Using blend tool to create even transitions between shapes

When I use the blend tool I notice that the blends from large to small and the distance between the objects are based upon the center of the two shapes. I blended the squares on the outside and the gaps between the blended squares aren't even. Is there a way to blend the shapes and have even gaps between the new objects?

the goal would be to create a blended square effect (or any object) to fit a stroke variation of this style

and the objects would be blended again to this (filled with the squared blended pattern)
if I'm not making sense, which I'm probably not, I can show you what the pattern would look like with the uneven blended squares. It looks way off and far too spaced out between the objects by the time the stroke fades out to its final weight

How to create a transition between tracks

I have a 3 minute sequence that I would like to loop in DVDSP. I have duplicated the sequence into
two tracks and set end jumps to ping pong between track 1 & 2. So far so good. How can I create
a transition such as Dissolve to transition between track 1 and 2. I have set transitions but can only
simulate a cut when looping between the tracks. Help appreciated!

I think DVDSP doesn't offer anything like a dissolve, so here's a suggested hack:
In your FCP timeline, duplicate the segment so that you have three copies,
one after the other. We'll call the three copies A, B, and C. Put the transition
between A and B, and between B and C. Make sure that A begins appropriately
(maybe a fade up from black), and that C ends appropriately (maybe a fade to black).
Now export and compress each segment and include in your DVDSP project.
Create a track in DVDSP, and decide the maximum length of time the track will run
(this is a guesstimate). On the track's timeline, put the segments in this order:
A B B B B B B B C, with the number of repeats determining the maximum length.
I realize it's a hack, but it should work. When exporting from FCP, be careful
to get the in and out points correct.

Blend tool isn't sticking to its shape

Hello, I have been having issues with using the blend tool on my object. If you look at the picture, I had one outer shape that was what I wanted shaded and a thinner shape that runs inside the other. It blends perfectly fine everywhere except at the bottom. I don't know how to explain it or what went wrong but I can't figure out how to make the blend fit inside the shape.

Well, you half fixed my problem. I deleted two points where you said and the big gap between the legs disappeared but it seemed to have broken every other part of the body. Believe me, I've been messing with adding and subtracting points now but it keeps altering between what you see in this picture and back to the big gap between the legs.
Edit: After messing around with it for awhile I got it to fit with the shape. Thanks everyone for the help. My points weren't lining up within the two shapes, I guess.

Advice on using Pen tool to create shine effect?

I'm very new to the pen tool. I want to draw a shape at the top of my rectangle and lower the opacity of it to make it appear similar to a top lit shine like something that Apple uses.
I place my first anchor point in the upper left corner, move the pen to the center of the rectangle (based on what the smart guides tell me) and drag the handle to the right, I then plot the anchor point in the upper right hand corner and it finishes the other side, Lastly, I close the path by clicking back on the first anchor point.
1.) is this the correct way to use the Pen tool?
2.) can anyone suggest anything else I might do make this effect look better?

In the tarnsparency Panel there are the blending modes which work on individual object groups or layers
and you can also give each object transparency as well.
You mightwant to create a highlight or some kind of reflection.
I am sure you can do better than I did I used an Effext>Styklize>Feaher to soften theedges of the highlights though often highlisht are no soft.

Using Airport Express to create a connection between two Macs

We have two G5s in the office, one of them has built-in Airport and the PowerMac doesn't. We have Airport Express but we aren't sure whether it can be used as hardware to allow the non-built-in-Airport G5 to HAVE wireless access to the other Mac's files and so forth...
In other words functioning as a server connection or a network between the two.
The Airport Express didn't come with a USB cable, thus my suspicions.. Is this meant to be used solely with Macs with built-in Airport?

The USB port on the AirPort Express (AX) is ONLY for a single compatible USB printer.
The AX can be used to allow a non-wireless computer connect to a wireless network (via it's Ethernet port) ONLY if the AX is configured to use WDS to connect to the wireless network. If the wireless network is created by another AX or an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), using WDS is possible.
Be aware that each WDS link cuts your available bandwidth in half.

Using Pen tool to create mask _ How do you get the points to stop connecting together?

I've masked the sky over the roof of a home. Started on the left side of the photo and moved over the house detailing it to the right side of the photo. When I try to create the mask by clicking Command /enter the points on the left and right side of the image connect which makes it impossible for the mask in the sky to work.

How to Use NDS Tool and create a very simple application

Hi All,
Today i have Installed NDS on my machine,but i dont know
how to use it,is there any guide inside NDS which gives me step by step procedure to create a simple application.
Can any link help me know about this.version of NDS is 2.0.9.Is this latest one?
I am pretty confused about NDS and PDK,if NDS can be used to develop java apllications ,then whats the need of PDK at all?

PDK includes coding examples on the following topics:

"Blend" Tool Problems

Hi, I am using CS and the “blend” tool to create a train track but I cannot seem to get the spacing to look right. I tried adding a 3rd railroad tie in the middle but that didn’t work either. Any ideas how I can get more spacing in the foreground and less in the distance?

