Using bt fon

MY husband has NOKIA E7 and with our previous broadband could use wifi internet
but he cant get connected since we changed to BT TOTAL BROADBAND
is this possible using this type of phone to connect to BT FON or OPENZONE
THANKS

You should be able to connect to FON or Openzone, but you will have to login manually as I am not aware of any application to assist you.
I assume that you can connect to your home hub using the normal secure connection.

  • Using BT Fon at home

Hi, I have started to use BT Fon in an upstairs bedroom where the wifi can't reach, mainly for a quick social media catch up. I have read some things on the internet which suggest that this could eat into my neighbours data usage for the month.
Is ok to use BT Fon at home for purpose noted? Will it affect my immediate neighbours?
    Thanks.

No it will not affect your neighbours usage, but you will eventually run out of WiFi minutes.
Why not extend your own wifi to upstairs, using one of the products from the BT Shop?

  • Is it possible to use BT Fon on Apple TV?

I have no problem using BT Fon with iPad or IPhone. Is it possible to use it when connecting to the Internet for Apple TV.
It allows me to connect to the wireless FON but does not allow me to ask iTunes store on Apple TV and it does not let me do AirPlay or Mirrowing.
    Any suggestions welcome.

If the developer has enabled for airplay then yes

  • Using BT FON with a different home router

I currently have a BT Home Hub and have opted in to BT FON, which I have been using quite a bit when away from home.
However, I am thinking about switching to a different router at home, for unrelated reasons.
Am I correct in my interpretation that I will still be able and allowed to use FON and OpenZone hotspots when away, even though this will mean that I cannot provide one myself?
Is it likely that this will continue to be the case in the future?

Rather than start a new thread I'll resurrect this one.
I'm a new BT Internet user and been on Infinity for 3 days. I've registered for Openzone and figured out how my HH3 transmits BTWiFi and BTWiFi with FON for other opted in users. All good stuff and working well.
A family relative has been on ADSL BT Internet for many years, originally he used an ancient desktop PC with a Voyager 205 connected via USB as his PC didn't have a working ethernet connection. After the 205 expired I gave him my old Voyager 2091, again connected via USB.
During his time with BT (Probably after changing contracts) he was sent two Home Hubs (Versions 1 & 2) whch he could not use as he didin't have a working ethernet connection.
So the Voyager 2091 expired last week, that was my last USB router. I installed a PCI ethernet adapter to his PC and used the newer Home Hub. The Home Hub connected to the internet fine (I could surf wirelessly for any period of time) but the connection between PC and HH would only last 8-10 mins after every reboot of the PC. There must have been some sort of issue between the HH and ethernet adapter as after I changed the HH for my spare Netgear there have been no more problems.
And the point of this post is to confirm that its still ok for him to sign up for BTWiFi/Openzone access even though he can't be a host as he's using a Netgear router. Would he be breaching any T&C?
    Thanks

  • Am I allowed to use Hotspots (FON etc)

Because I have an unresolved speed issue with my Home Hub 3, I am using a Thomson 585v7 router that I find is faster and more reliable than the Hub 3.   As I am not putting out a local hotspot for other BT BB users to use, does this prevent me from using FON/Openzone hotspots elsewhere.
I ask this question for two reasons, firstly, I have never been able to connect to a Fon/Openzone hotspot (always get 'logon details not recogised')  Secondly, does BT check to see if your (home) router is putting out a hotspot before it allows you to use the service?
I remember reading somewhere in their (BTs) guff "give a little, get a lot" so wondered if because my Thomson does not put out a hotspot then I am prevented from usieing hotspots myself.
Help and your thoughts on this matter would be much appreciated.

out of the many millions of BT users the posts you see on the forum are very few FON/ Openzone work very well for the majority
you comment on a speed issue if you would care to post on the broadband speed and connection board community members would be pleased to help you further

  • IP camera using BT FON - can it work?

I would like to be able to monitor a property I own when I am not there.  There is no landline in the property but I am able to access the BT FON service hosted by a friendly next door neighbour, who is a BT Broadband customer, as am I.
I'm thinking of an IP camera that could connect to the BT FON service and transmit images (or send emails with images attached) at predefined intervals, or if movement is detected.  This would do as a basic service, but more features would be nice!  If I could persuade the neighbour to add port forwarding to his router would this help?
Any information on this complex sibject much appreciated and I will happily share my implementation experiences if I get that far!

