Using built-in textures?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Keynote's built-in textures (Library/Application Support/iWork '08/Content/Fills/ and then Images or Textures --> show package contents of the files in those folders. There are nice fills and textures, just don't know how to use them short of copying the graphics files from the Show Package Content folders and putting them somewhere else. For some reason, I'm thinking they should simply be available in an easier fashion.

The textures are just video clips, so there will be a limit to what you can achieve with retiming them.
You can make your own and use the Import Background Movie function to bring them into LiveType.

Using built-in Strings

InDesign stores many strings. I want to use some of them in my UI (to avoid the need to translate) In Scripting you can use "ID/....", If I just put in the string I find that its translated but I get an assert in debug build that string is not translated. If I put in fr file then it doesnt get translated to correct string. How to I get around this issue.
Also using debug build is there anyway to get a list of strings defined in InDesign Database?

Besides other post, to use SQL Server Express for development work, you just need to specify the data source (SQL server's name) and authentication details in a connection string. For more information about SQL Server Express connection string, you can review

Also please note that SQL Server Express edition has some limitations, for example: only one CPU can be used by the express edition, the maximum size of a database is 4 GB (10GB in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and higher versions of SQL Server Express),
it can only use up to 1GB of RAM.

THe built in iSight will actually work with iMovie if you have the version of iMovie which comes with iLife 6. (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61929 for a mention)
There is a slightly clumsy "workaround" available for use with earlier versions of iMovie, but you need a dv cam to use it - see http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051217210335199
I gather that "EvoCam" - http://www.evological.com/evocam.html - will also work directly with the built in iSight.
So too, should recent versions of QuicktimePro.
As for other apps, tell us what you wish to do with it. We may be able to come up with some suggestions.

Using built-in with global variables

I am trying to setup built-in source code control for LabVIEW. It seems to be OK except in one case:
Is it possible to use built-in with global variables ?
VIs that use a global variable are supposed to be updated automatically when global variable is modified but what happen when VIs are checked-in ? LabVIEW cannot updated them. Is it necessary to check out all VIs before modifying global variable ? This is not convenient if global variable is used in more than 100 VIs !
Is there another solution ? Can Perforce resolve this problem ?

You can still use and update global variables while they are checked in to SSC. The default values will still be saved in SSC but they can still be modified and read by other vi's.

SX20 and SX10 best practices for small conference rooms using built in Display Speakers

Hi,
Im planning to deploy some small meeting rooms using SX10 and SX20 codecs, I was wondering if someone could give me some key points to consider:
1. Display recommendation, nice built in speakers, low delay (goog performance with codec echo canceller) I wish to use a 60 - 70 inch Led TV (not yet defined which brand and model) I would like to receive some feedback about nice performance displays with nice audio and echo cancellation performance based on your experience.
2. What would be the drawbacks of using SX10 and SX20 in larger meeting rooms maybe 10 or 12 people?
3. When to use external microphone? or when is recommended to use only internal microphone?

Pretty well any modern display should work well - different people are going to have different ideas about whether the speakers are any good or not, so you'll have to listen to a few yourself and make up your mid what you think is "better". The echo cancellation can be tweaked manually on the codec to suit the display if required (rather than leaving it on the "auto" setting which, in our installations, has caused more troubles than it's worth).
The main drawback of using the SX10, or the cheaper of the range of the SX20s, is the camera and the amount of zoom. In a larger room, you're not going to get a good close up view with a 2.5x camera. I'd suggest for a bigger room, you look at the 12x cameras.
As a general rule - use additional microphone(s) when you can't get someone within a 3m radius one of the other microphones. So in a larger room, you may need many.

Need to Set Current Row when Using Built-in Data Control Delete Operation?

I have an af:table bound to a ViewObject (VO) collection (no Entity Object) - within each row, I include a column that contains a 'Remove' command button so the user can remove the row. I add the command button by dragging/dropping the built-in delete operation from the VO on the Data Control Palette. When I use this as is (no changes), the Remove button always deletes the first row in the collection, not the selected row. Do I need to add code to set the current row, and if so can someone please provide an example and specify where I need to add? thanks.

I just want to delete (or remove) it from the VO. Data for this VO is not on the database.
The function is doing what I want it to do (delete from the VO), its just always deleting the first row, versus the selected row. I select the command button next on a column next to an item further down in the list and it deletes the first row. The problem is setting the selected row to be removed - I thought setting the current row would be taken care of by the SelectListener?

How to use built-in webcam for Skype?

How does one use the built-in webcam online? My iMac's webcam can be accessed through Photo Booth, but only, it appears, to take photos or brief movies. I've searched this forum, but don't find how one can use the webcam online such as in Skype. A program called iSight is mentioned in several posts, but my year-old iMac doesn't have that program. Any clues on how to use the camera beyond Photo Booth? Many thanks.

You can use Skype with your iMac and iSight.
Go here, download Skype
The Skype application will be installed to your Applications folder. Launch Skype. You will need to create a username and password. Once you have logged into Skype from the Menu Bar at the top of your screen click Skype/Preferences and selec the Video tab. Click the pop up menu where you see: Camera and select: Built-in iSight

IDoc to cXML using built-in SAP XSLT Processor

Hi ABAP experts,
i have a requirement to send an IDoc to an external system, the external system expecting it to be in cXML standard - without using XI/PI
has someone of you done this before?
I was looking at the option to utilize the built-in SAP XSLT processor (CALL TRANSFORMATION) since it supports XML to XML and ABAP to XML transformations
so the flow would either be
IDoc --> XSLT --> cXML (preferred)
IDoc --> XML (using XML port) --> XSLT --> cXML
is this possible?
Also, can the cXML be sent using the XML HTTP port in we21?
Your tips suggestions would be highly appreciated

Have you had a look at class CL_IDOC_XML1? This class does the transformation IDoc -> XML for you.
The next step would be to create the required XSLT transformation for the mapping IDoc-XML -> cXML.

