Using divx in "iTunes TV shows" instead of m4v...

Hello everyone,
I'm currently using EyeTV with a PCTV USB Stick, it works just great and I began to record a few TV shows. I usually convert them in to m4v and then to DivX. The only issue is that I can't and them to iTunes then... What should I do to add them to my library?

It's a matter of bitrate and profile. It is possible to get Divx or Xdiv level compression out of h.264, but when you are just 'recoding' a file it is hard to tweak the settings so it does what you want.
The key thing to understand is that if you recode pre-encoded video or audo you can NEVER add quality back in. So if the bitrate on the Divx equates to a h.264 bitrate of 1000...and you recode that Divx with 5000 you are going to have a HUGE jump in the file size without any quality gain (and very possible quality loss depending on other settings).
Oh, and what I mean by "Profile". h.264 has standard profiles that are defined by the standard (sorry, redundant sounding). You can see that when you look at the AppleTV or Quicktime h.264 list. There /are/ higher profiles, and selecting one of them /can/ work, but it's outside the specifications. If you used the profile that equates to "HD" to recode a Divx file then your asking for trouble and non-support.
I'm a Windows person myself, so I can't point you at quality Mac software to recode. However, the guys over at the Doom9 forums may have some insight.

If you update using iTunes, the full iOS is downloaded. If you update directly on your phone, this is called a "Delta" update, & only the changes to the iOS are downloaded. That's why you see the difference you see.

She needs to call the carrier on her old iPhone and have it removed from her account.
Once she does that you will not be able to use iMessage because that only works Apple to Apple.
You will need to use something else like Skype instead.

Why does the itunes store show the apps I have downloaded Free or the price instead of "downloaded"?

I have encountered this problem since Christmas. When I open the itunes and want to search the apps I have downloaded, and it keeps showing these apps free or with a price instead of downloaded. However, I have not encountered this problem in my iphone. This problem makes me confused that whether I have downloaded the app if I do not check the "Purchased".
Like the following one, even though I have downloaded the app, it shows the price to me instead of "downloaded".
p.s I have logined in to my acct.

and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that

This means that the phone you have was software unlocked to use on any carrier, or hacked. When you installed the update it restored the lock that originaly came with your phone. Not much you can do now. Apple will not support hacked phones. You will need to find out the carrier your phone is locked to and see if they offer official unlocking, or start googling to see if you can find a way to unlock 4.2.

hours after the first post i somehow got this to work. dont know how, but i do tried the dns clear cache, the clear host file, oh and i did the check automatically detech dns AND THEN se-check it again before i got this to work.

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete.

Why not simply update your old AppleID so you have only one iTunes account?

Hello to my always excellent community who always gives me the right answers. I switched my iPod Nano library from my PC to my new macbook air with the help of an excellent and courteous gentleman. The info on my Ipod and on iTunes still shows my Ipod Nano as a windows device, just want to confirm that is ok. Next issue, which is, as usual, is prob my wrongdoing. In trying to figure out the above; I stumbled upon the link below which taught me how to change/update my iPod Nano to show Version 1.0.2. Mac rather than the windows version 1.x.xPC it was still showing after I transferred my itunes library from my old pc to my new macbook air......I didn't dowlnload the iPod updater 2006-06-28 for Mac and once I did....whoa!!! I got my calendar and reminders on my nano now it's like a new toy all over again, just follow the steps in the below article, if I can do it, a 2 year old can

I have about 50GB or so of stuff I have purchased from Itunes and have not back it up yet. I looked into using DVD's and NAS devices, but I think I can also just get a new 80GB Ipod and use it as both a portable device and my main back up for my purchased stuff. Other files, like word and excel I back up using my .MAC I-disk, but the music and video files required much more space and bandwidth, so I have to back up localy.
If I have to do a restore, will I be able to restore off of an IPOD?

if you use the ipod in disk mode then, yes, you could use it to backup/restore files
but i'd never recommend using an ipod for this
great music player, but not something to rely on to keep your data safe
if you want a backup disk, get a dedicated external hard drive, it'll be way cheaper and a lot more reliable
