Using auto tune in garage band

i just downloaded the Auto-Tune 5 AU demo but i do not know how i use it in garage band 1 now, if anyone could explain it to me i would greatly appreciate it!
thanks, jball

can i further correct the audio notes somehow to be exactly on tune?
within its limits. too far off pitch and it will be corrected the wrong way.
manipulate it with my controller keyboard?
that would be something completely different, you'd want to create a SoundFont:

  • Using 'Auto-Tune' with Final Cut Express HD...

Is it possible to use the program 'Auto Tune' (or a similar program) to correct the pitch imperfections on an audio track of an AIFF file - then re-import it into the audio track of a Final Cut Express HD project?
    Thanks,
    Jim

I have never used such a program, but it stands to reason that this should work as long as you export it from the program to a FCE-friendly format.

  • Can I use Sound Soap with Garage Band?

Can I use sound soap with GarageBand?

No you cannot. Sound Soap only comes as an RTAS pluggin and GarageBand can only host AU (Audio Unit) pluggins. Here are some alternatives from Izotope, an entry level option https://www.izotope.com/products/audio/msc/ and their more 'Pro' version https://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/ Hope that helps.

  • Auto Tune 5 Demo + Garage Band Issues

Okay so I have an issssue. I have been using Garage Band 3 and trying out the Auto Tune 5 AU Plug-in Demo for the last few days. I had it assigned to be used in one of my tracks in a project i've been working on. Now, the demo has expired. When I attempt to open my project (that uses auto-tune), an auto-tune dialogue comes up informing me that the demo has expired. Okay cool, but then after I exit this box Garage Band has an error and exits.
I'm not sure what to do at this point, as I have deleted every trace of auto-tune using spotlight, both in the plug in folders and in the original downloaded files.

hmm i believe i already deleted the folder from there. i checked it out and its non existant.
when i search both terms in spotlight: antares, and auto-tune, both return with no results.
any other tips? is there a way to manage the plug ins with garage band within the program?
NOTE: I am able to access garage band if I enter a project that does NOT use the auto-tune functionality.

  • I want to use my ipad2 to connect to garage band on my mac and record from my ipad directly to garage band

I like the guitar sound on my ipad and want to incorporate it into a project that I have on my Mac in garageband.  Is there any way to hook my ipad up to my mac and use it like I would the keyboard I use to record into garage band?

To do it, you have to partition the hard disk, so you will have one partition for Time Machine and another one to store files and use them in a PC and Mac. To create the partition, follow these steps > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
In order to read and write in the external disk on the PC, you have to select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". If you choose any other option, the PC won't be able to read your external disk. Apart from that, note that you can't use files bigger than 4 GB with FAT. If you want to use the external disk with files bigger than 4 GB, you have to format your new partition in exFAT, and you have to do it on a PC

  • Opening Auto Tune EFX VST

I have downloaded the Auto Tune EFX VST plug in demo
I have chosen Garage Band 4.1.2 as the application to use it with.
Does anyone know how to open up and use Auto Tune EFX once I get Garage Band opened?
I am not familiar with plug ins.
    Many Thanks,
    Jim

    ... well that is peculiar!
I would've sworn blind that I'd been using VSTs all that time, but on closer inspection it seems that each plugin is indeed an AU.
Which is the most confusing thing for me because I never consciously said 'Install as AU'. I am officially stumped as to how I ever got anything working!!!

  • In Garage Band on iPAD, is there a way to make each key on the keyboard play a different sound effect?

I'd like to be able to play a number of selected sound effects using the keyboard in Garage Band. I've figured out how to import audio tracks from my itunes library into a track in Tracks View.
Thanks if anyone has experience with this......

GarageBand on iPad does not have the SoundEffects instruments, that GarageBand on Mac has.
The closest you can get to this on your iPad will be the "Sampler" instrument. You can record a sound sample and play it using the "Sampler" instrument and adjust the pitch.
But you cannot assigne different samples to different keys.
See:  Play sounds with the Sampler

  • CPU 40 % but Garage Band doesn't work

    Hello,
I've a problem with GarageBand 11. A few days ago I've bought a Mac Mini with dual core I7 with 8Gigs RAM, and hard disk 750Gigs (7200RPM). Lion inside of course.
I'v used Garage Band but during play my project, GB stops itself and appear a message similar at "part of the project was not played". But I've checked activity monitor and the CPU (appear 4 core, for hyperthreading) is under 40% global resources, during Gb playing my project.
The tracks are 8 with many effects, the cursor became red and Garage band says: "part of the project was not played" and stops itself. I ask you, why even though the CPU is 40%, the hard disk works fine, the RAM is used for 3, 5Gbyte Garage Band desn't work?
    Thank you for your patience.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use GarageBand. There's a GarageBand Support Community where everybody uses GarageBand. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Minimum Processor for Garage Band 3

