Using Calculation in Acrobat Professional 9

Hil, I hope you can help me with this problem. The client want me to do this:
Candidate will be creating PDF forms for the Corporate and DC appraisal process. The PDF forms will need to be created with calculations from existing Word Doc. forms.
Reason for the need: The current appraisal forms are in word documents without calculations built in for ratings.  They need forms to be self calculating so that they do not have to manually calculate grades.  The current files in word are also graphic rich that does not make for a user friendly form.
The version of Adobe Acrobat Professional they use is 9
Please help me....Here is my email address [email address deleted by host]
Best,
Vernon

  • Using an adobe acrobat professional lic for a standard version.

I have a question in regards to EULA. I have 10 machines and 5 acrobat std lic and 5 acrobat professional lic. Can i use the professional lic and install standard on those machine only. for example can i install acrobat standard on all ten machine even though i have 5 lic for standard and 5 for professional. I know professional and standard have different .exe files. but can a professional lic be used as a standard lic. meaning can i downgrade

I don't have an answer to this particular case, and I am not a lawyer,
but in general the answer would be no: rights to downgrade would have
to be explicit, as no rights not granted by the EULA apply (unless
    additionally granted by law).
However, Adobe Customer Service might be willing and may be able to
    grant permission.

  • Making forms writable using Designer (or Acrobat Professional)

    Hello,
I am trying to fill a PDF form created with Designer ES 9, with the pdftk utility and data contained in an xfdf file, but to no avail.
How do you make forms fillable in Designer?
When I open the form in Adobe Reader, it tells me that data can't be saved in it and that I can only fill it by hand and print it.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
When you create a form in LC Designer you end up with an XFA Form in a PDF wrapper. Some viewers (like Apple Preview and others) either cannot display the form properly or will create problems when the form is opened again in Acrobat.
I would recommend that the form be opened in either Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader.
If the user has Reader then there are restrictions. For example the user can open the form, fill it in and print it. But they cannot save it. There is a solution called "Reader enabling" the form. You can do this in Acrobat v9 Standard (or Acrobat v8 Professional), but you are limited to 500 data processes for that form. Alternatively you can apply the Reader rights in a server product called LC Reader Extensions ES2. This has cost implications and you should contact the Adobe rep in your area.
    Here is a summary:

  • Get location/coordinates for a field using JavaScript in Acrobat Professional

    Good day,
I am looking for a way to get the coordinates of a text field.
I would like to create a listbox and set the location of the listbox top left to the text fields bottom left coordinates, I have had a look at the scripting guides ... could not turn up anything.
I know how to create and populate this listbox using the JavaScript code, only problem is, to get the coordinates of the text box.

    Try this:
    1. Move or change the dimensions of the text boxes on the extracted page in the configuration that you want.
    2. When you are satisfied with the new configuration, modify the following JavaScript to use the names of the text boxes that you want to include on the page.
//find_rect //find coordinates of text boxes whose names are included in the var rct,ary = ["fld_1","fld_2","fld_3","fld_4"]; //...etc.
    for (j = 0; j<ary.length; j++){
    console.println(ary[j]);
    rct = this.getField(ary[j]).rect;
    for (i= 0; i< rct.length; i++) console.println(rct[i]);
    3. Add the modified code to the document level of form. (as a doc level javascript but with no function name or brackets included.
    4. When you run the code, the coordinates for the fields that you have included in the array will be printed in the console window:
    Example:
    fld_1
    21
    777
    296
    717
    fld_2
    30
    769
    65
    729

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 Questions

    Hi, there.
I'm new to this kind of programme. So, maybe I ask some strange questions.
    1. I bought my notebook with Adobe Reader 7.0 installed. A week ago I had to convert a PDF document into a JPEG one. So, I downloaded a free programme to do it. But the result had a watermark on it that brought me to uninstall that programme. Today I've installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0. Can I uninstall my Adobe Reader 7.0?
    2. I can't remember which printer the uninstalled free programme used. There are two printers now, i.e. Adobe PDF and PDF-File. Which one is used by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 so that I can delete the other?
    3. My friend told me a month ago that there's an apart setup, i.e. a so-called PDF_Printer. He realized this when his mate explored the installation CD. Is this a case that I have to know?
    Thanks before for answering.
    Cheers.

