Using C5-00 as a modem to call another modem

So previous models of Nokia were able to provide Dial Up Networking or DUN. I need to use a software program to dial modem numbers and instead of using the laptop's modem, I have used the BT succesfully in the past with older Nokia's. Now I'm back with Nokia, can the C5-00 do the same?
I'v tried various settings in windows and can't see any settings on the phone so I'm starting to believe the phone can't do this unless anyone else can help.
I don't want to use the phone to connect to the Internet (which is what all of my searches have shown!), just to use the phone to dial a number like a good ole fashioned modem used to.
Thanks, Keith

The phone probably does not support circuit-switched data (CSD) calls (which is what doing an analog modem to modem call would require). I don't think Nokia's 3G models have supported that in years (if ever).

  • Using iPhone as wireless 3g modem ? possible ?

    I have the older iPhone, and am seriously considering a new 3g iPhone. However, I have read in some reviews that the new iPhone 3g canNOT be used as a wireless 3g modem to connect your MacBook Pro to the internet. I would ideally like to wirelessly (using the built-in wlan), connect my wlan MBP to the internet. If that cannot work, could I connect an iPhone using a wired usb connection to my laptop, and then connect to the internet ?
    Thanks

    This is not allowed right now.
    (its called tethering - google for that)
    Someone made an app-store app that did this, but apple yanked it. AT&T wants another $30 per month for a PC Data plan.
    This may re-appear some day, because it is technically possible, just not currently allowed by Apple and ATT.

    how can use iphon4 as a 3G modem in mac or pc?

    It's called a "Personal Hotspot", otherwise knows as 'tethering'.
    You must be using a supported carrier, they must support the feature, and you have to subscribe to a plan that allows tethering. Once all of these conditions are met, the option will appear in settings.
    Contact your carrier.
    As for how to connect your computer to it once it's working, read the manual. It is detailed there.

    Could my ipad2 connects to the Internet using SIM card or USB Modem?

    If you have a 3G iPad, it can connect to the internet using cellular data. As the iPad has no USB port, you can't connect a USB modem. You can use what is called a MiFi, though. They connect to cellular service and create a personal WiFi hotspot.

  • How do I use my 8300 as a modem for my laptop

    Hi all,
    I'm new to this forum. This is my first post...
    I'm trying to set up my 8300 smartphone to be used as a tethered modem for my laptop to be able to get the full internet content anywhere with in cell coverage.
    Question 1:
    I got instructions from the 'BlackBerry HELP' icon on the phone (my question was: how do i use my device as a modem) which seemed very complete. The modem is dial-up and when I try to connect I get Error 718 (basically a timeout error).
    Can anyone help?
    Question 2:
    Since this uses dial-up, would I be using my cell phone minutes?
    Thank you, Lar

    hello,
    first thing is to look on the forum if people have already solved your issue. In this case, the tethering subject is quite frequent. You will certainly find your answer among these discussions :

  • Is there any way to enable rSAP, use the iPhone as a modem, create sms folders, and show the day's calender on the home screen?

    Hi folks
    Had iPhone for a while and generally happy, but it seems I still need to keep my old nokia E72 because I cannot seem to use the iPhone as a modem, nor does it support rSAP.
    Also, while I like the threaded sms view, I'd also like the option to create sms folders to stash away my banking sms info, all of which comes from different numbers, and filled the sms inbox with hundreds of messages.
    Lastly, having the meeting for the day diplayed somewhere on the home screen would be great if there were a way to do it. Yes, I can go into calender easy enough, but unless I develop the habit of checking it all the time, I often forget about a meeting whereas on the old nokia, it was always displayed.
    What gives with the lack of flash support? Maybe ol Steve dislikes adobe, but it seems like a serious lack to me. Even the old nokia has some flash support.
    Given that, I must say I love the seperate calenders and contacts. It's great to be able to keep home contacts seperate from work ones, but still have them on the same phone. Email is great two - full html support seems like a given but it works really well.

    rSAP has largely been supplanted by ABAP, which the iPhone supports. Most modern smartphones, including the iPhone do NOT store any information on the SIM.
    SMS inboxes. Not much to say. I've never had a desire to do this. I understand it could be useful, but it's unlikely to change.
    As for meetings on the home screen... Wait for iOS 5
    Flash: it's not JUST that Steve doesn't like flash. Adobe has failed to produce a workable version of Flash for iOS. Blame has to go to both sides.  I say good riddance to it.

