Using Digital Out of Audigy SE on Vist

HI Guys!
Following Problem: Got the Audigy SE and the correctly installed Vista Driver. I do get sound by normal speakers. But now I bought the I/O Module for opical link. In normal Windows use, I don't hear anything. It works on WinXP and I can make the Soundblaster to say something if I go to preferences and test DTS but thats it. Does anybody now how to set "Digital Output only"? Please help me!

i am having the exact same issue. i am running windows vista 64 bit. - a month ago i was looking for a cheap, 7. sound card with digital output. i found the audigy SE.- when i recieved it, even though the card said it could do digital outputs, nowhere did it say i had to buy a separate module for it. so now i search for the module and buy it.(on another note why cant this be included, it was like $5. and why don't most of the big name online retailers carry it)- i plug in the module into the sound card, run a coaxial cable from digital output on soundcard to digital input on my reciever. no sound- check settings, disable analog speakers, disable onboard sound. still no sound.- i somehow found my way to a tab which allowed me to test various digital formats. i select a format, hit test, and it worked. i heard sound!? tried another one and it works!- i open a movie file... no sound. i look at the volume manager and there is an indicator saying that sound is being broadcast, but im not hearing anything.- i retest the digital formats. it works.- i open a movie file. no sound. from what i can tell, creative ships a utility that lets you change some setting from 44.8kpbs to 96kpbs or somethingl ike that (sorry i don't know anything about audio, and im having trouble finding the page again). Doing this allows digital sound to work with some devices. But the utility does not work with vista, so we are screwed!?I?can get 5. sound by using the 3 standard jacks and an analog. but they support only front, surround, center/sub. no rear surround support!? And its analog!?PLEASE HELP!

  • What is better to use: digital out or 5 channel speaker level out

    Hi
Is it better to use digital out on sound card or 5 channel speaker level output? If you could explain it to me...(i'm new so that's why i am asking this)
    Thank you

First you need to determine what options you have, if you have an amp/decoder
use digital out because that then frees up the line-outs which you can use for other devices. Quality wise not much difference.

  • No digital out on Audigy 2 va

I upgraded from an Audigy to 2 and I'm trying to use some Boston Accoustics BA7500G digital speakers. I normally would tick the box "Digital out" on the speaker settings on my A and set 4/4. as the setup and I would have 4 speaker sound. However with the A2 I *DO NO GET* that "digital out" tick box, where it would be on the speaker config window is instead a blank area. Any ideas? I also did a fresh install of WinXP in a spare partition and using the drivers from the A2 CD I get the same result.

I am having a similar problem with no output to my BA7500Gs, however, I am using the SB Li've! 24-bit card that DOES have the tick box for digital out only. If you speaker set is from an old Gateway system, we may be suffering from a cable problem since according to Jeremy-CL in the posting "Creative Labs<SPAN class=navbar_sep>: Speaker Systems<SPAN class=navbar_sep>:<SPAN class=navbar_text>Re: Boston Acoustics + Sound Blaster + Windows XP = no sound?", Gateway sort of rigged the sound card to work with the digital BA7500G speakers. I have opened a separate post <SPAN>BA7500G + Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit + Windows 2k = no sound in effort to find a resolution. Will provide one if found.

  • Aggregate device using digital out and line out

I am trying to create an aggregate device using the digital out and the line out built into the mac pro. However, I only get sound from the device marked as the clock. Is it possible to aggregate these two outputs? or are they not compatible?

    Hi CristianEC,
i think the error number was -200022, because the PFI lines for the two PWM counter look all your digital ports.
You can see this if you look on into the pinout for your device. You need an device with some additional digital ports.

  • No System Sound when using Digital Out. What the?!

Hmmm. I've searched and read many of the posts regarding sound problems on the mac mini but none experiencing what i think(?) is my problem. That being that when I use a toslink to connect my mac mini to my an external 5.1 amp the following is disabled:
    - Volume control in menu bar disabled (greyed out)
    - Apple Remote no longer controls volume
    - DVD Player volume does nothing
    - System Sound Preferences show 'Digital Out' but no options
Can someone confirm that these should still be adjustable? I can't believe that the now I have to use my stereo remote to control my Mac ?! Kind of ruins the 'Mac as a home theatre' experience. Unless I can find a solurion I guess it's back to analogue for me :o(
    Please help!