    Hello Happy New Year!
I have a G5 1.8 that I use as my main computer, and use Final Cut, and Garage Band a lot of the time.
I also have a small sound studio in my basement, and would like to get another back-up computer to also use Garage Band, and Pro Tools.
The Apple minumum requirement for the installation of iLife 06 is a Power Mac G4 733 Mhz processor.
With this information, I'm leaning toward buying an 800 mhz, 933mhz, or even 1 Gig mhz Power Mac G4. Do you guys think I should shoot for no less than a 1 Gig Processor to be on the safe side? I'm also trying to safe a little money too.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hi Hang Time
    How ya doin?
Thank you so much for your reply ....
"It depends on how far you plan to push GB, and how/what exactly you plan to record"
Yes well, I'd like to use the 2nd computer (with Garage Band), to record voice-overs. Say about 10-15 minutes of dialogue at any one time on a single Garage Band track. I don't intend to do any multi-tracking musical scores, but definitely some voice-overs.
    What do you think:
Say at least a 1 Gig Processor, and 1 Gig Minimum Ram?
    Thanx again
    Mike

  • Auto Tune prior to running motion control program (LabVIEW)

    Hi,
I am controlling Parker Compumotor (404-LXR) linear servo table via GV6 drive and PCI-7344 motion controller.
The problem is that I always have to run automatic tuning in MAX when I turn off all the system and restart it.
Before I use the automatic servo tuning in MAX, the servo table buzzes and oscillates wildly. Cabling seems to be successful as linear servo motor is completely controlled by LabVIEW after auto tuning in MAX.
I wonder how I can just run my LabVIEW program without running Auto Tune step.

    Hello Gino,
Thank you for using our discussion forums. Yes, you can programmatic load the PID parameters from LabVIEW. Tune your servo using auto tune, once you are satisfied with the response look under the Control Loop tab for the PID parameters. In LabVIEW use the Load All PID Parameters.flx and use the tuned parameters from Measurement and Automation Explorer as the PID Parameters input for this VI. Place the VI before the multistart.vi. This will make sure the correct PID settings are used. I hope this helps you out. Have a nice day!

  • HELP. CAN'T GET KNOTACT 2 TO WORK IN GARAGE BAND 08.

    Hey All,
First time poster here. According to the Kontact 2 manual, it should be stupidly simple to use Kontact 2 in Garage Band 08. Just create a track, go to the "Sound Generator," click on "Kontact 2," and play. Great! Bottom line, I never see "Kontact 2" in the sound generator. I've reinstalled, called both Apple and Native Instruments and no one has any answers.
Has anyone run into this problem with not having the Kontact 2 AU plug-in show up in Garage Band 08? It's driving me crazy to have to play Kontact 2 out of one computer into an input of Garage Band on another computer. It's ridiculous.
    J Dean

I had the same problem, try this:
In your home directory, go to Library/Caches/
(make sure you are in the library in your home directory, not the library at the root level of the hard disk).
    and remove this file: com.apple.audiounits.cache
You can drag it to your desktop if you like or throw it away.
Then relaunch garage band, it will rescan all audio units.
If you have the Kontakt audio unit installed in YourHardDiskName/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components it should recognize it and include it in your list. You can toss that cache file any time you want Garage Band to rescan your audio units.
I had a problem with Kontakt on an upgrade that broke it, GarageBand saw it and put Kontakt on its list of broken Audio Units, it would never load it after that... after a new rescan, it was fine.
    Good luck

  • Podcast export in Garage Band 10.0.3

    Hi out there -
I have used older versions of Garage Band and even iMovie in the past - meaning over 4 or 5 years ago - to do audio podcasts for my site.  These are generally 30 min. in length average.  I am only occasionally doing this now as others have picked it up.  I only have Garage Band on my mac, and find that the newer version is harder for me to figure out in exporting smaller files.  What I am doing is taking a pre-recorded audio file, editing it for volume consistency and cutting out a few things, and then exporting so I can upload to my site.  The problem with GB is the file sizes are large - in the neighborhood of 20 MB.  I want them to be about 10 if possible.  With older GB and iTunes I could achieve this, but now it seems I cannot get smaller than about 15 MB or so.  Could anyone help me out here? I am probably doing something very off here, and I am open to whatever in order to fix it, including ditching GB and getting something else altogether.
    Thanks -
    Craig

Have you tried all options in the "Share > Export Song to Disk" panel?  You can only reduce the file size by using lower quality settings.
With older GB and iTunes I could achieve this,
Do you still have your older  GarageBand version installed? GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 is working well with Yosemite, and the GarageBand 10 installer does not uninstall GarageBand '11. You could still use it for your podcasts.

    Hi
    I would try:
    • Export out to iTunes
    • From iTunes export out as .aiff
    • use this

    Hi HookedonMac,
    1- open Soundtrack
2- click the 'setup' button in the 'media and effects manager' window on the left-hand side of the screen
3- click the 'plus' symbol at the top-left of the little pop-up screen to add a directory
4- find your jingles on your computer - there are a few places they could be so make sure to look around, but you can start with this one: /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops/iLife Sound Effects/Jingles
    Good luck.

I though of doing it that way. It is kinda a long process and it would really plug up my itunes if i exported ALL the jingles i wanted. I was just wondering if anyone knew a shorter way.
    Thanks for the help.

Okay! I Figured out the Problem. For some reason the My Library Receipts (where the jingles were located) was "indexed" in Soundtrack. I indexed it and it seemed to help.
Just for anyone else who has this problem, If you want to see JUST the jingles you have to go into
Genres> Choose the Genre you want> Select NOT LOOPING. Jingles don't loop, so you should see the jingles in that Genres.
