Using barcode font with distributed reports?

Hi
We have designed a report that uses the barcode font Code39AzaleaRegular3 that is supplied with Crystal Reports 2008. We use third-party software that incorporates a 'Crystal viewer' to allow users to run Crystal reports without having Crystal Reports installed on their computers. My question is whether we can install the Azalea fonts on these computers or would that violate any licensing agreement?

- You can not install the Azalea fonts as installed on your development system. Unfortunately at this time there is no CR MSM or MSI that includes the fonts. This issue is being tracked under TE 5000082393. New MSM and MSI files will be release with Service Pack 3 for CR 2008 (mid June estimated).

  • Any problem using PC fonts with Fontbook?

    Hi all.
    Are there any potential issues using PC fonts with Fontbook? I've downloaded a free internet font, ran the "Validate File" option, then loaded the font into Fontbook. Afterwards, I also ran "Validate Font" and it checked out okay.
    It seems to be working, but I'm wondering if there is cause for concern that maybe down the line something funny will happen?
    Any insight into this?

    No, a font is just a font. All PC .ttf and .ttc fonts work in OS X. Windows Type 1 PostScript fonts (the ones with matching .pfb and .pfm extensions) do not.
    The only real problem with free fonts is that the majority of them are not made well and can cause various problems because of it. Read section 14 of Font Management in OS X to see what those issues can be.

  • Export to pdf failed while using Barcode 128 with CR Basic 2008

    Hello,
    I get the following error message when I try to export a Crystal Report Document to pdf: Error in File
    "C:\DOKUME1\URSULA1.HAR\LOKALE~1\Temp\temp_57163b88-26f9-43c1-8043-d3938772b762 {F54D4509-BFEF-444C-B672-DF893EEBD942}.rpt": Operation not yet implemented.
    This error only apears when the report contains a barcode with the font Code-128 (print in Barcodetype 128). Is this function not possible with Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008? Must I install an additional tool?
    Waiting for your answer and kind regards

  • Adding Barcode Font, Other PDF reports complete in warning

    Hello guru's,
    I am needing assistance with a barcode font problem that I am having. We have followed instructions on Tim's blog about adding barcode fonts but the concurrent program completes in a 'warning' status.
    Also, other reports that were developed in Word that are getting output to PDF format are also completing with a warning(even though they have no Barcode Font on them). When I try to view the output through EBS it will not let me view it(though it will let us print the report to a post-script printer with a pdfTOps printer driver).
    Interestingly enough, when we remove the Font Mapping(which was done at a site level) all the reports without barcodes complete successfully and can be viewed through EBS(and the report with the barcode font completes in a warning). So my question is, why does this happen and how do I fix the issue? It appears as though the Font Map which we created is not allowing the predefined fonts in XML publisher to work properly?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Which version of XML Publisher are you in? You might have to install a patch for bar code to show up on PDF outputs.
    Please take a look at metalink note: 373377.1 (in the bottom of this document, please see the patch info along with error info).

  • Using Messaging  Bridge with Distributed Destinations

    I'm having some problems using Distributed Destinations with the Messaging Bridge in WLS 7.0sp2. Our configuration consists of the following:
              * WLS Server1:
              * JMS Server1:
              * inbound queue
              * outbound queue
              * JMS Server2:
              * inbound queue
              * outbound queue
              * WLS Server 2:
              * JMS Server3:
              * inbound queue
              * outbound queue
              A distributed destination is configured for the inbound and outbound queues.
              Two messaging queues are configured so that bridge from WLS JMS to Tibco JMS using the distributed destinations.
              Everything is working fine for the inbound, but we have found that the outbound messaging bridge is picking up messages from only one of the two JMS servers on the first WLS instance. When monitoring, it can be seen that there is no consumer registered against the second JMS server.
              Any suggestions?

    Hi Rob,
              Consumers on distributed destinations are always pinned
              to a single physical destination on creation. Only
              producers can round-robin each message. When a
              distributed destination is used as a source destination,
              you will need to configure a bridge per distributed
              destination. Alternatively, you can enable
              forwarding between the physical queues, which automatically
              forwards messages from physical queues with
              no consumers to physical queues that have consumers
              (but the extra hop impacts performance). For more information,
              consult the JMS documentation.

  • What is the best way to add and use custom fonts with Eloqua?

    We have a custom font that we'd like to use with Eloqua and were wondering how others might have successfully approached this.

    ~~Disclaimer: This answer refers to email fonts only - landing page font imports are discussed below~~
    Hi Brett,
    I took a look at these two posts: Re: Tips for getting the E10 email editor to change the email font for Outlook & other old-school email clients? and Re: E10 Fonts
    It seems that there are reasons as to why only a few of the fonts are supported. You can drill down into the source code to edit the font type, but I'm not sure that will get you anywhere.
    To drill down:
    To get the desired font & size in various clients (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook) I found that specifying in the html works best.
    So whether it’s a P or TD, tag I add the style attribute & specify the font along with color & size.
    e.g.:
    <td style="LINE-HEIGHT: 18px; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 12px;">
    Of course if you use the WYSIWYG editor you will have to view the html source & add this.

