Using CHDK and Canon .crw files

Hi,
I recently installed the CHDK hack on a point and shoot canon underwater camera which is great as I can now save the files as RAW - iphoto does not recognize the resulting .crw raw files - I presume this is because they are from a camera that is not supposed to have RAW capability. I have since converted the files to DNG files but iPhoto still does not recognise them (Photoshop CS3 does)
Has anyone managed to get Raw files created by CHDK to work in iPhoto?
regards
Mike

Thanks Terence,
I think if there was some way of adding a new entry to Raw.plist it could be solved for any camera / format - I know it was possible in the past.
I thought that by running the .dng file I created in "dng4ps-2" through Adobe DNG converter it would work but both iPhoto and Aperture must be still reading the camera model,
I will keep searching,
regards
Mike

  • Slight bands using Aperture and Canon 30D

    Hi guys,
I have some problems using Aperture, developing/converting RAW files from my Canon 30D.
Unfortunatly I have bands in my pictures. Means that there are slight differences in the brightness of the files, which will give horizontal bands.
We already tested these files in other RAW converters like Capture One, RAW developer and Adobe RAW Converter.
Only the Adobe RAW Converter doen't show these bands in the RAW file, so we think that these are probably are errors coming from the camera chip, which Adobe already knows and fixed by their converter files.
I only see these bands on my concert pictures using ISO400 to 800. This will probably explain the errors coming from the chip.
So my question is, does anyone of you saw the same things in your pictures?
I have and developed image where you can see the problem. I also can send you the original RAW file to check for the problem.

  • Camera Conector and Canon Raw files

    Hi
I have a Canon 30d, looking at buying a Ipod 30gig to use as a back up whilst shooting and filling a 1 gig cf card rather than keep buying cf cards...
Will the ipod accept the raw files? and will I be able to view the photos ie can an ipod read canon raw file format??
    thanks
    Steve

    Hi
Whether or you can transfer raw photos from a camera to the iPod via the camera connector I don't know. However, I do know that on the older iPods (the ones with the color screen which can't play video) you could transfer a movie (mpg) that you had shot on a digital camera. Although the iPod couldn't play the movie, you could see tell if the movie had transferred, and you could then transfer the movie from iPod to the computer with no problems. Thus, it may be possible to transfer raw photos from camera to iPod via the camera connector and then from iPod to computer. However, the iPod CANNOT display raw photos, so even if you can transfer them, you won't be able to see them.
    Hope this helps

  • Using RSL and Deploying SWZ files

    Hi
I developed a Flex Application on my local machine and used
signed Adobe Framework RSL. It works perfect on my machine and
creates the Flash Player Cache on my machine.
Now when I deploy the same application on my server with the
swf files and the swz files the application is not able to create
cache on the client machine. (its not able to use the framework.swz
file and uses the failover framework.swf files)
I did a lot of reading which says that I should create a
    cross domain policy file etc.
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=rsl_09.html
Can somebody please help me and tell me how can I deploy my
    application on my server?
and what exactly should I put in my config files and in my
    crossdomain.xml file?
    Thank you

    Hi Sudheer,
You are going right. And as Nash said the Portal server didnt get restarted when you deploy your par file. I generally follow different steps to deploy and run par file. Have a look, may be this could help you. When I deploy and run par files it doesnt take more than half a minute.
    Steps:
    1) Save project. Right click and "Quick par Upload".
    2) On your browser type
"http://<b><your_server_name>:</b>50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/" or same page you can get by navigating:
    System Administration-> Support-> Portal Runtime-> Administration Console.
    3) At the option "Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD." Deploy your par file by giving the path.
    4) On your portal. Follow the path: Content Administrator-> Portal Content -> Portal Content(sub-option). Right click -> New from par ->iView.
    5) Here in the list you will find the par file which you have uploaded. Proceed as said.
    6) You will finally have an iView. Right click it and preview it.
Next time you make changes to the application just create a par and deploy it in the same way and Preview directly, no need to follow step 4,5. For previewing follow the step 6 again.
Hope this helps you. If still the problem exist then let me know.

