Using calculator application without numeric keypad?

Hello,
I have a little but very frustrating problem. I was bought a new MacBook in the last week to replace my old PowerBook 12". Everything is fine, I like the new machine but the numeric keypad is missing. This isn't a catastrophic problem, but I can't use the calculator application only using the keyboard! Why? In the calculator application doesn't support the multiplying key (AltShift,) if you are using Hungarian keyboard layout. Any other function is working fine (add, sub, div). With the numeric keypad we can handle this problem, but without it: no!
So anyone can help me how I can solve this problem?

I'm not used to Hungarian keyboards but am I right that the multiplying key is the one with the 'Ú' (just googled it)?
Then you should try to access it with ALT+Ú ... NO shift.
Maybe this could work. Just give it a try =)

Hello all,
I have a question regarding a simple but annoying problem, of which I did not found a solution yet.
I have written an application in which I have to enter data manually in a numeric array control.
If I want to enter the value and go to the next element in the array control, i am forced to use the Tab key on my keyboard, or risk RSI using the mouse.
How can I assign the Enter key of the numeric keypad section of my keyboard to to the same as the Tab key?

Keyboad without numeric keypad - How to produce "enter" instead of "return"

Sorry, no forum on keyboards, so I used this one ... Sometimes, "enter" and "return" has the same effect but in certain circumstances they don't. For instance, in Excel, in a cell "enter" will paste what you've copy, "return" will change the current cell. Sorry for this silly question but how do you get "enter" instead of "return" on the little keyboard with no numeric keypad ???

I'm not sure if this answers your question...
In Excel, pressing enter or return will only paste data if the CutCopy mode is active (or true), having just cut or copied data from a cell; in other words the clipboard has data waiting to paste.
Moving from one cell to another when pressing enter is an option that can be set by the user.
Pressing the single enter/return key will do both but it depends on the previous action performed, if any.
That said, I create VBA excel programs using a laptop exclusively and notice no difference in the singe enter/return key.

How can i get user to use my application without logging on as a developer?

Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of information regarding allowing users to be pointed straight to an application on apex. Curently i log in via the apex.oracle.com home page use my database name then my username and password. But that only gets me in i want to allow user to be able to view and use the applications. How can i do this? Or is this indeeded possible i would assume that it is.

Another possibility is that if you host it yourself, or go with one of the production hosting companies then they can help you to configure it so that you can point a DNS name (e.g. www.yourapp.com) to point to your application, so that is all your users would need to enter into their browsers.

Iphoto is using Calculator application to open photos...help!

I can import a photo into IPhoto ok but when I click on it to edit it is trying to use the Calculor application to open the photo and it says Calculator can not open that file. How can I fix this?

Set something else as your External Editor in iPhoto.

Using X11 applications without having xorg-server installed.

I have 2 computers in my network: one is a powerful 8 CPU SPARC, the second is quite old and has 4 slow CPUs. I'd like to run graphical applications on this slow server (logging into it via ssh, server doesn't have either vga nor monitor, it's usable only via console login and ssh), but I would like this powerful computer to be a X11 server - it should work with all those graphical programs that I will run on slow computer. Is it possible (if yes, I would be glad if you tell me how) to remove X11 server software from slow computer (leaving there only client apps, like mozilla, xclock, etc.) and configure it in this way, that this powerful computer will handle all X11 requests?

Just don't start an X server on the slow one.
Then you could either ssh into the machine and run programs with your display explicitly set to the other machine.
(Only necessary if you're not using SSH X forwarding)

Deploy simple Labview applications without installing the Labview runtime?

Hello and a happy new year to all !
I have coded very simple Labview applications that basically read text files (exported from Ms Excel), make some string operations, array sorting and at the end write another text file that is then imported in Ms Access. Now I would like other people from the School parents association to use this application on their own PC but ideally without having to install the Labview run-time; for various reasons one of them being that they are not administrator of their PC, another reason being that I feel bad to ask them to install 100Mb of programs on their PC to execute my <1Mb applications. All that I can assume is that they have Excel and Access installed on their PC.
I have read some postings on the Forum and in the Knowledge base from which I understand that the only way to use my application without the Labview runtime is to build a shared library that maybe I could then link via a VBA code from inside Excel or Access. But I cannot find any usable example on how to do that practically. And maybe it is not possible.
What is the easiest way to run such very simple Labview compiled applications on a PC that does not have Labview installed? Is Labview not at all built for such use?

