Using CDs with self-printed labels

I cannot get my superdrive to play properly CDs on which I burnt iPhoto libraries and then identified with Avery CD labels. When trying to copy the library from the CD to the desktop the transfer process freezes halfway through and the whole machine seizes up until I restart. CDs of the same make but without labels attached work perfectly. Anyone know how to remove those sticky labels without damaging the CD?

My point is the workaround one would need is to make a duplicate that does not contain these labels. Contrary to what you may be suggesting here, if you read the link I just provided, this issue has been going on for 8 years at minimum. It wouldn't be necessary if you'd inform those in the industry who have the power to make changes in the decisions that labels don't work, and they need to start moving away from such standards, unless they can ensure all drives sold in the market today work with such discs. They do not, and have not for at least 8 years. They may work in a large number of machines, but there is a large number of machines they don't work in. It is not like this problem has just surfaced. While I appreciate the expense one must go through to workaround this issue, I don't think we can ignore the fact that it has been a persistent issue long enough. One either finds a way to work around the issue, or addresses with the powers that be who require you to use such media.

    When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have a column of different width?
    Case in point, the supplied avery labels in Appleworks does not have 8195. When I build one using custom design  I need a small column between column 2 and 3 to line up the info in columns 3 and 4. All the labels are 1.3/4 inch wide but I need to insert a column 1/4 wide to match up with the avery page....
    Any ideas???
    Thanks......
    ---warren

    Well, the issue is that when you creat a custom width of 1.3/4 from the edge of the first label to the edge of label 2 all is good. The right and left margins were also set correct in AW. The Avery page, for some reason, has a small 1/4 inch column between the columns of label 2 and 3 therefore making the distance between the left edge of the label in column 2 and the right edge of the label in column 3 - a width of 2 inches and not 1.3/4.
    I guess Avery wanted the page to look even.
    I did this work around.....
    I created a custom lay out of 2 columns (not 4) with the correct width of 1.3/4 from label edge to label edge and the correct left side margin. After printing the first page I just turned the sheet 180 degress and printed the 2nd page to use all the labels on the Avery sheet. Since the upper and lower margin were the same it worked great....
    "Great minds think alike"...   thanks for your suggetion

  • I have a Dell Inspiron 530S computer and a Dell Photo 926 printer. Using Firefox with the printer, how do I scan a blank form into the computer and fill it out there and then print out the completed form with the printer?

    Basically, the problem arose when I got a package from the Veterans Administration requiring me to fill out some complicated forms. Using my equipment and Firfox, I have been unable to do it.
    == This happened ==
    Not sure how often
    == I applied for Agent Orange evaluation

    That's not really a Firefox support issue.
    Check with Dell support and ask if the scanner software is capable of saving the form as an actual form, instead of as an image as most scanners do.

  • What paper type to choose for self-adhesive labels?

    Trying to tell my printer that I'm printing Avery self-adhesive labels. But I don't see any settings for label paper under paper type.
    What should I pick, "Specialty Paper"? "Other inkjet paper"?

    You choose a standard page size. Most labels are on an 8.5x11 sheet and in portrait orientation. So select that size if it's not already the default for the printer.
    I've done labels on many Macs and number of printers. Most of the time, a template for the various Avery labels and their clones is available within the program that generated labels. I've not seen a printer setting for labels on any of the 5+ printers I've used to make labels, going back to Mac OS 6.
    Example: In MS Word 2008, the is a menu choice in Tools > Labels... that helps you set up labels. The screen will show an image of the layout you selected from the "Labels.." option. Word inserts section breaks and columns that exactly fit the Avery number you chose.
    At that point you can fill in each label manually or, even better yet, use The Mail Merge function in Office to populate the labels with info from a spreadsheet or a Word table. It goes so fast that it's probably taken me more time for my challeged typing skills to hammer out this repsonse that to make a bunch of labels!
    PageMaker and, later,Adobe InDesign have similar templates.
    So what program are you using the make labels?
    TIP: I have both a b/w laser and an ink-jet printer. I almost always use the laser for printing labels that will go though the mail. The reason: laser lettering is waterproof. If the the letter has ink-jet labels and gets wet, the ink on the labels will run and be harder for our postal employees to read and deliver.
    Note that a laser printer requires a special type of label stock that will stand up the high heat inside the printer.