  • Lightroom 5.6 cc for Mac and Canon 6D file corruption when adding to catalog

    Hello,
I was testing my newly purchased (August 5, 2014) Canon 6D camera shooting out the window of a moving car and also by walking around. I was using the Scene Intelligence Auto setting, shooting in single shot mode and continuous shooting mode. I used the kit lens Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 for the 6D. I've been using LR 5.6 CC to download the CR2 files into a catalog. Before downloading I check the images on the 6D camera's preview feature and all the images look accurate - full color and image. However, when using LR, as I'm downloading the CR2s or converting them into DNGs for my LR catalog, I notice on the thumbnail strip changes some of the images that are being imported into thumbs showing color shifts and/or blank white areas. After LR has processed the images as CR2s and/or DNG the processed are now look like these corrupted thumbs. Many images came out with sections of each image showing a rectangular area of negative imagery (i.g. the sky was rendering purple, the trees orange, etc. Also two of the images blank white expect for the a quadrant of distorted color and negative imaging.
When I try the Canon download software, the images are accurate so I know camera's memory card and probably the camera are not at fault. Any suggestions as to why I may be encountering this problem and how to resolve it?
I use a 2012 Mac Book Pro and have my LR catalog on a external hard drive.
    Thank you.

Based only on  what you described seeing after  the previews were built and having not seen an example, it sounds like a corruption of the actual file. I have experienced this myself and have usually found a bad connection/cable between the card reader and the Mac or a glitchy card reader. Over the weekend I had issues trying to import images because the USB cable I grabbed was for my Garmin GPS and the my Mac didn't even recognize the reader was attached until I swapped cables. It is not a perfect system. When it is working, life is great but when it is not...
The suggestion to copy your photos to your HDD first (@99jon) is what I would also suggest. This has worked best for me and has caused fewer problems than importing directly from the card. I have turned off the option to automatically start LR when a card is attached so I can manage the offload myself. I never import directly from the camera either since that just adds another layer of complexity which brings it's own compatibility issues. Finally, never, ever let Lightroom or the Mac OS delete your files from your card after import. When you are ready to erase the images from the card, put it back into your camera and use the camera's format utility (it's in your camera's menu but I am not a Canon shooter so I can't tell you where to find it). The memory cards are very cool technology but, since the makers have no idea how they will be used or by what, they are not always reliable. People have reported memory card issues when they delete images from the card in the camera. Best to offload them with a copy (not a move since that implies an OS delete) and then reformat the card in-camera.
One last thing. The in-camera previews are actually JPEGS produced by software in your camera. The default is to make a high contrast and saturated version off what was recorded by the sensor. The RAW image is the data that is taken right from the sensor with almost no modification. The RAW image however is going to utilize the camera's full bit depth and will have a much greater dynamic range than the converted 8-bit JPEG that you see in the display. Also, those little blinkie displays in camera also apply to the JPEG image and not the actual RAW file which can often hold detail the JPEG can't. The point is, my RAW previews always looked washed out and over exposed immediately after import into Lightroom but as long as my exposure is not pushed up against the right side of the histogram, I know the image has as much workable data as I could get. As long as the highlight data is not clipped, don't worry about your previews not looking as good as your in-camera JPEGs. There are development presets to create the same look after import (Develop module/Camera Calibration panel/Profile drop down). There you will see profiles such as Adobe Standard as well as a set of Camera profiles (Faithful, Landscape, Portrait, etc.). Select one of the Camera xxx profiles if you want an in-camera JPEG look. Not perfect, but a really good starting point.

  • I have my iTunes Library on and external hard drive.  I have a new computer and want to use iTunes and KEEP my files on the external drive.