I can't believe it! I'm not an audiophile I just wanted to have the clearest quality sound, so for Apple to allow fibre optic connection but disable the ability to change volume just flat out *****. There should at least be the option to treat the connection as stereo. Why should I have to switch back and forward to an analogue cable if i want to use the front row remote? Not very well thought out Apple!
Thanks for the Remote Buddy suggestion will look in to it.
Anyone else got any ideas for a work around??

  • No Sound when using Digital out with Mac Mini

The Digital out on my mac mini has become seriously unreliable. The sound slider is all the way up but locked, no movement is possible. The Toslink cable shows light, and when plugged into another device the amplifier receives sound.
This is an intermittent problem, for awhile rebooting would make the sound come back, however this has stopped working.
unplug the toslink and the built in speaker plays fine. Sound slider becomes movable.
If you sent the sound slider to 50% then plug the toslink back in it jumps to 100% and all controls ar grayed out and 0 sound.
any troubleshooting tips would be most appreciated as this is my primary audio video device.

Not likely. Think about this: The output is simply a digital stream of bits. Volume does not apply to digital bits... The first place where you can adjust volume will be in an outboard DAC, a preamp or an integrated receiver.
For a great DAC, check out ps audio "digital link III", retails currently for around $695, B stock may be avail for around 550. There is a cheaper quality DAC available from Cambridge Audio "Digital Magic", but it is not in the same league as the PS Audio or other higher cost DACs (such as Benchmark Media's DAC1).
For a fantastic audio system that takes digital audio from a Mac Mini, I have a PS Audio DL III taking Toslink from the Mini and feeding RCA analog into a Zpre from Parasound with a couple of Zamp (zone amps) from Parasound going into very nice bookshelf speakers and in ceiling speakers.
The volume is controlled by the Zpre amp ...As it must be

  • Audio Probelms with some DVDS/BLU-RAY discs when using optical out to Audigy 2

I have my PS3 connected to my Audigy 2 ZS soundcard via optical?cable to play 5. sound on my PC sound system (Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.). I have finally successfully played discrete 5. sound with some DVDs. I have changed my optical out setting to bitstream in the DVD/BD menu (XMB) and selected optical with everything checked in (XMB). So far, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and Minority Report have worked in proper 5. (not stereo matrixing). Both Dolby Digital and DTS tracks (I know it works because it sounds twice as good as Dolby?Digital) ?work in Minority Report. The problem is... Jurassic Park (DTS) and my Blu-ray MIssion Impossible 3 have no audio (probably more too). The STRANGE part is if I fastfoward both films by .5x (so that audio plays in FF) I can hear audio. When FF by .5x the display signal on the top of the screen changes from DTS or DOLBY DIGITAL: Multi Channel to DTS or DOLBY DIGITAL: 5..
What is with that? Also I still do not get audio in any games, Resistance (Blu-ray)?or any game demo but I do get the audio from the game display screen (XMB). Please if anyone has?any?useful advise or information it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot use Read Out Loud function in MS Vista

I have not be able to use the Read Out Loud function of Adobe Reader since I got Vista.  I have recently written a book and I want others to be able listen to the book in PDF format but they cannot.  A good friend of my sister is legally blind and wanted to know if I had an audio version for her so I asked her if she had Adobe Reader and she said she did.  So I then asked if she had MS Vista OS but she is not sure.  If she does she and other who have Vista and any version of Adobe Readerwill not be able to use the Read Out Loud function as far as I know.  Any ideas as what the issue can be?  I have had Vista tell me it was some kind of security violation and I tried to exempt it but Vista would not let me.  Here is the error output from today "Faulting application AcroRd32.exe, version 9.3.3.177, time stamp 0x4c1d77af, faulting module lhcom02W.dll, version 2.13.0.0, time stamp 0x3cfc8155, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00018818, process id 0xeac, application start time 0x01cb4798dc61d030."  I have 9.3.3.4 but previous version still did not work either.  I was hoping the latest update would have worked.  signed: Frustrated and Disappointed in Indiana

By changing my preferences in Adobe Reader (Edit/Preferences/ Reading) from the default, it seemed to kick the function into action!  The volume is still very low, though, even though all the volume slide controls are on max.
    But progress anyway!

  • Using Digital Out and Speakers at the same time.

I was under the assumption that pluging headphones or the fiber-optic cable into the audio out jack switched the internal speakers off; i.e. it was done in hardware. I just realized this can't be true since you get the start-up tone out of the internal speakers even when something is plugged into the Audio Output jack. Apparently the switching is done in software and not hardware. If this is true, does anyone know how I can setup my iMac so that the internal speakers are active even when something is plugged into the jack. As it is now, you can't even configure the internal speakers as long as the jack is in use.

