Using DW CC... Win 7 : Every time I start DW,  I get  message telling me to 'switch to" or retry.

Its more of an annoyance than a problem. I'm using Windows 7 Professional on an Intel i7 950 with 16 Gbytes of RAM and a Gforce graphics card with 3072 MBytes of RAM. I'm using the full suite of CC apps.
Every time I start DW I get this error message to "switch to" or retry before it will start. It's got something to do with a browser (I've got 3) but only Chrome has any Adobe related add ons. I recall some time many years ago I got the same message starting Corel Draw or Photo Paint. Come to think of it, that was the reason I moved to Adobe in the first place.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well... Yes and no to fixing it.
I followed that link's instruction — altered for Dreamweaver and yes, it lit up cleanly as administrator but before ever it reached 'booted' stage it warned me I had 00 days of trial left and needed I to register it. OK I'm a paid up renter. I fed it my username and it finished booting only to tell me again, I had 00 days of trial left and needed to register it. I knew where this was leading before ever I entered my email and password for the second time but let it happen anyway.
Then I decided I'd continue with the instructions, log out of DW and re-start it normally. Opps! This application has already been registered on two other machines. CC Manager at it again. Another hour wasted fixing CC dramas. I rebooted the PC without any external drives connected, just the 4 internal drives. OK... Lets start DW and see what happens. I'll tell you firstly that I installed DW on this machine 6 months ago and promptly removed it. Why? Because I get quicker results using notepad++ and I needed to get a job done in a hurry. No time to try and get my head around Dreamweaver in the process.
Honestly speaking I didn't 'cancel' that installation. I didn't realize this antique process still existed.  Anyway... I reinstalled it last month with some time now to 'get my head around it'. CC doesn't speak my language and hasn't yet learned that when you tell it to remove a program, it needs to remove the registration of it too! So I got the 00 days trial left garbage again. Only difference this time it told me both the original install and second install (on the same machine) were still registered but luckily (I won't say for who) There was an option to cancel all other installations. and yes... It loaded cleanly and faster than I can recall it ever had previously. Will it keep doing this? Is this mess going to happen ever few months?
I'm prepared to believe CC's shocking uninstall is to blame. At the best of times it is a messy process, leaving registry entries and files scattered all over my drives. NOT very nice for such a complex program manager. I used to be able to keep it under control with Revo but now CC manager wants to do it all I think it needs a bib or diaper to stop messing up my computer. If this happens again now that I've killed (renamed actually) the folders in the instructions to fix lightroom doing the same thing... I'll lodge a critical error ticket.
Incidentally... How come searching for this solution didn't show up the answer you pointed me to? Is the forum search bot flaky too?

  • Every time I start up, I get a flag that tells me my start up disk is full. How do I empty this?

Both my start up disk and my hard drive apparently are full. My main concern is that I can no longer download anything because it says my drive is full and there is not enough room left. How can I get rid of the "Stuff" that is plugging up my computer?

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

How do I stop this from happening? I always check the box - remember password in my keychain- but nothing.
    thanks

Go To Spotlight (of Finder find) type in Keychain. Open the application. Click on Passwords. Double click on each Name. Click on Access Control. There is a small box that says Ask for Keychain Password. Do this for each name and uncheck the box if it is checked.
You should then quit Mail and Safari and reopen them.
    Hope this helps.

  • Firefox Sync alerts "Incorrect password or username" every time it starts.

Every time I start Firefox, I get the following error message from Sync:
"Sync encountered an error while connecting:Incorrect account name or password. Please try again. [Preferences]"
In my about:log-sync, these lines appear:
<pre>Sync.Service DEBUG Exception: Login failed: error.login.reason.account No traceback available
Sync.Service DEBUG Not syncing: login returned false.</pre>

Turns out that my Sync password was not correctly saved in Firefox.
When I looked at my password saved in my Firefox profile (Options -> Security -> Saved passwords -> Show passwords) , some characters were different than the one I entered when I set up my account. For instance, there was an "©" instead of a "(".
I solved by it changing my password and using only "a-z" "A-Z" "0-9" characters.

  • Error updating mutation history every time I start LabVIEW

I have a slightly annoying problem that has been re-occuring the past month or so. Every time I start LabVIEW I get the following error messages:
Error occured updating the mutation history for Progam (2).lvclass. All values of this class in controls and constants will be reset to the default value
The same error appears for Page (2).lvclass, Chart (2).lvclass, Worksheet (2).lvclass and Workbook (2).lvclass.
It slows down my LabVIEW startup time by at least 3-4 minutes every time, which is quite annoying. I imagine the problem is occuring when it populates my existing projects, and in one of these projects contains the problem lvclass files. But I did a search of my ProgramFiles\NationalIntruments folder and my work directory and didn't find any files of those names. Just wondering if any one had any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Okay, seems like I found the problem. Yes, to answer your question, most of my LabVIEW programming is OO, using GOOP mainly.
I also imported hundreds of LabVIEW libraries where these lvclass files were, they were in ImportedLib\DataLogger\LabVIEW widgets\ActiveX
It's not code I've written, but I don't see why including these files was necessary in the repo, oh well. To get rid of the error I just removed those files and the mutation error stopped appearing. What's still a little confusing is why these files were being accessed on LabVIEW startup. I can imagine it necessary to load these files when the project is opened, but seems weird when it's just populating the existing projects list.
Oh well, thanks for looking into it Andy, files were not in the NI folder which explains why I didn't find them on my first attempt.