My iTunes library is on an external hard drive, and I was able to access / add to the library from my windows laptop.
I now have a new laptop, and want to be able to KEEP the library on the external drive while being able to use iTunes from the new laptop.
I have selected "choose library" in iTunes, and have chosen the iTunes Library.itl file on the external drive.
My media populates in iTunes on the new laptop version of iTunes, but when I click on a song iTunes says that it cannot locate the song.
    Your help is kindly appreciated!

Thanks.  Were the settings shown in your last screenshot in force when you added the song that's shown on being on the C: drive?  It is also possible that at some point you ran iTunes with the external drive disconnected, in which case it will have defaulted to the library on the C: drive, or that you've run iTunes without explicitly selecting the library on the E: drive.  To make sure the latter is the case, hold down SHIFT while starting iTunes, then when you get this prompt:
click on Choose Library..., navigate to the location of your current iTunes Library.itl file, and click Open.
Part of your issue may that its not obvious where that current database file is located.  The folder layout on your E: drive isn't the one that's most easily managed - so its possible that the database file could be in:
    E:\xxxx\Files\iTunes
    E:\xxxx\Files\iTunes\iTunes
    E:\xxxx\Files\iTunes\iTunes 1
I suggest that a lot of your issues can be addressed by reshaping your library into the reliable "portable" layout as described in tt2's Make a split library portable user tip.  Comparing your screenshot with the equivalent on my system (where I have a "well-formed" library on an external drive):
    where:
there is just one iTunes folder with everything used by iTunes inside it
all media is held within subfolders of the iTunes Media folder
The way you have yours set up, where the iTunes Media Folder location is set to E:\xxxx\Files\iTunes rather than E:\xxxx\Files\iTunes\iTunes Media is probably why some of your media is not being located correctly - the extent to which iTunes can correctly resolve locations is, to an extent, reliant on the folders for the different media kinds (Music, Audiobooks, etc.) being inside the iTunes Media media folder.  One common misunderstanding (not helped at all by Apple's documentation!) is that the iTunes Media Folder location setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced does not tell iTunes where to find anything; rather it determines where iTunes will put new additions to your Library, in conjunction with the Copy files to iTunes Media folder ... flag:
I would definitely take the time to work through the steps to bring your library into the "portable" shape - there may be few remaining issues with broken links when that's complete but this will be much easier to fix if your library is in a more standard structure.

I contacted customer support and they didn't know why it was blocked, but told me to go through the account verification process. • Lightroom and Canon RAW Files. THIS NEEDS TO GET RESOLVED!!!

I am EXTREMELY frustrated and unhappy with Lightroom's performance when it comes to processing my Canon 1D Mark II N's .cr2 files. I know others are having this issue with most other Canon models, and I KNOW there are other threads about this. However, I'm about to the point where I cannot stand to process images in Lightroom anymore, due to this frustrating situation.
I know this has to do with the fact that Canon doesn't release their proprietary RAW data, so LR has to "guess" what the image should look like when it is initially imported. HOWEVER, come on Adobe, can't you do a better job at GUESSING? My colors look like CRAP!
Now, before all of you jump on me about develop presets and all that, let me make a couple of things clear.
    - I'm a professional wedding and portrait photographer. Not to sound like an ***, but I know what I'm talking about on this issue. Please don't start making a bunch of suggestions on how to change color space etc... It's all been tried before.
    - I calibrate my monitor. This issue has nothing to do with that anyway.
    - I DO NOT have any automatic presets set to run in lightroom on import OR export.
    - I will not shoot JPEG. Don't say "just shot jpeg" and expect this to be solved.
Here's a screen shot of Lightroom running side by side with Canon's DPP software. For the record, I HATE DPP, but it provides SUPERIOR RESULTS.
DPP is on the left. LR is on the right. No develop settings or presets were applied - the images shown are SOOC after import.
    http://meeksdigital.com/images/frustration/dpp-lr.jpg

Peter, You may have selected "Auto reset" in the "File numbering" item of the camera's set-up menu, in which case it will start numbering the images from 1 again after re-inserting the CF card. When importing the next time into LR it will see the same file names and tell you that it does not find any new photos to import. This process is determined by file name only in LR and it will import the same file name of different formats having the same prefix, like when you shoot RAW + JPG and have _MG_0123.CR2 and _MG_0123.JPG.

