Using Discoverer in Oracle8i standard edition

I wonder if it's ok to use Discoverer4i against Oracle8i DB (standard edition).

Thanks.
Is there any idea how We can Upgrade ? Some production databases running at my Oracle Standard Edition.
Is that a Risk ?
Is there is any other way to install OLAP ? Is there any other Patch available for OLAP ?

  • Standard edition unable to connect Discoverer 10g??

    I am doing a proof of concept. I am using the Oracle 10g Standard edition DB and Discoverer. I downloaded th e Discoverer Admin and created an EUL over some sample tables. Now when I attempt to connect the error End User Layer Tables version 5.1.1.0.0.0 requires End User Layer Library of at least Version 10.1.2.45.20.0.
    Is this telling me I can not do this proof of concept with Oracle DB standard edition?

    You need to ensure that the version of Discoverer Admin is the same as the version of Discoverer Plus/Viewer/Desktop you're using. From what you're saying, I think you're using the version of Discoverer Admin that comes with either 9iDS or 10gDS, you then created your EUL and now you're trying to connect using Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10.1.2.
    To sort this out, download the BI Tools that come with Business Intelligence 10g http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/ias/1012/OracleBITools10gWin.exe then start the version of Discoverer Admin that comes with this download, connect to your EUL and you will be asked whether you want to upgrade the EUL tables. Go ahead and do this, and then you should be able to use Discoverer 10.1.2 against your EUL.

  • 1. Will CAL Licenses works if i use Windows Server 2012? 2. What GB of RAM can be used with Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition?

    I have been using Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition for my business purpose and there are at-least 30 Users who logged in into the server Via Remotely from different location. I want to upgrade my server with latest one with some extra cores and RAM for
    better and smooth operations for all users. So, i have a doubt whether my CAL Licenses will works with Windows Server 2012 or i need to purchase the new one for the same?
    Moreover, if i don't upgrade my Windows to any 2012 edition and stay on 2008 Standard Edition how much maximum RAM can be installed at a time? is there any limitations? if Yes, please let me know how do i upgrade my Windows 2008 Standard Edition to any other
    business edition to avoid such limitations of RAM?
    Waiting for your favorable and quick response.

    Hi again,
    th eupgrade optiuon from Standard 2008 to Enterprise 2008 was only available for customers with open value contract with activ esoftware assurance then they can purchase the step up license from Standard to Enterprise.
    the only way to have the Enterprise 2008 Edition is to make th edowngrad efrom 2012 Standard to 2008 Enterprise. it means that if you purchase the 2012 R2 Standard Edition, you may downgarde to Enterprise 2008/2008 R2. th ebest way to make the downgrade
    to 2008 R2 Enterprise is to purchase the current Version 2012 R2 Standard in volume licensing than you can download diretly from VLSC the Enterprise Edition.
    with your downgrade you can still using the 2008 CALs.

    No, the linux_81501patch_ee.tgz patch is only for the
    Enterprise Edition. The standard Edition install without
    a glitch (except the "create database option in the Universal

  • Bug report, Beta 2.12 Standard Edition

    Bug report: redundant, confusing, and apparently erroneous calls to
    jdoPreClear
    and jdoPostLoad. Note in output the null name in the third iteration.
    Hi,
    A lot of information being sent. Sorry, but I think you'll find it
    helpful. I expected the exact same sequence of calls to jdoPreClear
    and jdoPostLoad on the 2nd and third iteration. In fact, since,
    retain values is true, and no changes are being made, I expected that
    jdoPreClear and jdoPostLoad would not be called at all on the 2nd and
    3rd iteration.
    David Ezzio
    Using 2.12 Beta, standard edition
    Business method uses one PM. Configured to datastore transaction,
    retainValues == true, non-TR == false, and non-TW == false.
    The business methods open a transaction and leave it open.
    The client calls commitTransaction() to close the open
    transaction.
    Two persistent objects, Widget and Box. Each implement
    InstanceCallbacks and put out a message in jdoPreClear ("will be
    made hollow") and in jdoPostLoad ("has been made persistent-clean").
    The Widget has a reference to its Box. The number in parenthesis
    is the sequence number obtained from the object ID.
    Business methods implementation:
    public ArrayList getWidgetsByName(String name)
    Transaction trans = pm.currentTransaction();
    if (!trans.isActive())
    trans.begin();
    Collection c = (Collection) widgetsByOneName.execute(name);
    ArrayList aList = new ArrayList(c);
    widgetsByOneName.close(c);
    return aList;
    public void commitTransaction()
    Transaction trans = pm.currentTransaction();

    list the widgets returned
    call commitTransaction()

