Using applications across different users

I've recently been having problems with the dreaded screen freeze. To allay this I have set up a few different user logins, and it seems like a good way of splitting my work and play.
The problem I am having, on my new user login, is that the applications folder is available to all users on the same computer BUT it is saying that the programs are unregistered / trial versions when they are working fine on the other account.
Do I have to go through the process of registering each individual program to then use it with a new user account (on the same computer)?

Install the application in your administrator account, then go to first user account and run the application and get the settings as you like them. Then copy (hold down the Option key) the preference file for the application to the "Drop Box" in each of the other user's "Public" folder. Then login to each of the other user accounts and move the file from the "Drop Box" to the "Preferences" folder in that user's "Library" folder. If you are lucky, this may also have copy the registration information.
Most companies will send you a copy of your registration info if you e-mail them (assuming your e-mail address hasn't changed since you bought it).

When in recovery mode you can't backup the iPod.
You will have to restore via iTunes. See:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I'm a teacher and I use my MBP in school and, while I've not had any issues with students looking through my computer, I'd like to use a seperate 'school' user just in case. I need to have access to my iTunes library and I tried moving it to a shared folder but, possibly because of the size of my library, itdoesn't seem to work. Is there a way I can use iTunes match to enable my 'school' user to access my library in the same way I can with my iPhone?

However, if you do decide to use iTunes Match the answer to your question is "Yes". iTunes Match can be used to "sync" your iTunes library across multiple devices / computers / users.

Problem with background job using SUBMIT under different user

I am submitting a background job under different user name. I am submitting this job by using JOB_OPEN , SUBMIT report and JOB_CLOSE. But submit statement is returning sy-subrc 8, becuase of this the job_close is failed. Can you please help me to solve this problem.

One apex application, multiple different users

Hi all,
I'm developing an application that will be used by multiple different companies, all with their own data. As far as I can see, there are three different approaches for this:
- make different applications with different schemas in apex, for each company one
- 1 application, 1 schema, and distinct the data by using a key for each company in the tables
- 1 application, multiple schemas, for each company its own schema
I'm not that experienced in apex, so I don't know what the best approach is for this. Personally, the third option seems the best one for me. But is it difficult to make, and what about security? How can I make sure one company don't get to see data from another company?
I hope my question is clear and I'm looking forward for your comments!

Nope I wouldn't necessarily agree with that; 1 Application and 1 Schema will give you a much lower maintenance overhead. If you have a database licence then you can use Oracle Virtual Private Database (VPD) to secure the DATA for each organisation:

If you want to access the same library from different user accounts on your Mac put the library on an external hard drive connected to the iMac and make sure it's formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored.

Using "Run as different user"

Is there a way to make a shortcut to a program so that it will prompt you for credentials every time. I know if you hold down Shift and right click you can get the Run as different user (which is what I want). I just want to save a step because I use the program all the time, but need domain credentials to make any changes. AD, GP Managment etc...
Windows XP had the functionality by setting the advanced properties of the shortcut to Run with different credentials. Windows 7 only has run as administrator in the advanced shortcut properties., which doesn't work because its local admin not domain admin.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Actually, this command was completely removed in Windows Vista and was added back to the Windows 7 extended right click context menu. :))
You can use the same 'fix' that was used in Vista. Go to the following Microsoft website and download the ShellRunas utility.
Sysinternals - ShellRunas
Unzip the file and place a copy of ShellRunas.exe in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Create a shortcut to the executable that you want to run as a different user.
Right click the shortcut and select Properties.
Place the following command at the beginning of the Target line so that the command looks like this.
C:\Windows\System32\ShellRunas.exe <path to shortcut target>
(Be sure to include the space after shellrunas.exe)
You can also add the Run As Different User to the normal right click context menu.
Open an elevated command prompt and enter the following command.
shellrunas /reg
Press ENTER.

I find plenty of articles about homesharing on iTunes between computers, but not between two different user accounts on the same iMac. Any advice or direction to an existing artical is greatly appreciated. I'm knew to the Mac and still have Windows on the brain.

Word is stored on my user account but when my girlfriend logs in she cannot get to Word or all Itunes music is not availiable....HELP

Move the Word (or Office) folder from your user/Applications folder to the Macintosh HD/Applications folder. There it can be accessed by all users.
iTunes Music is slightly different as that's user-oriented, but you should be able to allow other accounts to use it by opening iTunes and selecting iTunes/Preferences in the menu bar. Select the Sharing option and choose what to share;
If the other account holder then checks the 'look for shared libraries' option, she should be able to access whatever music you choose to share.

Syncing across different users computers

To sync busycal and address book across three different Mac computers, do they all need to use the same icloud account?

You can sync BusyCal accross your local network (wifi or wired): one machine will carry the master calendar and the others will subscribe to it (of course the master machine needs to be running most of the time). This has nothing to do with iCloud, and indeed such calendars can't be seen by iCloud. BusyCal will also sync using iCloud (in fact they recommend this as preferable) but it's one method or the other, you can't mix them.
As to whether the login to iCloud is independent of the login in System Prefs, you'd have to ask them that. They have a comprehensive Help section.

URL access rights of a partner application for different user groups

I have deployed an application in OC4j_Portal, enabled the SSO feature by doing the required entry in mod_osso file.
Now I want a certain group of users to be able to access the URL of my application and not the others.
Right now every valid user of the OID can access it.
How should i restrict the access?

If this is a Portal application you could define the access in Portal. Otherwise you might need to change your code and check if the logged in user is a member of the group you want to grant the access.

HT2476 how can we share a single application across all users on a mac desktop?

My wife and I are attempting to balance our finances. We each have separate profiles on our Mac Desktop.21.5 in Late 2009 using OS X 10.9. However, we would like to access the same application from both of our accounts. Specificially, we downloaded iBank using her profile then mine then we created our own "combined" acoount.
If we could both access the same application from each of profiles and also the same shared iBank data file that would be ideal. But everytime we try a configuration, (sharing the data file, sharing the app) we are locked out on the next login.
Any suggests would be helpful.

Short dump using CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 with different user ids

We are getting a short dump in our program when using FM'CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2' and this is happening only for super user roles but not with regular user ids in production. We are not able to identify the solution yet, and it needs to be resolved as quickly as possible. Anyhelp, really appreciated.

Can anyone tell me why I have to re-enter the licensing information for all but a few, rare applications when I create a new user on my machine? Not ALL software does it, but most does (Adobe was one of the very few NOT to ask for the information again, although I do not know why).
I had to create another user because I was having BIZARRO font issues with the main user account (but none of the others), so I can't just "go back" (besides I am already through the worst of it, but would like to keep this from happening again).
Help?! Thank you in advance for any sage (or otherwise) advice.

That depends on the license agreement of the program. *If it is legal*, then you can look into the Home folder of your old account, go to the Library folder, open Preferences, and look for a file (or files) called com.[company name].[program name].plist. Then you can copy that/those files to the same place in your new account. They may also be in the Application Support folder.

What was the issue? Try deleting the com.apple.systemUIserver.plist file from the ~/Library/Preferences folder in your old account.
