Using apple bluetooth mosue + keyboard

hi guys,
going to order my macbook pro sometime soon, just wanted to ask
with the routine for using an external display being to put the laptop to sleep, plug the power, monitor etc in, and they wake it up using the keyboard or mouse.
will either a bluetooth keyboard or mouse wake the macbook pro up from sleep? or does the connection have to be a wired USB one?
thanks guys

bpeacock22,
There are a couple of things you did not specify such as: when you come back, is your computer on sleep mode or off? If it is on sleep mode do not expect that your mac will recognize your mouse. it might happens sometimes but it is not the default behaviour. You need to wake you computer up and then see if the mouse connects, if it doesn't turn it off and turn it back on.
Also, make sure you have good batteries on the mouse specially if you have other wireless devices around it. You can see the batteries charge if you look at System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Bluetooth.
This is what I do, I use my mac in the office so when I leave (if I remember) I turn off the mouse that way when I come back if my mac on sleep mode I wake it up and turn on the mouse, it detects it without any problems. If it is off, I turn on the mouse then I turn on the mac. Never had any problems with it.
Let me know if it helps.

  • Using Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse with a MacBook

What is required to use a MacBook with the Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse?
-- i.e., what 'setup' is required to get the MacBook to recognize those devices and respond to input from them?
    Thanks.

To be able to use the mouse and keyboard to full effect, such as key combos on boot and all the mouse buttons, its best to install the drivers from the cd that came with the mouse and keyboard.

Everywhere that I've checked it is not possible to do this. I would like to even do this using the vkb. I hate having to stretch my thumb all the way up just to send a message. It's messaging, not a report or email. Seems backwards. Hopefully some day Apple can add this option.

  • Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard not Connecting to iPad

Hey, I try to connect my Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard is not connecting to my iPad. I tap Bluetooth "On" and it searches for devices. Then I slide the switch on the back of my keyboard to the green light and the iPad picks it up and says "Not Paired." So I tap the keyboard and it just spins and spins and spins until the keyboard times out and powers off. Then it disappears and my iPad can't find any devices. I repeated the process several times and I got the same result.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

I had a very similar problem, with a new model wireless keyboard. The set-up is not very intuitive (and the instructions for both the iPad and the keyboard are not particularly helpful). Here's how I got it to work:
    1. If the keyboard has already been paired with another object -- e.g., I was testing out my iMac keyboard -- you should be completely out of range of that other object (more than 30 feet away).
    2. Make sure Bluetooth on the iPad is disabled.
    3. The keyboard should not be "on" -- i.e., no solid green light.
    4. Press and hold the power button on the keyboard until you get a blinking green light. This should take just a few seconds.
    5. Turn on Bluetooth on the iPad.
    6. At this point, it should detect the keyboard and instruct you to enter a combination of keys to pair the two devices.
I found that you have to follow this sequence or it won't work. For example, if you have Bluetooth on on the iPad before holding the power button on the keyboard, it won't work.
    I hope that helps.

    HellO:
I would not waste time trying to troubleshoot the problem.  Since it is new, call Applecare with a warranty problem.  I had a similar problem with a new KB some time ago and it was replaced at no cost (shipping included).

Yes, it works, but if you want to use a function keys, you must download some programs as this. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&sl=cs&tl=en&u=http:/ /uxsoft.cz/Projects/AWK

  • How do I jump between spreads using apple's wireless keyboard?

When in InDesign CS4 for Mac, I often jump to the next spread. First, I center the spread on my screen using Command+Option+0. Then, I use Option+Page up or Page down, and this takes me to the next or previous spread, and it keeps the spread exactly centered. I am going to switch to apple's wireless keyboard, which does not have a page up or page down. Will I still be able to navigate the same way using the arrow keys or another keyboard combination?

You don't have to edit keyboard shortcuts.
Press Fn + Option + up arrow and Fn + Option + down arrow to page to next or previous spread. "Fn" is the function key at the lower left corner of your keyboard.
I also turn on the function "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard. This allows you to get access to function keys when necessary.

  • Buzz / Hiss sound when using apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse w/heaphones

When I use the apple wireless (bluetooth) keyboard and mouse with my 1.42Ghz G4 Mac mini, there is a constant buzzing or hissing noise. When I turn the keyboard and mouse off, it stops. I've updated the firmware on my mac mini, but I couldn't update the firmware on my keyboard and mouse:

    (thanks, apple)
Is there a way to fix this noise? Would updating the firmware solve this? Has anyone else experienced it? It's driving me crazy!
    Thanks!

  • Using Apple's wireless keyboard

I am having trouble pairing their wireless keyboard with my MacBook Air. The computer sees the keyboard but it just won't pair.
Has anyone else run into this? If so, did you get yours paired?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have more than one computer using bluetooth? I had a similar problem. I have an iMac and a Powerbook. Both have bluetooth mice and keyboards. When I set them up the keyboard paired with computer A later also got paired and connected to computer B. When this happened it stopped working with computer A. When I tried to reconnect the keyboard to computer A it would discover the keyboard but failed to connect. I went to computer B, opened System Preferences, Bluetooth, and deleted the keyboard from computer B. I was then able to connect the keyboard to computer A without problem. I also went into the Syst Pref-Keyboard&Mouse, clicked on the Bluetooth tab, and gave the keyboard a distinctive name so that if it was picked up by computer B in the future I could remove it from the list of bluetooth devices more easily.

  • Apple Bluetooth / Wireless Keyboard Low-Battery Indicator?

    Hi All,
Does the iPad show a low-battery indicator when the Apple wireless keyboard is running out of juice? I know OS X is supposed to, but not sure about iOS. I plan to use my keyboard for meetings and depositions where I'd be in a tight spot if I ran out of juice unexpectedly.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
No, but, "The Apple Wireless Keyboard requires just two AA batteries — one less than the previous model. And its intelligent power management system conserves battery life. *So when you’re not using the keyboard, it automatically powers down. The instant you start typing, it turns back on*. Use the on/off switch when you're away from your computer for a long time."
    From here. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC184LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Carry a spare set of AA batteries just in case.

  • Using Apple's Wireless Keyboard on Intel iMac

I would like to use an Apple Wireless Keyboard on my intel iMac (the one that comes in white and has an extended keyboard). Can I do this?
I tried to set it up but the intel imac doesn't recognize it, plus the G5 (which is in close proximity) keeps recognizing it instead.
    Any thoughts?

    Hello Nathan:
Delete it from the G5. Turn the G5 off. Then try to pair it with the new computer.

You are a genius! Should I use 1.5v instead?
If the KB is working as it should, no reason to use 1.5V (and you already spent the money on the rechargeables, so why not use them, and most current rechargeables are more environmentally friendly than throw-away batts).

I was given an iMac M6498, wireless keyboard Model A1016 and wireless mouse. The first time I plugged the iMac, the keyboard worked perfectly and the sencond time, it stopped working and it is not recognised. I have changed the batteries and still it's not working.

They should work.   You do not say if your problem is with the mouse, the keyboard or both. Is there a green power light showing and is it flickering?
Here are some Apple comments on the mouse.

It may require re-pairing.   For that, go to Systems Prefs > Bluetooth.
