Using Different Country's iTunes Store

I keep getting this error message:
"An e-mail you’ve specified to receive a gift is set up for an account in a different country’s iTunes store. Gift recipients may only redeem their gift in this iTunes Store."
What must I do to be able to send the gift?

Sorry, but you can only gift within the US. There's no way to give an iTunes Store gift to someone in another country.

I use the US iTunes Store, but my friend is on the UK iTunes Store. Is it possible for me to gift them a song or album that is not available on the UK store?

No, it's not currently possible, you can only gift content (and gift certificates) to people who use the same iTunes store as yourself - I think that the gifting will appear to go through, but when the UK person tries to redeem it, he/she will get an error message (even if the album was available in their store it would still error).

  • Using another countrie's itunes store

Has anyone tried to purchase a song from a different country's itunes store? I want to buy a song by Sandi Thom that is only available in the UK, but itunes says I can only purchase in the US store. Any suggestions? Thanks,

The issue of cross store purchasing comes up frequently so I'll just quote one of the most complete explanations (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:
The content owners do not allow cross-border sales from any of the legal download stores (not Apple or the proprietors of any of the other large stores..... though I believe there are a few exceptions among smaller/specialist vendors). You must therefore have legal residence in the country of the iTunes Store you wish to use. So in order to buy from another country's iTunes Store, you must (as proof of residence) have either:
    a) a credit card issued by a bank in that country with a billing address also in that country, or
    b) a mailing address for your residence in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTunes Music Store.
This, again, is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice.

  • How can I subscribe to a free podcast from a different country's i-store?

How can I subscribe to a free podcast from a different country's i-store? I tried, but it says I can use only store in the country of residence. I just bought imac to be able to watch podcasts from my home country which is not country of residence... It is completely unreasonable!

    You cannot.
As it has told you, you can use the itunes store of your country of residence and only while you are inside the borders of that country.
    Sorry.

I want to be able to keep app's, music, movies and my Cloud/Match exactly the same.  How do I do this?
Because of different local copyright laws and licensing you cannot keep everything exactly the same except for iCloud, which is not affected. You will have to create a new Apple ID for use on the UK iTunes Store with a form of payment drawn on a local bank and an address in the UK. As long as you have downloaded all your purchases and the computer is still authorized to play all protected video content that won't change, however Apps may give you trouble when updating because once associated with an Apple ID you can only switch between stores every 90 days.
As for iTunes Match you must contact Australian iTunes Store support to cancel the subscription and you will have to resubscribe on the UK store.

  • Using USA and UK iTunes store

I have residence in both USA and UK.  I just want to confirm if I change my billing address and credit card details from US to UK to acquire UK music and TV shows, when I change it back to US address etc, I will still have access to the material I bought from the UK?

... when I change it back to US address etc, I will still have access to the material I bought from the UK?
Yes.  To buy from a country's iTunes Store, you  need to have credentials from that country and be physically in the country when you make the purchase.  But once the content has been downloaded to your computer, you can use it no matter where you are.

  • Trouble using Paypal at the iTunes store

I have an iTunes account. I have enjoyed trouble free service, until now.
I decided to set up my daughter with her own account. First, I set up a Paypal account for here and put a little cash in it. Then, she and I set up an iTunes account for her, a nice lesson in online shopping and financial responsiblity. When I attempted to use Paypal as the method of payment, I was directed to a series of Paypal pages to complete the process. I was asked to supply a credit card as a backup funding source. There seems to be no way around this, or is there?
Here's the rub: I specifically used a Paypal account so that my daughter would be paying cash (electronically speaking). If I wanted to use a credit (or debit) card number, I would have simply used one at the iTunes store rather than Paypal. It doesn't make sense. Jillions of other online vendors accept Paypal and if there is a balance in my account they don't care if there is a credit card backup. They are happy to take the cash. Besides, it's not like there is large amount at stake.
Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

Paypal use to work as you say. It was all contained inside of iTunes without taking you to a secondary app (Browser) and forcing you to go through their protocol. You can't buy Gift Certificates now using Paypal either and if you try it takes you to Apples website and then never gives you a paypal option.
Yet on Apples own site they say Paypal is accepted when it's not an option for payment? Apple seems to be making a lot of mistakes lately. With Zune around the corner they better focus on GREAT customer service or they'll loose massive market share.

