Using avery label templates

I would like to print Avery name badges, but can't find a template for this in Pages. Would love advice on how to get started. This is something I'm very accustomed to doing in MSWord.

You chose a group of addresses you want to print and then use command-P. You will get a drop down menu where you have to select the Avery number or size of labels. It's pretty rigid.
I can't stand the limitations of the Contacts method of printing address labels. I don't want to waste a partial sheet if my selection doesn't come out even with the number of labels. I'd like to duplicate addresses which I use often to fill up the partial sheet. I like being creative with fonts, colors and even borders or images. Your ability to be creative with Contacts printing is severely limited.
I've used Pay&Play's Label Printer Pro software for years. I originally paid MUCH more for this program. It's extremely versitle. Design one label and you can copy it to the rest of the labels in the drop down menu with one click. Chose how many of whichever lablel you want to duplicate with a simple cut and paste to fill up the page.
I can vouch that it works perfectly with Mountain Lion, v 10.8.2.
Here's the link to their direct download from their website for $6.95:
http://www.payplaysoftware.com/download.html
Or you can look up Label Printer Pro 7 on the app store and pay $9.99.
No, I don't work for or have any ties to the company other than being a satisfied customer of a product which suits my needs perfectly.

  • PrintShop 7:  can I use other label templates?

    Greetings.
PS 7 alreday has a number of Avery Label templates builtin.
Can I add/use more than those included?
They are available from Avery online.
    Thanks for your time!

Hi, Bruce. Why not just give it a try? If you can find where the included templates are stored, and the ones you download have the same file format, put them in the same place and see what happens. You can always remove them if it doesn't work out.
If the included templates are actually built into the PS 7 application, see whether it offers any provision for importing others.
If all else fails, read the manual, or contact tech support for PS 7 and ask someone who can answer the question without guessing.

  • Avery Label template ?

I'm looking to create a blank sheet of Avery labels(Let's say Avery 8160 for now). I would like the user to use a PDF form instead of Microsoft Word. Is there any option available for this? Has a template already been created?
    Thanks...
    -JoeF

It sounds like you haven't installed Pages '09 you have installed Pages 5 for Mavericks.
Pages 5 has over 90 other features removed and does a terrible job of opening older files:

Pages '08/'09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.
Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

  • Avery label template - how do I get it to show when downloaded?

I am trying to design some address labels and downloaded the respective label template for Avery A4 J8160 21 per sheet labels.  However I find that I cannot see anything when I open it in Illustrator.  All I get is the page outline with no labels.  However I can open it and show ok in MS Word.  I have stroke at 1pt and 100% opacity and print in black so why can't I see it in Illustrator?  Some help please!

Just had a look at the (painfully slow and cumbersome :-P) Avery website and without registering personally I would recommend downloading the Illustrator template from the mac section and try that.
I think this is what you are after:

PM me otherwise for my email address and you can send me what you have (and preferably the Illustrator mac one if you can download that too).

I'm sorry, but Pages won't correctly open the Avery templates with the .doc extension. They open, but all the formatting is lost. Just a blank page.
I tried to chane extension to .template, as suggested by the Pages -Help window. That didn't work either.

  • Help...trying to print address labels from an excel document.  I only need info from some of the columns.  Using Avery labels.

Help...I'm trying to print address labels from an existing Excel document that opens fine in Numbers.  I don't want to print everything from the spreadsheet.  The Avery template and site were no help.  Any suggestions?

If you do not need all the excel specific items you can just write it to a spreadsheet using the write to spreadsheet file vi's.
If you want to go the excel route you will have to use active x. you can see a lot of examples on the excel board under the breakpoint forum. please post a sample of how you want your data to look and I can maybe help explain what options you have. and also oyu do not necesarily need the report generation toolkit.

  • Avery label templates?

Is there an easy way to pull up a template of labels (for example Avery 8463) so I can type directly onto the label? Thanks!

    J,
The Word Template is a good starting point, but I found that it didn't convert well into Pages. Well enough, though, that you can clean it up and use it. The last one I opened had a graphic object for each label and also a table with a cell for each label, and everything was out of alignment. The graphic objects, not sure what they were, but they look like labels with rounded corners, seemed to be just for show because the table was accepting the text input. I eliminated everything but the table and still wasn't satisfied, so I copied the table and pasted it into a Page Layout document where it is happy now.
This sounds like more work than it is, and you will save it as a Template and reuse it.

  • Creating stickers using Avery labels

I recently switched from a PC to a fabulous G5 iMac. I used to create cute stickers for my students' papers with my PC using Print Artist and Avery address labels (#8160), but cannot figure out a way to do this with my Mac. I am looking for a way to insert graphics and text into the label and then print a sheet of all the same design. I hope someone can help me. My students will be disappointed if they don't get custom-made Romeo & Juliet stickers!

I am looking for a way to
insert graphics and text into the label and then
print a sheet of all the same design. I hope
    someone can help me.
    Hi Jen,
Welcome to the discussions and the AppleWorks forum.
What you're looking for is very similar to a page of return address labels—a sheet of labels whose content is the same for each label. You'll find an excellent set of instructions in Sharon Joiner's User Tip here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=607494
Your graphics can be simply pasted into the layout for the labels. Remember to set AppleWorks Preferences > General > Text to use Fractional character widths to improve the resolution of your graphics.

