Using Captivate 4 Aggregator to Combine Articulate SCORM Files

I am trying to use the Captivate 4 Aggregator to combine multiple Articulate SCORM files into a multi-SCO project. I know that all of the files were published to SCORM, but when I try to add them to the project, I get a message that says "selected zip package is not Captivate SCORM package". I can't find any difference in file structure on contents between a file that "works" and a file that doesn't work.
This module works:
This module doesn't work:
Any idea why?
Thanks :)
Linda

Hello,
I'm sorry, but as far as I know Aggregator works only with Captivate generated files, not even with Flash files.
But you are talking about SCORM, sure that you do not mean the SCORM packager?

  • Naming Buttons - Problem with using Captivate 7 Buttons to Open URL or File

After spending too much time troubleshooting a button problem, I discovered the importance of naming each item in a Captivate project.
For some reason I have yet to figure out, publishing to SWF from Captivate causes buttons to function arbitrarily. In my case, I had eight buttons pointing to external URLs, three that worked and five that didn't. All of the buttons pointed to the same external website, only to different PDFs hosted on that site. Each button was named with the default "Button_X" convention as set by Captivate. After trying lots of different settings adjustments, On Enter and On Exit actions, and Play/Pause timings, I did what I should've done from the beginning; changed the names of the buttons.
Why this worked? I don't know. I've seen hints on other discussions as to SWFs not working well when there are a lot of unnamed or default-named items. If there's some logic to this I would be happy to know it, but for a default setting to cause such a bizarre problem is beyond my comprehension. I could understand if I had named the buttons incorrectly, but I didn't do anything to them; I left them with the names created by default.
Hopefully this helps someone else resolve a similar issue and, if anything, encourages everyone to follow best practices and use a clear file naming conventions for all projects.

  • I need to know how to use Captivate 4 agregator to package a lesson in 5.5 and an articulate quiz

I need to package a lesson created in Captivate 5.5 and a Quiz created in Articulate Quizmaker using the Agregator funtion in Captivate 4. I want to end up with a file that I can upload to an LMS, so learners can take the lesson and quiz together.

The aggregator will only accept SWF files, and only SWF files that are all created with the same version of Captivate. You should always use the Aggregator that comes with the same version of Cp that was used to create the SWFs.
Given that you mention "packaging" is it possible you are confusing the Aggregator with the Multi-SCORM Packaging tool?

  • Embed YouTube video into SCORM (HTML5) using Captivate 7?

    Hi there,
I am using Captivate 7 to produce a SCORM compliant HTML5 course - this course includes a video, however when I have tried to upload the video directly, it pauses/doesn't play well in our LMS.  As such I wanted to try embedding/streaming the video from Youtube instead. The video is unlisted (as it is an internal course).  I've had a hunt of the forums but can't seem to work out how to do this?
Note: When I try going to Video > Insert Video, then Event Video > Already Deployed... entering the Youtube url - It doesn't work and I receive the following message: "Failed to load the video file. The file parth or the URL may be invalid. Do you want to change the file part or the URL".  I am using Adobe Captivate 7 version 7.0.1.237 (in case it helps).
    Any and all help appreciated.
    Nicole

    Thanks for the quick response!
Re: Widget - does it work with HTML5?  I found a couple forums that seemed to suggest it doesn't...
Also, when you say the full YouTube URL - where do I get this from?  I (embarrassingly) didn't realise there were two different ones.
    Thanks again,
    Nicole

  • Can Captivate be used with a LMS that is not SCORM compliant?

We are currently using Flash for all of our online courses, but would like to switch to Captivate.
Unfortunately, our LMS is not SCORM compliant. Is there a way to use Captivate with our LMS? We would need it to record test scores and student information. We're open to a third party solution.

TLC is correct, you could report to your own DB.
Reply to a similar question with webpointers:
Ways to integrate captivate with a database?
Is your LMS AICC compliant? Captivate will work with AICC as well.
And while Adobe Connect is not technically SCORM compliant, Captivate will work with that as well.
AND Captivate can track via xAPI (TinCan), so there's that option too...though I suspect if your LMS doesn't support SCORM, it probably doesn't support xAPI.
So you have a few options...

