Using Built-in Audio/Mbox for recording on Garage Band - Need Help!
So I just found out that Pro Tools is not yet compatible with Leopard, so I'm working in Garage Band. I want to use live guitars and mics, and I'm curious about the inputs.
Obviously for guitars all I have is 1/4" cables. If I get an 1/8" converter for it, and put it into the headphone jack on my computer, will Garage Band recognize it?
What other interfaces for 1/4" does anyone suggest? I CANNOT get Mbox to work at all. All I get is 'Error code 28773.' Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks everyone -

I can listen on a m3u list using iTunes, VLC and other players, but I wish to listen on m3u lists as streaming music when I am on sites such as eMusic. For instance, I cannot listen on sample music at eMusic, but must download it first. Thus, it is not possible to listen on streaming music with Firefox. On the other hand, Opera and Safari handle m3u streaming music very well.
Can you listen streaming music or samples at eMusic using Firefox without downloading m3u-list on your local disk? -
How do I make the internal mic on my macbook air sustain better when recording on garage band? I have been recording an acoustic guitar and listening back, the mic seems to pick it up well naturally for 1 or 2 seconds then dramatically drop out.
I realised that you just need to go to System Preferences > Sound > Input > and uncheck 'Use ambient noise reduction'. mmm answered my own question.

hello. So I have used my iPod touch 4g for 2 years now and need to change the battery. My question is: will I lose everything I have on my iPod like my music,pictures and apps if I change the battery on my iPod touch 4g?
Thanks for answerIf you go to Apple, they will not replace your battery, but exchange your iPod for a refurbished iPod of the same model with a new battery. Therefore you will lose everything that is not backed up. If you change it yourself or have a third party change it, you will most likely not lose anything (but still best to make a backup as lllaass suggested).

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you! -

My daughter is working on a group project creating a podcast with GarageBand. I have GB 08 on my Mac, computers at school have GB 09. If I upgrade to GB 11 can she then export project and use it on a GB 09 equipped computer?

Didn't work in what way. Are you unable to start it up? Does it start but then freezes? Does the screen stay black when you turn it on?

I can record into GB using my Mac's built-in mic, but when I try to record with an external mic, using a Tascam US-122, although the GB meters show that GB is hearing the sounds, it will not record the sounds. I have downloaded the updated drivers for OSX 10.3 from the Tascam web site, but Tascam doesn't seem to offer any more recent update than that. I am running OSX 10.4.7. Is this version of the OS just too new, or am I missing some technical detail/work around? Thanks.Hi,

Yes, Tascam US-122 shows up in the Garage Band Audio input and output, as well as in the Sound I & O selections in System Prefs. Negative on Intel. I am using an aluminum G-4 PowerBook with 2 GB of RAM and no other apps open when I am in Garage Band. I am running OSX 10.4.7.
I am now getting a tiny bit of audio output on playback when I record into Garage Band, but only if I turn the output volume up to 11 on the Tascam unit. However the fault seems neither to be the Tascam itself, nor the external vocal mic (a Carvin knock-off of a Shure SM 58). All of the wiring, the connections and the powered speakers are functioning perfectly. If I turn the monitor on and sing or speak into the mic, I get all the volume I could ever ask for out of the speakers, with fine clarity and no static, etc. that might indicate faulty wiring or loose connectors. But when I record into GB with the record levels turned all the way up in the System Prefs Sound pane, Garage Band, and on the US-122, the playback comes out barely audible...even though all the VU meters are maxing out when I record, and the playback level is going off the scale during playback. Any ideas? I am flummoxed.

Using imic to transfer tapes to itunes via Garage Band
The problem is, the song file is way too big. Around 35-50MB
How can I make these files smaller?
Is there a way to compress them or import them differently.
Currently I am just using the 'import to itunes' choice from the Garage band 'file' which is convenient.
This is my first visit to a forum, so excuss the technically deficient language. It is a wonderful vehicle for sharing info. though and I am excited about learning more. JaygeDuh! I swear that wasn't there when I looked before-okay it probably was and I missed it.

i must confess i haven't checked GBv10, but all previous versions (and i'm guessing GBv10 as well) have only supported MIDI-IN, so all you need is to run the keyboard's OUT to the interface's IN -

Why can't I enable an audio track for recording? (It won't let me)
I want to record VO but PP won't let me...
On Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite in System Preferences:
• Sound Input is set to C-Media USB Headphone Set (an Alesis usb mic...works fine for VO in Final Cut Pro 7)
• Output is set to Headphone port
In Premiere Pro CC Audio Hardware Preferences:
• ASIO Hardware is set to "System Default Input/Output"
• I have also tried "C-Media USB Headphone Set but this, too, doesn't work
• With "System Default I/O" selected, Output Mapping is set to "Adobe Desktop Audio" (only choice), and shows:
• "Built-in Output: Headphones 1
• "Built-in Output: Headphones 2
• "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Left
• "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Right
all four of these have a couple of square icons to the right.
In order to record VO, I first need to "enable track for recording" in the Audio Track Mixer. There are no in or out points set in my timeline and the tracks are not locked or solo'd or anything. So why can't I select the audio track I want to use to record VO? I click it but there is no response. I just want to know why this software is not doing what it's designed to do.is I learn still around -? That was VERY HANDY!

How to enable Audio Track for recording podcast
I'm trying to use Garageband to create podcast in iLife '06. When I select female voice and the red record button, I get this message "No Audio Track is enabled for recording". Adding new track from the Tracks menu does not help. Can anyone help please?
Um, er, that's a Windows app. The best way to record Skype on a Mac is Ecamm's Call Recorder. Just install and you get a record button in Skype!
