Using Bex without populating systems in the logon pad

We have just migrated to NW Portal 7 and are currently upgrading the rest of the landscape, and want all users to use the portal to access all our SAP systems this includes BW.
As I understand it when you open a query using Bex it gets the list of systems from the installed logon pad.  Is there another way to do this as we do not want to roll out a new logon pad to all users?

Are you trying to find a way to disable access to the BEx Analyzer?
If so, we are wrestling with the same issue, but think we have found a possible answer. Assuming you are using Single Sign-On on the Portal, run transaction SU01 and go to the Logon Data tab. Click on the 'Deactivate' button (unlit match) in front of the Initial Password field.
Of course, the downside is that this would have to be done for each user, but it seems to work. If any other gurus out there have better suggestions, please jump in.
Hope this helps...

Those choices are controlled via System Preferences, Trackpad.

  • How do I install windows using BootCamp without cd drive fot the new MBP?

I need some softwares for my work (modelsim, altera, ltspices etc) but some of them only supports windows.
New MBP doesnt seem to have a cd driver.
How do I install windows using bootcamp without cd drivers?

You can use a USB thumbdrive to do this, assuming you have access to a windows machine to format the usb stick.
I installed Win7 on my MB Air (2011), which of course lacks a DVD drive altogether, using this technique.
Basically, you download a tool called rEFIt to your macbook. ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/refit/files/rEFIt/0.14/rEFIt-0.14.dmg/download ) When this is installed, it gives you a boot selector menu when you boot the Macbook ('Do you want to boot to MacOS or to the USB drive?')
Then you download and run an Apple tool called Boot Camp Assistant, which allows you to partition your HD for the two operating systems to share; it also pulls down all the windows drivers you need.
Then prep the USB thumbdrive on a windows machine to be a Win7 installer disk. You'll want a drive in the 4gb+ range I think. You have to set up the thumbdrive to be bootable (lots of tools for that available), and then copy all the windows installation files over to it.
Put the thumbdrive in the macbook and boot holding down the option key.
Choose the rEFIt icon on boot, then choose to boot from the thumbdrive, then format your new windows partition to something Win7 can handle, and install windows.
On my machine I followed a slightly more involved process and wiped out MacOS entirely. I would have kept it on a small partition if I'd had a bigger hard drive.
If you need super detailed instructions, CNET has some here:

Tech-Recipes has some similar instructions here:

If you have any issues after trying this, ping me and I may have solved them when I went through the same process.

I bought a used iPad Mini  from one of the shops and i do not know the new way about restore without sign out from apple ID of someone else I make a restore for it so it is lucked now with unknown ID and I returned it to the show and advised me to contact you , now my ipad is lucked so I need your support please if you need any information about me I am ready & responsible for any thing .
    Best regards.

You've run into iOS 7's Activation Lock:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
Without finding out the credentials (Apple ID, password) of the previous owner, you cannot unlock nor activate the device for use under your own Apple ID. this is to prevent/deter theft of iPhones & iPads.
You need to contact the place of purchase to find out if they can contact the previous owner to have it removed from their Apple ID so it can be used by yourself. they can do it without having access to the device as outlined here:

  • Inserting tuples in a ResultSet without populating changes to the database

    Hello,
After statement.executeQuery(A_SQL_STATEMENT), I got a ResultSet object, however, I want to insert many extra tuples into the final ResultSet before it being iterated and println() its content. I try the following possible solutions, but all of them have problems:
    Possible solution 1:
    rs.moveToInsertRow();
    rs.updateString(...)
    rs.insertRow();
    PROBLEMS:
    It will update the actual data content using insertRow();
    Possible solution 2:
Extend the implementation Class of ResultSet and override the insertRow() functions so that it did not update the actual data content.
    PROBLEMS:
I am using Oracle JDBC Drivers. I cannot get the source code for me to hack and extend the ResultSet implementation.
    Possible solution 3:
Implement the java.sql.ResultSet interface by myself.
    PROBLEMS:
    Kill me, another solution?
    Thanks for your help,
         Eric

