Using chinese characters/font in titles

I am trying to use Chinese characters for subtitles in my video and a few of the characters turn into boxes?  I am a Mac user and have the proper Chinese keyboard selected.... which works fine in Word.  Please help!!!  I think there is something to do with the available fonts in premiere pro, something about the font being unicode vs. non-unicode.

Try creating these in Photoshop, then import the PSDs into PP.

  • Report Generation Toolkit using Chinese Characters

I am trying to use the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office under LabVIEW 8.0.  I would like to use Chinese characters for the headings of the columns using a 2D array of the headings and the Excel Easy Table.  When I generate the report, the text of the headings appears to be jumbled and not encoding correctly.
    For example:
    仪器编号 becomes êNhV÷S
    采前初重(g) becomes Ç‘MRRÍ‘ÿg
    Any insights here? Thanks

    Hi,
what you describe reminded me of a bug fix in the Report Generation Toolkit 2012 :
    339092
Using the "Append Table to Report" VI to add strings of Cyrillic font to a table in an MS Word report results in gibberish being added to the report.

I know that Cyrillic and Chinese characters are different but they are often confronted to the same problems...

  • Using chinese characters in struts-config.xml

    Hi
i am developing an application in Chinese language where i need to create all the urls in the Chinese language. i am using struts 1.3.5.can anyone tell me is it possible to use Chinese characters in struts-config.xml action mappings? i tried but it is not working. is there ant way really?
    Regards,
    A.

Don't know about struts specifically, but for Chinese URLs to work you would need to convert to punycode at some point, to comply with IDNA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punycode
    Are you doing that?

  • Chinese characters in JDialog title?

    Hi all,
I'm running the JDK on an english language machine, but starting a program with the command line prompt -Duser.language=zh to display Chinese characters.
If I have some chinese characters in a JDialog title, or a JOptionPane message or title, the characters are replaced with boxes. I can see Chinese characters everywhere else, in JLabels, text boxes, JTrees, etc, so its not a problem with fonts.
Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a work around for this? Is it something to do with the UIManager setting the fonts for JOptionPane's?
    thanks,
    Justin

Try calling these at the start of your app before showing any windows:
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    JDialog.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
If that doesn't work, I don't know what would. The default is that the OS draws the frame titlebar, and on English systems, it's not going to display chars that aren't in the charset. I'm sure you could change that by installing other charsets, but you can't really do that on other people's machines.

  • Best chinese characters font

I'm currently learning chinese and I noticed the characters look really not ok.
    From arch wiki,
ttf-tw - Kai and Song traditional Chinese font from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan (AUR).
wqy-microhei - A Sans-Serif style high quality CJK outline font. (AUR)
wqy-zenhei - Hei Ti Style (sans-serif) Chinese Outline font embedded with bitmapped Song Ti (also supporting Japanese (partial) and Korean characters).
ttf-arphic-ukai - Kaiti (brush stroke) Unicode font (enabling anti-aliasing is suggested)
ttf-arphic-uming - Mingti (printed) Unicode font
opendesktop-fonts - New Sung font, previously is ttf-fireflysung package
wqy-bitmapfont - Bitmapped Song Ti (serif) Chinese font
ttf-hannom - Chinese and Vietnamese TrueType font
Which would be the best choice?
And, if you have multiple fonts installed, which one will the system use?
    EDIT:
Left characters are the ones displayed by chromium
The right ones, in the same computer, the same document that was in chromium (hosted in google drive and downloaded as excel) rendered by libreoffice.....
Can I guess it's a problem with how chromium manages the fonts?
    Thanks!!

OK then: before you do anything else, please take a look at your /etc/fonts/conf.avail and /etc/fonts/conf.d. This is where the font engine is actually tuned. The file 65-nonlatin.conf is the one when you can set priority of your non-latin fonts for a certain language. (The similarly named 40-nonlatin.conf lets you specify whether a font belongs to a serif or sans family, among others.) First, backup the original files, and then place on top of the list the font you'd want to use as a preferred one for Chinese. See if you can find a combination you like. (Of course, make sure you have hinting and subpixel rendering enabled, too.)
In case nothing works for you, you can always grab the files from the repo in my signature (patched freetype2 + customized fontconfig settings). You will find a little preview there (Firefox + Wikipedia homepage) to see if this is the way for you to go.
Edit: I'm not going to recommend Firefox to you because Chrome can do the job decently enough, too. I only feel that I can control Firefox more easily probably due to my rather modest experience with Chrome / Chromium.

  • Using Chinese characters mixed with English ??

I volunteered to help a local charity with their program in
    China.
They donate school books and funds to keep Chinese kids in
    school. Seems
free school stops at age 15 in China.
My problem is a page of mostly English text with a few
    Chinese
characters. The page looks and prints perfectly. Yet when I
    save the
page in DW8 and preview it in a browser the Chinese
    characters become ?
marks. How do I publish a page of mixed text?
Sorry I just accepted this job and as of now it is published
    with
FP and that has to change. www.blessing-hands.org. I am
    attempting to
cut and past the text from the existing site and build the
    site using DW
and yes I know the pictures need to be compressed. Working on
    it..
    Thanks for any advise

OK, I am making progress solving this problem. The page
    complains that the
encoding is not correct for some of the characters. So I go
    to preferences
    >Fonts and select Unicode 4.0 UTF-8 and select OK. But
    when I go back to
preferences to verify, the encoding has returned to Western.
    Why is all free
    work so complicated?