  • Can anyone recommend a good app for designing and printing labels?

    I have just switched from pc to mac and have pages on my macbook but it does not have a label function (please apple sort this out its the only major flaw!) so can anyone recommend a good app that will do what a pc does? I do not really want to pay £85+ for office for mac just for the word program

    One way to find an app at the App Store is to use keywords.
    Type   print labels   in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
    Click one of the apps listed. Always check Requirements under Information and definitely read customer reviews before purchasing and make sure there is a support link available in case you need to contact the app developer for questions.
    This forum is mainly for troubleshooting the App Store.
    For feedback for software designed for printing labels, try posting your topic in the Mac OS X community here.

    I used to be able to print labels for burned CDs with the cover being the playlist name and the other side the song titles...now the titles print out compacted, overlapping each other and illegible. I thought it was the printer but it happened w/1 other printer as well,  which I used before for this exact thing w/no problem.

    Try cleaning the print head with rubbing alcohol wipe, then replace your print head. Keep pushing the Ok.
    Go to this link and HP shows you how.

  • Issue with Printing Labels using PrintToPrinter

    Hi,
    Recently we have upgraded our reports from crystal reports XI to crystal report 2008.
    We are currently facing problems with the labels printed through crystal reports.
    I've used the ReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(1, false, 0, 0); method to print the report directly to the label printer.
    The problem is, if I export the label to a PDF file and print the report by selecting the printer the label comes out perfectly, but when I print the report directly using "printtoprinter" method instead of exporting it to a PDF, the font size is reduced and the label looks like its shrinked to half the size. Our production server is still running on crystal reports XI and we don't have any problem printing labels from it. Let me know if i'm not sailing in the right direction.
    System Details:
    OS: Windows Vista Buisness 64-bit
    Visual studio 2008
    .NET Framework 3.5
    Label Printer: Dymo Labelwriter 330
    Crystal Reports 2008
    Code:
    private ReportDocument oRpt = new ReportDocument();
    // initialize the repot.
    initReport();
    oRpt.PrintOptions.PaperOrientation = PaperOrientation.Landscape;
    oRpt.PrintOptions.PrinterName = prnName;
    oRpt.PrintToPrinter(1, false, 0, 0);
    Thank you,
    Vijay

    Hey Josh,
    I'm sorry there was a typo in the link.
    Here is the link for that forum Re: Custom Paper Size & Orientation Problem
    The solution mentioned by Amit singh in the thread solved my problem. I'm pasting the code here for you to look at.
    boReportDocument.Load(Server.MapPath("CrystalReport.rpt"));
            PrintOptions boPrintOptions = boReportDocument.PrintOptions;
            // The paper size used for this report is  '14x7'.
          System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings oPrinterSettings = new       System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings();
            oPrinterSettings.PrinterName = "     ";
            foreach (System.Drawing.Printing.PaperSize oPaperSize in oPrinterSettings.PaperSizes)
                if ("14x7" == oPaperSize.PaperName)
                    boPrintOptions.PaperSize = (CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize) oPaperSize.RawKind;
                    break;
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = boReportDocument;
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Vijay

  • With Firefox 4 I can't print a shipping label off the post office's website (click 'n ship) like I used to with Firefox 3

    I go through all the steps to print out a shipping label when I am on the post office's website for click 'n ship, but the website won't communicate with my printer (when I am in firefox 4). So I switched back to Firefox 3 and have no problems.
    This happened before in the beta version and I had to switch back to Firefox 3, so I was happy to switch again to Firefox 4 when the completed version came out, but the problem came up again and after all the steps were done to complete the shipping label and I hit the print label button, my printer connection window never popped up so that I could click on it to command my printer to print the label. I am a registered user of click 'n ship on www.usps.com

    After waiting forever to talk to some jerk at USPS Click and Ship help, he told me it's an Adobe issue. I didn't ask why it just started happening, but I too just updated to Foxfire 4 recently, it must have something to do with it.
    Open your Adobe reader... under programs...mine is called Adobe Reader X
    Go to "Edit" in top left...click "Properties"...
    Uncheck "display PDF in browser",
    Then restart your computer for it to take effect. I am so thankful it worked!