  • Problems using Dynamic parameters with Crystal Reports and SBO 8.8

    Has anyone been able to successfully use a dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports with 8.8 using the Business One connector? When we try we get an additional logon to the database that pops up and the logon fails.
    We need this because we want to return live lists of PO documents from the server for selection. We are also trying to use nested dynamic parameters, because we want to first return the PO document based on the PO number, and then chose specific rows based on a field value in POR1.
    It works if we don't use the Business One connector, but then the report doesn't function properly inside of SAP.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I have tried using tokens but they are too simple. I need something like a subselect where you first select one value and then another that is a subset of those values. Apparently the tokens can't even use a "where" clause.
    SAP dances around Dynamic parameters, but won't come out and say that they can't be used with the B1 connector. If that is the case then they should just say so and stop wasting our time. Apparently Crystal is not truely interfaced with B1, just sort of hanging out with it.
    I don't really care other than I have to do this select, subselect. If someone has a way to do that with tokens I would love to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Roy

  • Using a font with diacriticals - How?

    I make extensive use of a font called URW Palladio Pali, which is for writing in the Pali language. It includes letters with diacriticals, such as a line over an "A", making it a long vowel. You may be familiar with this from Latin. More familiar is the Spanish palatal "n", written with a tilde (~) over it.
    In Windows, I would use the Alt key plus four numbers to get a long A: Alt+0225. I have tried this using the Command, Option, and Control key, and none of them work.
    How do I get my Pali diacriticals?

    I am beginning to long for the "good old days" with PageMaker!
    It would be a very big job to redo all my work in a new font.
    I'm sure. Depending on how long you want your efforts to last, you may want to think about doing that work.
    A big part of my job is taking old PageMaker publications in old fonts and bringing 'em into the 21st century. I installed and looked at the URW Pali fonts, and saw that the way you're working is going to trap your documents in the 20th century. You may be okay with this - maybe you are only working for print, and you're completely okay with your documents not being in step with contemporary standards, and you don't care if your work dies with you (or you're willing to cede the work of bringing your documents up-to-date to someone else).
    Check it out: if I open up InDesign's Glyphs menu (Type -> Glyphs) and mouse over the S-with-dot-below, the little popup informs me that the letter is encoded as "LATIN CAPITAL LETTER E WITH GRAVE." This means that your font of choice is out of step with Unicode, which is the basic standard for font encoding that was developed during the 90s. It means that, should twenty years pass and the URW Palladio font disappear from the Internet, your work would require conversion to Unicode standards for anyone to be able to use it. It makes it very hard to revise or repurpose the text in such documents.
    You may not care - in which case you can safely ignore my admonition that you should think hard about tackling that "very big job." I do that "very big job" all the time, when I write a script to convert text set in a noncompliant old font that worked fine in PageMaker for Lao or Amharic or Dari or Tamil or Croatian or what-have-you, into a new font and new encoding that is based on standards and will be accessible for the foreseeable future. It doesn't mean that I have to re-typeset the entire body of work; to the contrary, it means I get to haul PageMaker documents into the twenty-first century, with a minimum of fuss, and perhaps a bit of text reflow here and there.
    More than anything else, it means that when I make a PDF of a how-to-use-your-state-sponsored-benefts document for a refugee population, and my client puts it up for download, it's searchable. It means that, should I need to update a document, I don't have to find a translator or typesetter who is capable of working in a particular old-fashioned font. And, most importantly, if I get hit by a bus tomorrow and my brains wind up scattered across the roadway (actually, my coworkers frown on my use of that particular hypothetical proposition and insist that I substitute "if I get abducted by aliens tomorrow"), it means that someone else can continue my work without having to have obscure expertise in foreign-language typesetting hacks and workarounds of the early 90s.
    Just think about it.

  • Unable to use certain fonts with WMFS2

    Hello,
    Hopefully just a simple issue -- I installed the Montecarlo font and it works beautifully. I use it in urxvt and it shows up correctly in xfontsel, so I know it is installed.
    However, whenever I specify the font in my wmfs2 config, it fails to load. Here's the error:
    wmfs: Can't load font '-windows-montecarlo-medium-r-normal--11-110-72-72-c-60-microsoft-cp1252'
    Defining the font as loosely as possible doesn't help either:
    wmfs: Can't load font '-windows-montecarlo-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'
    And this is how I have it placed in the config:
    font = -windows-montecarlo-medium-r-normal--11-110-72-72-c-60-microsoft-cp1252
    I've installed Artwiz fonts and can use them in wmfs2 without a problem, this works just fine:
    font = -artwiz-cure-medium-r-normal--11-110-75-75-p-90-iso8859-1
    Is there anything else I could check or try? Thanks!

    The culprit was this line
    URxvt*letterSpace: -1
    Got it from this thread.
    Removing it makes the font render fine. However there is still the issue of lag with some fonts.
    Terminus (and derivatives) work fine. Tewi, on the other hand, does not.
    I deleted all the manually installed fonts and installed the packages from repos and aur.
    Fonts still show up with a -- (double hyphen) in them (?)