  • TextArea uses Chinese characters

Please excuse me if the special characters appear as ?s.
I have an application that has a TextArea component (AWT), but whenever I enter a special character using ALT+number on numeric keypad to enter a special character, it puts in Chinese characters! For example, I would usually use ALT+0225 for and ALT+0233 for , but I get a different Chinese character or some box character. It's different each time I type a ASCII keycode. I tried using the frame's setLocale(Locale.getDefault()) method and the TextArea's setLocale(Locale.getDefault()) method, and only the first special character I enter when the program runs appears as a normal ASCII character. I never have this problem in my dialog boxes.
Someone please help me make a TextArea that uses ASCII special characters.

There aren't any "ASCII special characters". What you are probably thinking of is one of those character sets that claim to be "extended ASCII", of which there are many.
Java uses Unicode, a very extensive character set which contains ASCII as its first 127 positions. You can read about it here:
    http://www.unicode.org/
In particular, have a look at the code charts section to find the "special characters" you are interested in entering. Then download the Character Agent program from here:
    http://www.bjondi.com/products/char_agent.db
I assume you are a Windows user? This program is a better, Unicode, version of the little Character Map utility that comes with Windows.
Finally, you'll need to make sure your TextArea is using a font that can render those characters you want to use.

  • Using Chinese Characters?

    Good afternoon -
I would like to use the Chinese characters found on the Mac with Illustrator, but when I type them in they just come up as regular Roman characters. How do I get the program to use the actual Chinese Glyphs?
    Thanks!

I find the character panel easier I also think there should be a way of setting all of this up directly from Adobe applications

  • HELP!!! Using Chinese Simplified font

I'm using FZXiHei I-Z08S and FZDaHei-B02S fonts in indesign and one character is not showing...it did when the font was missing, which is odd. I need to use bold and regular and all characters are showing but one.

Does the OSX - 10.4.11 support Aisian fonts.
Yes. Are you familiar with how one creates Asian text in any app? It's not by selecting a font. You have to go to system prefs/international/input menu and activate a Chinese input method. You can find instructions here:

What version of Quark are you talking about? Perhaps it does not work with Chinese.

  • How to use chinese big5 fonts in Linux with Java 2 1.4.0.01? Please help me

    Hello
I just trying to run a java program in Mandrake Linux 8.2. Everythings work well except the fonts. I did read this page
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/fontprop.html
    but the problem still there.
Because I don't know how to modify the fonts.properties file. Java seem not support a world language version in Linux. (Although it support in Windows.)
Then I tired to use the windows file, fonts.properties.xh_TW, to replace the fonts.properties in j2sdk in Linux. But it doesn't work.
Please help me by either show me how to modify the fonts.properties file or direct me where to download a Big5 fonts in Linux version. Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry I have been out of for a long time.
If you already follow all the step of Locale help online,
may be your font.dir in your /usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.dir is not as
    the alias it was expected.
take a look of that file.
In xtt for chinese, there may be short cut like vl=y as such, because java
render the font directly getting info from the fonts.dir so if the font filename
is not as expected, you will not able to load the fonts. What you need to do is
    ln -s realfont vl=y:realfont
to link the font to the make java think the name of the font is actually vl=y:realfont.
Let me know you get it.

You can't download keyboards for an iPhone.  You have to use the ones already present, which include a number for Chinese, as listed in the tech specs.

  • Webapp authentication failed when using chinese characters as login name

    Hello,
I have tried webapp authentication on tomcat and oc4j, via BASIC and FORM auth-method. All failed when the login name contains non-English characters. It seems an encoding issue, therefore, I also tried to change the page encoding of the login form to utf-8. None of the above is successful. Is there any solution? I really appreciate any help!

  • The "blue bar" no longer properly displays Chinese characters.

I recently updated my Adobe Reader from 7 to 9.4, and since doing so, Firefox no longer displays Chinese characters in the title bar. Instead, I now only see question marks.
I've added Chinese to the preferred languages and also tried switching the browser's text to Unicode, but neither of these has made a difference.
It's certainly a minor issue, but if anyone knows what to do, I'd greatly appreciate the help!
    Thanks!

A possible cause is that Firefox has a problem with the (system) font that is used to display the Chinese characters on the title bar.
Were any new fonts installed recently?
You can try to use the system file checker to see if there are any problems with font files.

  • Form conversion to PDF with Chinese characters

    Hello.
I have a Sap script form and it has Chinese characters in the title and footer.  It is converted to PDF then send it to email, at transaction SOST. The Chinese characters was replaced by '#'.
Our basis tried to install the device driver for PDF stated in sap note 999712, but still it didn't correct the form's output in the PDF file.  The form is in ZH and the font used in the form is CNSONG.  The transactions was also executed during ZH logon.  Would anybody know a solution to this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Doray,
For printing in PDF other than english characters we have to create new font .
Go to SE73 and create new font family Named ZCOUR_I6 and then execute the report RSTXPDF2 where in select the optin for activity to be performed as READ and SAVE the font file.
From control panel for to fonts and copy the COURIER NEW (TrueTYpe) font on to ur desktop .
Upload the the same font file using RSTXPDF2 by specifying it in the file name.
Then try to execute the tcode which u r usingh for converting the output to PDF and check whether the desired output has been converted.
Hope things are little clear for you.
