhone or an iPad with it, you would see a window telling you that there are items on your iphone that are not present in iTunes - do you want to copy them? Now it just "syncs" and leaves the Apps untouched. What kind of synchronization is this? -
How do have more space after deleting my apps from iTunes. I just deleted over 18 apps and then I sync after clearing the trash but still my space didn't move and its still showing that i have a lot of apps after deleting them.

I normally download my Apps directly with my iPad, but I also want to have my Apps in iTunes.
But how do I send the Apps from iTunes to my iPad?
I sync my Ipad manually and when I want to send music to the iPad I just have to choose an album, hold on pressing the left mouse-button and move the album to the iPad.
But I can't do it like this with Apps - so what do I have to do?
What would happen wehen I choose "sync Apps"? Will the Apps be deleted on the iPad and replaced by the Apps form iTunes?
In this case all documents, some licenses and my scores would be deleted?!

Connect your iPad to iTunes. Right-click on its name under Devices, then select Transfer Purchases... TThat will make sure all tthe apps you have on the iPad are also in iTunes for futurte syncing, management and as a backup. Select whick apps you want on the iPad and then Sync.
App data, such as so,me documents, scores, settings, etc, are part of the backup/sync with iTunes and should not be lost.
Photos, Contacts, Calendars, etc, are not part of the backup, as the aassumption is that you keep them on the computer and only sync updated info. -

Are the apps compatible with your model iPod and its iOS version? You say you have a iOS 4.2. That implies a 2G iPod. Many, many apps now require iOS 4.3 or later or a 3G or later iPod.
Also do you have Restrictions turned on that would d prevent installing those apps? Settings>General>Restrictions.