  • Error when Posting a Captivate 5 Aggregator Project on Web Server

I created a 3 module aggregator project with a preloader jpg file using Captivate 5 and published as both a zip and html file.  When I play the html on my local machine, it plays fine.  But, when I have one of the web developers upload the zip files to the server she says that she gets a flash player error when she tries to test it. I've used the aggregator in Captivate 4 with no problems (when using AS2) so I'm not sure what could be causing this error.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Marion,
I asked her to try again and here's what she said she did:
I unzip the online library folder, double click the onlinelibrary.swf file(the  standard.js file is in the same folder), got the popup window as  follows
After  I click ok, it play the movie. Then I upload the file to server, but it does not  work(frozen the server). So can you remake it again as the rest of all video  works just fine. BTW, I use flash player 9.
Apparently, she tried it first on her machine which has flash player 9 and then only uploaded the single .swf file to the server.  I was told by another developer that she needs to add the standard.js code to the html file.  It appears she doesn't want to do this so I have to compile all the .cptx files into one. So, it looks like you were right about her testing locally, but she's also not uploading the files correctly on the server.

  • Using Captivate with SharePoint

I apologize in advance, the "search within this forum" function is not working, so I can't search the Captivate forum to see if this question has already been answered.
When you develop training and quizzes in Captivate, I've heard you can post the files on SharePoint, and then SharePoint will capture the student information and quiz results.  Has anyone successfully done this just using a standard SharePoint site, and not the SharePoint LMS that is offered?

    Hi Jim,
I can't seem to get a reply from anyone on the forum for the SharePoint Learning Kit, so maybe you can answer my question.
Once you set up your SharePoint site and download the SharePoint Learning Kit,  how do you activate the kit on your site?
    Thanks,

  • Captivate 4 and SumTotal 7.2 - SCORM Template

    Hello!
I'm hoping someone has what I'm looking for.  Up until last week, we had been using Andrew C's SCORM template with Captivate 3 to publish courses to our SumTotal LMS (version 7.2). Everything worked beautifully!
Now, we've updated to Captivate 4 and are trying to use the same template with Andrew's override behavior, but when we do, it disables any right-click's that we use in the simulation. It also disables the use of variables.
I tried copying Andrew's override variables and functions to the new Captivate 4 template and I can get everything to work correctly except the right-click. Am I missing something? Or does anyone know if Andrew has released a revised SCORM publishing template compatiable with Captivate 4?
*The template we have override's SumTotal's rather annoying urge to prompt for completion before the end of the course.
I have attached the Captivate 3 template we were using, and the one I tried to create for Captivate 4. Any assistance in getting the Captivate 4 one to play nicely with right-click would be great!
    Thanks,
    Kristy

    Hi Kristie,
Sounds like you have what we have been looking for in order to use Captivate with our LMS. If I could also request the files you mentioned to Sam I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using Captivate quizzes in oracle ilearning 5.0

    Hi,
I guess this question goes out to anyone familiar with BOTH oracle iLearning AND Adobe Captivate..
We are using Captivate 2 to develop e-learning content, often including quizzes / tests.
Our current LMS is Oracle iLearning 5.0, and we are experiencing some troubles trying to apply the in-built Captivate quiz for one of our courses.
    1. I have created a simple test of 7 questions in Captivate, all weighing 1 point. You need at least 6/7 points to pass the test.
    2. In total we plan to give the user 3 shots at passing the test. No clues as to whether (s)he submits the correct answer is therefore given during the test.
So far so good, this works well within iLearning (after having tried 3 times, you're not able to access the questions any longer), but here's the catch:
    * If the user gets eg. 4/7 on the first effort, he or she obviously fails (this works), and the RCO is marked as incomplete, the user still has these 4 points the next time he or she takes the test, so if the next result is 3/7 th user gets a total of 7/7 thus passing the test.
Does anyone have a clue of what's causing this error? How do we reset the score for each time? Is there anything special I need to configure on the publish settings / quiz settings in Captivate that I might have forgottten / not know of? I am not very familiar with SCORM, so perhaps there is sth I need to define in the mastery score of the SCORM manifest?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx in advance

This is definitely something on the Captivate side, and it's possible that it is related to not having a mastery score for the learning onject (which you can set manually in ilearning if need be on the learning object properties screen.)
Do you have debugging enabled for the ilearning cmi adapter ( "?lms_debug=on" added to the end of the cmi adapter url)? If so, run the quiz a couple times like you describe and view the java console output. That might give us a clue as to what the content is doing.
Also, try it with a mastery score and see if the behavior is different.
I will also check with my contact at Adobe...

  • Best way to achieve multiple paths with quizzes using Captivate 6?