    Hi
I think Solution 2 with a twist will do...
Create a myResulSet class by extending Object and implements java.sql.ResultSet
Create a constructor that accepts a oracle.driver.OracleResultSet as a parameter and remove the default constructor
Map all method to use the passes oracle.driver.OracleResultSet object except for insertRow() where you can provide your own implementation ...
in your code when you say
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery("..");
    Create myResultSet myRS = new mtResultSet( rs) ;
and use myRS for all operations ....
Though I am not sure I think its called as Delegation in oops terminology
    hope this helps

  • Using sapshcut without SAPLogon System Dialog

    Hello,
we're using sapshcut.exe in our Terminal Server enviroment. But when I start a session with sapshcut the SAPLogon with the system selection dialog is opening in the background. Is it possible to suppress this behaviour?
I have to mention that our customers are using sapshcut, but our service/helpdesk team need an access via SAPLogon. The solution for suppressing the SAPLogon System Dialog with the usage of sapshcut shouldn't have any impact on the direct start of SAP Logon.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards

    Hi
    1.  You can use the command line " start sapshcut /? " to find the help menu
    2. Could you explain in detail about your requirement?

  • Adding logon groups to logon pad

    Hi,
How do I use SAP GUI 7.10 to add these logon groups to my logon pad?
    Please guide.
    Regards,
    Visshwas

    Hi,
If you have more than 1 instance then you will be adding these instances to a partcular logon group at the time of post installation. Clicking on the SAP system in the logon pad you will be getting the logon group, message server helps you in logging into the particular instance.logon group helps in load balancing.

  • Using two seperate operating systems on a Mac, and a smart-phone to better integrated the flows!

I am considering to get a new Mac.
In that I want to be able to use two seperate operating systems. The Mac operating system and maybe either a windows or linux or an other useful and functional alternative!
The reason for this is, that I have several laptops incl. an iPad. I have concluded that iPad isnt that useful for my needs till now, its not very functional for my needs. I am also going to upgrade my smart mobile still considering functional alternatives (would like to hear yoru thoughts about this as well)!
I want to integrate them into one machine only and utilize cloud  and / or an external Disk, and be better able to use useful apps and software that are not available on either one of the systems on their own my own system!
Usage will be both for biz and private, but at the end usefulness, and functionality will play a big part in my final decision!
Do you think this is practical, useful and cost effective way doing it the way I want to do?

My reason for wanting to have windows on my Mac is to be able to utilize, some applications that are not available for Mac OS!
In the past I raised few points relating to that, and wasnt able locate details to consider to have only a Mac system. Thats why I had to have few laptops to handle all! I got myself an iPad(1) but again it didnt met the exact needs that I have!
Thats why I am going to integrate all in one new system(Mac), and exchange and process while on the road via smartphone or something that is between a smartphone and tablet!
As to smartphones; I hear positive notes on iPhone, but seems to have some issues with its antena, the new Moterola seems great to exchange files anywhere, and the new Samsung Galaxy, very advanced. However what I lack at this stage is user experiences to see if any of them can meet my needs, and what the best combination could be for efficiency, speed and value for money(laptop, operating sytem, smartphone).
I am tired of crashes, frozen screens, or not able to open files or pics because they are not compatible in some ways! I try to maintain, clean and update my systems, but some stuff does comes in between despite all!
Anyhow, thank you for your support, I will try to do some reading on the keywords you used, I might get back to you for some more leads!
    Thank you once again!:)

  • Adaptive RFC use in test/dev systems

The Adaptive RFC model requires a msg.server for metadata. Does that mean it can't be used in test/dev system where there is only an app server? I find that hard to believe.
Secondly, during the creation of JCO Connections in the webdnypro content admin tool, the drop down boxes for message server and application server are empty. where is this data defined? saplogon.ini + ...drivers/etc/services files were copied to the WAS/SLD host machine.
Furthermore, is the Adaptive RFC the best way to use SAP data (called from function modules) in a webdynpro?
    Thanks,
    faB.

    Hi,
1.Even in development system you have centrall services, and as part of this you have a message server. So you can use Adaptive RFC model in development sysetems without any problem.
2.Regarding you second question: you should define you application system in SLD before using JCO destinations. Just search for SLD in this forum and you will fine the how to configure it.
    3. AFAIK, Adaptive RDC model <b>is</b> the best way (it's better to say the <b>proper</b> way) to use your SAP application system in the WAS context.
    Hope it helps.

