Using Command + ` toggles ONCE through my Safari windows, but won't cycle BACK. Why?
I read up on how to toggle through my Safari windows by using the Command + ` and it works fine to go forward, but it won't go back to the other window once I use it.
Example: I have 2 (two) open Safari windows, I use Command + ` to move to the other window, but once at that window, using Command + ` again will NOT move me back to my original Safari window. Why?
What keyboard shortcut can I use to go back/circle all the way through? I know about using Expose' and other shortcuts, but I am looking specifically for a KEYBOARD shortcut.
Thank you in advance,
mVice
Okay, I was sadly mistaken!!! The bête noire tis back! It seems as if whenever I have a video playing within Safari, it prevents the window cycling to go past the window playing the video.
So lets say I have four windows open:
1=google.com
2=facebook.com
3=projectfreetv.com(home page)
4=breakingbad.projectfreetv.com(actual video).
If I am on #1, I can cycle to #2, #3, and #4, but it stops after its hits #4, (actual video). I then can manually click on #3, and it will cycle to #4, but then it stops. If I manually click on #2, it will go to #3, but stop after #4. If I am on #4, it wont cycle.
So, N.Hillyer, I tried your suggestion, but alas, if I am watching a video, it will not allow me to cycle past that window. What is the deal? And no, it's not just projectfreetv's website, it also prevents cycling from uverse.com, abc.com, mtv.com etc. This is quite frustrating! No matter how many times I clear the cache, once I start watching a video it prevents me from cycling :-( Please help!
Thanks in advance,
mVice

Command quit will close the iTunes window but won't quit the iTunes app
iTunes 12.1.0.50
Command quit will close the iTunes library window... but won't quit the iTunes app properly.
The iTunes icon in the dock still says the app is live... click the icon in the dock and the library window pops up again.
On the second try the app will always close properly.I had the same problem: after updating to iTunes 9.1 (no errors) I just couldn't launch it. In Task Manager I saw that the iTunes process was running but it never really opened.
After nights of frustration of scanning the net for solutions I finally managed to get iTunes to run again.
1) Firstly I deleted the new iTunes 9.1 and all programmes associated with it according to the directions given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
It also mentions you should remove the Bonjour service but I could never make that work (no privileges or something like that).
2) After that I reinstalled a previous version of iTunes. In this case 9.0.3.15. I got the download here: http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
3) Then I disabled the Bonjour service with the MSCONFIG method mentioned at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There they state that you should check which service clashes with Windows by trying to disable one service at a time. I found out pretty quickly that it was just the Bonjour service that caused the problems. All other services could run normally.
After the reboot iTunes finally started up again and I was able to restore my library.
Only thing is that I can not use the Remote App on my iPod Touch. That apparently required the use of Bonjour.
I hope this method helps for some of you!
Cheers,

When my most front window is a safari one and I use the shortcut key "Command N", it opens a new finder window and a new safari window at the same time. Why does it happen?
I just found the solution!

Re: Why is my Finder window popping up when I open my Safari window?
Jan 20, 2008 7:58 PM (in response to alak)
Open the General tab of the Safari preferences and correct the home page; the default page is this one. If it has become set to a folder on an FTP server or a local drive, that request will be sent to the Finder. (28252)

I am trying to sort my bookmarks A/Z. I go to organize book marks and click that command and it puts everything A/z but when I go back to my normal page and click bookmarks it is not A/Z. One I organize it how do I save it that way?
Sorting Bookmarks in the Library window (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for temporary display. The Bookmarks are not permanently sorted.
To permanently sort, open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B opens or closes the Bookmarks Sidebar ---- Cmd+B in OSX), right-click (Cmd+click in OSX) the "Bookmarks Menu" folder and choose "Sort by Name".
See: [[Sorting Bookmarks]] '''''~~red:and~~''''' http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox
For automatic sorting of Bookmarks see the add-on SortPlaces:

I have moved to uk from ireland and bought new iphone, set up using my existing Apple ID account and profile but won't let me buy install or update apps??
Can anyone advise me on what I need to do?
My existing account is linked to ireland as my bank account details are there, does this make a difference?
Please help!Until you get a UK bank account and credit card, buy and redeem UK iTunes gift cards for use in the iTunes and Mac App Stores. But you need to switch your region/country to the UK store in your account information, as you can't use UK iTunes gift cards in the Irish stores, the gift cards are country specific.

Safari launches but won't open a window
I'd set up Safari for my son under his own profile and it was working great with Parental Controls. When I went in one day to update his allowed sites, Safari launched but wouldn't open a window. I could access preferences, reset, etc., but it wouldn't open a new window and when I tried to open a tab, it loaded at the bottom of the screen for a split second and then crashed. I've deleted all the safari files, re-installed, downgraded - the downgrade worked but the Parental Controls didnt work.
Now what? None of the other Parental Control apps I've tried work as well as Safari's.

Safari window is stretched, getting it back?
I am viewing at 1680x1050 and I clicked the green button up top and my Safari window stretched pretty much full screen. Whenever I click it, it just gets a bit shorter or a bit longer. How do I get it back to the more narrow view it was on before? Thnaks
Hello. Can you drag the Safari window into its previous size with your mouse?, it should stay there.

