Using Echosign or Adobe Reader to get signatures

Hello. I would like some feedback on which way to get a document signed in multiple places by multiple parties. I have a secure document that is approximetly 16 pages long that requires signatures by three or more parties. I created an account with EchoSign, because I've read that it's a secure way to transport the document back and forth between the parties who need to sign. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience using either one of these methods and if you have any advice on which method I should go with. I should add that I've created the document in Adobe Acrobat Pro and I plan to add the electronic document to our web site for the purposes of employee onboarding.
Thank you in advance.
Amanda

The first question is not where the form should be hosted, but what you mean by "digitally signed".
A self-signed ID created in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader is meaningless in terms of proving identity, as anyone can make up any ID - it doesn't even have to have a valid email address. There's no traceability so the signature is not legally admissible, so it's no better than getting them to tick a box or click an 'OK' button.
Verifiable and legally-approved digital IDs are available from commercial vendors, but they cost a fair amount of money and require the application to submit identity documents. Very few people will have one, and nobody will buy one for the fun of it.
EchoSign has no real way to tell who is signing the form, other than the fact the link went to a known email address - the digital certificate on the returned file is actually Adobe's own ID, and it simply proves that someone followed a particular link and drew in their signature on a stated date and time. Because the identity of that person is only traced through their email address, EchoSign will never give you a generic URL to link to the form - in fact you never get to see the encrypted URL sent to your recipients either. You have to enter the email address of each recipient by hand on the EchoSign website, the form can't be hosted on your own server.

  • How can I find the location of the signature used in the Adobe Reader signature feature?

How can I find the location of the signature used in the Adobe Reader signature feature? I've been using the signature feature for a while now and it works great and I'd like to use it on another computer. However, I forgot where I stored the signature. Adobe finds it with no problems (the signature pops up when I click "Place Signature"), but I have no idea where it is.

    Hello,
    It's here - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security\

  • I have a MAC and when I try to use Adobe Reader, I get a pop up telling me I need to accept the end user agreement. It instructs me to go the Abobe Reader Installer download , double click and accept the agreement, but there is no agreement.  What should

I have a MAC and when I try to use Adobe Reader, I get a pop up telling me to lauch ADobe Reader and accept the end user license agreement, but when I do that, there is no agreement to acknowledge.   What should I do?

I have the same problem as Pam101. I am on OS X 10.9 and Safari 7 (actually on 2 iMacs). The one iMac is fine but the other with the same versions and settings Adobe Reader will not work. What happens is the Adobe Reader icon appears on the dock, bounces once and that's it. When trying to open a .pdf file from a website a new tab is opened on Safari, the background is black and there is a pop up message (black test on a white background) that reads: "Adobe PDF Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement." This is all very well but if Adobe Reader will not launch how on earth is it possible to accept the End User License Agreement terms? Very, very annoying, especially since it all works just fine if I launch a .pdf file from a website using Chrome. What is going on here and who do I talk to in order to fix this problem - Apple or Adobe?

  • I am unable to print PDF's using either Adobe Reader or Safari. In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my Cannon printer that says, "/usr.libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed". In Safari, I can only print the first page of a PDF.

To try to resolve this problem, I have done the following actions.
    1 - I have run Disk Warrior.
    2 - I have repaired permissions.
3 - I have deleted all plist that are either Cannon or Adobe.
4 - I have downloaded and installed the lastest versions of Adobe Reader and the Cannon printer drivers.
I am still unable to print PDF's.
In Safari, I can print only the first page. In a multipage PDF, Safari only seems to recognize the first page.
In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my printer: "/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed".
Any help would be greatly appreicated!

    Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and copy the line below into the text box that opens:
    ~/Library
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
    Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    Relaunch Safari and test.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list. Post the messages from the time of the last printing attempt.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

If you haved tried all the fixes and suggestions, there is not much to add. Just in case: did you really try using this tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html to first eliminate all traces of Reader, and then use the full offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/?

As has been mentioned Adobe Reader cannot export PDF page content. Nor can it create PDF or manipulate PDF page content.
What you can do is use one of Adobe's online subscription services. Two provide for PDF  to Word export.
    There's ExportPDF and PDF Pack.

  • Upon a failed install of Adobe Reader I get an error "Actionlist Not Found"

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I have already uninstalled Adobe Reader and Flash and rebooted many times in the process. I can download everything just fine. I can start the installation process, but after it "initializes" the instalation freezes at 0% for a moment then I get an error. The window is "Adobe Has Encountered Problems" and in the window it says "Actionlist Not Found." I have no idea what this means or what I can do to fix it. I also get the same error when I try to install Flash Player. Please note that I have tried directly installing by choosing my operating system and whatnot from Adobe.com. What can I do to fix this?

You need to download and run the offline installers.

  • Why can't I use the free Adobe reader?

I just submitted a question and all this pops up.  I couldn't afford the full subscription.  But when the trial period ended, it won't let me open pdf documents. So I downloaded the free adobe reader.  It still doesn't let me open pdf files.  I have become less and less impressed with Adobe.  It has be a real pain to work with.  I'm glad I CAN'T afford it because I think it would be very aggravating to work with just from my experience with the trial subscription.  Is there a way for me to use the free adobe reader?

What is your operating system?  What is your Reader version?  What exactly means "doesn't let me"?
You had a trial of what - Acrobat?  Did you uninstall it after the trial ended?

  • When I attempt to install Adobe Reader, I get the message, "This patch package could not be opened."

Any idea of what I need to do?

Thanks for your interest in my problem.  My operating system is Windows
XP.    I had an older version of Adobe Reader installed, but recently, my
computer became unable to view pdf files.  So I decided to try to update
my version of Adobe Reader.  Somewhere in the process, it was suggested
that I delete previous versions of Adobe Reader prior to installing the
new version, so that's what I did.  Now when I try to download and
install the version 9 of Adobe Reader, I get the message that , "The
patch package could not be opened."
