Using Envision G22LWk Widescreen Monitor with J105 Series 8258-HAU

My system is an AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+, 512MB, 160GB 7200RPM S-ATA HDD, no diskette drive, PCI/AGP Tower (4x4), VIA S3 Graphics UniChrome Pro IGP, Multi-Burner Plus 16x, VIA 10/100 Ethernet, Windows XP Professional.
Although I have installed the following upgrades:

my computer still will not recognize the widescreen format, so the graphics are now horrible.
VIA graphics says the problem lies with the Lenovo BIOS, but I've already installed the Lenovo BIOS update.
Please help!

Which iMac and which Mac Mini...?
Only the late 27" iMac's support input for use as a display with another system that has MiniDisplay Port output.
You might be able to use > ScreenRecycler, however I'm not sure how your going to set it up without a display for the Mac Mini.

  • How to use tv as a monitor with HDMI adapter

with the HDMI adapter to thunderbolt plug the tv will display what is on my laptop monitor but only if I drag the screen to like 5 times its normal size. is there a way to just make it automaticly fit the tv everytime I want to use it as my monitor. I would like to be able to look at my laptop screen and also look at my tv and see the same image.  If I don't enlarge the screen the only image that is visible on the tv is the desktop image backgound.

    Hi s,
I'm not on Lion, so it could be different, but on SL, there are two choices, Mirror or Extended Desktop. Open System Preferences > Displays and see which one works better for you. You can also set the display pref so it shows in the menu bar.
Mirror means same as what you see on your built in display, including resolution.
Extended desktop allows you to use higher resolution on the TV, so I'd think that's what you'd want.

  • 16:9 showing on widescreen monitor with bars

Hi - I shot on a Z1 in 16:9, I imported as DV PAL anamorphic. It shows fine in the viewer and is full screen on a widescreen monitor. But when I edit it onto a 16:9 sequence it appears with black bars top and bottom in the canvas and on the monitor. Is it supposed to?
I can go into the Motion tab and change the aspect ratio to 0 to make the image full screen, but shouldn't it do this automatically?
    Appreciate your help.

Were your clips already on the timeline when you changed your sequence settings to 16x9?

  • Using a MV220 22" monitor with a MacBook - resolution too low?

I just got a 22" Hyvision/Megavision MV220 external monitor for use with my MacBook. I've got the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI connector going into a DVI cable into the monitor.
The monitor says it can do 1680x1050, but when I try to use it, the Displays system preference pane is only showing me a maximum of 1280x960.
I've looked at the Displays pane as well as the options on the monitor, and don't see any way to enable the higher resolution. Any thoughts?

A friend ran into this yesterday - he was all paniced over it, since I'd assured him the Dell 22" would be great with MacBook.
The thing he was missing was to unselect 'mirror displays' (in displays preferences, under arrangement). Then you can set each display to its own native resolution. When mirrored, you're limited to the resolution of the lesser of the two displays.

  • Using a HDMI Only Monitor with 2011 Mac Mini i5 2.3

Hi, Just Wondering if anyone has experience with this...
I have searched High and low and cannot work out if the issues with this are fixed or still happening to people.
I am looking a connecting the 2011 Mac Mini with HDMI port directly to HDMI port of a third party monitor but the ones Iam interested in (and are in my price range!)  seem to have only HDMI and sometimes VGA also. If I connect the cable directly from the mac to the monitor are there issues with resolutions, wake from sleep, colours being bad/off etc? Is it recommended to only use DVI from the 2011 Mac Mini?
Just need to check this before buying a new monitor and I cant seem to find the answers anywhere so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    Steve

Yes, you can connect an HDMI monitor directly up to a 2011 using an HDMI cable.

  • Using TV as a Monitor with HDMI - windows no longer centered when I switch over!

Hello, I ran into a very annoying problem this weekend. For a long time, I've just been using a TV as my computer monitor when I want to watch Hulu, Netflix, etc. I just unplug the monitor from my Mac Mini and plug in the HDMI cord I have hooked up to the TV. It's worked very well for a long time (years) but this weekend when I unpluged the regular monitor and plug in the TV HDMI cord, the windows are no longer centered on the TV! The movie or browser window would be in one of the corners and when I unplugged the TV and replugged in the regular monitor, the window would be in a completely different spot! I'm not sure why it started to do this or how I can get it to behave properly again. I've tried playing with the overscan settings but nothing. Any ideas?

You did reboot the Mac, right
    Try another cable?

