Using CS4 and spaces

Hi everyone,
I have recently moved from Creative Suite CS3 to CS4 and the CS4 windows will not move across to different Spaces.
I used to click on the window bar of the one I wanted to move, then do the shortcut for the space I wanted to move it to, and away it would go.
Now, with CS4, I move to the new Space but the window doesn't come with me.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I've had this problem with all the CSx since spaces was introduced... Dreamweaver seems to be the worst of the bunch. I never found a solution

I am having trouble using reverb of any kind; it does not sound natural, but rather "pixilated." Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I have used Silververb and Space Designer and am having the same problem...

I am using Logic Pro 9 with two MXL 990 microphones in my piano and a Rode NT1A for vocals. I have tried recording with added reverb and keeping getting not a natural reverb sound, but a rather "pixilated" one that does not sound natural. This is asking for the impossible! It does not sound natural because maybe it isn't and in judging so whats your reference anyway. If you are in dire need of some natural sounding room you can go and record it yourself. But even then, the chances that it sounds like you imagined it, are very slim.
There are very decent sounding reverberation plugins, based on artificial reverb generators or convolution-style, the last one is said to sound more 'natural' then the first one. Be it as it maybe, it really is like cooking food. You got all the ingredients for this delicious taste at hand and believe it or not to reach a satisfying result this is not enough, because if you do not mix the ingredients in the right proportion you will end up with a different dish you thought you'll get. This is exactly the same when one would mix audio, I dare say.
So treat yourself to some good ingredients and the rest is up to you, namely: taste and experience!
And looking at some of my past music productions I always find the same plugins for the 'ambient' task:
Altiverb by Audio Ease when I have acoustic ensembles (classical music mostly), the Sony Oxford Reverb in studio productions, Bricasti when I have to deal with drums and MMultiBandReverb from MeldaProduction for all-round stuff. Thats the base I start from, after that I can end up with dozen Reverb plugins which basically all are doing the same thing but just in a tiny different way.

I can longer place PSD files into Illustrator. Only jpgs are working. I'm using CS4 and Yosemite. What's up?

CS4 and Spaces

I've seen postings about photoshop CS4's conflicts with Spaces, but not recently and not about CS4 as a whole.
The main issue I experience is that when I try to permanently assign, for example, illustrator to Space 2(in the system preferences, spaces tab), and then open illustrator while in a different space. What happens is that half the application (particularly the application frame) opens up in space 2, while the splash screen hits whatever space I'm in, and with it all the toolbars and palettes. Then selecting half in the application in either space causes a back and forth switching between spaces, potentially causing the dock (which i believe manages Spaces) to crash.
the only ways to fix this are to activate spaces so that you can see all four, and then hold shift while dragging the toolbars and palettes over to the application frame OR to quit illustrator, switch to space 2 and open illustrator there OR to not assign a CS4 app to a specific space
OR to turn off the application frame. This basically works, and is what I do. But what happens is that the toolbars/palettes still open in whatever space you're in, but as soon as you open an illustrator document everything gets automatically switched permanently to Space 2.
I suppose this is partly an OS X bug, but it really is the CS4 app that is somehow not managing its windows correctly when the application launches. And it is somehow tied to a difference in how the application frame and the flash parts of the GUI (toolbars and palettes) are handled. Having an application's splash screen come up in the foreground when I'm in another application and just trying to open illustrator or photoshop in the background to a different space is (just) annoying, but is definately related to the larger problem.
please fix this. Being able to assign an application to its own space is really productive and useful. And I like the application frame, too bad I can't use it...

I currently use CS4 and have designs using this. If I upgrade to CC will I still be able to modify my CS4 designs? I'm thinking of unistalling CS4 to add memory to my computer.

If my system currently has CS4 and designs have been created with CS4, will I be able to modify those designs with Creative Cloud? Also, If I upgrade to Creative Cloud, should I uninstall CS4 to make more space on my computer?

Yes, legacy files can be opened in CC. Whether or not you uninstall CS4 is entirely up to you, but since opening files in newer versions may sometimes change appearances due to technical changes, it's usually a good idea to keep older versions around during transition phases, if only to check for those issues and verify that they are "real".

Using DVD+R or DVD-R using CS4 and Encore CS4

Does it matter whether I burn to DVD+R or DVD-R discs? In the past I have used DVD+R which seem to work pretty well when I play the DVDs on various machines; but are there any advantages/disadvantages of the two types that I should know about?

I agree - with current DVD players. However, there are some older players out there, that will choke on +R, or -R (depends on the model). Once, it WAS a big concern, but so long as all clients have current equipment, it should not matter.

PS - I also use +R Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden, and have zero issues. However, I do keep some -R blank discs in stock, just in case.