You may also do this in a simple (or maybe not so simple) 2D way.
Your first and topmost/smallest sleeper/crosstie shaped as a trapezium has a certain height H (basic width of sleeper as seen at the viewing angle) and two horizontal segment lengths, the top length W (basic width/length of sleeper) and the larger bottom length WB; you may wish to adjust the length of the bottom segment to get the desired growth in width; you can see the misfit between the angle and the growth in your image(s) yielding a ragged appearance.
You have to decide the relation between the height and distance between the sleepers, and have the angle at the ends fit the desired growth in width.
If you settle for an approximate solution (which is probably only insignificantly inaccurate) where each distance between sleepers has a certain ratio R to the height (width on the ground) of the previous one, you may:
1) If needed, adjust the length of the bottom segment (see below);
2) Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform with Horizontal Scale = Vertical Scale = 100+(1+R)*(WB-W)*100/W%, Vertical Move = -(1+R)*H (negative value), and the desired number of Copies.
If you dislike the growth of the width, you may repeat 1) and 2), starting with an adjustment of the length of the bottom segment, then recalculating.
If you dislike the ratio of distance to height, you may just repeat 2).
To illustrate, if you start with a first sleeper having H = 2, W = 20, and WB = 21, and a distance ratio R = 1 (same distance as width), you will get the following values in 2):
Horizontal = Vertical Scale = 100+(1+1)*(21-20)*100/20 = 100+2*1*100/20 = 110%
Vertical Move = -(1+1)*2 = -4.
Number of Copies as desired (19 for 20 sleepers in total or similar).
Obviously, the greater the relative difference between WB and W (the further from a rectangle), the lower the viewing angle and the faster growth in the size of the sleepers.
And obviously, the greater the ratio R, the less dense appearance.
Here are images based upon H = 2 and:
A) W = 20/WB = 21/R = 1 (Horizontal = Vertical Scale = 110, Vertical Move = -4)
B) W = 40/WB = 24/R = 1(Horizontal = Vertical Scale = 105, Vertical Move = -4), and
C) W = 20/WB = 21/R = 2 (Horizontal = Vertical Scale = 115, Vertical Move = -6):
You (probably) do not want to know how to do it for full (insignificantly improved) accuracy.

How to create a transition where a certain area stays the same?

For example, let's say I have 2 pictures of me. They're different, but my face expression is the same in both. I want to create a transition between them (cross dissolve or something) so that my face doesn't get blurred during that transition. Like, it's a different size than in the other photo, so I want it to kind of morph into the second one, without a sudden change in position.

Blend tool bug?

Hi!
I am trying to make a "3D-ish" button by using the blend tool. It works fine on the first two layers-they blend together just fine. But when I try to put a third (gradient layer that is set to screen transparancy before blending) layer on top it won't work as it is supposed to. See below. What am I doing wrong?
When I drag the blend tool cursor over the button no "line" appears. Anyone knows of this "bug" or what I am doing wrong? Please help!

Looks like that object is rotated. Maybe just dragged the rounded rectangle tool in another direction when drawing that object. Use the blend tool to create the blend and click on corresponding anchors with it.

Transition between sequences

I am trying to create a simple cross fade between 2 sequences but can't seem to make it work. The transition won't apply itself. Can you create a transition between two sequences? Is there anything special that needs to be done to the individual sequences?

I think its because there are no handles. You need media on either side of the edit point to be able to insert a transition. So one thing you could do is delete some frames from each sequence on either side of the edit point, then insert a transition. For instance, to do a 30 frame dissolve, set an In point 15 frames before the edit point and an Out point 15 frames after...hit shift/delete to ripple delete, then add your transition.
One other thing that I just noticed works as I'm playing around with this...if you copy and paste all the clips from each sequence into a new sequence, it'll treat them as normal clips and as long as their are some handles on the clips, you can add transitions. It seems when you drag a sequence from the browser and lay it into a new sequence it treats it differently and you run into the no-handles issue.

The Muse product creates the Javascript, css and html files, with the images etc.
The Muse product looks ideal to create the master pages with no coding required.

For SharePoint 2013, yes you could absolutely use this tool to create your HTML (this post is in the 2010 forum, so just making sure). In SP 2013 you can use the new Design Manager to upload HTML which then gets converted to a .NET Master Page.
So long as Muse turns out valid HTML, you should not have an issue.

Hi Melissa - thanks for your interest. Here's the first frame, the second frame and the tween frame. I don't understand why the tween is changing the position of the object in frame 2, was expecting it to just fade from one frame to the next.

Can you display multiple photos on one page with slide tool to transition between them?

A Steve mentioned you can use a button to display an image. If you use JavaScript, you wouldn't have to show/hide multiple buttons but could instead dynamically set the button icon programmatically. The setup for something like this is a bit involved, but it's not overly complicated. Post again if you'd like more details.
The slide bar is the thing that would have to faked as there is no such built-in control, but something functionally equivalent could be done, it just may not behave as smoothly as you want.
