Using Blackberry as wi-fi

Is it possible to us my blackberry for wi-fi with my iTouch?

No BlackBerry is capable of sharing its internet connection via WiFi.
You can tether a BlackBerry via Bluetooth, but not to an iPod.

  • How to find a lost BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect

Posted originally on the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
It’s a scenario no one wants to encounter but here’s a quick overview how you can help locate your BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect if you can’t find it.
Tip: Using a BlackBerry OS device? Check out this post for help locating your device using BlackBerry Protect.
Step 1 – Enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services
To locate your smartphone you must enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services.
After you turn on Location Services, your smartphone only sends its location information when you request it through the BlackBerry Protect website, or when your battery power is low.
Swipe down from the top of the screen
    Tap  Settings > BlackBerry Protect
Set the BlackBerry Protect switch to On
    Tap Location Services
Set the Location Services switch to On
Tap  Back to save your change
Step 2 – Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website
After you enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services, complete the following steps to view the location of your smartphone on a map.
Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website located at http://protect.blackberry.com
    Click View Location
BlackBerry Protect will attempt to locate your smartphone
If your smartphone can be located, a map appears similar to the following showing the approximate location:
If you still can’t find your smartphone at the reported location, use the Play Sound option within the BlackBerry Protect website. This option makes your smartphone ring loudly for one minute as well as activating the Loud profile.
Help! BlackBerry Protect can’t locate my smartphone!
To locate your device it must be turned on and connected to the wireless network.
Because BlackBerry Protect also uses GPS, you may not locate your smartphone if it is inside a building, underground, or otherwise blocked from receiving a satellite signal.

  • BO Mobile using Blackberry Simulator_Webi Report Error JVM 104

    Hi Everyone,
I have installed BO Mobile XI 3.1 server on the same machine (Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP3) on which I have my BOE XI 3.1 server deployed.
I am using Blackberry MDS and Blackberry Smartphone Simulator, installed again on the same machine, to test the BO Mobile application. I got the BO Moble client appliaction on my Simulator by copying the Blackberry BO mobile client files from BO mobile server onto the directory of Blackberry Simulator as suggested in the admin guide.
    Problem
The problem I am facing on my Blackberry Simulator is-
Its not opening any WebI report which is stored in my machine's BOE reporsitory. It gives an Error message- "JVM Error 104 Uncaught:CMDisconnected Exception" Can not open even as I further select 'continue'.
However, its successfully opening any other WebI report which is stored in a different BOE repository, which is deployed on different machine over the network.
Also, Its successfully opening any Crystal Report document from any BOE repository (mine and other deployments as well)
    Diagnosis till now
    1) I understand the JVM error 104 is the standard error message which Blackberry Simulator is designed to throw whenever there is any uncaught exception is thrown in the application- Could not dig further at simulator end.
    2) Checked the mobile server logs- No Info (hopefully!)
    3) Currently perhaps trying activating and tracing WebI Processing Server log files. ('Logging' folder) Not able to see any log files other then a few webirichclient_XXX_trace.log files, which gets generated when I launch Webi report using Rich Client. (No trace for webi reports launched from InfoView/BO mobile)
Request to provide your suggestions in line with the problem and also with the diagnosis steps already taken.
Please also guide as how to trace & understand Webi log files in these regards. We can see some log files in Logging folder of BOE, but no clue.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Nirmit

HI Nimit: Do you got the answer for the issue you were facing long ago?
Now it is my turn...if you can send a light, that would be helpful
    Thanks

  • HTTP connectivity error while using Blackberry MDS and JDE 5.0.0

    Hello,
I am using BB MDS simulator 4.1.2 and BB JDE 5.0.0 for testing sample Oracle ADF Mobile client apps that I have developed.
My app tries to access webservices via HTTP.
Here is where I am encountering a HTTP connectivity issue.
    1. For instance, while trying to test HTTP using Blackberry browser, I see the error : "Unknown host mobile.blackberry.com:80"
    2. The sample I tried to run to test webservices - accepts a word from the user and gets it translated in to a desired language, using a webservice provided on the internet.
Here, I have tried to translate the word 'madam' from English to French.
    I have encountered a HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request.
Kindly have a look at the MDS Trace as below (related entries in bold) and suggest if I am missing something from the configuration perspective.
PS : I have tried various options from the blackberry forums but they were not very helpful.