[CS4][Mac] Problemas CS4 y Spaces Leopard

Hola, hasta hoy trabajaba con la versión de Leopard 10.5.6 y los spaces de Leopard no funcionaban muy bien al cambiar entre aplicaciones de la CS4.
Hoy he actualizado a la versión 10.5.7 pesando que se solucionaría y nada, la cosa va a peor. Solo me ocurre con los programas de Adobe.
El problema es al pasar de un space donde está por ejemplo Photoshop a otro donde está Illustrator. Si no hay documentos abiertos no va al space, y si hay documentos abiertos va al space pero no enfoca en la aplicación.
No se si es un problema de Adobe o del sistema de Apple... a alguien más le ocurre esto? sabéis alguna solución?

En la literatura técnica de Adobe se establece categóricamente que Photoshop CS4 no es compatible con Spaces de Leopard, que la empresa no ofrece nigún soporte técnico al respecto y que si los usuarios tienen problemas en este sentido deberán dirigirse a Apple.
Los ingenieros de Adobe, entre ellos específicamente Chris Cox, alegan que la culpa es de Apple. Dicen que Apple no ha implementado sus propias normas y lineamientos, que Adobe ha seguido escrupulosamente las directivas de Apple pero que Apple es quien ha fallado en la implementación de Spaces.

Installing CS4 and keeping InDesign CS3

Can I install CS4 without removing InDesign CS3? I need to keep both on my computer. is there a trick to this? Also, if I decide to remove CS4 later from my computer and move it elsewhere, can I uninstall it without imperilling InDesign CS3?

You can install CS4 and keep CS3. Just remember that IF these are upgrades, you cannot use CS4 and CS3 on different computers simultaneously. They are for the use of a single person. Technically, your upgrade license for CS4 supersedes you license for CS3. You no longer have a license for CS3 anymore. I doubt Adobe objects to you using CS4 and CS3 on the same computer. You can remove CS4 on a computer and put in on a new machine. A commercial license allows the non-simultaneous use on two computers. You probably can turn on the old computer when you have an occasional job that requires CS3.

Problem with USB recognition using CS4 InDesign

Help- Anyone! I am using CS4 and Indesign will not open PDFs. I get the following eror message:
"Cannot open the file "Name of Record.pdf" .Adobe Indesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."
1) file is not open
2) Indesign previously opened pdf files
3) Nothing on the computer has changed, as far as I know.
Any suggestionss about the problem or a fix?

Can i run Adobe cs4 and Aperture 3.4.5 on mountain lion?

I have downgraded from mountain lion back to snow leopard only to find my old cs2 won't work,so i have decided to go back to mountain lion and upgrade to CS4.I just want confirmation that i will be able to use CS4 and Aperture 3.4.5 with mountain lion before i waste more $$$ please,cheers.

Yes, you can. CS6 would probably be a better option but CS4 will work. And Aperture 3.4.5 is the latest version and runs well on Mountain Lion. Aperture 3.3 and later require Lion or Mountain Lion; they won't run on Snow Leopard.

Indesign CS4 and Indesign CS5 on new imac TOGETHER!

I am purchasing a brand new imac (27in., quad core i5) which comes with the Apple Snow Leopard OS.
I am also purchasing the CS5 master collection.
A company that I freelance for is still using CS4 and wants me to create print layouts for them with indesign CS4 (they don't trust the .inx route).
Will I be able to run the entire CS5 master collection AND just indesign CS4 on my new imac?
Are there any issues or difficulties that I should be aware of?

Yes, you will be able to, but make sure you install CS4 first, get that going how you want it, (i.e. at least make sure it's working!) and then install CS5. If you ever have to uninstall and reinstall CS4 you're in for a bit of fun unfortunately, the only clean way to do it would be to uninstall the whole Master collection first... Having said that heaps of people do exactly what you're describing with no problems.
On thing to be aware of is that once you have installed CS5 all your CS4 Indesign files will automatically open in CS5 not CS4. You will not be warned about this until you have worked on it (Murphys law states that this will be for a long time) and go to save, upon which it will ask you for a new save location. The icons are slightly different so you could rely on that to alert you, and just use File > Open from CS4 or drag the files into CS4, or you could look at Soxy, which is a far more elegant solution, but IMHO is still not perfect, although apparently it's better on a Mac than on Windows.

How do I remove/delete the loops I've downloaded? I don't use them and they are taking up too much space on my hard drive.

Yes, I am logged in as the administrator. When I drag a loop to the trash it does nothing. The trash doesn't recoginize the item as trash and doesn't pop up and say trash like it does when I drag items from other programs to the trash.
