Using Apple Pay on Vending Machines - Over Charged

Hi All, I just used Apple Pay on two vending machines today, bought $0.75 candy on one machine and a $1.35 soda on another.  BOTH transactions charged me $1.50, I confirmed 2 "Pending transactions" for $1.50 each on my credit card account.  Anyone know if this some kind of hold, and the correct amount will eventually be charged?

Hi ..
Very likely authorization holds. Same is true of purchasing from the iTunes & App Stores >  iTunes Store & Mac App Store: About payment card authorization holds - Apple Support
Monitor the account used for making those purchases for credits. It can take anywhere from 24 hours to three business days.

Does any know if BofA is still double charging apple pay users?? Is the problem fixed?  (iPhone 6 on 8.1)

They have already addressed the issue and have eliminated any duplicate charges already.  In other words it is fine to use Apple Pay with BOA.

  • Why can you not use Apple Pay for purchases in the App Store or iTunes?

To make a purchases in the App Store or iTunes, it appears you can only pay by entering Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or AmEx information.   If you select none and try to make a purchase, you will again be prompted to enter this information.  I would like to use my Apple Pay account to pay for Apps/tunes, but that doesn't  seem possible.  It seems this negates one of the primary benefits of Apple Pay, which is to make purchases without turning over your credit card information to the merchant, in this case Apple.  I know you can pay with Touch ID, but that is only authoring payment from your credit card information you have on file.

    Hello ToastyFlake,
It sounds like you are wanting to use ApplePay to purchase content from either the iTunes or App Stores. According to the following article, you are correct. ApplePay is for in-app (if the app supports it) or purchasing from a retail store.

Pay with Apple Pay in stores
On iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, you can use Apple Pay in stores that accept contactless payments. Look for one of these symbols at checkout:
Pay with Apple Pay in apps
On iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3, you can use Apple Pay to pay within apps when you see the “Buy with Apple Pay” or “Apple Pay”  button as a payment method. Look for these buttons in apps:
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Using Apple Pay no longer displays "pay with touch id"

When using apple pay, my iphone used to display "pay with touch id" and when the transaction was approved, the screen would change to say "done" and a green check mark would appear. Last week, I had to take my phone back to factory default and restore apps, music and photos. Now when using Apple Pay, the screen is black, and neither the "pay with touch id" (to indicate that the transaction is in progress) nor the "done" displays, and I cannot tell if the transaction is going through our not.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on?
    Thank you.

To be functional, Apple Pay must see the chip it uses, which only exists in the iPhone 6/6+.  Touch sensor is a security feature for the iphone 5s itself and is independent of Apple Pay.

  • How do I set up or use Apple Pay on iPad?

Apple doesn't have an iPad Passbook app.  So how do I use apple Pay?

unless you are using an iPad (of any variety).
There is no Passbook app on any iPad.
Right, there is no app, but as I said there is a menu in Settings:

  • Can I use Apple Pay at any store that has an NFC reader or has that merchant had to have signed up to accept Apple Pay?

Can I use Apple Pay at any store that has an NFC reader (with no Apple Pay logo) or has that merchant had to have signed up to accept Apple Pay?

If the merchant accepts contactless payments, you should be able to use any contactless payment option (which includes Apple Pay).
Some merchants (like CVS) have NFC readers but they have been deactivated because they are a member of a competing payment system (Current C).

  • HT5552 Can I use Apple Pay on the App store or the iTunes store?

No. That's not currently a feature of Apple Pay.

  • Can you use Apple Pay without also needing to use a passcode to unlock your phone? I don't see that combination of options in settings.

I too don't like this. I would like to be able to use Touch ID for purchases on the App Store, Apple Pay, & Apple Store without having to use a passcode to unlock my phone. Why not allow the Touch ID to be app specific? Let us use it when we need it, not force us to use it for everything or nothing at all. That ***** that you have to set up a Passcode for your phone if you want to use Apple Pay. I didn't know about that. I haven't set that up yet because I'm waiting for them to support my credit card. Now I'm thinking I may not use Apple Pay. What a pain! Come on Apple, let us pick and choose what we want to lock down on our phones!!!

  • Can't set up a passcode on watch to use apple pay

Hi, the watch is asking for a passcode to let me use apple pay. I tried with a short passcode but it asked for a minimum of 6 numbers. I keep entering it but I tap OK and it never works. Anyone else in this situation?

    her's an update/fix:
I spent 2 hr. today at the Apple Store and we got to the bottom of it.
My employer uses Google Mail and implements a policy that requires complex pass codes (6 digits, alphanumeric).  It seems that the Watch pass codes are numeric.  When setting the Watch pass code, it never completes (e.g. don't get prompted to re-enter the six digit pass code).
We resolved the problem by 1) removing my employers email account on the iPhone 2) establish a simple pass code on the iPhone 3) set a numeric pass code on the Watch 4) complete the Apple Pay set up and 5) restoring the employer email account + complex pass code on the iPhone.
Hope this helps some of you.

  • Issues using Apple Pay at Tim Hortons

I Work at Tim Hortons and have tried to use apple pay multiple times, using different cards and none have worked. A few co-workers have tried and had the same result. When you hit "credit" on the register it activates the card terminal that does have tap to pay-which does work with my debit card. However, when you try to use Apple pay it either gets declined or says "   card reafter error"
goolge wallet used to work but now does the same thing?

I do not see Tim Horton's in the list of vendors accepting Apple Pay --- yet.

  • I tried to use Apple Pay at the 1280 Lexington Ave store in NY but was asked for the last 4 digits of my cardnumber and it never worked.

I tried to use Apple Pay at the 1280 Lexington Ave store in NY but was asked for the last 4 digits of my cardnumber and it never worked. The question itself made no sense but I tried in vain by supplying it as well as the security code. I didn't know the last 4 of my proxy card number.

Open Passbook, select the credit card you are using, touch the Info icon on the lower right. This will display the last four digits of the ‘Device Account Number’. These four digits are what your retailer wants to complete the transaction, NOT the last four digits of your card number. Some retailers require this, others do not.
