Using digital IDs/SMIME on the iPhone3G

Hi all,
Has anyone tried loading/using a digital ID on the iPhone?
Our corporate policy is for all messages to be digitally signed when being sent and I want to know if this works out of the box or not.
Any confirmation or suggestions would be greatly appreciloved.
Thank you,
~Brett A. Scudder~

I tried using digital IDs for authentication via SSL mutual authentication in Safari and it did not work.
I haven't tried S/MIME or digital signatures.

  • No System Sound when using Digital Out. What the?!

Hmmm. I've searched and read many of the posts regarding sound problems on the mac mini but none experiencing what i think(?) is my problem. That being that when I use a toslink to connect my mac mini to my an external 5.1 amp the following is disabled:
    - Volume control in menu bar disabled (greyed out)
    - Apple Remote no longer controls volume
    - DVD Player volume does nothing
    - System Sound Preferences show 'Digital Out' but no options
Can someone confirm that these should still be adjustable? I can't believe that the now I have to use my stereo remote to control my Mac ?! Kind of ruins the 'Mac as a home theatre' experience. Unless I can find a solurion I guess it's back to analogue for me :o(
    Please help!
    Wayne.
Mac Mini, iBook, Flat Panel Lamp iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I can't believe it! I'm not an audiophile I just wanted to have the clearest quality sound, so for Apple to allow fibre optic connection but disable the ability to change volume just flat out *****. There should at least be the option to treat the connection as stereo. Why should I have to switch back and forward to an analogue cable if i want to use the front row remote? Not very well thought out Apple!
Thanks for the Remote Buddy suggestion will look in to it.
Anyone else got any ideas for a work around??

  • Export pdf and save as using digits.pdf eliminating all the text characters from the source file.

    Hi all,
Usually when we export pdf from indesign or whatever software,,, the pdf file naming will be as per source file...
eg.,  123456_dfdfjljf_ULCC.indd will be exported and saved as 123456_dfdfjljf_ULCC.pdf.
my request is "the pdf should be saved as 12345.pdf avoiding all the characters following first digits.
hint: first digists may be more or less than 4 digits....
My request is any number of digits should be saved as 23232.......pdf and avoding the following characters.
please help me... i have hell lot of pdf to export from indesign.......
    thanks
    bobylon.

There is no "whatever" here - when you export from InDesign or other software each piece of software makes its own naming decisions. It isn't an Acrobat or JavaScript thing at all.

  • Acrobat slow opening files with Digital IDs

hi!  I was hoping others were having this issue.  I have a client that has over a dozen Digital ID Signatures stored on our network drive.
When she tries to open a file with multiple Digital ID Signatures, Acrobat takes forever verifying the Signatures.  I can disable the security end, but that's not an option because of the people we are sending these files to.
Is there anyway to speed up the performance?  Or will they just have to accept it?
    Thanks for everyone's time.
    Alvin

    Hi Alvin,
Sadly, there's not a whole lot that can be done to mitigate the problem. Even without a lot of digital IDs installed on the system any time you open a file with that many signatures it takes a long time to validate. Part of the problem is a design flaw where signature 1 gets validated, then when Acrobat moves onto signature 2 it validates signature 1 again because each signature creates a roll-back version of the PDF (View Signed Version) and each rollback version is validated independently. When you extrapolate that out to 20 signatures you can see how much signature validation is going on. We are working on streamlining this process for future versions of Acrobat, but for now it's a liability that you can't get around.
The number of digital IDs is a separate issue where Acrobat does all of the chain building at the front end (it's no longer on app open like it used to be, but as soon as Acrobat has to iterate the list of digital IDs). You don't have to open a signed file to trigger this, but that is one of the triggers. Acrobat has to test each signature to see if it has access to the private key in order to allow the user to clear the signature. It's access to the private key in the digital ID that enables the "Clear signature" menu item.
    Sorry for the bad news,
    Steve

  • Hide Windows Digital IDs

I want to hide all Digital IDs in Adobe Reader 11 that come from the Windows Certificate Store. The users should only be able to use Digital IDs created with Adobe Reader.
Is there an option to exclude Windows IDs? I know that I can delete them from the Windows Certificate Store, but this does not help because I need them for other purposes.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Is there a work-around to enable Digital Photo Pro on the Microsoft Surface Pro ????