  • Printing labels in using standard report

    Hi everyone,
    can anyone help me in creating a report, which has the output as standard AVERY 8160 Labels format of MS Word.
    The main purpose of this report is to print Labels.
    regards
    Ajay Nuduruapti
    SAP - Technical Consultant

    Hi,
    The Best method is use the Forms.
    In standard report format, use the subroutine to print the one label using the write statement , the same function is used till the last row.
    Match the no. of rows reached with the Page row count. Increment the row line dynamically and reset if the new page starts.
    Hope it will help u.

  • Missing field when printing labels with Address Book

    I am would like to print the labels for my clients Christmas Cards, using AddressBook. When doing print > label, I get all their names and addresses on the labal formt that I want but the company name is missing. How do I get AddressBook to include the field "company" into the label ?
    Thanks for help.

    If you need to include the company's and individual's name, here's a work-around:
    1) for each such card, you put the individual's name and leave the Company field empty.
    2) Put the company name in the field for "Street"
    3) Put the street address, including Apt. # in the field for "City"
    4) Now, put the City, State, and Postal Code all in one field: the field for "Country".
    5) save the card.
    When printing labels, proceed as follows:
    1) Print>File>choose your Avery label under "Layout" and then click "Label."
    2) Here, you make sure to check the box so it will "Print country." Don't forget this step, or the whole plan is a failure.
    This works, but it only works if the card is in-putted as described above. It won't work if your cards are already set-up with the "company" field and the "name" field.

  • Sapscript label prints - problem with high print quantity

    Hello,
    we are printing labels out of deliveries using sapscript.
    To allow print copies, I have set the DIALOG to 'X' on the function call for OPEN_FORM (see below).
    We usually print 1 copy for each label. It is working fine for low quantities like for example we print out five labels with a copy for each label.
    But for higher quantities, for example 25 labels with a copy for each label, it is still printing out all labels, but on the copy labels, certain information are just missing. Strange thing is, the missing information all have different source tables or text fields. For example the date of the delivery is not showing up, then our part number or the shop order number entered as text field on item level of the delivery.
    Is there any setting that could cause this issue? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Printing labels with no address

    this is driving me mad.
    anyone any idea how to print a load of address labels for people who don't have addresses?
    ie people who i will actually see and can actually give them their christmas cards.
    i thought i was being organised by creating a little christmas card group in address book. but it only wants to print out the ones of people whose addresses i know. this is very annoying. why can't i do it?
    i suppose i could just write xxxx in the address field and then i guess it would print. but do people want to be given a card that says, "sally smith, xxxx" ???!!!?
    maybe i'll just put "happy christmas" in the address field. will that work?
    ok, maybe i've solved my own problem here. but there must be a better way of doing it ...
    any ideas.
    thanks.

    I've found no way to do this from address book. Printing labels from address book is just simple list style printing ** fill the sheet with names and print. I see no way to insert blank information like I use to do in Clairworks in order to skip rows and columns. If you need to repeat names or print only certain columns and rows, then you would need to do that from another program. I have no recomendations since I haven't used any, but I'm sure there are many out there and probably a lot that are free to download.
    What I do is print out full sheets of mailing labels on the ones I used repeatedly, such as my return address, electric bill, water bill, etc. I used appleworks in the past, but now it no longer works under Lion, so I will have to make new sheets, probably from Word.
    For all others addresses that are not used frequently, I've resorted to just running my envelopes throught the printer.
