Using colorTransform ANYWHERE in a scene breaks GPU?

Are people aware that using a colorTransform -- either assigned by ActionScript, or in the Properties pane -- on ANY displayobject, cached or not (or even INSIDE something cached) will prevent ALL bitmaps from caching? As in, if ANY visible movieclip, ANYWHERE in the display list of the ENTIRE STAGE, has a non-default colorTransform property, then EVERY cached displayobject, ANYWHERE in the display list of the ENTIRE STAGE, will draw 'red' permanently in -renderingdiagnostics mode. Has anyone else encountered this?

Wow - that's totally true!
Was searching so long now for the error in my application. Using ColorTransform completely messes up the GPU stuff - even up the hierarchy.

  • Where is the import option for "Start a new clip at each scene break" in iMovie 2013?

I am currently in the process of importing several mini-DV tapes via firewire into iMovie 2013. I have the most recent version of iMovie and am using a Sony Handycam to facilitate the transfer. The problem I am having is that when I hit import, iMovie splits what is supposed to be a single scene into multiple scenes ranging anywhere from a second to 5 minutes. I am left with several scene chunks that I cannot combine into one. I did a little research and found that iMovie is probably deinterlacing my scenes as it mistakes them for multiple scene breaks. In the older iMovie options, all I had to do was to go to "Preferences" -> "Import" -> then deselect "Start a new clip at each scene break". However, this option doesn't appear to be available in iMovie 2013. Is there a way I can force iMovie 2013 to import a single scene from my mini-DV camcorder without breaking it into multiple clips? Thanks!

1st : this is the wrong forum, this is iMovie for ipod/iphone and ipad ( iOS is the OSX mobile Operating System )
2nd : iMovie 11 is the current OSX version.  iMovie 06 was the last of its kind, all newer, including iMovie 09 have complete new workflow, so functions of 06 are gone and have replaced with others.

  • IMovie capture from DV tape without auto scene break

Has anyone figured out to prevent iMovie from automatically inserting scene breaks in iMovie'11.
I am importing previously edited footage for conversion.  This still contains the timestamps.
After importing, iMovie automatically places each clip by time/date order in Events - which means it is jumbled up because it has previously been edited.
Basically what I want is either 1) to import as a single clip, i.e. disable auto scene break, or 2) to be able to sort clips into same time/date order that they were imported.
    Cheers

iMovie will assume that anything imported in DV Stream is coming directly off a camcorder, and therefore will be sorted in chronological order.
If you still have access to the software where you created these movies, you can share them out in something other than DV Stream.
For example, if you have iMovie 06, you can import it without auto scene breaks. Then Export Using QuickTime to an mov container in the DV codec. That will produce an mov file that iMOvie 11 will import in the correct order.

  • Import from DVDxDV created file into imovie HD with scene breaks

I purchased the DVDxDV program and it is working fine importing files from my Sony mini-dvd handycam. When I import the movie file created by DVDxDV into imovie 08, the program seems to automatically create scene breaks (which I want it to do!) However, I would really prefer to use imovie. When I import the DVDxDV created movie file into imovie HD, it comes in as one big video file. I need many, little clips out of this one big file. Is there a way to either import it through DVDxDV with the original scene breaks? Or can I configure imovie HD to behave like imovie 08 and break this big file up? Any help is really appreciated.

My guess is you'll see the same artifacts using other applications. I do recommend, however, MPEG Streamclip and Miraizon's Cinematize. Those let you select the portions of a video you want to convert so you save a lot of time and hard drive space.
Also, recent versions of Toast (I don't know if this is true for Toast 7) can export individual chapters from a video DVD or VIDEO_TS folder as separate files. This is done via the Toast Media Browser. Put the VIDEO_TS folder on the desktop or insert the DVD, choose DVD with the top button of the Media Browser. When the item appears in the browser window use the button beneath "DVD" to access the chapter level. Select the chapters you want and drag them to the Video window with DVD video selected as the format. After Toast extracts the split MPEG files you can select them and export them to other formats. It's possible, though, that Toast 7 doesn't have the ability to access the chapter levels.

  • During Import, scene breaks are not starting new clip.

