Using BO IK Iviews

Hello, everyone i am working on the integration of BO reports (Webi), in our SAP EP i have many doubts about the configuration that it is part of the BO System created at SAP EP for example i don't know what path should i enter at the viewer path i tried with reportview.do for use the default viewer in BO but i am receiving exceptions, this is for one side because i want to make available thru portal different ways to watch reports the previously is for iViews that come in IK and another way is using OpenDoc and another one is using (Webi) as URL iVIew (External because of the limitation inside Portal, all of this with the SSO enabled), for another anynone knows what to configure in the web.xml for enabling SSO for WEBI and OPENDOC i already get both but i don't know what to configure.

Menu Options.
i followed these steps but im getting same context menu for both KM End User and the KM Administrator .
Assign the role Content Administrator to the user km_admin. This is needed so that km_admin can change
the presentation settings for the KM Folder u201EReports_kmFolder‟.
Now, login with user km_admin. Navigate to the Km Folder reports_kmFolder through Content Administration
-> Km Content. Click on Details link of the folder reports_kmFolder.
Go To Settings -> Presentation. Click on the tab u201ESettings for You‟-> Click on button u201ESelect Profile‟.
Select the radio button corresponding to u201Elayout Set‟, and choose u201EConsumerExplorer‟ from the dropdown.
Click u201EOK‟.
Select both the check boxes corresponding to Items Affected as shown above, and click u201ESave‟
Now, remove the u201ESuper Administrator‟ role from the user km_admin and login with this user.
How rto resolve this????

Hello Prasad,
Most likely the user km_admin still has system principal roles assigned, even though you removed the Super Admin role, you should check that this user doesn't have any other admin roles, otherwise it will be considered a System Principal user and will therefore still have access to all content. Try creating a new user with just read access to the content and you should see that it will not be able to make any changes etc.

How to control lookup table's attributes using 'item details' iview???

Hi Friends,
Using 'Item Details' iview we have an option to edit, visible or non-visible. But there is no option to control visible, editable or non-editable at attribute level of the lookup table.
Does any one know any solution for this scenario apart from custom development using Java Api.

I know that, at moment, is not possible in MDM standard iView to control visible, editable or non-editable at attribute level of the lookup table.
May be it will be possible in the future. More flexibility you can obtain using Java API.

But my problem is that, there may be no of users will be accessing this report. user will not be having SAP GUI installed in his machine. He will be accessing Transaction IView after login in EP (from any where may be from cyber cafe) and He would like to take printout using any button on the screen.
So suppose any end user having only Internet Explorer installed in his machine, will he be able to take the print out. I think its very genuine requirement.
OR user can not take print out untill SAP GUI is installed in his machine???
Please suggest...

If you need to get some BPM skills then try the BPM space itself or better yet the Process Orchestration space has the most recent materials by checking out the materials in http://scn.sap.com/community/process-orchestration
Apart from that the BPM forum can help you, but it's always best to post one question at a time.
Perhaps you could be clearer about what you are looking for?
Is it an approach to the process?
Is it how to call the backend system?
Is it how to work with the user interfaces?
Think about it carefully and then start a new discussion for each issue.

I created CM repository and did all settings.i could able to see the folder and subfolder contents under Content administration>KMContent>root-->KMPublications(my own folder).
-->using Administrator user i could able to see all folders/subfolders correctly and could able to edit.
-->now i created KMNavigation iview and created new role called "KMRole".then i assigned iview to page,then page to Role .this "KMRole" is assigned to user called "prasad".
>for folder "KMPublications" ,using context menu Details>settings-->permissions ,i added "KMRole" for "Read" only.
-->when i logon to portal with user "prasad" ,it is showing all root directory content and subfolders.when i click on subfolder called "foods",it is showing me exception.this problem is not coming if i logon as "Administrator".can anybody helpme out.
Note:if i chnage the Path to display value to subfolder ,it is only displaying subfolders content only.if i click on its subdirectory ,it is giving null pointer exception.