    1. Yes but you "may" end up having to reinstall Acrobat. I believe they share some resources.
    2. Adobe PDF is installed with Acrobat
    3. Sounds like the PDF printer is already installed (see answer #2)

  • SERIOUS ADOBE ACROBAT PROFESSIONAL 8 ERROR

    Hi
I am using (or TRYING to use!) Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
But every time it loads up I receive the following pop-up message:
"A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot continue. Please re-install the application and try again."
I click OK, and then another message appears:
    "Acrobat.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x05bf1243" referenced memory at "0x12284e88". The memory could not be "written".
Click on OK to terminate the program"
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but the error comes back!
What can I do?? Can ANYONE help?!!

I've been watching this thread hoping to find an answer to nearly the same issue... "Acrobat Cannot Continue At This Time Until You Open Photoshop" (?)
It doesn't matter which application I open... Acrobat is worhtless and closes in roughly 5 seconds. Hard to believe Adobe's been unable to duplicate this in-house? Now I'm afraid to uninstall it and reinstall ver. 7. I already had to FORMAT my Vista install and deal with Microsoft requiring personal information before allowing me to authorize my copy of Vista Ultimate a second time, just to get Photoshop CS3 installed on my PC following the beta fiasco.
And to think I installed Vista in the first place because I wanted to be able to use Bridge 2.0....
Jeff, why couldn't there have been a list of files and registry entries to be removed posted? Some sort of procedure to help out those of us that didn't install the Photoshop beta to the default drive or directory? The WinClean tool did NOT work for me, (or several others I'm aware of).
As it looks, the same thing is happening now with Acrobat 8. Those of us with problems are out of luck after spending a lot of money on a productivity suite of tools. After all the problems I had with getting Photoshop CS3 on my computer from Creative Suite, I installed it from a stand-alone version before installing the rest of the suite to gain use of Dreamweaver, etc., (which ALSO crashes my entire system every 2nd or 3rd time I use it!).
I don't mean to be ragging on it, but I am a bit confused after using Adobe products for as long as they've been around...
    Thanks.

  • Problem in creating PDF of Website using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

I am trying to create PDF file of full website using "Create PDF from Web Page..." option, in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
It is creating PDF but the page alignments/text/images alignments are lost and doesn't look good.
Can any one help to create the PDF same as webpage look and feel.
    Thanks.

Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

  • Error using the distiller in Acrobat Professional 8 to create a PDF from an Aspose.Words .doc docume

    Hi,
We use Aspose.Words to create Microsoft Word (.doc) documents from one of our Intranet applications. These documents are then further modified in Microsoft Word and are then converted to PDF files using the distiller in Acrobat 8 Professional.
The distiller ends with a message saying it encountered an error and could not complete the conversion.
If we create a document directly in Microsoft Word and then use the distiller to convert it to a PDF, the distiller runs just fine.
Would you have any idea of what might be causing this problem? The distiller gives no indication of the cause of the problem, only that is one!
I also tried using the Create Adobe PDF Online service to convert the same Aspose.Words .doc file and it worked fine.
Any help you can give on this would be most appreciated!
    Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I mistakenly referred to the distiller.
We are using PDF Maker in Word. It appears as an icon on the Word toolbar once Acrobat Professional 8 has been installed. When I open the Aspose.Words .doc document in Word and click on the toolbar icon, PDF Maker launches and starts the conversion program and then Microsoft Word ends with their standard message "Microsoft Word has encountered an error and needs to close...".
I also tried going into Acrobat Professional 8 and chose File --> Create PDF --> From File off the menu bar. I selected the same Aspose.Words .doc document file to convert and once again the conversion process started, but this time it gave me the following error message:
    "Unable to convert PDF file.
Invalid page range or conversion setting parameters."
When I clicked on OK to clear the message, I got the following:
"Acrobat could not open 'xxxxx.doc' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF or use the Acrobat toolbar found in Microsoft applications."
I assume that since the on-line service can successfully convert this document, it is a supported file type and is not damaged (not sent as an email attachment, so no issue there). I tried opening the document in Word and printing it to Adobe PDF and that worked, but my users really like the convenience of the Acrobat toolbar so I would like them to be able to use it to create PDF files from Aspose.Words documents.
I am using all the default settings. Is there some setting I should be changing?
As I mentioned earlier, I did try the Create Adobe PDF on-line service with this same file and it worked just fine, so there seems to be a difference between how the on-line service does the conversion and how PDF Maker does it. Printing the document to Adobe PDF also works, so again, there must be some difference in the way PDF Maker does it.
Any guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks very much!