  • How can I get templates for Avery Labels to use with Pages.

Prior to getting Pages I always used Word.  Word seems to bomb out on my new imac.  I need to be able to use Avery Labels, but I can't find a template for labels in Pages.  Suggestions?

Pages doesn't have label templates built in. You can use Word templates in Pages, but I do believe that Avery now has Pages templates although I only see "holiday" ones.

  • How can I create a new label using Pages and Avery Labels products?

How can I create a new label using Avery LAbels and PAges on an imac?

    Contacts prints to Avery labels.
Otherwise just open the appropriate Word template from Avery's website, in Pages.

  • Print Avery labels from MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air and don't seem to have the application called Address Book.  I have Contacts.  After a frustrating time trying to find a way to use Pages to print address labels and searching the Apple Support Communities, I finally came upon the suggestion to go to the Avery website:  www.avery.com  Great easy way to accomplish what I wanted.  No software to download, just use the templates on their website.  Project can be saved on your computer or their website.  Have to use their website to print your project using your browser.  Worked beautifully for me.

Pages v5 does not play nice with current Avery label templates in Word format. Pages v5 does not natively perform mail merge without adapting a third-party AppleScript solution.
Labelist 8 is in the OS X App Store for USD $20. It is comprehensive, label software. Download button on their site gives you a free, full functional, 30-day trial. Recommend you consider Labelist over any Pages v5 kludge. Your time has a value.

  • Avery Labels and HP 45000.

Cannot get printer to match the labels in Word.  Using Avery Labels and their software with Word 2010.  Anyone else having a problem?

    James,
You don't say what type of labels you want to print. It's pretty easy to set up a table in Pages to align text fields with labels, if you're just looking to type miscellaneous data, stuff that might not work well in AddressBook. There are no built-in templates for Pages to align with specific Avery products. Once you create one, save it as a template for the next use.

  • Creating Avery Labels

I want to create mailing labels for my Christmas cards (as well as any other future correspondances) using Avery labels 5160. According to Appleworks Help Index this is possible, but I'm having problems finding a template to get started. AW Help mentions I need to go to LAYOUT first but I can't find it. It's obvious I'm doing something wrong. Can someone take me through a step-by-step instruction on how to do this? I appreciate any/all suggestions. Thank you!

Mailing labels are created using a Database document, which is where you'll find the Layout menu.
The first part of this reply will quickly get you a basic label. The full post will let you produce a better label, but it's a bit more complicated.
If you're starting from scratch, the quickest way to go is via Starting Points.
Launch AppleWorks, then go to the File Menu and choose Show Starting Points.
    Click on the Assistants tab.
Click Address List, the first Assistant in the panel. Click through the assistant, accepting the default choices. This will produce a 'Personal Address List', which contains a layout for 5160 label stock.
That's the basic label. Here's the better one:
If you already have the names and addresses in a database document (or if you've created the Personal Address List DB, and aren't happy with the labels it produces), here's how to make your own.
The instructions assume you have the following fields in your DB:
    First name
    Last name
    Address (contains the street address)
    City
Province (or State) (contains the two letter symbol for the Province (or State).
Code (or ZIP) (contains the postal code (or ZIP code))
Open the database, show your standard data entry layout, and press shift-command-L to enter Layout mode.
Press shift-command-D to define new fields.
Define two new Calculation type fields, 'Full name' and 'City PR Code' (or 'City ST ZIP')
The formula for 'Full name' is:
    'First Name'&" "&'Last Name'
    For 'City ST ZIP':
    UPPER('City'&" "&'State'&" "&'Zip')
AppleWorks automatically inserts new fields into the visible layout if there is room for them. You don't need them in your data entry layout, as they are calculated, rather than entered fields. After you click Done, you should, if you wish, delete the two new fields and their labels from the current layout before creating your Labels layout.
Now create the mailing label layout.
Go to the Layout menu and choose New Layout (Note: NOT "New Label Layout)
Choose Label, then use the pulldown menu to choose 5160 from th list of Avery numbers. Click OK.
In the dialogue, double click each of these three field names in the following order. (You'll find the first and last at the bottom of the list, the second near the top.)
    Full name
    Address
    City ST ZIP
When the three fields names are listed in the Field order window, click OK.
Press shift-command-B to return to Browse mode. Go to the Window menu and check Page View to see the labels as they'll appear on the page.
Print a test sheet before running the actual label stock through the printer. If all of the data is being printed too high or too low on the labels, either move the fields in Layout mode, or (better) change the top and or left margin to relocate the data in relation to the top of the page.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Using Avery Templates with Pages

I am new to Pages. I want to format Avery 8387 Card in Pages instead of Microsoft Word. Are there Avery templates in Pages like there are in Word. Can I use Pages to make Avery labels? Please help!

    Cards are rectangles.
Rectangles can be drawn and arranged in position on a page with minor use of maths.
As fruhulda has said Pages will open the Word documents supplied by Avery.
…and guess what's on those Word documents?
