Using Apple TV bought in the U.S. in England

Any issues using Apple TV bought in the U.S. in England ?

I once plugged 240Volts UK power into a US 110V Xbox development kit.
It went bang!
But if your Apple TV is the same as my UK model. It says (on the grey rubber base) 110-240V
So no problems with power.
There should be no problems with the video output either. Analog TVs had NTSC and PAL - but HDMI is a digital standard. So your Apple TV should work fine.
In the UK we don't have Movie Rentals yet. Or movies of any kind - but that's because we have UK iTunes accounts. A US account should still work.

  • HT3069 Want to use Apple TV bought in the US, in France.

I bought my Apple TV in the US as well as my MacBook Pro.  But, I mostly live in France.  I try to rent a movie on my Apple TV and it says it's not available in the USA.  I continue to get a message that the movie is not available in the US.  I tried to change my country to France (with iTunes).  But, I still get this error.  I can't seem to buy anything on the iTunes in France.  I also want to be able to turn on Sub-titles for any film - is that possible?  Of course, at this time, I can't get any film.....!!

Which location have you used for your iTunes store location setting, in which country do you have your iTunes account.
Subtitles are available on some but not all movies.

  • HT2731 do we really use apple id first in the itunes before download to  apps store

do we really use apple id first in the itunes before download to  apps store

It's not entirely clear to me what your problem is (I don't know what you mean by 'adapt to a wall charger' or 'adapt to my I home').
As it doesn't appear to be connected to what the original poster in this thread was asking about, you may be better off either asking in one of the iPod forums (you've tried a soft reset of the iPod by pressing and holding bot the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds, and iTunes on your computer is up-to-date ?), or continuing with your thread from your other id and posting in your own language : https://discussions.apple.com/message/21958153#21958153

  • I was told you you could view your app from your Iphone on the TV using Apple TV, such as the AFL football one i have purchased through the App store.

I was told you could view your app from your Iphone on the TV using Apple TV, such as the AFL football one i have puchased through the App store. Is this true?

Hi - you can do what you want to do with AirPlay from your iPhone - but unfortunately it is not as easy as the people in the Apple store told you - your first problem is that you have a non Apple router - you cannot extend a non Apple router wirelessly with the Express - you can only join the network and connect an ethernet device to it - you can however connect via ethernet and have it create a wireless network of its' own - you can set this up from your iPhone or the XP - but this is a complicated setup and would involve many different discussion areas of this forum - therefore I would suggest that you use your 90 days of support and consult directly with Apple to do this - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

  • Using gift cards bought in the USA outside of USA

I purchased an itunes gift card in the US, what would someone in the UK need to do in order to use them?

I have the same problem in reverse. I have a US account and just got 100 pounds which I can't do anything with. What a waste and such a huge dissapointment. This is one of those rare moments when Apple annoys me. Anyone want to trade gifts?

  • Can i use an iphone bought from the uk to the states?

Hi i was wondering if i could get a tmobile iphone 4 bought in the uk and still work in the states. i currently have tmobile.

Even though they are the same company they use slightly different systems and different frequencies plus T-Mobile in the US is not at this time an authorized carrier. Your iPhone needs to be unlocked to use the US T-Mobile SIM, you will only get EDGE data speeds, I don't believe Visual Voice Mail will work and FaceTime definitely won't.
Other than that there should be no problems.

  • How can I use apple gift card in the Philippines . It says it's only applicable in US storefront

How can I use my gift card in the Philippines  when it says for US Storefront only

You cannot use that card. iTunes gift cards are only valid in the country of original purchase.

  • Use apple script to get the duration of soundfiles and send the info to FileMaker

I have close to 6000 soundfiles in approx. 20 subfolders of a folder called soundarchive and a FileMaker DB of all those files. Here's what I'd like to do. Get the duration of each file and send it to the "duration" field of the matching FMrecord. I don't know a lot about AppleScript (or programming anything apart from my HD recorder), what I do know is that a script will save me from a week of copy-pasting the info manually. I found a script by hubionmac  that does the first part (for one file) it goes like this:
    set aFile to choose file
tell application "Finder" to set filename to name of aFile
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to " = "
set duration to text item 2 of (do shell script "mdls -name kMDItemDurationSeconds " & quoted form of (POSIX path of aFile))
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "."
set total_seconds to text item 1 of duration
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ""
set showsec to (total_seconds as integer) mod 60
set showmin to (total_seconds as integer) div 60
    display dialog filename & return & return & "Duration:" & return & showmin & " min " & showsec & " sec"
So this is for one file. How do I get the information for the other 5000+ files and send it to the FileMaker DB. Obviously the "display dialog" won't do so it'll have to be changed to something like "get". How do I proceed from here?