Can't use built in volume manager in PCMan File Manager

Trying to use the built in volume manager in PCMan FM causes 2 error messages to appear. They are unreadable (the title bar says "Unable t" that's it). An error like the one that follows appears in the the console (or whatever Eterm is) for each:
(pcmanfm:3084): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Error on line 1 char 57: '-' is not a valid character following a '<' character; it may not begin an element name
After those a third message box appears and says: "Directory doesn't exist". That box is not accompanied by any error text on the console.
I assume the first to say something like "Unable to mount" but I don't know WHY.
The problem does NOT occur if I mount it as root (using sudo) and access it that way. This however then requires any further access to be made as root if anything useful is to be done with the drive (copying files, writing to it, etc.)
I'm running Fluxbox as my WM, if that matters.

Hmm...the wiki refers to files I don't have. /etc/hal/fdi/policy and /etc/hal/fdi/information are both empty directories (even when viewed as root). Any thoughts?
I feel like an idiot now. I should have guessed i needed to put those files in.

Can't Use Built-in Ethernet-HELP!!!

I am trying to connect a slot loading 350 mhz imac to the internet through the built-in ethernet for a friend that needs it, but the network status pane (OSX.3 Panther) keeps saying the ethernet cable is not plugged in. I've tried several different Cat 5 ethernet cables and it still says this, so we can't connect to the isp (with cable modem). It also says the internal modem is not working, I get the red light next to it and the built-in ethernet buttons in Network status. I've tried direct connections to two different external cable modems, and three different ethernet cables, I think the problem is a software issue that needs correcting. I just got through with a clean install of OS 9.1 and OSX.3, but the network still does not recognize the ethernet cable as being plugged in.
Other things I've tried: zapping the PRAM, and resetting the nv-ram, but to no avail (as suggested by other posts I've come across). I ran Tech Tool 4 on it however,and the Network test PASSED.
Isn't there something I can do in Preferences or terminal so the network can see the built-in ethernet? I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

You can easily restore without updating to the latest OS - simply don't purchase it. You can restore from iTunes - on the Summary page, just click on Restore.
As to your WiFi problem (and that is what you most likely experiencing) tell us more about the network you are using, the hardware, who the heck your ISP is and so on. It may be as simple as whoever owns the network is blocking access to Apple sites.
I am assuming by built in sites, you are referring to the App Store, iTunes, etc. correct?
If your network indicates that you are logged in, tap Settings > WiFi. Does your network have a check mark next to it? If it does, tap the blue arrow (>) next to the name. Does your IP address start with 169.x or 192.x?

Using built in Fax modem to fax out

I'm going start this by saying... Only if Macos X had a proper Chooser like function like classic Mac OS, and that the new Macos X help system is not as good as Apple Guide of Classic (disappointing seeing X was the meant to be the be all end all of all operating systems)...
But anyways, seeing that I have an iMac at work that only boots up in X I have been struggling to get the send/receive faxs from the computer.
I have diagramed the partial setup I have and wish to use the built in Modem that's inside the iMac Flat 17" G4 version to send receive Faxes.
Here is the scenario.
- I have a setup consisting of iMac G4 with X.10
- I have a managed to see outside world via ADSL hookup
- The ADSL line and the Fax line are two different numbers
- Currently Only the Fax is connected directly to the Fax point, I need to also link up the Mac to the same point. Is there a splitter for such a thing?
- I have set up the Fax so I can actually print from the Mac to it
- I have set up the Fax so I can only send/receive faxes from/to the cannon
- I have set up the printer/fax Preferences so to receieve fax that are based on the Fax point # and the the check box is check for allow to receieve faxes
- I have FAXstf installed on my machine, does it conflict with the new System Faxing properties found in X.10?
- I followed the directions presented to me from the Help docos, and the system always told me, 'Fax will be transmitted after disconnecting from Network', and it never did anything.
What are the correct procedures to follow in order to get this thing to work? Images would be nice... Reading docos isn't my thing, they remind me of the online help which MS has in place for all their applications... Web Docs is not as intuitive as guiding a user through the process like Apple Guide used to do. Just a suggestion to the Apple developers out there;/

I need the dedicated fax line due to the security system using the phone line, and that the fax should be used for faxing and telephones used for talking, unlike the previous guys comments... POTS means nothing!... People still fax you know, just like they still print... and gee the printer has been around for a little while longer than fax
But anyways... I tried to do the Fax PDF, and thats where it gets stuck... it tries to ring out but no can do. I tried this using a direct link from Mac to Fax point. Seeing that it didn't work I then hooked back the MFM to the fax point in order for the company to receive/send faxes at least from the machine.
The only reason as to my enquiry in the discussion forum is to see if I can set it up so both the MFM (fax) and the imac can send/receieve faxes at the same time or seperately. It would be beneficial to receive and send from the imac, as I'm sure we all know that printing out documents can get lost, especially when you just have one copy, and so this would at least keep an electronic copy of the item. However, during the evenings, it would be ok to have the fax machine recieves faxes or have the fax machine send faxes during the times when the computer can't. The imac is an administrative computer and at times the engineering guys need someting quick, but whats to say that the administration lady can't do it at that point in time... then they need to fax it.
The point is, is there a device which I can hook up so that the 56k fax/modem device in the imac and the MFM (fx) can go through the same point?