Imovie HD: When importing from my camcorder (Mini DV) scene breaks are not starting new clips. The video is going into one clip which I then have to manually split each scene into individual clips before editing.
My preferences are set to: Import/Start a new clip at each scene break=ON..
The last time I used Imovie4, this same thing occurred. Prior to that, in Imovie4, it worked as advertised.
Could it be my camera settings?? Panasonic PV-DV910

    Problem solved.
I normally do not have the date and time displayed in the camera's viewfinder. So, I didn't realize that the date/time had been reset to 1998 and not active. After setting to date/time to the present, NEW recording - when imported - was being split into individual clips at the scene breaks.
However the previously recorded video would not.
My punishment for my lapse is to manually do the "split". But I am a much wiser videographer.

  • Can't set clip length to scene break

iMovie 08 default seems to be set to 5 second clips, I'm used to, and prefer, the old way of a new clip when the recording has been paused. iMovie help tells me I can do this in preferences>import>select start new clip at scene break. But when I select preferences I get a completely different pane with display timecodes, show date ranges....,use large font......,plus lots more, but no where is option to set clips to scene breaks.
(just noticed our mac models need updating, following alocal storm and lightning strike the induced emf in the wired network damaged every piece of kit on our home network, so we're on silver iMacs running tiger now courtesy of the insurance company, oh, and we've gone wireless)

when the video is taken into iMovie from the camera it appears in the space next to the event library list in 5 second chunks, i've found the slider that that changes the 5seconds to something else. (these are the thumbnails?)I used help to see if I could set preferences to show clips as single continuous (no pause) recordings, (one thumbnail) help says yes can do this by selecting "start a new clip at each scene break" in iMovie preferences>import. When I go to iMovie preferences the pane content is nothing like help says it is, the"start new clip etc" option is not shown. My question was really why cant I find the options that help says are available.
I think your answer tells me whats going on. I guess there is an iMovie update that help hasn't caught up with, I can see that by setting the slider to its extreme right setting I get a single thumbnail for a continuous record run on the video, and given a blank space between two thumbnails where the camera paused or was turned off gives me the information I'm looking for. I guess if my first import had included pauses I'd have seen the gaps and figured it out and not confused myself by going into help.
    thanks

  • Start a new scene at scene break doesnt work

I'm using iMovie HD and when I import footage, a new scene/clip doesn't start up. I've checked and unchecked the prefrence, quit iMovie and I still can't get a new clip to start from where I hit pause record on the camera.
    Thanks

"..your saying set the date and time on the camera and the scene break will work.."
It will work for any new footage shot AFTER you've set the time and date, because the camcorder will then write a new time & date on every new scene.
However, that won't magically fix anything shot BEFORE the time and date were set. So it won't fix old footage, but it'll stop the problem from happening in future.

  • How to make FCE make a clip at every scene break?

My video seemed to be imported straight as one big continuous clip instead of a clip at every scene break.
    How do i do this?
Has it got to do with the configuration of the video camera itself?

You use the DV Start/Stop feature, then use Make Subclips.
There is info already on the forum.
It works by using the start/stop points on your tape. If the clock (on the camera) was not working or the battery was flat then start/stop wont't work either.

  • Scene Breaks

When I import from my Canon MV30 Mini DV I am not getting many scene breaks. Usually about four for an hour long video.
This is strange and has only started happening very recently. All pref settings and video clock are correct. One of the imports I am having trouble with was previously imported last year with about 100 scene breaks. Because of an editing error I recently had to reimport the film. Now it only has 4 scene breaks. Help please. I am very confused.

iMovie 6 Help has a description of another way to re-set the camera clock, which may be the source of the problem:
"My camcorder won't communicate with iMovie HD
If you've checked to make sure your camcorder is securely connected to your computer's FireWire ports (not USB), and your camcorder is turned on and set to VTR mode (some cameras call this Play or VCR), here are a few more things you can try:
Check your camcorder's documentation to determine how to view and set the video recording quality. The quality levels are usually called "SP," "LP," "E-SP," and "E-LP." When you use your camcorder with iMovie HD, make sure the recording quality is set to SP, even if you recorded the video at a different quality level. SP and LP modes work well when you record video that you plan to import into iMovie HD. Before you record using other modes, you should try importing a sample recording first, to make sure it is compatible.
Check the date and time on your camcorder. Odd as this may seem, an incorrect date and time is one of the most frequent reasons that camcorders can't communicate with iMovie HD. If you've never set the date and time for your camcorder, follow the instructions in your owner's manual to set it. Then turn your camcorder's power off and then on again (this is called "cycling the power"). Connect your camcorder to your computer and try importing into iMovie HD again. If the problem persists, follow the steps below.
    To fully reset your camcorder:
Disconnect all the cables from the camcorder, including any power cables.
    Remove the main battery pack.
Remove the backup battery, which is usually a coin-sized battery below or behind the main battery.
    Wait 1 minute.
Replace the backup battery, then the main battery, then any power cables.
Turn on the camcorder and set it to "camera mode." The camcorder's display should tell you that the date and time need to be set. If not, check the camcorder's date and time to see if they are wrong. If they are right, repeat steps 1-5 but wait several minutes before replacing the batteries.
Set the correct date and time.
Set the camcorder to VTR (playback) mode. (Some camcorders call this Play or VCR.)
Reconnect the FireWire cable between your computer and your camcorder.
If the camcorder still can't communicate with iMovie HD, it may not be compatible. Click the link below to see camcorders that are compatible with iMovie HD."