  • How to use an authenticated user for a proxy call

    Dear all,
    I am currently working on a JEE application where the user needs to authenticate (for this I have configured the web.xml).
    Now inside this application I need to do a proxy call to a PI webservice.
    I would like to use the user credentials of the already logged in user in order to call the proxy.
    What I don't want to do is to use a service user for the proxy call.
    The code I am trying to call looks something like this:
         private IntegratedConfigurationIn getPort() throws Exception{
              IntegratedConfigurationIn port = null;
              try {
                   IntegratedConfigurationInService service = null;
                   service = new IntegratedConfigurationInService();
                   port = (IntegratedConfigurationIn) service.getIntegratedConfigurationIn_Port();
                  BindingProvider bp = (BindingProvider)port;
                  bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY, user);
                  bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY, password);
                  if (url.length() != 0)
                       bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, url);
              catch (Exception ex){
                   ex.printStackTrace();
              return port;
    The examples I found to retrieve the userdata pointed to codes similar to this one:
    public HttpServletRequest getHttpRequest() throws Exception {
              // Get runtime context
              Properties props = new Properties();
              props.put("domain", "true");
              Context initialContext = new InitialContext(props);
              ApplicationWebServiceContext wsContext = (ApplicationWebServiceContext) initialContext
                        .lookup(" /wsContext/ApplicationWebServiceContext");
              HttpServletRequest req = wsContext.getHttpServletRequest();
              return req;
    com.sap.security.api.IUser sapUser = com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser(getHttpRequest(), null);
              IUser ep5User = com.sapportals.wcm.util.usermanagement.WPUMFactory.getUserFactory().getEP5User(sapUser);
    Now I don't know how to bring it togehter and how to use an authenticated user for the BindingProvider.
    I would appreciate any hints or ideas.

    Peter,
    from the first screenshot, what I understood is that, you are calling an inbound PI web service that is intended to create an integrated configuration object (this is used for whole lot of other reason completely) but not actually calling a development web service.
    For this, you would have to generate your client classes from the WSDL provided by the PI developer for that particular service. Once you get those client classes generated, you could used the method provided in the other screenshot to extract the user and password and call the intended web service.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

    Hi. I am trying to use Bridge to make web galleries. There used to be something on PS for that but now I cant find it in PS so I was advised to use Bridge.  However, there is something called Output Module (AOM) that is missing from my Bridge.  I downloaded this.  The instructions say :Copy the Adobe Output Module folder (not the AOM_Package_[OS] folder) into the Bridge CC Extensions folder in the appropriate location:
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CC Extensions
    Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CC Extensions.  However there is noplace on my Macbook Air running Yosemetie that has this /Library/Applications SUpport/Bridge CC Extensions. Can anyone advise?

    That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

    I use 3110 as a usb modem in my Mac,but it can't work,the Mac can find two usb modem when I plug my 3110,each can't work,I see the log find my modem no responses for the AT command,so it can't work,my phone is good,beacuse I can use it in Windows as usb modem, and I also can use bluetooth modem in Mac,after modify isyn ,I can use isyn when i use bluetooth but can't work when i use usb cable,and I hope i can use usb modem ,is anybody use 3110 as usb modem?thank's your help!

    Hi,
    Listed below is the step by step intructions to configure the Nokia device as a modem to a mac.
    Steps:
    Connecting your Mac to the internet is convenient and easy with your a compatible Nokia S60 device. You'll need a Nokia S60 device that supports a 2G or 3G data connection (such as GPRS or HSDPA), a compatible Mac (with the latest OS X), a USB cable for your Nokia device or a Bluetooth-enabled Mac, and a network subscription with your mobile service provider.
    To set up your device you'll need to know your operator's Access Point Name (APN) and have the packet data service enabled. For help with this please contact your operator.
    In Settings select and open Connection >Select and open Packet data > Select and open Access point >Type in your operator's Access Point Name
    Exit Settings. Your device is now ready to be used as a modem for your Mac!
    Bluetooth Connection: Pairing between Mac and Device using bluetooth, follow the instruction from here: http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-as-a-modem/connect-to-your...
    Note: Preferred mode is USB as it much faster than Bluetooth.
    Connect the device and then go to System preferences- >Network- >Select Device (Nokia XXX)
    Click on Advanced Tab > Modem tab
    - Vendor : Nokia
    -Model:GPRS (GSM/3G)
    -Telephone Number: *99***1# (contact your operator to get this settings)
    -APN: airtelgprs.com (contact your operator to get this settings)
    CID: 1
    Once connected it will be highlighted in green.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Cheers
    Sandy

  • Use subflow or redirect step when calling another script

    I have a main AA script and it calls another script when caller press option 6.  When a caller presss 6 it is only transferring the call to the sub script.  it does not return any values to the main script.
    In this situation, is it better to use subflow or redirect step.  i am think redirect step but just want to check with the user community.
    thanks in advance.