  • Could not get exact contents from pdf using adobe acrobat professional

    Hi,
I am using acrobat professional to extract contents from a pdf into HTML. During extraction of pdf into HTML some contents are getting rendered as images. But with pdf to xml extraction i can get the exact contents. But i need HTML file from pdf. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

You might want to see if you can select the background with the object touchup tool. If so, can you then just delete the selected object. May take a while to go through the document, but if it solves the problem you are ahead. You may be able to select it with JavaScript and repeat the process. My point of using the object touchup tool is that it may not be a background set by Acrobat, but something that is simply labeled as an image from the Acrobat viewpoint.

  • HT4356 Fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

I have developed a fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

    Hi,
I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.
    Good Luck

  • Enable User Rights using Adobe Acrobat Professional 7

I created an editable PDF form using LifeCycle Designer 7.0.  My goal is to have users fill out the form and email the actual filled out form not the XML code. I added a regualr button with the following java script.
    event.target.submitForm({cURL:"mailto:[email protected]?subject=Submitted Form&body=Please find attached the completed form.",cSubmitAs:"PDF",cCharset:"utf-8"});
    Show = Click
    Language = JavaScript
    Run At = Client
When I test the button in Adobe Professional or in LifeCycle the button works fine.  However when I open the file in Reader 9, it does not work.  I do not encuonter any error messages.  Nothing happens when you click on the button.  I thought that users rights need to be enabled in order for it to work.  Unfortunately I do not see how to do this Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.  I do not have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.  Any ideas on what I can do to correct this issue?

For Reader users and AA7, your only choice is to have the XML file submitted. Then simply open the form in Acrobat and import the XML data file to fill the form. This will be exactly what the user saw when they submitted it. Thus there is no need to submit the entire form.

  • Roaming Profiles, FM9 and Acrobat Professional (9 and X) - Useful Info maybe to others

Just thought I would post this bit of information, which took me a long time to figure out and I still don't know why it happens.
    Basically
Using FM9 (although have FM10 installed but cannot convert at the moment...not to mention...sigh...that a distributor sold that to us knowing that FM11 was about to be released!!!!!!!!!)
    Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit
Recently upgraded to Acrobat Professional X (although the same problem happened with Acrobat Pro 9).
Could not get FM to publish to PDF (that is, print to PDF). I could distill, but then I did not get the bookmarks I needed (I tried to find an easy answer to that question, but that was a dead end involving programming).
I have spent too much time on this issue
A while ago, I found that by disabling a roaming profile, or deleting the files in the Adobe folder in a roaming profile, seems to fix whatever problem the PDF printer was having generating a PDF.
Thought I would pass that on in case someone else find it useful.

    Amanda,
As Van says, yes you can have both seleced at the same time. I suspect there are other issues on your machine that are creating your problems. FWIW, I too have been running FM9 on a win7 64-bit platform with no issues.
The Roaming Profile is used typicaly with remote logins across a WAN (wide area network), however, application specific gets stored there - depending upon the application. Since you've seemed to have resolved the issue by deleting (or disabling the profile, i.e. the apps won't look there) the Roaming profile folder, it sounds like there might have been something corrupt or erroneous in the Acrobat data folders. When you installed your FM versions, did you deselect the accompanying PDFcreator option? If not and you had an existing Acrobat installation, then some items would have been overwritten, creating some issues for you.

I made a fillable form using indesign and then acrobat professional but need to have radio buttons trigger different fields showing in the form below them - is that possible and if so how do I do it??

What version of Reader are they using, exactly? And are you sure they're
using Reader itself and not opening the file inside a browser window, for
    example?