  • Need I/O module to use digital sound with Audigy

Am I understanding this correctly that I need to buy another piece of equiptment to make the sound card work for digital sound? A Digital I/O module for another $5?Seems pretty dumb not to include this.

No, you DON'T need the Digital I/O to use the digital output of your card. Just a plain 3.5mm stereo jack with a pair of RCA connectors on the other end - it will give you the digital coaxial connection. If you want optical digital connection, yes, you need the extra module. And for that speakers, NO, you cannot use a digital connection. • Creative Audigy 2 ZS digital OUT connector compatibility with Bose Lifesytle Series

    Hi all,
I am a SoundBlaster fan and have been using their SB cards for a long time.
I recently got a new SoundBlaster 2 ZS Card from my friend, I hooked it up to a 5. Logitech Speakers (analog), it works fine.
I tried connecting it to my Bose LifeStyle (35) Series II system.
I bought a Phono plug to /8" Mono Plug Cable and connected the Digital Out (of Audigy) to the Coax digital-In of Bose System.
    There's no sound.
    I tried many combinations like,
    SPDIF passthru,
    Changing Sampling Rate
    Re-installing the Drivers
I know well that the BOSE system works fine, as I am using the Digital Coax connector to connect to my DVD Player and I also connect it to the SPDIF connector on the ASUS System (onboard 5. audio). I have'nt faced any problems there.
The only difference between the DVD Player / ASUS system and Audigy is the the first two use a standard SPDIF while Audigy does not.
I am wondering if this connector difference is a problem or is it a compatibility issue between Bose Lifestyle 35 and Audigy 2ZS.
I am posting this to see if anyone had similar experience, or have any suggestions.
    Thanks
    Bobby

Hi everybody, I have a similar question:?I'm building a mediacenter pc, and I need a Creative audio card for carry out 5. surround signal from the pc to my Bose Lifestyle SPDIF connector... case is similar to above, except for I don't have a Soundblaster card embedded in the motherboard... ?I've read something in the Forum, but still can't figure out which sound card should be the best for me AND which cable should I use to connect them... Any help will be really appreciated...
Many thanks and sorry for my english... :smileytongue:

  • Can i generate PWM output from digital out of my PCI 7041 RT DAQ card?

I want to generate 4 PWMs using my PCI7041 card. I do have only 2 analog outputs and 2 counters to output my signal that's why I want to use digital out of my card for PWM. How can I do that? If there is any example then please let me guide that way.

    Hello rajen,
There is a good link to PWM in LabVIEW using counters here.
As for using analog output, you will need to be able to continuously update your output waveform. I've attached a program that demonstrates this. Hope this info is helpful.

  • Audigy 2 ZS digital out working in Vist

I can't listen anything with the digital out in vista, everything is coneted well and selcted optical out in speakers by default.... anybody working? please how to?ThanksMessage Edited by egde on 02-26-20070:44 PM

There are two types of transfering methods for digital signal - optical (fiber) and coaxial (wire).
If your card is plain A2Zs (no external Dri've or Digital I/O then, you're trying to get signal passed to external device through fiber cable (optical) when your connection type in Audigy is through wire (coaxial).
You need to use normal cable as like [mini jack plug] --> [RCA] (if you use std stereo mini jack plug to 2 x RCA cable, the tip is the hot in plug --> white RCA (I quess).
If your receiver does not have coaxial input for ext. sources then you need to get the Digital I/O from Creative or some othr coaxial to optical converter.

  • Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.

    hello there!
i have the same problem - when i use the equalizer i can save a preset without problems,
but if i reboot the pc i first have to open the equalizers window to make the equalizer work. without having opened the equalizer window it seems to be not activated.
does anybody have an idea how to fix that problem?

  • Audigy ES Digital out probl

Hi, im trying to hook my Kinyo d565 speakers and decoder up to the digital out on my audigy soundcard.
Now first off, the decoder has 3 inputs - analogue stero, digital RCA(coaxial), and digital optical.
i've tried doing everything in audioHQ to get any sound out of my speakers (they work fine when i just use the line out on the sound card and the stereo input on my decoder).
i've connected the digital out on the soundcard to the optical in on the decoder using a 3.5mm to toslink optical digital cable.
i have no idea why im not getting any sound at all. is it my cable? - do i need to get a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable?
any help would be greatly appreciated
    ps.
i've tried all the things like selected 2 speaker output, disabling decoding of ac3 etc etc....
