Using Descriptions and Places

I want to use the Places and Descriptions that I have in the Photo Info in slideshows and scrap books. How do I do that?
Also, I manually organize the photos and when I restart they are all out of manual order. I am confused. The Manual Sort By is still checked.

Places information is automatically used in the thrvel theme slide show
- descriptions depend on teh theme selected
Where are you "organizaing" your photos? In events? Albums? the slide show? Remember we can not see you or your computer and know nothing that you do not tell us so give adaquate information that someone might be able to assist you

Copy Faces and Places between libraries

I am new to Aperture 3. I am creating libraries for our camping trips. Each library will hold well over 1000 photos. I know how to use Faces and Places - the question is, when I start a new library at the end of this year, is there any way I can copy the Faces data at least over to the new library so I won't have to go through identifying everyone again? iPhoto, and now Aperture, have gotten pretty good at identifying who is who. I would hate to have to re-train it every time I open a new library with many of the same players in it.

It gives me space on my hard drive. I am new to Aperture, so I am open to other suggestions, but once I get several gig of photos in one library, most of which is for archival use not active use, I move the library to one of my external hard drives - still have access to it but it's not on my hard drive. So far, I have created a new library with 5 years' worth of photos in it. So that's the issue. I know Aperture could fill my entire hard drive and still function. I just like to have room for other apps to work.

If you are wanting to use the audio from clip A into clip B then try......
First check that Advanced tools are enabled: iMovie>Preferences>General>Show Advanced Tools.
Drag clip A from the Event UPON clip B in the Project. When you release the mouse you will get a pop up menue.
Select Audio Only. Note the other options for another day!!!!
You will get a green bar as Karsten mentions above ( move it , shorten it etc, etc.)
Show Audio Waveform by selecting Blue Waveform Box ,bottom right of Project Window.
You can adjust audio level from clip A and clip B to your requirements.You can set either to zero volume if you require.
This may not be what you meant by "to use in another place "
If you want just the audio to use outside of iMovie, try;
With the required clip/clips only in the project> Share> Export Using Quicktime and in Export Select "Sound To AIFF. Save to desktop in the first instance so you can easily find it.

I guess it depends on what you really want. If you really truly want the expected results you have listed above, which changes 1pm into 0100, instead of 1300, then you can do this:

How to synch description, date and places for Facebook?

I was trying to upload some pictures from Aperture to Facebook, and wanted to have it input the description, date and place for the photos.
I typed in everything I want and uploaded the pictures but no information was showed on Facebook. And the description on Facebook remained the photo's file name...
Is there any way that Aperture does what I want?

In my eyes the fault lies primarily with FB, as other services and apps recognize caption/Description pretty consistently.
If there is a fault in Aperture, it is that the sync with an Album on FB picks up the FB caption as a version name. It earlier tests, the filename of the original was not altered, but only the Version name.
I need to do some new testing about what can be transmitted from within the metadata to FB.

I am doing a student project on Vision guided pick and place of an industrial robot(abb) . I would like to know the steps involved in creating the block.
I have to locate the object , get its cooordinates through webcam. Then does a pattern matching.. and would send the cooordinates to microcontroller . then from microcontroller to robot controller.. then the industrial robot should pick the object and place it in a predefined place..

What you are describing is fairly involved, but here's are some tips. The key is to correlate the robot's coordinate system to the camera's coordinate system. I assume the camera is statically located above the pick-up area? I would move the robot to each corner of the frame to its pick position vertically, and note the robot's position at those locations. These 4 points in space will be correlated to the X,Y coordinates of the camera frame's pixels. You basically need to write a sub-VI with the inputs being pixel X and Y coordinates, and the output being the robot coordinates.
Write a test application telling the robot to go to any X,Y pixel location in the frame to test your sub-VI. If that is working, then you need to set up a pattern match. You will likely want to do a geometric pattern match. Have a look at this example: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5555
You will need your pattern match algorithm to return both the coordinates for your robot, and the orientation of the tool required to properly pick up the object (if the pick and place robot tool requires that it be in a specific orientation). So its basically up to you to convert the object's X,Y,and rotation angle in the frame that you get from the pattern match to whatever coordinate system the robot uses.
The placing algorithm could just be a orientation adjustment to put the object into placement orentation, and then the placement positions could be an array of robot coordinates that you iterate through after each pick.
Make sure to implement some safety mechanisms in your algorithms so that the robot can never move somewhere outside a safe range of coordinates.

As to DPI - digital photos have no DPI since DPI is Dots Per Inch and digital photos have no inches hence no DPI - when you print a photo then DPI is a mathematical calculation - dots divided by inches - it is not a setting
Print a 480 pixel photos as a 1" square and the print it 480 DPI (480 / 1 = 480) and print the 100 pixel image as a 1" square it will be 100 DPI (100 / 1 = 100) - print a 480 pixel photo as a 4.8 inch square and it is 100 dpi (480 / 4.8 = 100) - just a calculation - not a setting

Is it possible using Applescript to place a PDF as a link at a crop bounds other than Art Box?