  • Is it possible to use my iMac G5 Monitor with my Intel Mac Mini

    Hello,
I have an iMac G5, and just received a new Mac Mini for my birthday. I don't have any display yet for the Mac Mini, so I would like to know if it's possible to link my Mac Mini to my iMac G5 so I can run the Mac Mini in my iMac Monitor ?
If there's a way to do it, can it be done even when I'm running Windows (PC) on my Mac Mini ?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Generally, no, that is not something that would work well. There is no video input on your iMac. So, you would have to use an adapter.
You can read a little bit about this here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3249369&#3249369
That discussion is regarding a XBox. But, the principle and options would be the same.
The Hybrid adapter that is discussed there would be the best option for you in terms of hardware solutions. But, you would need the appropriate cables to connect from the Mac Mini to the Elgato Hybrid and then to your PowerBook (some of which may come with the adapter).
As for a network and software solution, take a look at this discussion for a recommendation and description of a possible method:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3053364&#3053364
    I hope this helps.

  • Can I use a flat screen monitor with my Power Mac G$?

Can I connect my Power Mac G4 (model M5183) to a modern flat screen monitor? I already tried it with a small flat screen TV which works fine with my MacBook Pro but couldn't make it work with the G4. I only need the G4 for a SCSI slide scanner that I use occasionally, and would love to get rid of the mostrosity of a monitor that came with the G4. I've updated the processor in the G4 to 1 GHz and run it with OS 10.5.8.

Hi Ron, what ports are on the G4's Video card? VGA, DVI, or AGP?
    Which Video card?
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.
Then click on More Info>Hardware>Graphics/Displays and report like this...
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800GT:
      Chipset Model:          GeForce 7800GT
      Type:          Display
      Bus:          PCI
      Slot:          SLOT-1

What Monitor & Ports does it have? What is the native rez of the monitor?

  • Use iPad as Preview Monitor with DSLR (nikon)...possible?

    Hi all
I have the idea to purchase the iPad but a still have a question...is it possible to us it as preview monitor for my dslr (nikon d300) using a cable input?
    thx a lot
    cheers

The closest thing I've seen to this is this app:
    http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/dslr-camera-remote/
It supports only some models of camera, and requires the the camera be tethered to a laptop, to which you then connect wirelessly from the iPad. I don't know if that would be useful to you, but it might be worth a look.
And while not a preview app, ShutterSnitch might be useful in your workflow.
As wireless camera systems become more common and functional, we may eventually see remote-control apps that can connect directly to the camera, not requiring an intervening laptop. This is already partially possible for photographers with a Leaf or a Mamiya digital back.
    Regards.

  • Transcoding Problems & Use Of An External Monitor with FCE HD

My department is slowly making the change over to HDV and we have a few immediate concerns regarding FCE HD.
When printing to video, its takes about 4-5 minutes to Transcode per 1 minute of footage.
Is there any way to shorten or eliminate this time period? With our students making plenty of 10 minute videos, this Transcoding Time could clog up hours and hours of time in our editing rooms.
Also, I am told that the latest version of FCE is not yet compatible with the use of external monitors for showing footage off of a FCE timeline. I hear there are certain expensive converter boxes you can purchase to remedy this problem.
Is there any other solution to this???
    Thanks,
    Marc Griffin

    Marc,
Have you rendered all the footage first, and mixed down the audio? (The commands are Sequence>RenderAll>Both and Sequence>RenderOnly>Mixdown). You should do both before you export any video. Select all clips in your timeline and run both commands.
FCE can show your video (what you called timeline) via FireWire out. You would need a Firewire->analog converter to connect your external monitor. The Canopus ADVC110 is a nice little unit that will do an excellent job, currently about $240USD. Alternatively, many people use their miniDV camcorders as a passthrough device to do the same conversion so they can watch their video on a real video monitor while editing.

  • Has anyone used a touch screen monitor with scxi.I am having video lock ups while using LV and MAX

I have a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 daq card (dev1) connected to a scxi-1000 chassis address 0 ID 1, with a scxi-1102,1163,1163,1162 slots 1,2,3,4 respectively.Cable is connected to daq card to 1102 card .Micro touch screen is used on com2. Have tried other serial ports 1,5. Touch screen works fine with windows until LabView and max is installed .Video lockups,Max failures occur.MAX seems to confict with touch screen.

Max is the NI interface for all the drivers. It may be a specific driver that is causing problems, perhaps NI-VISA. I would try installing things one piece at a time. Might want to start by uninstalling everything so that you start with a clean system. First install LabVIEW with no drivers at all. See if the Micro touch screen still works. Then try installing NI-DAQ. Install each of the drivers you need one at a time. If you don't need something, leave it out.

  • Can I use a touch screen monitor with my macbook pro?

I am doing a lot of photo organization and thought it would be easier if I had a touch screen monitor attached to my macbook pro.  Has anyone tried this and if so, what brand did you use.
    Thanks
    Bob

All a touchscreen is going to do is replace your mouse or trackpad, you can't use two hands at once to gain any speed advantage organizing photo's.
Also it would have to be a pretty big touch screen, place your two hands over a 17" screen and most of the screen is blocked.
If you need something like that, talk to Microsoft, they have a "Big @ss table" that does that.
Gives me a backache just looking at those people
