Using Combo box at the backend

Hi,
I am using combo box at the backend to filter rows to a particular destination.
The problem is the labels are going to populate at the runtime and the selection of item in combo box is also going to populate at the run time. I have an icon which inserts eg: country in a cell, then this cells is used by combo box as a item selection(label) to filter rows from source. But unfortunately the comb box is not selecting any value i.e no item is selected dynamically. But if i manually drill down it is working but the label is not changing dynamically based on the changes in label by icon.
For eg my data:
Country and profit populate at run time
Country          Profit
India               5000
Germany        4000
Now i have icon which selects country (hard coded in excel) upon clicking the mouse on it and inserts in A1 suppose the value hardcoded is "India". Now this A1 is used as a "selected item" for combo box. the source to combo box is the above country and profit which populates at run time.
Now when i execute the dashboard. The value is inserted in A1 after clicking the icon but it is not picked up by combo box as "item selected" and hence combo box does not filter any data.
Can any pls help.

The said functionality should work. Please check your logic one more time. Also, try using some spreadsheet components mapped to the cells in question and understand how the data is flowing during run-time. This will help you test things. Delete spreadsheets when you are done with identifying the issue.
Lets check the combo box mapping one more time : Map the source of the combo to the entire range; labels in the combo box ONLY to the country column in the source range(typically this may be the left most column in the range); selected item should be mapped to the cell that has the destination for the icon and the type for default selection may be dynamic. Well, if there is any hard-coding of values involved anywhere, do check the spellings and other trivial things.

Problem with combo boxes and the reset button in certain situations

Hi Everyone,
i have a problem to make the reset-button function properly in an what-if analysis dashboard.
The dashboard uses two combo boxes that are not visible at the same time. In my application the second combo box only appears when a dedicated menu (label based menu button) has been activated.
So i have combo box 1 when menu A is active an dand combo box 2 when menu 2 is active.
After starting the dashboard initial values are fine. If you then directly change to menu 2 (seeing combo box 2 with
the correct default value) and press the reset button, the dashboard returns to the initial view, showing
the menu 1 with the correct default value. If you now switch back to menu 2, you will see, that the combo box 2
is empty (i.e. nothing selected).
I also tracked the destination cells for the combo box value results as well as the source cells for the "selected item" and the
destination cells for the "Insert Selected Item". All this values seem to be correct. Therefore i assume that
this is an issue of event handling. Maybe the combo box 2 does not refresh its selected value because it is already
invisible when the values are restored.
This case can easily be simulated by placing two combo boxes and a push button (that changes the visibility of
the combo boxes) and the reset button on the canvas.
Maybe someone can help. I am able to provide a test xlf, if neccessary.

thank you for your support. At the moment i have the following setting:
label based menu
- General: Insertion Type "value" from a list of ID's for the menu-items to a dedicated cell (current menu ID, say tab1!$A$1)
- Behavior: Selected item (position) fixted to item 1
hidden combo box
- General: Insertion Type "position" to a dedicated cell with the current choice (say tab1!$B$1)
- Behavior: Selected item (position) to the same cell (tab1!$B$1)
Can you give me a hint on how to connect the two components according to your solution, so that the label based menu sets the default for the hidden combox box only in case, that the reset button is pressed?

Combo box in the system form

HI
We r assuming " freezing = Absent"
When we select " freezing" in the combo box in the system form, "Absent" should be displayed in the matrix for the particular row in the user form.
Freezing should be displayed as Absent
Working should be displayed as Present
what is the coding for this process . can anyone help me...

In the combo Select Event, get the user form and then get the matrix then set the value. The code sample is as follows.

Problem rendering a combo box in the data grid

Hi,
I am rendering a combo box in the data grid control using an
item renderer. When I click on it to select a value from the drop
down, the combo box immediately closes giving no time to even click
on the dropdown. This doesn’t happen every time the combo is
clicked, although it happens frequently. What I think is that the
problem arises because the data grid tries to refresh the renderers
and during this process, the existing combo is removed, thereby
getting closed automatically. Please let me know of a work around.