Is there a way to use Digital Photo Pro on the Microsoft Surface Pro?
As I understand the problem  DPP is unable detect the screen resolution of the tablet ( the defauilt res of the tablet
    is 1920 x1080) with a minimum of 1024 x768.
It would be usful if one could type in your working screen res into at startup if that's the only problem
___I've looked at other screen drivers from Intell but I realize if I could install thrm I'de lose the touch functionallity
Are there any other ideas out there???
    Thanks  artB

Canon DPP is Canon provided application for desktop/laptop computers and they don't have a version for any tablets as far as I'm aware (not even iOS or Android versions).
But there are other photo editing programs that would work.  I have an iPad.  While Apple has their own photo software (which isn't going to work on a Windows tablet) Adobe has an app called PS Touch.
PS Touch isn't nearly as full featured as Photoshop.  It limits the image resolution (it resizes any images that you import to it so they don't exceed the max resolution) but it does have most of the commonly used adjustments.  So if a person were just trying to get something out, it works in a pinch.
One other catch is that PS Touch can't deal with RAW images... so it's JPEG only.  But I can import JPEGs off the card into the iPad and then edit them -- not as well as I can if they're on a regular computer, but this is what I'ved when I'm away for a weekend with my camera.

  • HT1539 How can a digital copy be used in a household with multiple apple ids, synced on the same computer?

How can a digital copy be used in a household with multiple apple ids, synced on the same computer?  I want to put a digital copy on my device, and on my wife's device.
    Please help.

    you're welcome.
actually, unless you take an extra step, the first opened swf will close.  if you want the 2nd to close, the initial receiving lc will send a message to sender that causes the sender to close.

  • What are the advantages of using Map IDs?

    Hi:
I am trying to find out the advantages for using map ids as
opposed to just using the file names for the topics, but I couldn't
find this information in the RH7 Help or the forums. Can you please
    list the advantages and disadvantages.
Also, I am describing how I wish to implement the context
sensitive help feature for my application and you can tell me which
approach is better. We make an application that is packaged within
a Java IDE. We want to launch context sensitive help topics from
the wizards and cheat sheets. Now, this context sensitive help can
be either be installed on the local machine or network (file://
protocol) or available on our portal (https:// protocol). We do
have the infrastructure in place to let the user decide whether
he/she wants to access the local help topic or the one over the
internet. Will map ids work for both the scenarios?
    Thanks,
    K

It sounds like your application call needs to call an online
version of the help first and if this is not available to point to
a local copy. Is that right? If so, how this happens is entirely in
the hands of your developers. I know it can be done, just sketchy
    on the actual procedure.
As far as the CSH in the help is concerned, you can use
mapids for both versions of the help if you want. If using webhelp
you'd do well to check out
    this
    link on Peter Grainge's site.

  • ITUNES - Are there disadvantages to using different Apple IDs for inistalling the .app?

ITUNES - Are there disadvantages to using different Apple IDs for inistalling the .app file not overwrite the previous one at itunes?

In my opinion it is best to use one Apple ID on your computer and iPad. Using multiple IDs causes confusion.
I also suggest that each person with their own iOS device have their own unique Apple ID. On the computer create different accounts for each user so that iTunes on each account can be associated with the correct Apple ID.

  • I use digital voice editor 3 on my pc..... want to convert to a program for the MAC.  Any suggestions????

    Hi!
Ohhhh how I hope someone out there can help me with this issue!  I use Digital Voice Editor 3 on my pc and would prefer to use my MAC however don't know of any program similar/comparable to DVE 3.
Anyone know of anything out there I can use instead of what I'm using on the pc????
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

The best? A PowerMac (tower). Mainly due to the fact the the iMac isn't expandable. For example, all Macs have one bus for all their Firewire ports; adding a PCI Firewire card to a tower system is cheap and easy and creates a second Firewire bus that helps avoid dropped frame issues when capturing to or recording from an external Firewire drive from your DV device. Can't do that on an iMac though ... no PCI slots.
Also, having the capability of adding a second internal hard drive is something totally lacking in an iMac. If you're editing DV/DVCam/HDV, you'll get much better throughput with a second internal drive that an external drive. And with some kits available, you can have up to 5 SATA drives inside a G5 tower. The capacity for more RAM is a plus also ... I'd reccomend at least 2 gigs minimum ... but you can add more as needed.

