Using commas in widgets

If anyone needs to use commas in widgets that don't support the use of commas, such as the checkbox widget because a comma causes all the following text to end up on a new line, you can use the special character Single Low-9 Quotation Mark instead as it appears identical to a comma but prevents the text from moving to a second line in the widget.
The first line of the checkbox widget is using a comma. The second line is using the low-9 quotation mark.
When it appears on a slide, the line with the comma gets separated into two lines while the line using the special character stays together.
On a PC the keystroke combination is Alt+0130. I tried looking up what the combination is on a Mac but couldn't find anything online for it.

As you say, I too have spent quite a bit of time in the help file, on Adobe’s forums, on various Captivate blogs, etc. and I’m still at a loss on using some of the built-in widgets, particularly the radio buttons, combo boxes and list boxes (my understanding is just limited to the fact that variables used don’t equate to specific actions).
Any examples of use out there? What exactly can I do with them? Can I somehow associate them with actions?
If anyone has any examples of using these widgets, I too would love to see 'em.
I just want to reiterate, as I'm not seeing any really helpful answer yet.

I imported all the images and then I wanted to reorganize the thumbnails - and when I do that, the order in the lightbox doesn't change and so it's not the same as the order of the thumbnails (after rearranging them). Please let me know if there is a way to fix this quickly, or do I have to do it all one more time

The order the items display in a composition widget is the front to back order of the items. You can rearrange the stacking order of the thumbnails/triggers using the Layers panel and/or the Object > Bring To Front, Send To Back, etc. menu items to adjust the order they're displayed during auto play or when clicking the next/previous buttons.

It is not possible to accomplish this with the Muse's Form Widgets. You may need to look for other online solutions and fetch the source code and add to the Muse page using the Insert HTML feature.

As an example, html widget has white background on iPad, and black on mac. The same goes for interactive widget.
The MathType text inserted is inserted as a image, and will have the same color when in fullscreen as when not. So I need the textcolor to be the same in both views. Anyone know how to fix this?

Here's a re-creation of my own, going off what you described. You said "all html widgets and all gallery widgets" have this problem. So I inserted a blank HTML widget and a blank Gallery widget, and typed into both. Inserted a MathType equation into both. I don't see any difference when I preview it on my Mac compared to the preview on the iPad. I want to help, but I can't help if I can't duplicate the issue.

Is it possible to make an animated drop down menu and still use the menu widget?

Hi- I am trying to create a menu bar that is hidden with just a tab exposed to indicate that there is a menu there. Upon rollover, the full menu bar slides down and reveals the menu items. I can't find a way to make it smoothly slide down so I settled for the Photoshop button and just moved the button position in Photoshop to fake it. The problem is now I need to find a way to still use the menu widget along with this. if that can't be done, can I use the Photoshop button and populate the menu there and abandon the menu widget?
Someone suggested using Edge Animate ( why the hell is this a separate software from Muse?) to make the animation. If that's a possibility, can the menu widget be used with the Edge file that's imported? please help me get to where I need to go however it needs to happen! Thanks in advance.

HT5067 When using a Keynote Widget with iBooks Author, do the transitions and builds between Keynote slides appear in the iPad preview version of the iBook, or only in the finished product?

I'm using the Keynote Widget in iBooks Author, and the Keynote presentation uses the Magic move transition between slides. When I preview the iBook on a new iPad, the Magic move transitions don't show up (i.e. the transition from slide to slide is standard, not Magic move). Any suggestions?

Hyperlinks and magic move should work but don't. However I found the following as a workaround for me. Use three slides instead of two to generate the magic move effect in Keynote presentations on Ibooks using hyperlinks only. As an example
Supose an object on slide 1 was set as a hyperlink to go to a slide which then had a magic move effect to a third slide. For some reason it works on the mac, but not on ibooks. However you can create the magic move transition effect by simply adding a "dummy slide" as follows. Suppose an object on slide 1 had an object which would hyperlink to slide 4. Duplicate Slide 4, and make the duplicate slide 5. Then set Slide 4 to automatically transition (with no effect) to the next slide (i.e. slide 5) after .5 seconds. Have Slide 5 set to transition to Slide 6 using magic move automatically after .5 seconds. By having the hyperlink point to slide 4 the magic move effect from Slide 5 to Slide 6 works fine (with a brief 1 sec delay). IF the hyperlink pointed directly to Slide 5, the magic move transition to slide 6 would not work.
For some reason having an extra slide makes magic move work even though it is not needed on the mac. I hpe this helps.

Why if using a composition widget as a dropdown target links fade if they extend over a text area

I am working on a site using the composition widget for a drop down menu. I find that if the target links extend over a text area, they fade out before one can click the link and while this can be overcome for desktop and tablet layouts, it cannot for phone layouts. The link below shows the issue. Any suggestions?

Why is it such a pain to use java in a country that uses commas as decimal separator?
A few weeks back I've asked here about the keypad decimal key. For some reason, java doesn't map the decimal key to a comma on the Portuguese (Portugal) keyboard layout. I've got no answer and I ended up using a custom plainDocument on the JTextFields to replace all points with commas.
Now, I've just spent the whole morning trying to store and use decimal numbers properly. For some reason, a Double/Float .valueOf method (or the corresponding parse method) simply ignores the locale in use and uses US defaults when parsing the string. I can't parse anything with commas in those methods and I should, as it is the decimal separator for the system and default locale being used by java.
First of all, I shouldn't be expected to perform replacements on every single operation that comes with a comma and I obviously can't be expected to program my own locale checking to decide what decimal separator to use in each final system. Second, is there any way to work with numbers seamlessly, without having to know the locale of the end user?
I'm sorry if this is all my fault for doing something completly wrong, I'm new to java and I did search around to no avail. I'm really frustrated with what seems to be a complete lack of support in java for locales other than the US one.

My point is that if strings are flying around with commas and if comma is the decimal separator on the end user's machine, any method aimed at parsing a numeric value out of a string should regard commas as such. I'm constantly replacing dots with commas and vice versa which could cause trouble if a different locale is used.
And I mean that as a rant. Given my inexperience with Java, there might be good reasons for such a behaviour as baftos argued. What I'm really interested is in finding the proper way to deal with this issue.

If you want to use ActiveX controls, you place an ActiveX container on the front panel, right click, choose Insert ActiveX Object and then browse for the object you want. There's several shipping examples like FamilyTree (MS TreeView object), and Ribbon, Simple Curve, and Torus that use ActiveX objects from NI.

Using comma (,) as a decimal separator

I know this isn't the right place to ask, but I cant get excel to use comma as a decimal separator.
All is set up right in system preferences and I still cant get it to work in excel.
So Im asking if any one know how to make the comma to be used for the decimal numbers and dot for thousands.
Or if any one can explain this to me, or better do it for me.

Instead of submit i want to use commit work but i also get a dump after commit work too.
