Using display tag library

Hi,
I am new to JSP. I am using display-tags for pagination purpose. I have checkboxes for each row. When I select some rows and go to next page and come back to the old page, the status of selected rows is lost. Is there any way to store the status of selected rows when I navigate to other pages? I am using struts framework.
Another question, can I use javascript along with the display-tag? If I can, then how can I use it.
Is there any other tags for pagination, that may solve my problem?

Can you please tell me how did you pass it thru session?
What I mean is, when the user clicks on the next page, control is not transferred to our code (which would have allowed me to store selected items in session), instead the displaytag code is being called behind the scenes.

In this case you have to do external sorting insted of defalutsorting provided by dispaly Tag Library. find sample code for External Sorting.

To determine the request parameter name for column(like ID) sorting you can do :
String studenid = request.getParameter((new ParamEncoder("empTable")).encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_SORT))
fire a query in DAO Class using request parameter to get sorted list and map a resultset to table.

Problem using custom tag library in portlet's jsp

Hi,
I created a custom portlet (a JSR 168 portlet) and I'm using a tag library that I previously developed. Normally it works fine, but sometimes I get a ClassCastException. Once I redeploy the portlet everything works again. This is Oracle Portal 10.1.4.
Has anybody encountered similar problems?

Paging using page tag Library

My JSP is using page tag Library. When I click the Next page it returns next page. How can I change my JSP using page tag so that when the next/previous link is clicked, I should see the next/previous 10 records and so on.

Unfortunately my mind reading powers are not working so well right now.
Which page tag library are you using? There are several.
I would suggest that you look at the documentation for that library.
Unless you show us what the code you are currently using is, we can't suggest changes.
Oh, and please don't just copy paste your whole JSP here. A relevant excerpt of how you are using the tag library and how you create the links should be more than enough. And please use code tags.

I am not sure how far you got with this display tag. I had issues added the displaytag lib and the dependencies to my library. On the right-hand side of Netbeans, under Project, under the war directory of the application, I was able to add the libraries to my project. It stop some errors I have been having for so long.
Still, I am not able to display my data using display. How far this you did with this project? Have you resolve the problem so far. I know it's been a long time.

Pagination using pager tag library (logical groupings)

I'm currently trying to achieve pagination using the pager tag library provided by jsptags.com.
Instead of the usual breaking up the records into a fix number to be displayed per page, I need to display these records by grouping per page. E.g., my records are grouped by countries, so each group varies in size.
I would not be accessing the database directly from the JSP page, in fact, the JSP page will get a collection of the objects that I want to display per page.
Has anyone done anything like this before? Would appreciate very much if you could share with me how you implement this.

How to use a tag library in multiple web applications?

Morning all,
Environment: Tomcat 5 on Apache2 using Mod_JK connector on Windows XP
I have developed a custom tag library and tested it out and its working great.
Now, How do I use in my other web applications? Do I need to copy the JAR file to webapps\app1\WEB-INF\lib, webapps\app2\WEB-INF\lib etc directories?
The problem with this approach is, if I happen to change the tag library code, I will have to make sure that I remember to copy the new JAR file to the above mentioned directories. Ofcourse I can write a simple ant script that would do it for me, but I was wondering if there was an efficient and yet simple way of achieving the same.

I placed the jar file in the $CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib directory. But where should I place the taglib TLD file? And how should I reference it in web.xml?

Update: I just looked up the WL version and it's 8.1 sp3
          So, I guess, JSTL 1.1 (which includes jstl fn tags) is not supported by WL.... Someone correct me if I am wrong.

How to use Flex tag library in jsp

Simultaneous Client and Server Form Validation using Custom Tag Library

I am developing a custom tag library for validator tags
which are capable of doing client side validation (Javascript)
and server side (Java). My problem is with the development
of a regular expression based validator. Because of differences
in the way Javascript and Java handle regular expressions
i can not use the same regular expression for both types of
validation. Is there any way to convert a valid regular
expression from the java.util.regex format into the Javascript
format or vice versa? My major problems are with the (or, ||)
statements and the user of backslashes.

If you are speaking of RE syntax flavours, they are basically the same(namely perl5 flavour). Any expression that works in JS should work in j.u.regex too.
Though, their usage is quite different.
So, there is no need for convertion of expressions.
But porting the code may be not so trivial.

Problem exporting using Display tag

I have made a code to export table into excel and pdf format, when i run the application it succesfully launched the excel format but only displayed the column title, the values are empty, is it related to the fact that i should use export filter? Use of nav:navNodeAnchor tag library

Hi folks,
I am trying to display the breadcrumb feature of portal navigation using navigation tag library <nav:navNodeAnchor> in my custom header iview.
The code goes something like this.
                              <nav:iterateNavNodesInSelectedPath>
                              <nav:navNodeAnchor navigationMethod="byURL"
                                        anchorAttributes="class='textstyle2'"/>
                                                            <nav:ifHasMoreIterations>></nav:ifHasMoreIterations>
                              </nav:iterateNavNodesInSelectedPath>
But here, when I try to apply the css class as part of anchor attributes, it is not getting reflected in the output. Basically, it always displays the breadcrumbs in the standard colors defined.
Can somebody please help me on this.

As the expected behaviour is what is also documented (for example under http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/0029d0e7371aa2e10000000a422035/frameset.htm ), it <i>should</i> work. Check the HTML code which is generated on the created page; if the "textstyle2" string is also missing or at the wrong place, check if you are able to correct the entry maually (in the latter case), otherwise open an OSS message...

PS: @Prem - See the linke above, it's not really a CSS attribute but a generic possibility to inject anything (for example: CSS class references) into the generated html anchor. Anyhow, I also expect that the text gets rendered in the created HTML page but the resolution does not work, for example as the CSS itself is not referenced or something like that...

I am using was 3.5.2. Everything has been installed properly. I am using jdeveloper 3.2 for building the jsp application using custom tag library. But when I run the jsp file in browser, its gives dr. watson on java.exe. I am using websphere 3.5.2 application server.
Have any body got this type of prob. ...

Let me explain the problem again
I am using was(websphere) 3.5.2. Everything has been installed properly. I am using jdeveloper 3.2 for building the jsp application using custom tag library.
Application works fine in JDeveloper 3.2.
Application works fine even when deployed on JRun 3.0. ( we are evaluating various web servers).
How when deployed on WAS and I run the jsp file in browser, its gives dr. watson on java.exe. I am using websphere 3.5.2 application server.
WAS has typical settings as against JRun and Tomcat and may be I have not set the necessary paths.
Have any body got this type of prob. ...
pls respond asap.
