Does anyone know how to configure Application Server 3.0.2 for
uploading files to the directory structure from a Web Browser
client?
I have the client side completed, but I can't seem to get the
App. Server working properly.

Could you be more specific? Where are they appearing as a blue box with a question mark?
My guess is the file extension is not being saved to the file (.JPEG or .GIF). If you know which format the files are supposed to be, try renaming one of them by adding the extension (if it is not there) and see if they start to work.

A word of caution is in order regarding changing from facing to non-facing and back again. If you have overridden master page items, you'll get a second, non-overridden copy on all the even-number pages when that half of the master page is re-applied. This applies to master text frames which override automatically when text flows into them as well as to objects you manually override. I think you'll find this particular technique also only works for master text frames, whereas the Layout Adjustment should work in all situations where frames snap to guides.

Gif 64 dittered default CS2=2.63KB CS3=4.83KB
JPG CS2Low=1.42KB CS3=4.03KB
JPG CS2Medium=1.90KB CS3=4.51KB
JPG CS2High=3.38KB CS3=5.99KB
Why? Is there any solution besides keep using CS2 for web?

Each of the three JPG files increases by the same amount -- 2.61 Kbytes. That sure sounds like some common header block is being added in CS3. Did you check the "Optimize menu" button next to "Preset" just to make double-sure "Include XMP" isn't enabled? Or some other setting like that? Or check both images in Bridge to see if something is being added.

Quicktime Export For Web files inaccessible

I accidentally posted this in the QT for Windows section, but I'm a Mac guy.
This is totally bizarre. As of this afternoon, all of the QT files (generated with Export for Web from QT7.6) that I've posted over recent days and weeks, on multiple servers, played back by different computers at different locations, running QT 7.6.4 and 7.6.6, OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.3, WILL NOT PLAY. How is this possible?
If I connect directly to the original .mov file (as opposed to the "alias" .mov file generated by Export for Web), then it will play. If I connect to the .m4v file, my browser wants to download it, and then play it.
What's going on here? Apparently I'm not the only one to have this problem. Is this due to some sort of DRM update put in place on account of the iPad introduction? iTunes and QT have been updated on at least one of the computers I've tried this with, and it didn't make a difference.

"Using the Filter HUD to Search for Referenced Files" (and "Locate Referenced Files")

I am trying to follow the Help Documentation item "Using the Filter HUD to Search for Referenced Master" (not sure if there is a way to post a URL to this) and I am not seeing what it is telling me to do.
I am going to Edit > Find and it is telling me to "Click the Filter HUD button beside the search field in the Browser". Is this referring to a browser in the Aperture UI or is this in the Filter HUD display? I am not finding this.
Also, it saying that in the Filter HUD I should "choose File Status from the Add Filter pop-up menu, and select the 'File Status' checkbox." and I am not seeing this either. Does anyone know where this is at?
Lastly, I see that there is a command called File > Locate Referenced Files and when I run this I get a "No Referenced Files in the /current/ selection. I have realized that I don't quite understand whether I am running this search for a specific Project and/or whether I have to make a specific selection in the left hand pane when I run a FILTER HUD or whether this automatically defaults to search the whole database. Does it matter what I have selected in the current Browser View when I run either of these commands?

1. Just copy and paste the URL from the on-line User Manual. Very helpful. Are you on this page?

The instructions specify ONE of the following. Your question indicates to me that you are trying to do both.
3. The User Manual has used the wrong term here. It should say "Choose 'File Status' from the 'Add RULE' pop-up menu."
4. The command -- like all commands? -- works on the currently selected Images. On the same page in the User Manual it says:
You can select a group of images in the Browser and Aperture can show a list of the referenced images within the selection, including information about where the masters are located. {Emphasis mine.}
5. The Aperture workspace is highly configurable. I don't know what you mean by "the left-hand pane". Of what?
6. Yes. Of course it matters. At some point in the 80's when the GUI became standard computers standardized on the "Noun→Verb" syntax: Select object(s), select command(s).
7. Not sure what the second command to which your refer is.

Save for Web file size not updaing

I am trying to save out a graphic for the web and I'm noticing that the little number indicating file size is not updating..did something change?

It should work. Maybe it needs a reset.
Open Save for Web, press the Option key on your Mac, the Cancel button changes to Reset. Click on it and it should clear it to defaults.
Alternate: Reset Photoshop preferences: Hold down cmd-opt-shift, start Photoshop and click on Yes when the "delete Photoshop settings file" dialog comes up.

How to add a field for multiple file upload in WebApps ?

I am creating a WebApp for user to save some information with multiple pitcures. I can only see a single uploader.
How can I add multiple image uploader and How can I create a custom file upload field rather than image upload ?

There's no other upload field type for web apps. You'll need to use the "image file type" to apply multiple file upload fields within the web app form in this case.

IPlanet 6.0 SP4 crashes for large file uploads

iPlanet 6.0 SP4,iPlanet App Server 6.5, with maintenance update 3 installed running on the same machine on Solaris 8.0 (Sparc)

I use <hx:fileupload> tag to do file upload, but it doesn't work.

Declarative Component : UploadedFile Isssue for multiple file Upload case.

Hi,
I have made one declarative component for the multiple file upload case; where i have add button that dynamically adds af:inputFile component to the popup dialog and similarly delete button to dynamically delete the selected inputFile component. Everything work fine such as:
1. add button adds the inputfile component properly and delete does the same.
2. upload of Multiple files also works fine. ( I keep the uploadedFile in the java.util.Map which is the pageFlowScope and once, Dialog box ok/cancel is clicked, i clear everything back).
IT WORKS GREAT WHEN:
User hit 5 times add button if they want to upload 5 images. and do upload for all the 5 inputFile components . (Add or Delete button should not be clicked after any upload , but before you can.)..
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WHEN:
1. user uploaded; say 2 images but not yet clicked in the ok/cancel button yet... they are still in the upload dialog ..and hit ADD button again.
2. After that user uploads say another file/image and now UploadedFile's getInputStream() returns null, length becomes 0 for all the other uploadedFile except this newly uploaded file.
Now, here is the thing, i wrote my own customUplodedFile class which is just a wrapper and it return getInputStream() from this class and length from this class and it is working.... But i am not sure why does the uploadedFile loses it's value...

That plug-in jariolamentioned supports IE6 and higher, I used this at a client who works with IE8, so it will work with IE9 to.
