Using dual screens cannot play sound on either screen

I have an HP Envy TS m6 sleekbook.
I use 2 screens for work. If I want to play audio on either screen, it doesn't play anything. I'm not sure whats going on or what settings I need to tinker with or change.
Any help would be great

I understand that you are using two monitors, but not getting any audio on either one when connected to your HP Envy m6 Sleekbook. I will try my best to help you with this issue. Although you have two monitors the audio should be working from your Sleekbook. Has the audio been working and now has stopped.
Here is a document for No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) that explains how to use the Troubleshooting tool to check your audio.

I tried my best to solve this problem but cannot make it. Could anyone shed some light on it?
My Macbook Pro (13-2010) can play sound well with a headphone, everything is OK. But when I unplug the headphone, it cannot play sound. The keys on the keyboard cannot adjust the sound. A sound adjustment sigh will appear on the screen, with a stop sign at the bottem of the full volumn bar. The volumn bar does not change when I tried to change it by function keys.
It just happened several days ago and I do not know why.

hmm... I got it worked by plugging in the headphones and unplugging many times...

I think you are sailing in uncharted waters with those kind of modifications.
I am only guessing, but if you have not already done so, do a PRAM reset and then trash your FCP preferences.

New window opens in main monitor when using dual screen

I am using dual screens and my "main screen" is on the left. Ever since Firefox updated to 32.0.1 on Monday I've been having this issue. Before the update, I would have my main Firefox window opened on the left and, when I click on a link to open a new window, it would open on the right screen. Now, it will only open on the left screen, where the other window is. If I drag the original window to the right monitor and open a link, the new window will open on the right monitor. But once I drag the original window back to the left, new links will open in the left again.
Before if I had this problem, I would simply drag the new window to the right monitor, then back to the left and close it. Then click the link again and it would open in the right. Kind of a work around I guess. But since the update, even this will not work. Any suggestions? Or is this a new function of the updated version? Is there a way for me to go back to the previous version? Any help is appreciated!

I understand that links opening in new windows are opening in the active screen, not on the right, second monitor.

However I would also recommend suggesting an enhancement in input about dual monitor new window restriction.

I'd like to ask why we cannot play integrated sound on a web page when the sound file (.wav format) is located with https url link. From the same web page, the sound can be played well with Internet Explorer.

Unfortenately, I could not give you the page web & use case where the sound should be played (authentication required). Again, the sound is played well with Internet Explorer.
If I replace the link by http://..., the sound works well.

Maximising 2 programs using dual screen on mac mini.

I am using a mac mini with 2 screens and am trying to use it like my pc. I want to maximise a program on one screen and keep the second screen free to do the same. This works well on pc but not with my mini?
When I mazimise one program it creates a grey image on my second screen, making it useless for anything else.
Is it possible to maximise 2 programs (one on each screen) as is easily done on a pc?

It's hard to fully explain, but from what I'm seeing not all App's allow full screen mode without interfering with the dual screen setup and you might have to run most App's in maximum window size instead.

What's the best solution for audio out of sound files from a MacBook Air to both an amplifier and to a subwoofer amplifier? I'm using the MBA to play sound files for worship services at our church.

I have a MacBook Air (13", 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD) that I'll be using to play sound files (primarily organ and piano) for worship services at my church. We'll be using a QSC RMX2450 650 Watts/Channel amplifier with Community CPL-27 speakers and also a JBL SUB 250P powered subwoofer with its own amplifier. What's the best option for getting sound out from the Mac to both of these amplifiers?

if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...

Using Dual Screens & The Canon HV20 [encountering issues]

I'm running on an intel iMac, 2 gigs of memory, using FCP 5.1 and a 22 inch Vizio monitor. I have the Canon HV20 connected via firewire and at the moment I'm encountering the following issues.
1. FCP can't see the camera for import, it only sees the dual monitor
2. Sound is coming from the camera itself, but not through the actual monitor
I purchased the second monitor as I embark on a documentary, and I need some specific help so that everything will be up and running smoothl

Speaker cannot play sound

After upgraded my iphone 3GS to IOS 6.0.1, the speaker does not play sound when play itune, movie, games, notifications, etc. However, the ringer still work.
When I push the volume button on the left hand side, it cannot adjust the speaker volume and also does not say the earphone is inserted (originally I thought it is dirty inside the ear jet made it false detection). Does anyone have similar problem and know how to resolve?

My Pavillion dv6 6c01em cannot play sound

When i was searching for laptop, the specifications of this one were just satisfying, so i bought it. Then, it turns out to be a nightmare. I think I'll use my 6 years old computer again. I hate you HP. I will lead a campain against your products in this area. I will dedicate my life to that, i swear. Because i hate you so so much.
And about the problem: No player plays sound. No mp3, movie or any media file has soundon my laptop. I checked sound devices, all seem to be operational, everything seems to be fine. I tried applying a set of speakers. No use. I tried restarting, and other ridiculus stuff. No sound. Though, I have sound on Mozilla. Youtube videos work just fine. But i have to complain about soundcard integrated in this piece of **bleep**, sound is a bit groany. On the speakers too. My old computer has just fine sound. And it freezes a lot. Screw the 8gb RAM, when i can't use it without getting frustrated. I think you've done a baaad jobe here, a bad job. You don't even have it listed on your support site. Shame on you.
So, if it proves that i did something wrong and caused this malfunction myself, you will have my apologies. Otherwise, I will do everything to take your market in Serbia down.
Any solutions? I will NOT system restore. This never happened to me and will not accept a broken device.

I should have explained further. The game opens in a new window over to the upper left of my screen, leaving the original page underneath. I tried minimizing it so that I could get to my toolbar and did the View > Zoom > Reset. This has no effect. The lower portion of the game is still not showing. Using other browsers the window or frame of the game is much larger, therefore everything shows.

You can use the JMF (Java Media F-something) to play mp3 files, but I'm not sure if they allow you to play it directly from a byte[]. If the byte[] is in mp3 format, you would need to decompress the soundstream and then use javax.sound.* package to play it. I don't know if JMF allows you to just decompress the mp3, or if it's limited to just playing a file, better have a look there.

Cannot play sound in GDM

I tried to play a sound when the GDM is ready for login, but it doesn't play anything, not when pressing the Play button or when logging in. Otherwise the sound works fine after having logged in. Do I have to add something more to the audio group? As it is now, there are ony the normal users in the audio group.

I've been trying to figure this one out myself as well. It turns out that gdm's default sound player is sox. If you don't have that installed, install it. I think there's a way to get it to use aplay, but I haven't gotten that to work just yet.
Edit: Got it.
First, open up /etc/gdm/custom.conf as root and add the following line under [daemon]:
SoundProgram=/path/to/soundprogram
Then run as root:
gdmflexiserver --command="UPDATE_CONFIG daemon/SoundProgram"
If it works, it should just say "OK" and when you start GDM again, you'll hopefully have sound.