    Hi, there:
A couple of things to try and check:
    - Does your network connection goes through proxy server? If you are behind a proxy server, then you would need to set up proxy server in MDS by open the file <MDS simulator install>/config/rimpublic.property, go to the [HTTP Handler] section, and add the following line:
    application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true
    application.handler.http.proxyHost=<your proxy server host name>
    application.handler.http.proxyPort=<your proxy server port>
    - Try BlackBerry MDS simulator that came with JDE 5.0. MDS 4.1.2 should still work with 5.0 device simulators, but it's worth a shot
Can you hit the web service from the browser in your Blackberry simulator? Feel free to directly contact me at [email protected] - if necessary we can also pull in BlackBerry/RIM resources to help diagnose this.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • Can i use blackberry builtin email client with wifi without BIS or BES

Hello everyone, I am using blackberry 9300 curve 3G. is it possible to use blackberry builtin email client through wifi without having the Blackberry services (BIS or BES)? i want to use my official email id (POP3 and smtp) on it. if possible please share the method..
    Thanks in advance

Not that I know of.  You have to have a blackberry data plan in order to use the built in email.  After that, you can use WiFi only.

If you activate a smartphone on the Verizon network, it will automatically add the $29.99/month unlimited data feature to your account.
These phones do NOT need data to FUNCTION, and they could make calls, send texts, use wifi, etc. just fine without Verizon's data plan.  Verizon chooses to require you to pay for the data plan in order to access the privelege of activating that type of device on their network.
The phones which require the $9.99/month plan ARE generally a bad value.  They make poor use of the data feature, and they will probably never be free of that requirement.  I would suggest looking at older 3GMM type phones.  Models like the enV2 and original Samsung Alias do not require the data plan but offer more substantial feature sets and higher quality than the currently available "Feature" phones.
Thanks, it just seems crazy. I am eligible for 4 of my phones, for the "FREE PHONE EVERY 2 YRS", and it almost seems like I am down grading? We have a LG voyager, and 3 LG dares. There are no phones in the verizon line that compare to these with out going to a 9.99 or 29.99 extra/mth charge? It just does not seem right?
    Am I missing something?

  • Problems loading applications using Blackberry Desktop software

I am using a Blackberry Bold 9000 with OS 5.0.0.681 (Bundle 1137, Platform 5.2.064) and Desktop Software 6.0.0.40 (Bundle 42) on Windows XP. I have about 20 MB of memory available for apps, but I cannot load new applications using Blackberry Desktop software. Now I can remove or unload software with no problem. However, when I attempt to load applications or software that I don't have, the following happens: I can click on the grey cross icon under "Action" to indicate I want the module and status changes to "Pending Install". The apps I want are English UK, Spanish, Supplemental SureType Wordlists for English and Spanish, Blackberry Application Centre, DOD Root Certificates, TTY Support. I then see the following on on the screen: "Update - Uploading Device software -->" "Update - Loading applications -->" "Loading device modules -->" "Loading applications from device - Searching for available device software -->" "Loading applications from device - Read device service information -->" "Loading applications from device - Searching for available device software -->" And lo and behold - the applications are not loaded; they appear as uninstalled in the application list and I can't access them on my Blackberry. During this process the phone does not reboot... previously when changes were made the phone would reboot. My question is, is there a way to force Desktop Manager to load the applications? How can I load the software I want? I have done a wipe and reinstall of apps and OS on my phone; delete and registry clean of my laptop followed by reinstallation of Desktop Software; battery pull and SIM card pull, but to no avail. This is frustrating as I have friends with whom I converse with in Spanish but it isn't my first language so the spell checker is very useful. Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem, after weeks of no problems.
Hard reboot of 8520 several times, reboot desktop, tried different USB ports.
Intellisync crashes on organizer sync and Destop Manager cannot read applications.
    Is there a fix?

  • Used blackberry - locked BIS - cannot add personal e-mail address

    Hi -
I purchased a used blackberry (tmobile - same carrier that I have) off ebay.  When I ran the set-up wizard, I had only two options for adding e-mail address (work e-mail address with enterprise or skip this option).  I understand that I can register new e-mail addresses online with tmobile.  However, when I try to do this - it says the Pin has already been used.  The ebay seller is not responding with his username or in calling tmobile directly to terminate the lock.  Is there some way for me to get around this and access BIS?

You can try contacting T-Mobile to ask them to release the PIN from his account. Not sure if it will work or not. Until it is released from that person's account you won't be able to use it. But try calling T-Mobile to see what they say.

    Hi Farid-11388
You can update to 10.2 through the BlackBerry Link
But it is recommended to check if your Operator officially released the 10.2
And so it must be an update.
Always remember before upgrading to backup with BlackBerry Link.