  • Using SNMP without Agent

    Hi,
Is there any monitoring SUN software using SNMP without installing agents on the servers ??

Solaris does ship with a SNMP Agent out-of-the-box... but it only monitors a limited number of things by default. Or, if you have M-series hardware their XSCF's come with SunMC preinstalled as well: you don't have to install it yourself (and SunMC uses SNMP).
If you mean monitor Sun software like web or directory servers... some of the older versions of those packages did include SNMP support... but modern versions are moving to other protocols like JMX.
In general, the best monitoring comes from installing some sort of local Agent, either SunMC, Ops Center, or one of the many tools from Oracle partners (like Halcyon, who I work for)

  • Getting to know used memory without garbage collectable objects

    Hi all,
I would like to know what is the currently used memory without garbage, so only the objects that are still referenced.
Is there a way to do that? Preferably using JConsole?
    Thanks,
    Kristof

That is indeed a way but the problem is that you are never sure that all garbage will get collected... (JConsole indeed has a Force GC button)
I suspect that the JVM only knows the amount of garbage when it performs a GC. And as this is an expensive operation is would not be effective from a performance point of view to constantly keep track of the amount of garbage in the heap. That is probably also the reason why there is no profiler that supports this.
It makes it difficult to get to know the actual memory gain from one implementation versus another. The most reliable way to go I think is by running the application several times, lowering the max heap each time till it fails with OutOfMemoryException.

  • AWS HANA ABAP and sap logon pad

I am looking to consume HANA views with ABAP (as demostrated here SAP HANA Academy - ABAP: How to consume HANA procedures in ABAP - YouTube  )
I have an AWS account with a HANA installation running with which I have connected with HANA Studio (rev 80) successfully.
The SAP GUI 730 (Patch 4 Hotfix 2) is installed and I have also successfully installed Eclipse Kepler (in accordance with this guide Step-by-step Guide to setup ABAP on HANA with E... | SCN )
When I try to create an ABAP project I am asked to either use the connection details in the SAP logon pad or connect manually. I have not maintained the logon pad details and hence wish to connect manually.
Here is where it gets fuzzy to me. In order to connect with my HANA instance what do I enter as:
    - Application server? The IP-address of the HANA instance, right?
    - Instance number?
    - System-Id?
    - SAP router string?
I assume that this is all information that is available with my AWS instance, but I dont know where to find it.  Furthermore, I am assuming that no additional components are required in my set-up. If this assumption is wrong please indicate what is missing.
    I greatly appreciate any support.
    Thanx

    Problem solved!

  • HT5815 Updated to 10.8.5 and now I cannot control my macbook pro with the track pad.  Any solutions?

Like any other time, the App Store said there was a new update and asked if I wanted to update now.  I did.  Unfortunately, the update, after rebooting, has rendered the system unusable.  I can no longer control the system with the track pad.  The arrow is moving itself around the screen and the Launchpad periodically opens itself and gets locked in that mode.  I've rebooted, launched in safe mode, and zapped PRAM.  Nothing has changed.  I experienced the same thing in safe mode, no change.  Anyone else having these problems?  Not sure what to do next.

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable.
    2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check for unknown or forgotten input devices. Disconnect any USB input devices that you aren't using.
    3. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller.
    5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    6. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    7. Some people have reported that they fixed a malfunctioning trackpad by pressing down on all four corners at once. I can't confirm, but it does no harm to try.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • Batch file for End Users SAP logon pad update.

    Hi All,
We need to make sure that some of the new systems are updated in the end users logon pad. I know that on the logon pad itself a user can create an entry for the new Server but is it possible to create a batch file that will automatically update the logon pad, when ran.
If yes, then can someone guide me on the steps.

the logon pad relies on a few files:
    saplogon.ini
    sapmsg.ini
    and another one less used:
    sapgraph.ini
so, all you have to do is to copy these files from a distribution server, upon the next saplogon restart, it will use the new config.