Maybe there is approval set up on this folder. Order time based publishing. Both can cause the read users to see nothing.
The first means that read users can only see published documents. If no document is published the result is a empty folder.
Same for the second feature. If timebased publishing it can be that all documents are hidden for the read users because the documents are out of there time interval.
Hope this helps. Check both in folder > details > settings.

How can I use KM document iView in a room TEMPLATE?

I want to use a KM document iView in a room template. The target document for this iView will contain some standard html content for every room built from this room template. This file's content and the folder structure for the room template will come from a room extension. The iView should be able to display the HTML in the target document, which will always have the same name (roomHome.html). How can I configure my room template so that each instance of rooms built from this template will be able to navigate to its own unique instance of roomHome.html?

It's not possible to tag text with multiple languages in Pages 5. Go back to Pages 4, which should still be in you iWork folder.
For the whole doc in Pages 5, use Edit > Spellling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar.

"java.lang.NullPointerException" using the calender-iview

Hi,
We are using SAP NetWeaver Portal 6.0.14.0.0, KM-Version 6.0.14.2.0 and Microsoft Exchange 2000.
Our SysAdmin has integrated Exchange into the portal and I integrated two calender-iviews (one-month-overview & one-daay-overview). Until last week everything worked fine and everybody was able to see his appointments within this two iviews. But now we get the error-message "
java.lang.NullPointerException" in this iviews.
We haven´t changed anything, this error-message appeared suddenly. Has anybody an idea what´s wrong?

(a) You should definitely check the log files (default.X.trc) to get a more specific idea where the error comes from.
(b) If you don't realise immediately where the problem comes from when watching the traces, consider opening an OSS message, for at least a NPE should never be thrown on the UI.

How to retrieve the system used in an iview?

hello,
i'm currently having trouble retrieving the proper attribute of an iview to retrieve the system used by it.
it seem like the strings identifying the system in the iview differ in some iviews.
using either:
myIView.getAttribute(IAttriView.PORTAL_SYSTEM)
or
myContext.getAttributes("").get("System").get().toString()
produce errors.
while get("System") sometimes provides the correct system alias the attribute is none existant for other iviews where the string would be "Systemalias".
IAttriView.PORTAL_SYSTEM doesn't seem to work at all.
i did implement fail safe code if the attribute isn't present, however i don't know how to retrieve the system attribute without doing a case switch or something similar for all the different strings, which i would prefer not to do.
also, is there an easy way to retrieve all iviews which use a specific system without parsing the whole pcd and checking the attributes?

Error 404 when using JPG in iView

Hello Portal users,
i have a problem with JPG/Gif pictures in my iViews. I have uploaded an JPG and a GIF picture with name SAP.jpg/gif to the KM content to folder /documents/Test/Pictures/SAP.JPG . If i click on the picture in KM Content i can see it.
Now i try to put it in a KM Document iView. I set the path to /documents/Test/Pictures/SAP.JPG. At first it works fine, but when i do it the second time i got "Error 404 Resource not Available" in the preview screen.
I tested it a hundret times an i get every time error 404.
I am new to Portal an. For Learning i use the Video 2 Brain tutorial. I do i exactly the way it is mentioned in the video but it dont works.
Please help me.

Try to create the iview with portal component.
Right click on folder in portal content > new > ivew > portal component > select appropriate component for KM >> then once iview create, add the location path of the image.
Also you can refer to default trace log file for more information.

Using generic master Iviews - How change title on the preview??

Hi All,
We're using r/3 4.7, mss 60.1.20. I'm using the generic master iviews to create specidic java iviews. I'm using a sap query and the generic jsp's provided.
One of the examples provided is 'Communication'. So i copied it and put in my own sap query name. I put in a title in the Tile field but the title when i preview it is sitll 'Communication'. Does anyone know why this is or how i can change it?
Also is there a way of creating fresh iveiw based on master iviews? there doesn't appear to be an option for it in the iview template..