  • Open Folder using Coldfusion and loop the files in the folder to the files names

    Hello,
I have a folder with lot of .xls files in it.
I want to access a folder using some coldfusion code and then
"loop" through each .xls file in the folder, and while looping is
it possible to obtain the name of each .xls file?
Anyone who knows anything about this, your help would be
    highly aprreciated.
    Thx

Yup, I know all about it.
You can to if you read up on the <cfdirectory ...> tag
    in the
documentation. A very hand tag for reading a directory, even
    includes
the ability to filter to a certain file types. And produces a
    record
set of the files with names, types and more.

  • How to use HTML and Java Script files in Portal

    Hi,
I am trying to access a web application using iViews. My application contains JSP,HTML,Servlets,JS(java script), image files. I am using JSPDynPro to access the JSP files and I am putting servlets in the private/lib folder of the PORTAL-INF dir of Portal project. Now my problem is almost all the JSP files uses the HTML files, JS files and image files. Where can put these files in the portal project dir structure to give access to the JSP files when i am creating a iView for the JSPDynPro componenets in the irj.
    thanks,
    Ashok

    Hi,
JSPDynpage is the controller, one JSPDynpage can call more than one jsp file according to the coding. Through the JSPDynpage's setJspName() function only you can display a jsp page.
    EX:
    public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
      this.setJspName("logon.jsp");
if you put the JSPDynpage in the src.core then the JSPDynpage can be accessed only by this application.
if you put the JSPDynpage in the src.api then other applications can access this component.
You can put the jsp pages in the pagelet folder.

Until a better idea comes along use a card-reader to put the files into a folder, then load them into Apex as a second step. This is not as conveneint as loading directly from the camera, but if the interface won't work you'll have to do somethiing else.
I don't have immediate access to Apex - can you load off a card-reader instead of the camera by specifying the drive to load the files from?
It sounds like more of a Windows problem than Apex. Have you tried browser searches on Logitech and Twain to see if anyone has encountered similar problems?

  • Blackbery Link - browse pc folders and copy mp3 files not in music folder

    Hello to all of you
I have music archives in different drives and pendrives
It is not intuhitive at all how to browse local PC drives and or PC folders to select and copy single or many .mp3 files from the PC to the BlackBerry device.
Please don't tell me that the silly solution is to move the mp3 files to the windows music folder.
Additionally, i find really against an user friendly approach the BlackBerry Link in the music section. It doesn't allow to show the mp3 files names and use, manage and browse .mp3 files by their name, I see only
    - All the music
    - Album
    - Artists
    - Genres
    - Playlists
    well,
    - I have so many .mp3 files
    - they don't have all the mp3 tags
    - I see only an unfinished list which doesn't allow me to select the file I need, and I must scroll all of them every time
A TOTAL NO SENSE in my personal opinion
Anyway , from BalckBerry Link and from PC side, how to select one single mp3 file, QUICKLY, and copy it inside the BlackBerry device in the music folder?
    Thank you
    C0r

    Yes CRAZY!!! It is confirmed,
trying to find a solution to this crazy behavior, I've turned to documents side.
I've added my mysic folder to the documents and TA-DAAAH! The .mp3 files don't show!!!
On the right panel a big string says "The folder doesn't contain supported files"!!!
Well, looks like that BlackBerry Link leaks like the OS 10
Anyway, if you can provide a solution that allows to copy mp3 files ID3-less (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3), mean that none of the ID3 has been filled, thank you so much in advance.
To BB Link developers, think about allow users to tranfer files as files and not as you arbitrary want, thank you.