You will need to have the runtime installed. There is a lot of other languages that also have the need for there own runtime, but they are commonly installed with the OS, so you don't realize it. Just building a dll won't solve this.
There might be a hack possible, though. People have managed to strip down the required installation and been able to deploy the required parts of the runtime only. If you want to go this way, search on LAVA. But I'm not sure if it works with LV 8.20, and you will need to invest some time to figure out the minimum requirements. But be aware that it is a hack, so it's on your own risk.

How can I use my iPhone 4 as a numeric keypad for my ipad?

I am a teacher that uses my ipad for entering and keeping tracks of grades. The one thing that would make this perfect, is if I could use my iPhone as a numeric keypad. I have found many ways to use the iPhone/ipad as a keypad with a PC but not ipad. There must be a way.....they sync/talk to each other all the time. HOW?

I read it and I do have a hot spot I use it for my laptops inter net but I want to know if I can by use of my phones USB connection use it as a dongle. My laptop doesn't have the bluetooth hardware I need to update the software in my cars hands free kit it's downloaded in my PC but no way to install without bluetooth. What I'm trying to do is .

I am facing some problems when I am Working with Numeric Keypad on Oracle Forms 6i.
I have 10 Buttons and In Every Button Property I have defined the "Access Key".
e.g

All Buttons are functioning Properly when I Pressing (One Key Stroke) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 using Numeric KeyPad.
But I am not able to apply this Technique on "*" , "/" , "-" , "+" , "." , "Num Lock".
How Can I utilize these Characters(*,-,+,/,NumLock) in my application to perform a certain task using Single Key Stroke through Buttons or any other way in Oracle Forms 6i.
Note : We don't want to give Keyboard / Mouse to User. We have given a Numeric KeyPad to the User for a Certain Task.

It works for me on 10g but the only pitfall is the " * ", the workaround is to use the " & " in the label next to the key you want.
for example:

Using new wired keyboard (w/o numeric keypad) with Windows Vista

I have a 2008 Mac Pro and a Windows PC. They share the same monitor, keyboard and mouse via a KVM switch (I use the Belkin Flip DVI-D KVM Switch, model F1DG102D). My keyboard is the Apple wired keyboard with numeric keypad, which works fine with my Windows Vista PC, even with no Apple-specific Windows driver installed. My keyboard tray is pretty small, so I would like to get the new Apple wired keyboard which doesn't have a numeric keypad. I don't need the numeric keypad anyway. However, I will miss the home, end, page up, page down, and forward delete buttons. The Mac Pro has a way of simulating these keys. However, the key combinations to simulate these keys don't work in Windows Vista. My question is: how do I simulate these keys from Windows Vista? My guess is that possible options are:
1. Use some Vista keyboard mapping software. If so, any idea what might work?
OR
2. Use Apple's keyboard driver for Windows Vista (32-bit). The keyboard comes with boot camp, but I don't use boot camp (since I have a separate Windows PC). How do I go about getting a standalone Apple keyboard driver without having to install boot camp?

I have a similar problem but it seems there is no solution. The new wired keyboard is not event working properly with BOOTCAMP. Vista doesn't recognize the keyboard as Apple keyboard and even forcing the device manager to use the Apple keyboard driver is not working.

Toggle numeric keypad without numlock

I just bought a T410s. I wonder if there is a way to activate the numeric keypad without having to use NumLock? (On my MacBook numeric mode is turned on while the fn key is pressed).

Probably the options:
1. Adapters. BPEL PM offers a different set of adapters that allows the process to communicate with external apps
2. PRobably a basic HTTP POST could be an option
3. Writing some code inside a Java Embedded activity