I've spent countless hours trying to have an applescript place a PDF as an Illustrator Link at the PDF's Media Box using "make new placed item". The only result possible as far as I can tell is a link at the PDF's Art Box.
I've seached around and have seen others with the same issue, but no answers as to whether it is actually possible. As with most Applescript stuff, I am either way overthinking it or it is not possible directly.
Currently I have a workaround using an Applescript script controlling Acrobat to sidestep the problem by setting the Art and Crop box to Media box, then place as a link in Illustrator, but it is not a direct route into illustrator.
I have also noticed that in the "Adobe Illustrator CS5 Scripting Reference" that the "PDF options object properties" do not honor the PDF crop bounds (except for the default value of Media Box). Is this an inherent problem with Applescript/Illustrator and PDF crop boxes? Could it be that the options for Open PDF and Place PDF are crossed?

The AppleScript Dictionary says the same as the OMV and Jongs helper… CropToBox for placing & pageToOpen for opening… For me a misleading doc mistake… And forgiven for the fact that it should dammed well be there in the first place…

Plugin issue after using SignPlugin and Reader-enabling

Hi all,
I would like to ask for a help with plugin that we have developed for Adobe Reader.
We are running into an issue with the plug-in and I was hoping that you can help me out. It looks like plug-in works perfectly in the Acrobat but we have an issue with getting it to work with Reader as described below. I would greatly appreciate your help.
We have a problem with plugin after signing it using RIKLA certificate provided by Adobe and Reader-enabling.
Our plugin has been developed to allow users to sign PDF XML data from Reader user interface using custom library (sign library) and msxml3.dll library ( to transform PDF form XML into custom XML format). Plugin target is Adobe Reader 9 and it has been tested using Adobe Acrobat 9 earlier. Recently we received RIKLA certification key and after we tried to sign plugin and use it in Reader we started to have problems.
Plug-in, compiled directly from source code and installed in Adobe Acrobat 9 is working correctly. We haven’t experienced any issues and everything seems to be working properly.
The same plug-in signed using SignPlugin tools from Acrobat SDK 9.1 (command SignPlugin -kp keypairFileName -cf Reader_Integrated_Key_FileName MyPlugin.api) and RIKLA key is not working correctly in Adobe Reader 9.
The problem appears when plugin is trying to access external library msxml3.dll and execute createProcessor() function. The same function work properly in Adobe Acrobat 9 before sing plug-in with RIKLA key.
Below there is fragment with code that doesn’t work in Adobe Reader after reader-enabling but works in Adobe Acrobat.
Plug-in crushes in line pProcessor = pTemplate->createProcessor();.

Code that we use in catch() block lets us know that error source is “msxml3.dll” library.
As we have discovered problem occurs only after Reader-enabling .api plugin file. Clear compiled .api file works properly in Adobe Acrobat 9 without any problems.
We would like to know if you have experienced any similar issues? If yes, what have caused them?
Why same plugin is working in Acrobat 9 before signing and after signing using provided certificate it stops working?
Are there any restrictions of using external libraries in Reader that are not working there, and these restrictions are not obeyed in Acrobat?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should one use MPIO and/or CSV in a Windows 2012 R2 guest cluster?

Should one use MPIO and/or CSV in a Windows 2012 R2 guest cluster using VMware ESXi 5.5 presented Fiber LUN RDMs.
If MPIO were implemented is there a preference for HW manufacturer DISM vs. MS DISM in a guest cluster?
What partition size/offset is recommended for the MSR partition (currently set to 1000 MB) - unfortunately seeing storage validation error with failing block write at block 2048 (which in return may be related to VMware ESXi 5.5. disk partition layout)
The current setup works without using MPIO (question is would it help overcome the current failing persistent SCSI-3 reservation warning.)
What were the benefit of using CSV if any in a guest cluster? The Luns in scope would eventually hold SQL data and log files.

Regardless of what type of the shared storage is failover cluster have to use the shared storage, the shared storage can redirect the failed node data to others node, accordingly
the failover cluster can get the high availability.
From you descripted error there must you choose the VMware® unsupported storage with failover cluster, please refer the following VMware® official KB then reconfirm your topology

Sorry to be so late getting to this thread!
If you want to add something to a page, or find an object that's on a page, you need a reference to the page. Simply displaying the page with ShowBookmark won't give you a reference to the page--InDesign scripting, for the most part, doesn't rely on the selection and current view in the way that Word scripting does (this is a good thing, but that's a topic for another day).
You had to have a reference to a page to create the HyperlinkPageDestination that you used to create the bookmark--but, if not, you can get a reference to the page using (VBScript form):
Rem Given a reference to an instance of InDesign "myInDesign"...
myInDesign.Bookmarks.Item("Description").ShowBookMark
Set myPage = myInDesign.ActiveWindow.ActivePage
In general, though, you probably don't need the bookmark and the whole "ActiveWindow" construct--just use the reference to the page itself.
Now that you have a page, you can put things on the page.
Rem Create a rectangle

Rem Size and position the rectangle

If you have a text frame on the page that has the label "myLabel", you can get a reference to the text frame and add text:

Have you looked through the "Working with Documents" chapter of the InDesign CS3 Scripting Guide: VBScript and the associated scripts archive? I realize that you're using Delphi, but it doesn't look too difficult to convert from one to the other.