I’m looking for the best way to achieve multiple paths and quizzes using Captivate 6.
Here is the scenario: The learner watches general slides 1 – 3 and then chooses between Path A, Path B, or both paths combined.  If they choose Path A then they watch the A portion only and take the A Quiz only. Same happens for Path B and for the two paths combined. The learner would only have to go one path to complete the course.
What I’m finding is Captivate only has one Quiz results page (even if you create two separate quizzes, it merges them). I was trying to avoid having three separate projects for the same module to keep it simple. I see if I have three separate projects I could use the Multi-SCO Packager to merge them for use on my Moodle LMS. But wait, I don't have the elearning suite, so I don't have access to the Multi-SCO Packager...
My question is: What is the best approach way to accomplish this goal? Any recommendations?
    Message was edited by: austingina

Captivate 6 has Branch Aware quizzing.  Turn on that option in Quiz Settings and then your Quiz Results page should only show results for the branch your user visits.

  • Using Captivate content on Saba

Is anyone out there using Captivate on Saba?
I am having real difficulty stopping content moving to
Transcript. I have set pass/fail, SCO mastery score etc in attempt
to stop it and at times it appears to work. Just now I had a look
at a piece we are developing on our test environment and on the
first attempt that reports a completion status of unsuccessful it
stays in enrollments, which is what we want; however on a second
unsuccessful attempt it goes to transcript with the status
    unsuccessful.
Can anyone give me advice on settings on Captivate and Saba
that will stop this from happening? Although, the content still can
be launched from transcript and completed successfully, it is a
little confusing for the learner that sometimes it will stay in
enrollments and sometimes be found in transcript.
    HELP PLEASE!
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi All,
After trying several combinations on reporting, we still
can't get the content to stay in current enrollment on Saba.
Has anybody out there had experience with Captivate and Saba?
We have pretty much resigned our selves to educating our
learns that if they don't complete the quiz on the first the
attempt, or if they fail the quiz they need to go to transcript to
    find it and relaunch.
The only other option is to set on Saba offering level never
to move content to to transcript unless manually done so, which is
    not really a great solution.
I would still be very grateful if somebody has something to
    add here.
    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Using Captivate to import .mp4 or .flv files

I am looking for someone with Captivate experience to let me
know if Captivate can turn my mp4 and flv files into scorm
compliant objects. Seems like I could import it and export it and
be ready to go. Is this the case?

    Hi again
Indeed Captivate is often used to capture screen activity.
But within Captivate 3 one may click Insert > Flash Video... and
point at a .FLV file to link to and present.
The FLV will normally require metadata. You might find the
link below to be of value.

  • Creating Exam using Captivate 4

    Hi,
I'm Creating an exam using Captivate 4, this exam will be a practical exam in Wrod something like ICDL exams which needs steps to complete the question.
What i did is that i made a project for each question but now i need to collect all the questions in one exam, which will includes Skip and Quit buttons.
First, How to make the exam of these questions, where i can get a total score at the end of the whole exam?
Second is it allowed to make the Skip and quit buttons at each question??

    Hello,
Your questions are not quite clear to me, thus perhaps this answer is not relevant.
For the buttons in the quiz, check this blog:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/09/widgets_to_streamline_your_qui.html
For reporting the score the best way is to upload to a Learning Management System as a SCORM-object: not only the Total Score but also the answers (data) can be stored on this LMS. I have been posting quite long answers about scores in this thread:

  • I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. Mac users can no longer read the page numbers but pc users can.

I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. As of about 2 weeks ago the mac users can no longer read the page numbers they get a font error message and see only -- where the page information should be. The pc users do not have this same problem. When I replace our regular font (URW Grotesk) with a system font (Verdana) everyone is able to read the page numbers. This is a new issues, I have been creating these documents in the same way for years without a problem. I have been on hold and on and off calls for the last two hours, I keep getting hung up on once I find someone in adobe support to talk to!

    Hi KnoopL,
Are the Mac users using Preview to view the pdfs or Adobe Reader?

  • How do you turn off Flash audio when using captivate Nav bar?

    Hi Guys and Girls
I have an imported flash file that plays an audio track,
I have no problem turning the audio off, when the user uses
the button within the flash file to go to the next slide in the
    captivate movie...
    on(release){
    stopAllSounds();
    _root.rdcmndNextSlide = 1;
BUT if the user decides to use the navigation bar within the
captivate movie it all goes pair shape.. The flash audio continues
to play into the next slide. Anyone have a know how to solve this
    problem?
How do you tell flash to stop playing the audio when using
    the captivate navigation bar?
(The flash file is a flip book and the audio NEEDS to stay
    within the flash file)
    Cheers
    Aquil0

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This totally solved my issue. I had a Captivate 4 movie using an embeded animation that had audio. It would play the audio again when the next slide appeared. I have to use Captivate 4, because my audience still uses Flash 7 (yikes). However, if you have Captivate 5 and are having this problem there is a widget that solves this issue: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/11/animations-%E2%80%93-audio-sync-issue.html#commen t-3872