I would imagine you would find it impossible, unless the camera has the ability to provide the login details, and also logout at the end of the session.
It would need to have some form of scripting language, similar to the way the BT Wifi app works.
You might be able to do it if the camera was connected to a dedicated PC, which would need to be on all of the time.
It would still need some form of reliable scripting language to work properly.
Its not really what BT Wifi is intended for. A much better idea would be to use a 3G MiFi adapter, like the Zoom 4506, which takes a standard 3G mobile dongle.
Provide the device is in a 3G area, or 2G if you are not worried about speed, then you can connect the IP camera to it, and it will simply transmit when needed.
I have on of those devices, with a "Three" mobile dongle/SIM, which I use on holiday.
You just need to remember to top it up once a month.

  • When do I become eligible to use BT Fon spots?

I have signed up to BT today, but our activation date is 13th December. In the meantime, is it possible to use BT openzone and BT fon spots? I have an account username and password but it won't let my log on at the hotspots.
    Thanks,
    Chris

I asked this exact same question in the BB in home forum, it would be really useful for me to.
Seems like a potentially a good product differentiator for BT here... if they could enable as soon as you placed the order. No other ISP would be able to offer it quite the same way... O2 and orange could only come close with 3G but then that has assoicated hardware and provisioining costs...

  • When using twitter fon application, I keep getting the error message....

local cache db error (no such table:direct_messages)
What does this mean and how do I correct it? I am not an experienced user and I just spontaneously tried to reply to a tweet.

I should have said that I was using the TwitterFon app on my iPhone. I downloaded Twitterrific and discovered that it is a desktop app. Looks interesting.
I guess I will try both. I still need to figure out my iPhone TwitterFon app.

Why should anyone help you if you cannot be bothered to clearly communicate the problem you are having?
This is a user to user forum, no one here is going to do a darn thing to fix your problem.  That being said, we can offer suggestions on how to recitify the issue if you can be bothered to provide specifics of the problem.

  • Can the genius bar help me with recovering my deleted text messages ? I tried using Dr Fone but its not reading the iOS on my phone and I am too scared to back up my phone. Please help !

i deleted a bunch of texts by mistake and know they are in my phone's flash memory, how do i get them back ? should I back up to my i tunes ? Thanks

There is no way to get them back, unless you backed up your phone regularly to iTunes on your computer or to iCloud.

  • BT FON connection issue

Hello, I got my BT infinity installed on Thursday and it was working fine, but Saturday morning the infinity box was broken, currently a new box is being sent, but until the box is received I've been told we should use BT FON. I connected to it fine (Laptop) but my son's computer can't connect to it (web page). You connect to BT FON, then you would go on to a web browser and get directed to the page where you have to sign in using your bt email. On my son's computer he connects to BT FON with limited access, but when he goes onto a web browser it does not direct him to any page. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Linda.

  • Wifi no longer working after downloading BT Fon ap...

I downloaded the new App, but as a result I was losing connection with my home Wifi network.
In the end I uninstalled the App because everytime I tried to surf I ended up on the BT Fon webpage (why?), but it appears to have done something with my Wifi because now I can't connect to my home network at all - it says it's connected but it doesn't load anything.  If I switch off Wifi it will load using the mobile connection.
I have rebooted the phone a number of times, disconnected and reconnected the Wifi, and deleted my home network and reconnected it, but it still won't work.
I wish I'd never downloaded the App now!
From reading the reviews it appears this has happened to others as well.  Can anyone give me any idea how to rectify this and get my Wifi back, other than a factory reset - I am not a happy bunny!

So the handset browser shows no web pages at all even if you go into bookmarks and select a page?
Have you tried a different browser like Skyfire?
You may have to bite the bullet and reset regardless if all else fails, use HTC Sync to get the important stuff saved.
I have been using the Fon app on the hero and never had any issues with it at all, I have found it to be a handy little app.

  • Will using an older back up erase newer photos, txts, etc?

After I got my iphone 6 I installed the back up from my iphone 5. Everything was fine for a week, then it seems like most of my old apps and pictures disappeared from my iphone 6. My question is will I lose all the txt's and pictures that I took on my iphone 6 if I go back and installed that Iphone 5 backup again. For what it is worth I still have the iphone 5 with all the stuff on it as well.
    Thx mcbain

Sure you'll lose text messages and photos taken with your iPhone 6 if you restore your iPhone 6 with your iPhone 5 backup file. To keep the data on your iPhone 6, you can try the way by following the steps:
    Step 1. Backup your iPhone 6 to iTunes or iCloud;
    Step 2. Restore your iPhone 6 with the old backup of your iPhone 5;
Step 3. Use Dr.Fone for iOS to extract the backup file you've made from your iPhone 6 for text messages and photos. As for text messages, you can connect your iPhone 6 with your computer to save them to your iPhone 6 again. As for photos, you can use Dr.Fone for iOS to export them to your computer. If you need it on your iPhone 6 again, use iTunes to sync them to your iPhone 6.