Using Combo Box in Web Report 6.0

Has anyone had success using a combo box on the parameter form in
a Reports 6.0 web report? I can successfully use a list of
values, but this requires that the user must select an entry.
Some parameters may be null. Current environment is NT4 SP4,
OAS4.07, Oracle Developer Server 6.0.

In this package you can define a package variable to hold and share your file handle, and create functions to open, write, and close the file. You can call these functions from the Before Report, Formula, and After Report triggers in your report.

Report error when using combo box and one text field is empty

I'm building an interactive pdf in adobe pro 9. My problem is the following: I have one text field where you can enter a numeric code and that is used to populate another text field when I choose an option on one combo box.For example: suppose I write the code 123 in the text field "A" and that the combo box has two options ("data" and "-"). When I select "-", another text field "B" is empty, while when I select "data" i populate the text field "B" using the code entered "A" with the text "data_123". In order to do this I use the standard javascript code in the Format>Custom tab of the combo-box.
My questions are:
- how can I prevent the pdf to proceed selecting an option in the combo box when the field "A" is empty?
- how can I update the field "B" every time that I change the text in "A"? I found that the text is "B" is updated only when I press the selection in the combo box.

You can set the combo box to read-only in the Validate event of the A field:

To update the value of B when A changes, you can expand the script above to something like:

You might also want to reset the combo box somewhere in there, but it's not clear to me when you would want to do that.

How to use COMBO box in prc application

am using KVM -kjava to create a graphical user interface application.First i want to put combo box in my prc appliction,i have found a class implementing combo box but i could not understand if an item is selected from combo box then the screen below the combo box is painted ,so how to restore(repaint) the screen below the combo box ...can any body send me the code..

What combo box ? Did you create it ?
As to re-painting: Determine what components were covered by the combo, and repaint them.

Locating on a location on GMap using combo box using SDK

Hi All,
I have a requirement to locate a city on google map using combo box. I want name of cities to appear in combo box and on selecting a city, map should be able to locate that city. This combo box will be visible on map itself. Combo box can be a component of either Xcelsius or Flex Builder.
I think combo box dragged from Xcelsius component panel not able to communicate with google map which is embedded in form of swf through manage and packager.
So, I tried with Flex Builder combo box component, but not able to done it. I am not getting the flow how to communicate between combo box and google map.
I can locate a particular city giving a latitude and longitude through propertysheet.
Please, if anyone could help me out asap.

Using Combo box to create options

Hello,
I am using a Framegrabber to acquire my images from our custom made sensors. We have several models so I wrote several Drivers for each one. I have managed to use a combo box with the names of the sensors to select which driver is loaded into the IMAQ board. However, because the application is getting more and more complex, and because I want to have one universal application for all our sensors, I want to have the ability to select different options according to the driver that is selected. For example, if I select Sensor A, and I want to use the serial communication, I want the address of sensor A to be used in the VI. If I choose Sensor B, the values related to sensor B are to be chosen. I guess the idea is simple to implement using an If Statement in C or other languages, but I don't want to go through that mess, and I want to implement it with LabVIEW.
I could use a Case structure, but that only gives me two options. And I am not very good with Event structures and I do not know if I can use it for this. I also tried to use a local variable, but it would not let me change the values associated with the labels.
If you understood what I was trying to say, and have an idea, I would greatly appreciate your help. If you are interested in helping but need a visual illustration, I can put a quick VI together for you.

I think I am doing something wrong, but, maybe someone can quickly enlighten me.
The situation is this.
I have a combo box with about 65 values. I want to feed these into a case structure (to select a range of settings to use later on)
How do I get the values to also appear in the case headers? All I have is true and false..
My output of the combo box is a string, not a number. is that why I dont get the values automatically?
I've attached the combobox and a case structure.

Problem in showing combo box in the table

Hello guys i just add up the combo box in the table but the problem is when i change the line in the table the combo disappear. i want it to be visible even if it is not in the selected row. i want that user can see the combo box in the table without clicking on it.