  • TS3297 Error when I use search function in itunes store and select an artist

When I use search function in itunes store and select an artist I get this message. Microsoft visual C++ run time library. Prog C:\progfiles\itunes\itunes.exe  R6025 - Pure virtual function call .  It then shuts down itunes and cannot provide a solution.
Have tried reinstalling itunes but it did not help.  Any other ideas?

I have yet to find a solution, but as a work around, do not click or select any of the suggested results while you are typing in your search. Type in your search, and press enter.

  • HT1918 Can i use debit card in itunes store for purchase in india

Can i use debit card in itunes store for purchase in india

Debit cards are no longer accepted in the iTunes Store, it seems. The current valid payment methods are listed here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5552
You can try contacting the iTunes Store and asking if there is any way to use your card, but they probably will tell you that it's not possible.
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
Using a debit card in any online service where it stores your card is a bad idea in any case since if someone gains access to your account in the service, they can quickly drain your bank account. Credit cards limit your liability, as do prepaid iTunes cards.

  • Trying to use music purchased from iTunes store with a home movie

I am making a home movie for family use only in either iMovie or Final Cut Pro, but neither app will allow me to use music purchased from iTunes store. Why not? It's not a licensing issue b/c there is no distribution other than my family at a big birthday party. The music imports but acts as if it has no audio once the file is imported to either program. help!
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Put the purchased songs into a playlist. Set iTunes burning options to burn AUDIO CDs. Burn the playlist to an audio CD (you can use a CD-RW if you don't want to waste a blank). After it is done, reimport the tracks off the CD. Now use the reimported versions in iMovie or FCP and they should work fine now.

  • Can I use vouchers to purchase iTunes Store music in another country?

Someone suggested that I can buy iTunes Store vouchers from eBay and then click "REDEEM" on iTunes Store to buy music EVEN IF I live in a country which does not have iTunes Store. But Apple is trying to make life really difficult for us. In the Q&A section of the iTunes website, Apple says:
"Gift certificates and gift cards purchased on the iTunes Store are valid for use only in the country in which they were purchased. Gift certificates purchased in the United States may only be redeemed by residents of the United States."
Not only that, those who have access to iTunes Store are making unreasonable profits from selling those vouchers. A US$15 iTunes Store voucher is sold for $18.
Can someone advise what I should do?

As I understand Apple's position - the update to the iPT is considered a major update - much like going from OSX 10.4 to 10.5 - hence the decision to require payment. I also understand that the iPT will work without the update - hence the device is still usable.
I too am not a lawyer. To purchase via the legal outlets is the right thing to do and if I were a musician I would thank you for doing the right thing.
To purchase a card via e-bay and complaining that there was a mark up - the mark up was not from Apple - it is from the person that is selling the card on e-bay. It may not be a violation of copyright - but it is possibly a violation of distribution rights.
This discussion has been hashed out here in the forums many times so I will let you do a search if you want to know more about why Apple has to have different stores for different countries. If it were up to me the one-size-fits-all model would be my preference.

  • Ivory Coast not in the iTunes Store's list of countries? Country on iTunes Store cannot be changed to Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire)

    Hi,
I would like to know if Apple is planning to add more African countries to its list of Itunes Store countries (and if so aproximately when).
    NYC or in London.
Here is my issue. I have moved from London to Abidjan (Ivory Coast) over a year ago and my foreign bank cards have recently expired which means any payments with these are now impossible. I will get my new cards during my next trip to the UK in 6 months.
I have been trying to make several purchases and most recently to upgrade from Mac OS 10.6.8 to OS X Mountain Lion but I can't because it is currently impossible to change the Itunes Store country to IVORY COAST/ Cote d'Ivoire (from the United Kingdom).
To top it off, although it is now possible to make iTunes payments trough www.clickandbuy.com (was excited and went through the process of setting up, verifying and prefunding a Clickandbuy account to make my OS X Mountain Lion payment) iTunes refuses a payment if the country of the credit/debit card registered with Clickandbuy (Ivory Coast) is different from that of the iTunes store country (United Kingdom).
This is a huge disappointment because I fail to understand why one would use Click and Buy or Paypal or ay other similar secured online payment service to make a payment in Itunes if one can use iTunes directly. What was the point of adding Click and Buy as a mean of payment in the first palce? and if they were able to verify my account, then why can't Apple do the same especially when I am an existing client?
Seriously this means Apple customers from certain African countries are being discriminated, if I was based in Cotonou or Accra, I would be allowed to change my store to Benin or Ghana and make payments with a local credit card. This is not fair.
Apple pls you have to do something about this Country issues in the iTunes Store!
    Thanks
    A disappointed Apple user