  • E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12 after Prior Success using Digital Editions. I've tried everything the forums recommend already.

I keep getting E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12 even though I've had success many many times on my mac. I've updated, uninstalled and reinstalled, unauthorized and reauthorized both the nook at the Digital Editions. What else can I do to read my library book? Through overdrive I can read the download on my phone, so there is no problem there. Why can't I read it on my computer???? I don't understand why this just started happening after many uses. I even tried clearing out Every single associated file... nothing...

I was able to figure it out using the help of another user who helped me REALLY deauthorize and then reauthorize my ADE. It worked, and my library books are back on ADE, AND I can reauthorize Nook properly (I was getting an error)!! The following is by a Staff Member Dominic Michael
"Please try the below steps (read the note section before clearing the registry):
    Mac:
Deauthorize ADE. To do so, navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to trash.
    Authorize ADE again.
    Windows:
    Click Start > Run.
Type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.
In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept
Right-click the Adept key and click Delete.
In the Confirm Key Delete dialog box, click OK. ADE is deauthorized now.
    Authorize ADE again.
    Note:
Deleting the registry will deactivate all ADE authorization credentials on this computer. You will then be able to open eBooks on this computer only if you know your authorization credentials. Also you will not be able to open books that are fulfilled using anonymous accounts (authorized computers without an ID)."
    THANK YOU Dominic Michael

the external GPS is used only for 911 but the device will not operate without it...this causes great inconvenience for me, having to run that cable to a window in the two houses I use it..is there a way to disable the GPS if I do not care about the 911 functionability..?  this is the only downside I have with the network extender and it renders my device useless..

Nope, GPS is a Federal requirement for anything operating a cellular telephone signal.  You don't ever plan to call 911 until you are in an emergency.  I don't see that requirement changing any time soon.
If you are truly inconvenienced by the VZW network extender then perhaps you should disable you calling features in these areas and swap over to WiFi only.  There are many services and apps out there that can route your phone services through internet service providers.

  • Adding digital IDs

I have just upgraded to Acrobat Standard v8.0. Until now I have been running Acrobat v4.0
I have been attempting to add digital IDs created in v4.0 using the .apf profiles generated by that version. However I am receiving the following error message:
Could not open digital ID file with password provided. Try again.
I have confirmed that I am using the correct passwords by running v4.0 and logging in under self-sign signatures using the appropriate passwords.
    Can anybody offer any advice?
    Thanks
    Mike

What I found that worked is to enter the password, press the TAB key (don't click finish), re-enter the password  AND THEN click finish.  What appears to be happening is that the confirmation password box never appears. By hitting the tab key you are going into that invisible field and confirming the password. This has now worked for me on several documents.

  • Recovering lost Digital ID to open the file.

    Dear Friend,
I have some PDF files which were digitally signed and now the harddisk of that system got physically damaged where digital IDs or signatures were saved. Hence now when I attempt to open the files after copyning them on new harddisk it returns the error as in the snapshot added below. Please go through it.
Isn't there any way to open this file(s) by recovering the Digital ID which is lost permamently?
I am of the strong opinion that the solution lies with only with th Acrobat team or experts as the lender of the last resort.
I am struggling for it since two years but in vain. I can even attach and send you the file please contact me  at [email protected]

The message you are seeing is because the PDF was "encrypted" using a digital certificate, although the document may have contained a digital signature it is not related to this message.  A digitally signed PDF will open in Reader\Acrobat regardless of whether the digital certificate used to sign the docuemnt is stored on the computer or not.
When a PDF is encrypted using a digital certificate, it is encrypted for a specific user or multiple users with their respective "public key" portions of their digital certifiate.  For the intended user to open the encrypted PDF, the system used to open the PDF must have access to the corresponding "private key" of the digital certificate.  The "private key" is stored in a file with a .P12 or .PFX extension (other ways to store theses credentials include on a smart card or a Hardware Security Module),
The only way to open this document is to have access to the "private key", if you don't have a back-up of this, or access to another computer where the credential is installed then you will not be able to open this document.
If you happen to know the author (or the person who encrypted the PDF) you could contact them for an unencrypted copy of the PDF, or ask them to remove the encryption if possible.
    Regards
    Steve