How to get Subvalues using Combo box ?

I have one Combo box :
Having list of all Districts
When i select one of District it will give all related villages
regarding District that i selected in another combo box.
How to achieve this ? in one page itself
I have another idea but its not good..
where
1) first select District from Combo
2) Press submit
3) second page displays another combo and fetch perticular villages
and display in another combo.
but this technique requires more page navigation.
I want it should be on one page itself

as far as i know i could tell you for every two days a similar post is being posted here on the same thread..
you could have taken a look of them....
Anyways there are many ways of doing it....
In the days when XmlHttpRequest Object was not invented ppl used to achieve this using Hidden iframe and then updating parent frame dropdown by calling a javascript function onload of the page. or by auto refershing the page after saving the form state inside the scope of session.
However,using XmlHttpRequest Object (AJAX) nowdays is one of the smater ways of acheving tasks as these.

Problem w/"combo boxes" cause the user to double click for the dropdown menu, but not for everyone.

I have created a form with Adobe Acrobad Pro 9.
There are a few "drop-down" boxes for people to choose options from. I created them with the "Combo box" option. They work perfectly fine on my laptop (Lenovo T500 windows 7, with all updates up to date.) I sent the file to another exact same computer and that's when the problem came up. When you click on the drop-down, the list will quickly appear and then disappear. Then if you click it again it will stay open so you can choose your option. However this only happens on "some" computers but not everyone's. I emailed the exact same form out to other people in my office and they do not have any problems with the form. There is no need to double click the drop down, it will just open up properly for them.
Has anyone come across this? And if so, is there maybe a setting on these specific laptops that is preventing the "combo box" to not work properly? I need to use this specific laptop as a "Kiosk" like a "check out" station for users to fill out the form to check out equipment. I will be running in Reader so people can not make changes to the form. (both the Acrobat Pro 9 version and the (most up to date) Reader version of the PDF form does the same "double-click" problem) I need a date drop down and an equipment type drop down.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

I've got this kind of problem with a form of mine (designed with LCD) :
- combo boxes with font-color changing event handlers on :enter
- on Acrobat 9 Pro : no problem
- on Reader 8.3 :
- first click seems to execute the event handler but stops the combo's opening
- second click does open the combo
Do you have event handlers on combo:enter ?
Could the difference between comps where it works and comps where it doesn't be Acrobat's version ?

To filter data in two dates using combo box component

Hi,
I have a requirement like, i need to filter data in chart between two dates from two combo box.. From combo_box and To combo_box.
I am using one QaaWS to populate LOV's into Combo box's and another QaaWS for chart data. Universe is the same one on SAP BI query.
LOV's are populating into both combo's and chart as well, i used a query refresh button after choosing two dates and press button.
Data is not reflecting as per the choice of dates.
If any one have such scenario, request you to share the same....

Problem is with ranges, not with dates, my data is working fine with CALDAY (in BI Query)....
My query variable is on FiscalPeriod month, like "FEB 2011" to "OCT 2011" and is optional, but it is fails in QaaWS to execute when i try to input any months.
If we give default values in BI query format is like K4/010.2011 for october month. QaaWS doesnt fail and executes, but if i change any value in QaaWS it is taking as "OCT 2011"
And in Xcelsius it is not recognizing eaither of the formats like, K4/010.2011 or "OCT 2011"
the format is not matching with xcelsius.

Changing xy graph scale using combo box selection

Hello,
I have a xy graph with x scale set to 10k and y scale set to 6 by default.
I have a combo box which i use to select what the graph will display. For example in combo box i have 3 choices, A, B, C.
If i select A, xy scale is set to 10k and 6. If i select B, xy scale is set to 2.5k and 8, if i select C, xy scale is set to 4k and 10 respectively. Is there some functions that i can use to do this?

Of course, if the data actually follows these mins and maxes, you could just turn on auto scaling and it would do it automatically