    Either will work. Here are a few thoughts to consider in no particular order:
    Subflows count toward the originally triggered scripts' maximum step count. If you have a lot of steps, this may result in an exception. Redirecting the call restarts this counter since the newly triggered script will have its own counter.
    NOTE: You might think that this is exactly why the Trigger Application step in Synchronous mode was created for. Alas, there is a bug which renders this useless in 7.0(1): CSCtd72562
    Redirecting the call will result in the user hearing ringback. This would occur because of the recommended two-second delay step following the Accept step of a step to prevent a race condition. I find this to be irritating enough to shy away from it mid-way through an IVR if possible.
    Subflows are more difficult to debug. You need to have sufficient code embedded in them such that you can trigger and reactively debug them.
    Be sure that the redirect destination of an actual CCX Trigger (CTI Route Point). Do not set it to a value in UCM that is translated or forwarded back to CCX. This results in a race condition which CCX does not handle well.
    If you were asking me as an individual my answer would be this: Is the code small enough and not reused elsewhere? If yes, then put it in the first script and avoid this topic all together. If it's reused in a bunch of places from multiple scripts and does not represent a large quantity of steps: use a subflow. Otherwise use Trigger Application if you're on a new enough version or Call Redirect if you're not.

  • Using the iPhone as a modem

    I am a current O2 customer in the UK and I have used various Nokia phones (and IR & bluetooth) to connect an iPaq and various laptops to a mainframe computer (ie. a modem on the end of a standard UK landline phone number).
    At times I had to wrestle with O2 customer support to sort out the "modem" capability and it became apparent this ability was a configuration on my O2 account (I swapped between Orange and O2) in addition to the phones ability.
    Most of the discussion here seems to be generated by US AT&T customers where it seems AT&T dont allow this sort of customer usage. O2 do.
    So the million dollar question is, will we be able to use the iPhone as a modem in the UK to access other computers, with handhelds & laptops?
    Cheers
    Eric

    for what it is worth, I asked O2 that question as for me it will be the deciding factor in whether I buy one or not. Their response (the relevant bit) is pasted below and is very non-committal as to whether they are not allowed to say or simply don't know.
    +Thank you for emailing us to find out if the iPhone can be used as a modem.+
    +I'm unable to tell you if you the iPhone can be used as a modem. For full detail on the iPhone, please visit the manufacturers website by clicking on the link below:+

    So come on Apple, you have a technically near-perfect product, an eager customer base willing to cough up their money for your product rather than a competitors at a moment's notice and a complete lack of information from or interest on your part in providing the last little function of what your customers need! Even if the connection is only EDGE speed rather than broadband, for those of us who use your laptop products as a necessity on the road, it at least provides a way of connecting our laptops to the net to access functions the iPhone really can't do (such as databases and SOA access) and really wouldn't want it to.
    Put everyone out of their misery and open up with the information we need and open up the iPhone to what it really can do.

  • In SQLScript, how to use EXEC to call another procedure with parameters in procedure?

    Hi experts,
    In SQLScript, How to use EXEC to call another procedure with input and output parameters in procedure?thanks very much

    Hi Sagar,
    thank you! I generate another procedure with an input parameter and an output parameter in a procedure. Then i need to call the generated procedure using EXEC. Here is my code:
    create procedure ftest1(out sum_num bigint)
    as
    begin
    declare fa_output bigint;
    declare v_sql_drop varchar(200);
    declare v_sql varchar(500);
    declare cursor c_cursor1 for select num from TABLE1;
    --v_sql_drop := 'drop procedure fe';
    --exec v_sql_drop;
    v_sql := 'create procedure fe(in i_num bigint,out o_num bigint) as begin';
    v_sql := :v_sql || ' o_num := :i_num * 2 + :i_num * :i_num;';
    v_sql := :v_sql || ' end';
    exec v_sql;
    open c_cursor1;
    for c_item as c_cursor1 do
    exec 'call fe(c_item.num,o_num=>fa_output)';
    if sum_num is null then
    sum_num := fa_output;
    else
    sum_num := :sum_num + fa_output;
    end if;
    end for;
    close c_cursor1;
    end;
    The underline code is using exec to call the generated procedure. But this method cannot work. Any suggestion? thanks again!