  • Automatic clipping at scene breaks

Is it possible to create short clips automatically from a long clip that was saved using MPEG Streamclip? I need the clips to happen at scene breaks like imovie does when importing from a camera. I am hesitant to use "limit scene length to x minutes" in preferences because I don't want breaks in the middle of a scene.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi
NO. In neither iMovie, FinalCut Express or Pro is there a pictur analyzing tool
that can determine when a scene-break occurs.
Rumor says that this exist on the PC-platform: Adobe Premiere or ev. Pinnacle.
    No secure info.
Scene breaks are set by the time-code and this isn't included when going from
eg. VHS tape material or other movie files converted one way or another.
Tough luck. - Only hard and tedious work to cut up manually. Sorry

  • How to know if my iphone 4s is open line and can use it anywhere or in any country?,

how to know if my iphone 4s is open line and can use it anywhere or in any country?,like i bougth it in united arab emirates and if im in philippines i can still use it there?.

If you did not purchase it from an authorized distributor, then there is no way to tell short of trying a different SIM. Even then, it may have been hacked to unlock it.
That's a risk you take when you buy from the gray market.

  • Shockwave "won't respond" and "has crashed" in  Google Chrome, IE, Firefox, can't use it anywhere

Shockwave "won't respond" and "has crashed" in  Google Chrome, IE, Firefox, can't use it anywhere. I already tried completely removing every file it has, reinstalling it, and I went through the process of reinstalling Adobe Flash a couple of times. I'm using a PC. This has been going on for 3 days, it hasn't worked even once. It all seemed to have started right after I updated Google chrome, but Shockwave won't work on any browser, so I'm not sure if that's the case. Please help!

  • Import video and be broke into separate clips by scene breaks.

Is there no way anymore to have iMovie create separate clips for imported movies by scene breaks on the camcorder? I know previous versions would recognize when the filming stopped then started again and separate these into separate clips.
(I'm talking about in the Even Library not Projects)
I know I can select one frame and delete it to create separate clips then but its one more step and will lots of scene breaks makes it a pain in the @$$

I am importing from a Sony Digital 8 camcorder through firewire just like I always did. When I imported the footage in imovie o9 instead of detecting when the recording stopped and started again and breaking it into separate event clips it put it as on big clip.
It imports the clips as .dv files

    Hi,
Step 1 :In addition to that , please use remote connectivity analyzer to check outlook anywhere in internet .
From that we came to know the exact error .
Step 2: Most of the organisations are having an ISA or TMG firewall to create web published rules for exchange services .In case if you have you need to check the rule created for outlook anywhere is properly configured or not.
If you have such kind of firewall's ,You can test the OA rule by using the option test rule in ISA or TMG firewall .
Most probably you can able to find out the exact cause with the help of EXRCA.
Please reply me if you have any queries.

  • Exchange 2007 : Users cannot add contact while using outlook anywhere

Hey guys, i have a client with Exchange 2007 (standalone), when a user is connected through Outlook Anywhere or Activesync and they try to save a contact they get a little popup saying exchange is unavailable, outlook needs to be connected.
    Any ideas on these error?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In client side which is using Outlook Anywhere, please disable using Exchange Cached mode and restart Outlook to use Online mode. Then check whether the error occurs or not when saving a contact. Also do the test in OWA from external internet environment.
If the issue doesn't happen in Outlook Online and OWA, please create a new Outlook profile for this Outlook Anywhere user.
