Using Cisco 3526 IPVC for Voice Calls as well

Does anybody know the latest capabilities of the Cisco 3526 gateway when used as a Voice gateway? The Cisco SRND for "Cisco IP Video Telephony", which was published in July 2004, states that the IPVC gateways do NOT support H.245 Empty Capabilities Set or H.450. So they will give you supplementary services such as Hold, transfer, etc. Version 3.0 of the 3526 documentation lists "Empty capability set support" as a feature, although it does not state H.245 or H.450.
Basically, I want to use a 3526 as a second Voice gateway as well as a Video gateway in a Call Manager deployment. I am just concerned that I won't get all the supplementary services when using it for voice calls.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I know the product can support voice, my main concern was the support for ECS (Empty Capabilities Set) within H.245. If it does not support this my IP Phones will not be able to use the supplementary features such as Hol;d, Transfer, etc, etc.
I have escalated this to Cisc here in the UK for clarification. I am sure it will, but I just want clarification from Cisco or somebody that has used it in the same scenario.

  • I want to use a netbook as a cell phone for voice calling/receiving

I realize that AT&T has a smart phone that will also allow mp3 playing and ibook reading, but its draw back for me is that it is restricted to how large a SD card you install, max 64mb.
I would like to be able to use my AT&T cell number on a netbook which has 250GB of storage as I like to listen to audio books and take up a lot of storage space.
Maybe something that plugs into a USB port that will receive and send on cell phone frequencies.
A SD adaptor that would allow me to move my SIM card over to the netbook.
A program that would run in the back ground that would listen for incoming calls and would come foreground when I wanted to make a call.
The mp3 player and ibook reader are no problem as they can just be downloaded.
Anyone know of anything like this or simular to?
    Tks
    Rick

No phone plans for iPads, they do data only.
You can use VoIP apps such as Skype or google voice.

  • Bandwidth requirement for voice calls

    Hi All,
Need expertise advise on the following concern about voice call.
    1. Bandwidth requirement for video call across all other endpoint(using Polycom / Lifesize end point at their end)
        a)Standard Video
        b)1K HD Video
        c)4K HD Video
    2. Plus can we determine bandwidth required for all the following below:
    a. 1 to 1 VC  end point ( Cisco TP – Cisco TP)
    b. Bridge call  ( Cisco TP to Polycom / Lifesize)
    c. 1 to 1 VC end point ( Cisco TP – Polycom / Lifesize)

Thanks for the info Wayne. I missed out information about the endpoint.
Client using CTS 3010.  Acoording to datasheet it says
11.9 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps best motion handling), 10.1 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps better motion handling), 8.8 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps good motion handling)
    6.4 Mbps (720p, 30 fps best motion handling), 4.5 Mbps (720p, 30 fps better motion handling), 3.1 Mbps (720p, 30 fps good motion handling)2
My question is does the bandwidth required for both ways or only one way?
    And I'm aware CTS 3010 doesn't support 4K video.

  • How to use Satellite M500-ST5401 for mobil calls using Bluetooth

    Team,
I would like to know more details about bluetooth connectivity of a laptop to the bluetooth compatible mobile phones. My Model is Toshiba Satellite M500-ST5401.
What i like to get to know is,I am having a mobile phone Sony Ericsson and it has bluetooth with A2DP feature.
Normally if we have a bluetooth stereo headset
mobile can be paired and listen to the music using the bluetooth headset for the music which is playing on the mobile phone.
Likewise what i feel whenever i receive the call on my phone ,i would like to transfer the call to my laptop where i would like to use laptop speaker to listen to the incoming voice and the laptop Mic to respond the call in laptop and then it will be taken care by mobile phones.
Please let me know if this is possible,i just want to keep the phone away from my hand and wanted to manage incoming and outgoing calls just sitting infront of the computer using Inbuilt bluetooth technology available in both laptop and mobile devices.
Please recommend me what are all the software and hardware driver to be installed for achieving this.
Your reply is very much appreciated thanks in advance.

  • Use of sim card for making calls

Hi, I've got the new iPod, and I would like to know how do I make calls from the Ipad? Thnx

If you wish to use a cellular data connection, you need to go into your settings and purchase and enable a cellular data plan with whichever provider supports your SIM card.
All that does though is enable a data connection over 3G or LTE (if available) - it does not enable voice calling as the device cannot do that.  You would need to use a voice over IP app, which will use data minutes from your data plan.
If you use a VOIP app with a wifi connection, the SIM card has nothing to do with that at all.

  • GSM iPhone 4 Static for voice calls

    iPhone 4
    iOS 4.3.1 update
Today I am getting a lot of static when trying to make voice calls and people having issues with receiving or hearing my calls. I have tried a restore from backup and even a complete restore from a fresh 4.3.1 update. I have cycled the phone on and off, turned off 3g, switched it to airplane mode, and tried the phone from several different areas in a 20 mile radius. I suspect it could be a hardware issue and not software?

IF you did a complete restore then obviously it is not a software issue. That leaves, hardware as you suspect and the network. I would contact your carrier to see if they are aware of any issues in your area with call clarity.
Otherwise the iPhone 4 will still be covered under warranty.

  • Use WRP400 (VoIP Router) for Voice only, and the rest with WRT54GL

Hey there, I hope you are doing great!
The reason of this thread is because I recently moved to a cable ISP and unfortunately had to also change routers in order to take advantage of the VoIP feature (analog phone) they provided me with.
Now, the new router, the WRP400, is very limited feature-wise compared to the custom flashed WRT54GL I used to use with my DSL provider.
Now the WRT54GL does not have any FXS ports, so I obviously can't just plug my cable modem to the WRT54GL. Therefore, I was hoping to achieve a setup similar to this one:
Cable modem => VoIP Router w/ voice only (WRP400) => "Main" router (WRT54GL w/ Tomato)
Is there a way to bridge the WRP400 successfully with the WRT54GL keeping only the voice feature enabled on the VoIP router while the WRT54GL takes care of the rest? (Wireless, WAN, port forwarding, etc)
Thank you very much for your help, and have an awesome day!

  • Using Muvo TX FM for voice record

Hi all, am looking forward to learning all about how to use my mp3 player via this forum--and hope to contribute as well (at least once I get the hang of things! :smileyvery-happy: )
I purchased the Muvo TX FM player and was wondering if anyone has used the voice recorder feature to do things like record class lectures, meetings, whatever, and what your experience has been with it.
I attend a lot of meetings as part of my job and think it might be helpful in recalling quotes and such--but I don't know how well it works in terms of range, etc. Sound quality doesn't have to be great just good enough for me to hear what is being said.
    Anyone?
    Thanks in advance
    C

Well, I did not record much until now, but here are some short thoughts:
It is best to lay the player e.g. on the table and do not move it around while recording, because touching the player and moving it will result in additional noise that will be recorded. Wind could also make the results worse.
And the range is depending on background noise level. I'd say a few meters, if it is quiet.
Since creative did some improvements to this feature, I suggest you use the newest firmware .3.03, it records on a higher volume level than the former one and creative reports that background noise is lower now.
Try it and out and see if the voice-recording is useful for you.
    Bye, elmulti

  • "Use active profile except for: IMPORTANT CALLS?

I'm kinda confused as to what this means (in the ringer profiles).  Exactly where in my phone would I set a contact as an "important caller" so that I would be alerted to them calling me/texting me regardless of what ringer profile I was currently using?  I'm really confused on this and need an explanation on how this works.
    Thanks