Thanks Linda. I understand that about the default settings. I was wanting to see different optimization speeds based on different internet connection speeds, not just 56kps. I was hoping there would be an option to select different download speeds so you can see how quickly a file would download based on 56kps verse a DSL line. I don't appreciate this restriction as most people are using high speed internet connections.

the SAPGUI should be configured with authorized user
Actually the SAP logon things i am configured in portal itself.
so using SSF before displaying the transaction, the user again need to enter the authorization.
so it is not meeting my criteria

Using same webdypro iview with DEV and QAS

We have the webdynpro program iview in EP 7.0 , however, I would like to change the same webdynpro iveiw with different client in Sap DEV and QAS, Is it possible? Or how to change the connection to SAP system.

Yes, you can do it.
Procedure :
Logon to NWDS : -> Windows-> Preferances->J2ee Engine
First mention the QAS system on which you want to deploy the application.
Then change these parameters and point to the DEV system.
Now, you have finished deploying the application in both the servers successfully.
1.Logon to the QAS system
http://fqdn:portnumber/sld
2.login as a J2ee_admin
3.Create a technical system and test the jcos that you are using in your application there. After the JCOs are tested and pinged successfully, run the application and test.
4. Finally, create a web dynpro iview and assign it to the users or roles you want.
Repeat the same steps for your DEV system and you are good to go.

Using iphoto with iview

I am trying to set up a simple system for archiving and backing up photos using the best combination of iview and iphoto. As far as i understand, iphoto makes copies of the original photos to store in its own folder, and iview simply mnakes pointers to the original photos (in my case, they are all on an external harddrive).
So what i believe i have right now is an external HD with all my originals, a copy of each of these photos on my computer (created by iphoto and put into the iphoto folder), and a bunch of pointers to the originals on the HD through the iview catalog.
I was thinking it would be best to make the annotations in iview, then sync them to the originals. Will this affect iphoto as well? Will i have to re-annotate in iphoto, or is there a clever way around this?
Furthermore, what would be the best back-up strategy, in your opinion?
Does anyone use a happy combination of both programs, and if so, what does a sample workflow look like?

When you sync annotation from iView back to the files, iPhoto will not read them. The only info iPhoto reads is some of the EXIF data, capture date, modify date, exposure, etc. an only during importing. If you use iView on the iPhoto library folder you should be very careful how you use it. If you create a versions folder outside the iPhoto Library folder you may be able to edit photos with iView and save the edit in the versions folder and not mess up the iPhoto library, i.e. tampering with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.
FWIW here's how I use both iView and iPhoto together.
1 - upload a shoot from the camera to my external HD and put it in my folder system, Year, shoot. (2005 folder and in that folder shoot folders titled like 05/08/05-Mother's Day/Balboa Park)
2 - add that folder to my primary image iView catalog.
3 - sequentially batch rename the files in that folder with the international date format, 2005-8-05-01.jpg, -02.jpg using iViews batch rename capability.
4 - drag that Mother's day folder into my 2005 iPhoto Library window, importing them and creating a rolls with the same title and the folder. The iPhoto library is located on my boot drive.
If I want to create a book I'll use iView to assemble the photographs I want to use in a Category. I then create a new iPhoto library just for that book and drag the photos from iView's window into the open library window. That keeps the library small and less chance for problems.
With two drives I can have two separate copies of my photos. I use iView as my primary image management application and iPhoto as a backup and books.
You can edit photos in the iPhoto Library folder with iView and save to the versions folder that you set up with iView. When viewed in iPhoto the thumbnail image will not be changed but the full size view, in the Edit window, will reflect the changes. I would be very careful in trying to operate on the photos in the library with both applications. Too much chance of something going wrong and corrupting the iPhoto library. It's best to keep separate photo collections as I've described.
