Using Apple TV second gen
On my Apple TV, I watch movies I have on my computer. For some reason today I am asked to sign in with my Apple ID which now doesn't work. I am at a loss as to where to go. Is there a way to start over on this thing. And by the way there has to be a better way to put in alpha numeric data on this thing. Thanks Jerry H

Does anyone know how to play a slideshow with movies, that I normally play perfect with Iphoto (I even can add music)to let it stream to the Apple tv second gen?
So I have some movies on Imac from a holiday in Egypt and Iphoto alows me let it play as a movie.
How can I setup my Apple TV so that it is the same on my Apple TV? So with nice fade ins and outs?

Is there a possibily to make folders in Iphoto. So that I have on folder called for example "vacation Egypt" and put all the movies in this folder within Iphoto?

Since upgrading to iOS 8 , my Apple TV second gen stops playback every time my iPhone rings. Anyone else have this happen?
This is happening to me too. Couldn't figure out what was happening at first then I got a phone call and the ring came through the appletv. Playback was stopping when I would open a game or something else as well.
I'm on a 5s with ios 8 and have an appletv 3rd Gen(it is updated too). II often airplay movies from my NAS through my iPad min and that stops when something happens on my phone even though airplay on my phone is off. -
I am using Apple ipod 2nd gen with IOS 4.2.1 . No i recently updated my IOS and all my apps were deleted. Now when i download IBOOKS it needs IOS 5. How do i get the apps which are copatible with IOS 4.2.1 or IPOS 2nd GEN??
You should always have your apps on your computer. If you have failed to keep a copy of the old app versions, then you cannot get them back at all.

Using Apple TV (3rd gen) as a remote speaker from original Apple TV (1st gen)
Just got my new Apple TV (3rd gen) - discovered I can't AirPlay to multiple speakers from it like my old Apple TV (1st gen). As a workaround, can I use the old Apple TV just for music, using the new Apple TV as one of its airplay speakers? Can't seem to. The 3rd gen Apple TV doesn't appear on the original apple TVs list of airplay speakers. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, that does work - from iTunes I can see both apple TVs fine as options in the multiple airplay speakers - I was just really hoping to leave the main computer off and play my music from either the original apple tv's hdd or my iphone.
Prior to buying the new 3rd gen Apple TV I had been doing that for a while, using the original Apple TV to airplay music to speakers connected to its own optical out and via airplay to an express in the dining room.
It's odd that I can see both apple TVs and the express from the multiple speakers option from iTunes, but I can only see the express (and itself) from the original apple TV's multiple speakers menu. (Original Apple TV has been updated to latest software.) Maybe it's just too old to know about the new Apple TV.
Has anyone managed to get an original Apple TV to airplay to multiple speakers where one of those speakers is another Apple TV? -
Using accessories with second gen
Hi All,
I just got a second gen nano. I have accessories from my first gen, but the sec gen does not fit them! wth?! did they move the plug ins? will i have to buy all new speaker docs and fm transmitter or can i buy the little slide ins somewhere. this really ***!So, in your opinion, every time Apple updates their product line they need to provide a list of third party accessories that are not going to work with the new model?
Do you know how many third-party accessories there are out there?
It makes more sense to me to leave it to the user. I'm getting a new iPod soon. I know which of my current accessories will work with the new iPod and which won't. I wouldn't expect Apple to inform me of this though - they didn't make these accessories, they don't provide support for these accessories, and they don't know what the manufacturer of these accessories may have planned in the future to accommodate the new iPod (as Bose and others have done). I can only get this information from the manufacturer of the accessory. -
How can I surf the web using my apple tv (second gen)
I've owned my apple TV for over a month now, paired with my home/built windows 7 pc, but am amazed at how limited the ATV is compared to my ipad, and iphone. Is it possible to surf the net using the Apple tv on my big screen, or is it only capable of airplaying videos from safari?

Apple TV second gen Problems streaming

I have a second generation Apple tv and we frequently have problems with streaming content whether
it is HBO GO or Amazon prime. We are up to date with our updates. Could this be a problem
because we have a second generation product? Please advise.
BellaWell, having read the app, it does indeed say that it will work with AirPlay (many have said this isn't possible, I just took it as read they were correct).
No I don't think it's anything to do with it being an older Apple TV, if you are having problems using AirPlay, you most likely have a problem with your wifi network.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

Can't find PC when using apple tv 2nd gen?
I am trying to access our IBM thinkpad thru apple tv to view photos, etc. Home sharing is turned on, i-tunes 11 installed. When we turn on Apple TV and select computers, we only get our i-Mac showing up, and not the PC? Any suggestions? thank you

Why won't the home sharing automatically wake up my mac to share the library using apple tv 3rd gen
My Mac stays on however after a short while it goes to sleep mode. when i attempt to access the home sharing feture in apple tv i have to walk all the way over to the mac to wake it up in order for the home sharing to be recognized. Is there a way that Apple TV can tap into a sleeping Mac that it is synced to so this process can be streamlined?

I can't play movies using Apple TV (1st gen) only.
When I try to select a movie on the Aplle TV it's reloading forever.
I can play a movie in iTunes and "send" it to my Apple TV.

When watching my Apple TV (3rd gen) the picture jumps a few frames every few seconds, this happens when I rent a film or play back from my new Mac Pro, my Wifi is the Airport Express.
These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.
Additionally motion software on the TV itself can cause the picture to jump, check your TV settings and turn off any motion settings in use, -

Hello. I've Apple TV 3rd gen and MacBook Pro 2013 all with latest updates. AirPlay works fine till I don't start streaming videos from YouTube. After that AirPlay icon from MacBook menu bar simply disappears. Could some help. I'm using 2 Mbps internet connection.
Same issue here- I can airplay my amazon prime library just fine from my iphone 5 but on my macbook- (mavericks, 15 inch 2013 retina with quad core i7, nvidia 650 M and SSD) it just sputters and lags.
I have noticed web video is considerably worse than local content, giving me pauses of up to 2 or 3 seconds in which video stops but audio continues in the amazon player. Youku video, however, seems relatively stable. Our subscription speed is 25 mbps, so that should be plenty to stream SD video from Amazon and doesn't account for why it would be nice and stable from the iphone, but not the mbp.
Playing light, locally hosted steam sidescrollers like Limbo is better but gives periodic drops in framerate on the Tv. when mirroring the framerate remains steady on the MBP screen.
Games airplayed from my iphone seem relatively stable, though with a noticably lower framerate on the TV than on the phone.
It seems these issues have abated considerably since yesterday's Apple TV update, but are still curious nonetheless and I'm not sure that the update yesterday was specifically meant to address those issues or if I'm just getting a time with less network interference now.
Comcast recently installed a new router/modem/phone combo, replacing our old separate modem and router setup. I'm going to test if putting the network on a different channel helps. -