Safari runs but won't display anything.
As the title says, all Safari windows seem to have gone somewhere! The app starts but there's nothing visible. Enter full screen and the page appears. Try anything else and nothing at all is displayed. The app seems to be running just fine, right clicking the Dock icon shows a list of open pages, clicking "Show all windows" greys out the Desktop but shows nothing at all. Clicking View and Window options has no effect. I've restarted, but no change. Very odd behaviour, never seen it before. Any solutions?
I tried switching that Resume feature off, shut all apps, restarted, but Safari is still refusing to display *anything* except in full screen mode.
(Resume was proving to be pretty irritating on other apps though, like TextEdit and Preview, so I'm glad to know the off switch is there!)
But this Safari issue is a real puzzle to me. The timing is awful, I need to start accessing my new university course website from today and literally the first time I try this issue appears. Not a complete disaster, I can still open in full screen, but I usually use half a dozen windows at once and being boxed into one is very awkward and not a good start. -
Safari launches, but won't open windows.
Safari will launch on my computer but will not open any windows. It is only on my account, not those of family members. Any suggestions? Thank you!
If any Safari extensions are installed, disable them and test. Otherwise proceed as follows:
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, perhaps including wireless networking on certain Macs. If you usually connect to the Internet via WiFi, and it doesn’t work in safe mode, connect using an Ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and perform a safe login, as follows: Enter your credentials at the login screen, then hold down the shift key and click the “Log in” button. Keep holding the key until the menu bar appears. In this mode, your login items, among other things, won’t load.
In safe mode, test again. Same problem(s) now?
After testing, reboot (if you booted in safe mode) or log out/log in (if you performed a safe login) as usual. -
Safari opens but won't display window
I am having trouble with Safari opening and not displaying a window to browse in.
I appreciate any feedack.I am having this problem as well, but it only occurs when launching Safari using the "Open at login" feature.
Opening at login launches the app but not a new browser window. Standard launching of the app automatically opens a new browser window. Anyone got any ideas what's up? -
Before upgrading, I used the following snippet of code in the "Location" field of a Bookmark:
javascript:self.resizeTo(screen.availwidth,screen.availheight);self.moveto(0,0);
However, with FF9 that no longer works. I attempted to change the front portion (before the open parenthesis) to:
browser.window.resize_to
but after I remove focus from the text box, it adds the "http://" to the front of the code and a "/" to the end of it. I have two questions:
#1. Is there a way to stop Firefox from adding the "http://" and "/" to the location box?
#2. Is there a better way to set up the bookmark (or another quick-access method) to automatically resize the window? You can only do that in the Scratchpad if an XUL window like about:addons or about:config is open.
*Firefox/Tools > Web Developer > Scratchpad (Shift+F4)
You can no longer run JavaScript code via the location bar in Firefox 6 and later.<br />
You can see an error message in the Tools > Error Console.<br />
That code now gets a null principal for security reasons and doesn't have any effect (Bug 656433).<br />
You need to create a (keyword) bookmarklet and run the code by invoking that bookmark.<br />
Use the Scratch pad (Firefox > Web Developer > Scratchpad; Shift+F4) to run JavaScript code.<br />
Open a tab with an XUL page like about:addons (Tools > Addons) to be able to resize or move a window via JavaScript code in the Scratchpad in Firefox 9+.<br /> -
I have a Safari window that won't close. If I do it just opens again.
The URL shows is feeds:Bookmarks%20Bar&news.google.com/?output=rss&uuid:965F0CB8-0A56-42D4-A324- 1C94F9394745. I clicked on something to do with feeds.
Any ideas. You can "force quit" apps from your Apple icon menu top left in your screen.
And since you are running Lion, try disabling Resume.
How To Disable Lion's 'Resume' Feature - MacRumors.com
Then restart your Mac, launch Safari. -
Hello! I’m having a few problems with Safari 8.0.2 on Yosemite (10.10.1). Whenever I click the icon it bounce and the black dot appears, but it won’t open and the dot disappears. Actually, the first time I open it after turning on the mac, it asks me if I want to open the last page I opened, but whatever I choose it just closes down.
If it may help, the last thing I’ve done before having this problem was when I was looking for a way to have whatsapp on the mac, and I downloaded a software (from a safe source though, or at least I believe so) that I deleted right after.
Thanks to everyone who’ll respond.Genieo Adware is installed. Removing it will help.

Safari launches, but won't open any webpage, including Safari
Installed Safari. Installation seemed uneventful, but when I attempt to launch Safari the window and menu bars will open but that's it. It won't open Safari's home page or any other. All I get is a blank window. What did I do wrong?
I have no idea how to deal with a "proxy issue." All I get is the Safari opening window and toolbar and the line, Loading "http://www.apple.com/startpage/" at the top, but it does nt open. I think I'm going to have to remove Safari. I use it on my other computers, but is simply won't work on this one and I'd love to know why. I tried the "develop" suggestion suggested by another person but all I get is a blank window with "Web Inspector" at the tip. I'm stumped, but appreciate efforts to help. Even if I have to dump Safari, I'd sure like to know what the glitch is. I've installed it twice.

checked all connections, but keep getting "idle"status. Nothing allows it to print. Only 5 weeks old, light use. Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Hey @ziyoo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when trying to wirelessly print from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have attempted prior to reaching out for support. At this time I do not think the wireless printing issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your printer or your network connection. Rather, I believe the wireless printing issue is being caused by your Operating System.
Recently Microsoft has released a Hot Fix to correct network printing issues within their Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. These wireless printing issues consist of 'partial printing' and 'offline' issues. The issues appear to affect multiple makes and models of wireless printers. Can I please have you click here to download the Hot Fix. Once the website opens please click the button for Hotfix Download Available. Please follow the onscreen prompts to install the Fix. Once the Fix has been installed please test printing again. If printing still fails you may need to restart your computer to allow the Hot Fix to take affect. Once your computer comes back on please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!