    Abe,
    Actually, it doesn't make sense. The first iteration shows
    jdoPostLoad is called just prior to using the fields of Widget and Box.
    After the commit, the instances are not cleared. So far, so good.
    In the second iteration, we see that jdoPreClear is called, but
    jdoPostLoad is not called. Yet the values are there for use during the
    call to Widget.toString() and Box.toString() within the iteration. How
    did that happen?
    On the third iteration, now the value of name is null, but last we
    looked it was available in the second iteration. Other than that, I
    agree that the third iteration looks ok, since it is being cleared and
    loaded prior to use. But in the jdoPreClear, the values should be there
    since the values were used in the previous iteration and are not cleared
    at transaction commit due to retainValues == true.

    I believe the behavior you are seeing to be correct. Section 5.6.1 of
    the
    JDO spec outlines the behavior of persistent-nontransactional instancesused
    with data store transactions. As you can see, persistentnon-transactional
    instances are cleared when they enter a transaction; thus the calls to
    jdoPreClear. When the default fetch group is loaded again (like whenyou
    access the name of the widget) a call to jdoPostLoad is made.
    You are seeing the name of one instance as 'null' in the third iterationof
    your loop because the instance has been cleared in the second iteration,and
    the jdoPreClear method is not modified by the enhancer (see section10.3).
    Make sense?

  • How to import a report in CUIC 8.0 Standard Edition?

    Hi all,
    We are using CUIC 8.0 Standard Edition. Cisco says in the CUIC 8.0 Data Sheet that it is possible to import a report with CUIC 8.0 Standard Edition. However when I am working with the CUIC 8.0 Reporting App I find nothing in it's Web interface regarding importing reports.
    What is wrong? Does anybody know how to import a report with CUIC 8.0 Standard Edition?

    Oracle10g Standard Edition does not support use of using the Oracle Clustered File System (OCFS) for the physical database files. This is documented in Metalink Note ID : 358248.1.

  • Oracle LOCATOR - Standard Edition

    Hello,
    Can you please to tell me if there is any customer using Oracle Locator with Standard Edition?
    Regards,
    Andre

    There are indeed may success stories for Locator.
    Appendix B Oracle Locator of the manual deals with the differences .... here is the headline info
    Oracle Locator (also referred to as Locator) is a feature of Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition. Locator provides core features and services available in Oracle Spatial. It provides significant capabilities typically required to support Internet and wireless service-based applications and partner-based GIS solutions. Locator is not designed to be a solution for geographic information system (GIS) applications requiring complex spatial data management. If you need capabilities such as linear referencing, advanced spatial functions, or Spatial Web services, use Oracle Spatial instead of Locator.

  • From Express to Standard Edition how to upgrade SSMS

    Hello Everyone!
    I initially install SQL Server 2012 Express and recently upgraded to SQL Server 2012 Standard edition (using set up of Standard edition). Now I need to upgrade SSMS since the Express edition does not have the
    Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I tried different options in setup of Standard edition, but nothing helped, I am still missing Database Engine Tuning Advisor. Any suggestions?
    Regards,

    Thank you Shanky!
    Indeed, All I had to do was to choose "New SQL server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation" and then choose "Management tools - Complete"

  • Oracle RAC and Standard Edition 11g R2

    Hi,
    Our application is tested with Oracle 11g r2 enterprise edition on RAC (inhouse).
    A customer is asking whether he can use Oracle 11g r2 standard edition on RAC.
    I need a gut feel on this, as our application does not use any of the enterprise edition features. Also our application has been successfully tested with oracle 11g r2 standard edition on single instance.
    This is a big account and i need reliable answer.
    Thanks in advance,

    I haven't tried but I think it will be successful with mssql server standard edition also. The following link gives the key difference between standard and enterprise edition.

  • Using BizTalk Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition

    Hi All,
     I would like to know what are the Drawbacks of using BizTalk Server Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition.
    We are currently using Enterprise Edition.
    1) Are there any adverse performance constraints? Microsoft mentions to use SQL Server Enterprise Edition for "Optimal Performance" but does not expand on the topic.
    2) Any features missing?
    2) Is there a supported way to downgrade SQL Enterprise to Standard for an exisiting BTS Environment?
    Thanks!

    1) SQL Standard is limited to 4 CPU's and 64GB of memory while Enterprise is 8 CPU and 2TB or memory.
    2) The only BizTalk feature dependency on a SQL Enterprise feature is BAM Real-Time Aggrigations which requires Analysis Services RTA.
    3) Yes, but it's not a SQL downgrade really, you would move the BizTalk databases:
