Using DW CC, refusing to open files "unable to launch"

hi folks
i am trying out the trial of DW CC on my laptop and have a strange error -
when i open an ASP file - it launches DW and displays the file.
BUT when i try open another ASP file - from the 'file' panel inside DW, i get this error:
i used to have a trial version of CS5.5 on this laptop, which has been disabled for a long time due to it having expired. i uninstalled it before setting up the CC trial.
by the way - when i drag the file into DW from the file explorer - it opens perfectly. but again- from within DW - i get the above error.
any ideas?
thanks!

Looks like you may need to switch the file associations. Check to make sure it looks right in...
Edit  > Preferences > File Types/Editors
Also make sure the file type is associated with the right version of DW in your OS.
From your desktop, right click one of the files and choose Open With > Choose Default Program and make sure your current version of DW is selected.

  • Pages refuses to open files and export

I have become incredibly agitated as Pages will save a document then refuse to open it without any reason-does notr say it is corrupted, simply comes up with message '(doc name) cannot be opened. Also, when working on pages it has started to refuse to export docs into word and pdfs. Occassionally it will export one type and then refuse to do other, also without reason.
I activated IWork after the trial period ran out so I am confused as to how to reinstall it without it being on a disk, if I need to do so.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
When an application that was working correctly stops doing so the cause is likely corrupt preferences. There are a couple of ways to check this out. Log in as another user on your Mac & see if the behavior continues.
If you have a particular document you want to try to open in the other user, move it to the HD > Users > Shared folder. Unless permissions are set for other users to read & write you may get a message that a copy will be opened.
Quit Pages & then delete the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist from HD > Users > [your account] > Library > Preferences. Then restart Pages & see what happens. You will have to reset some Pages preferences.
If it were just one document, a trick I learned in the AppleWorks forum & has worked for some Pages users, is to save the document in iWork '05 format (use a different name) & then open it in Pages 2.
You can reinstall iWork from the restore DVD that came with your Mac. Just make sure you have your serial number written down to reenter it. Apple has written an article, Knowledge Base article 61802 on restoring the software than came with your Mac. Reinstalling, though, will not remove the preference files, so they will need to be moved manually as above. There is also one for Keynote in each user's Library as well as the com.apple.iWork06.plist in HD > Library > Preferences which contains the serial number. It is unlikely that this preference file is corrupt.

  • Using A JTree Model to Open Files

    Hello all,
How can I open the files that are displayed in the JTree?
I have a JTree with names of the files that are saved on my hardesk, but I can't use the JTree to open these files.
I have already implemented the TreeSelectionListener.

    This:
I have already written methods for openning and
saving files doesn't line up with your OP:
How can I open the files that are displayed in the JTree? It doesn't matter how you get the name, you open then the same way?
If you have written a tree listener then you know which file was selected.

  • Photoshop refuses to open files.

    Hi,
Im having strange problems with Photoshop the last few days, they came out of nowhere.
I was working on a few images for an newsletter for a dutch company and saved those files in 2 PSD's , both of them were around 500Kb in size, but i can't open them anymore since a few days.
Everytime i try to open them Photoshop gives me the error that i don't have enough RAM, after 2-3 tries photoshop crashes, giving me a mesage that "photoshop had to exit because bla bla" ( the typical crash error )
Now comes the strange thing, i can open them when using bridge, but that isn't the option for me as i don't like bridge.
Also, since 2 days Photoshop started crashing on a random basic.
I first checked my PS prefences because of the RAM error, but Photoshop was allowed to use the default 940 MB of RAM ( I have 2 GB physical and 4GB virutal ).
I tried increasing this to 1,7 GB but that didn't solved the problem.
As desperate as i was i simply removed PS together with all the remaining folders and registry files and reinstalled, succes ? No. The problem is still there.
    My system specs:
    Windows XP SP2 32Bit
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2,8Ghz
2048 MB RAM OCZ 667 Mhz Dual channel
    Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB
    Photoshop CS3 10.0.1
    Any solution ?
    Kind regards,
    Yorick.

You didn't say on the original post that you had deleted the Preferences. Are you sure you did? Simply removing Photoshop doesn't do it. You have to delete the file from Documents and Settings
A: Hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences file.
A2: You can also simply search your hard drive for a *.psp file and delete it. It will be called something along the lines of "Adobe Photoshop X Prefs.psp".
Under Win 2k/XP the preference file will be found at:
    %windir%\Documents and Settings\~username\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\[version #]\Adobe Photoshop [version #] Settings
[NOTE: You need to set Window's Explorer Options to "View Hidden Files and Folders" to display the Preference file]

  • DWCC File:Open tries to use EVERY OTHER APPLICATION to open file

    Hi
I'm on Dreamweaver CC and when I go to open a file it tried using my CS6, CS5.5, CS5 and finally CS4 versions of Dreamweaver to open the file (a .cfm file). I uninstalled ALL of those files and now, when in Dreamweaver CC I go to File: Open it automatically opens Apple Numbers, attempting to open the file.
Anyone know how to actually open a file with Dreamweaver and get Dreamweaver to actually open it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

If you don't want to add the Legacy Extension or get the paid extensions from DMXZone, and you're a CC subscriber, you can have both DWCS6 (with database functionality by default) and DWCC installed at the same time under the same subscription (no additional cost). They just don't run at the same time.
Here's how you add DWCS6 through the Creative Cloud...
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/download-previous-versions-creative-applications. html
Maybe if enough people request that the database features get added back, Adobe would return them to the program? It's happened with other features.

  • Opening files automaticaly at launch

    Hey
I've recently upgraded from Indesign CS6 to CC, and there is one option I can't seem to find in the new version...
On CS6, when I would launch the application, Indesign would automaticaly re-open the files that were open when I had quit Indesign.
I can't find this option in the CC version...
It was very useful, does anyone have a solution?
    Thankyou
    Take care!

    Hi Steve
As a matter of fact, yes my computer is running on Mac OS X, however it is not a recent version, 10.8.5 to be exact.
And unfortunately for me, the "Close Windows When Quitting an Application" option was already unchecked.
Although this was a good idea I had not thought of, I'm afraid doesn't solve my problem Not yet at least...
    Any other ideas?

  • Finder throwing error -1401 when attempting to open files on mounted volume

Alright, this is driving me nuts. At random, Finder will refuse to open files on a mounted volume on my server. It throws the error "The application can't be opened. -1401" and then "The operation can’t be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -1401)." back to back. It doesn't matter what the file type is, as far as I can tell (.jpg, .xlsx and .pdf are on there).
From that point on, I can navigate those volumes to the point that I have navigated them since the volume was mounted at start up, but can't go any deeper into the directories or open anything. Finder also won't eject the volume. I can't open files from within applications, either.
I have to reboot for it to work again.
However, if I jump into Parallels I can open anything on the server. Even Acrobat files, which open in the Mac environment and not within the virtual machine.
Does anyone have any insight to what might be causing this? I searched and can't find anything.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Restart your computer with the Shift key held down,
and then open the Startup Items folder inside the
System Folder. Throw away all of the aliases you find
in this folder and then empty the trash.
To quit AppleWorks or another application when it
won't respond, hold down the Option, Command, and Esc
keys, and then click the Force Quit button. You
should also use the Disk First Aid application in the
Applications (Mac OS 9):Utilities folder to verify
your hard disk, as something may have been damaged
when you shut the machine down using that method.

  • PS won't open files

PS CS3, Windows XP Pro, on a new Dell XPS
I've been running PS for months with no problems. Suddenly, and apparently for no reason, it's refusing to open files. Here are the things I've tried: I restored the OS back to a point that I know it was working, completely uninstalled PS, then CS3, and reinstalled the whole suite (after a huge hassle and many hours).
If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate the help.
    Thanks,

Are you using a network printer?
This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.
The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a generic printer driver your default printer. If you don't have one, download it here:

  • Can't see open files in Photoshop CS3

    Hello all!
I'm sure this is a simple fix, but then again...
I have just had my OS updated from XP to Windows 7 and I'm running Photoshop CS3. I was working along just fine - no problems - and then all of a sudden I can no longer see my open files. I know they're open, because I can see them in the navigator. I haven't done anything with my preferences, so why would it work and then suddenly not? Any help would sure be appreciated!

Hah...I spoke too fast. It worked for a couple of images and now it's refusing to open files again. Sheesh. Can't need another update already, could it? Any suggestions?

  • Developer: How can I let people open files with my program?