  • Can you use an iPhone4 bought in the USA in the Uk

I am going the USA and want to buy an iPhone 4. I was wondering if I can use it here in the uk when I get back? Does this also work for the iPad too?

If you purchase an iPhone that is unlocked (which to the best of my knowledge are available only from the Apple Stores), then yes, it would work in the UK. Note, though, that the warranty on the iPhone is not international. A US iPhone can be serviced only in the US. Note as well that in the US, you will pay sales taxes which are not reflected in the normally-quoted price, so the price benefit over purchasing in the UK is not as large is it might appear, if that's your rationale for purchasing in the US.
iPads, as long as you don't get the Verizon version, are not locked to any carrier.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Can you use Apple TV all around the world

if I buy an Apple TV in Canada can I use it in Europe or Australia as well?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If I understand correctly you want to use both the Apple TV's with one TV.
There wouldn't be a problem with that, they will each need there own network connection and should be connected to different AV inputs on the TV so that you can switch between each Apple TV as a source with your TV remote.
If you don't have two HDMI ports on the TV, the Apple TV 1 will connect by component cables, if this isn't possible you would need to get yourself an HDMI switch.

  • Will Apple TV bought in the States stream Netflix in Canada?

One wonders, since the differences in prices is fairly big, whether I could buy my Apple TV in the States and yet use it to stream Netflix in Canada (now that we have Netflix too!)

There was no mention of NetFlix on Apple's Canadian ATV page when it was first announced. Since NetFlix was rumored to be available in Canada I checked the ATV's site the day it was announced to see if it would be available here. The NetFlix info was probably added after NetFlix officially started offering it's streaming service in Canada.
I have yet to look very close at NetFlix in Canada although from what I have seen it is very limited when compared to the US. Pretty much all TV Shows and recent movies I search for were not available in Canada. Even older classic TV shows such as All In The Family and MASH can not be veiw in Canada though NetyFlix. This is apparently due to the TV networks holding the rights to most US content in Canada.
It may be another handy way to get content but in it present stripped down version I would find it hard to consider NetFlix as a reason to upgrade my ATVs or even pay for their service.

  • Using Apple TV purchased in the USA back in Canada???

If I buy Apple TV in the USA, will it work in Canada?  Will I be able to get Netflix Canada?
Are all apple TV units the same in all counties?

    yes

  • HT3209 My Computer supports all of the requirements, plus I use Apple TV, iPhone4s, and the New iPad (dumb name by the way) and it still won't allow me to download HD Movies. What is wrong with this picture?

Why is that my PC supports all of the requirements for HD video but iTunes won't allow me to Download HD Movie. I am able to handle some of the most intense PC Games and I have HD movies Downloaded from previous versions of iTunes that work just fine. This is just stupid that iTunes thinks it knows my Computer's capibilities better than I do. Is there a way to change it?

    Hi,
At the top of any Buddy List it will show Your Name or your Handle (Screen Name)
This can be changed if you click on what is shown currently and it will become a drop down.
    Pic
The "Name" is taken from the Mac User Account that is logged in and the My Card in that Address Book.
So if this is your New Macbook Pro then Open the Address Book (Presumably there is only one Mac User account on this computer at the moment) and find the My Card (Head and Shoulders iCon)
Make sure the details are yours.
If the details are your brother's (Migrated info ?) then find your card and then go to the Card Menu and the option "Make this My Card".
When Adding and @mac.com name to iChat 6.x the server for the AIM login should read api.oscar.aol.com
The port likes to be port 443 with SSL ON  (See Sever Settings tab in iChat > Preferences > Accounts)
    Try it without SSL
NOTE:  Despite the Add screen saying @Mac.com the account can get listed in the Accounts List as a MobileMe account.
I would check that the original computer or the current one is not set to allow only one Login.

  • Can I use a US bought Apple TV to watch movies on an European (PAL/SECAM) TV?

I have an Apple TV bought in the U.S. I will move to France. Will I be able to watch movies on an European TV (I think they are in PAL/SECAM).
    Thanks

Re: Airplay. This is currently up to the developers to implement so it has nothing to do with Apple. Hulu have decided against it for legal reasons.
IOS 5 will bring airplay mirroring with iPad 2 but will have to wait and see to test. It isn't out until the 12th.
Airplay will work with the Macbook but only through iTunes