    Hello Everyone,
I just finished my program for the Mac, and decided to make it an application.
I used Platypus to make my program into an application. Unfortunately when I try to open a file with my program (control + click on file + open with -> other), my application is grayed out and I can't select it. I see it there along with the other applications but I can't select it like I can Mail or TextEdit.
I read somewhere I had to use XCode to let people open files with my program but I have never used XCode and I have no idea how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nick

You've posted in the wrong forum. This is the OS X Leopard Installation and Setup forum. You need to post your problem in the Developers forum. Also, since Platypus is not an Apple product, you should visit it's developers forum for assistance. The Apple Discussions is intended to assist users with problems and questions about Apple products only.
To use XCode Tools you need to install it from the Optional Installs folder on your OS X Installer Disc One. It comes with documentation. More assistance can be found at developer.apple.com.

  • Open file with Calendar

    Hello,
Configuration: Mac Mini - Mavericks - running a FileMaker server 13 on a local network.
Purpose: Automated archive a single file (.zip).
For this I create an App with Automator (archive a file and copy it in a folder).
This app is stand alone. When I clic 2 times on it it works well.
I try to run this App automatically everyday with Calendar.
For this I use (in the Alert dialog) open file and I select my Automator app.
On the server, when I close Calendar, and reopen it, my configuration alert (Open file) disappeared.
I try under Yosemite and it works fine.
I can update this server to Yosemite because there are still some incompatibilities with FMS.
Any idea to run automatically my automator app?
    Regards
    Ben

    zebradan,
Export and send them as a vCard.
    Hope this helps,

  • Number of Open Files in DB Server

    Hi everyone,
I need some advise from Unix and Oracle experts on a query that my customer raised.
There are 3 additional application servers added recently. Before the app servers are brought up, I increased the Oracle processes and sessions parameters.
Then, my customer's UNIX administrator asked this question which made me ponder if it's true :
"Changing some of the Oracle parameters can also effect the Unix kernel parameters.  For example if there are 256 data files and 4 application servers each with 99 work processes that means that SAP can have at least 101,376 open files on the DB server without the additional Oracle open files and those need for the OS etc. "
I just wonder, does SAP processes really perform read-write on the Oracle datafiles ? Isn't it that the SAP processes logon to Oracle server processes, and it is the Oracle instance that perform the IO on the datafiles ?
The DB server has 343 processes which corresponds to the actual number of total processes in all the app servers. And there are 202 datafiles.
Does that means only 343 processes will open datafiles ? Or will it be 202 files open only ? Or is it like what the Unix administrator said in the example ?
Can someone please enlighten me ?
    Thank you,
    Kent Peh

    Hi again
I give you some example with commands on a real system.
    SQL> select count(*) from dba_data_files;
      COUNT(*)
           262
    SQL> select count(*) from dba_temp_files;
      COUNT(*)
             8
    SQL> show parameter processes
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    processes                            integer     620
So we have a system with 270 data/tempfiles and a maxium of 620 processes, so the theoretical maximum of open files can be over 270x620. Lets check how many processes we really have at the moment:
    orasid> ps -ef | grep ora | wc -l
    330
This includes, all shadow and background processes one shell (mine) and even my ps command )
But we do have slightly above 300 oracle processes here. So we might have roughly 270x300 = 81000 files open at the moment. Lets see, i use lsof to list the open files of the oracle command and redirect the output to a file, just because there is really a lot of files open on this system:
    orasid> lsof -c oracle > /tmp/lsof.out
This includes directory entries, looks like there is some shared memory stuff, even tcp connections as well (we forgot about these until now). I think all these need file handles on unix as well, so be it. So in our example we have 46557 files open:
    orasid> wc -l lsof.out
    46557 lsof.out
You can dig further in the lsof.out, for example how many times is one single data file open:
    orasid> grep /oracle/SID/sapdata2/stabd_4/stabd.data4 lsof.out | wc -l
    209
I hope i did not do too many mistakes here, have fun!
    Best regards, Michael
BTW: there is a maximum of 131072 (= 0x20000) open files on this system (HP-UX IA64)
    orasid> /usr/sbin/kctune -v nfile
    Tunable             nfile
Description         Maximum number of file descriptors (system-wide)
    Module              fs
    Current Value       0x20000

  • Set return key to open files/folders?

My apologies if I posted this in the wrong area...
Is there a way to set the Return key to open files or folders? So, if I am in finder, I want to be able to navigate with my arrow keys (which I can do), but when I find the file I want, I'd like to just hit return and have the file open. RIght now, when I hit return, it allows me rename the file.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks everyone! Have a wonderful week!!!

    You might try ReturnOpen.
Other than that, the workaround is to use the Mac shortcut for opening files, which is Command-down arrow. (Command-up arrow goes up a level, like Backspace on Windows).
