Using Ethernet only and not USB - why?

Hi,
I'm fairly new so please help if you can. Have ADSL cable modem and have had problems connecting to internet. Phoned my ISP helpline and they said to take out the USB lead from the modem which I have done and its all now working. Basic question but what is difference between ethernet and usb? If now only using ethernet will my speed or anything else be affected.

Some Mac functions are reluctant to work well with USB.
The short answer to your question what is difference between ethernet and usb: These are two different methods for sending data from one device to another.
USB 1 is used for example, to connect the mac keyboard to the computer. It works fine, because high speeds are not needed. USB 2 claims much higher speeds, but they are seldom achieved in real life. Strictly speaking, USB is not a substitute for ethernet, since it is only used for very short connections, whereas ethernet can work over distances of many kilometres.
Ethernet comes in flavours as well; you will see terms like 10 B/T, 100 B/T etc. These describe the density of the data that can be carried. Since ethernet has been around since the very early days of computers, its use for communication is pretty much trouble free, and just about every ISP uses it and depends on it. To my knowledge, there no computer networks, where large amounts of data are moved around, that use anything but ethernet.
All of the above is an attempt to provide a simple answer! The crux is that you are better off using ethernet than USB for the connection between the Mac and the modem. I trust that will allay any concerns you have.

Movment type " 201 maintained for the Classic scenario only.
It is necessary to maintain the attribute if the default material group for a given user (or) sit is set to a backend logical system. The EBP system knows that if the user is set for backend procurement ,that there might be a possibility for a reservation to be generated therefore it checks to see that a value for this attribute is maintained. The BWA value should be defined for the as 201 preceeded by the logical system and a backslash.
101 should not be used. This isfor the Good receipt.
In the extended classic scenario when you do the confirmations in SRM the movement type 101 will be created in the
backend system (R/3 or ECC6.0)

Can I use OC4J only and not the full Oracle AppServer?

When I install Oracle SoaSuite then the full Oracle Application Server including the little brother OC4J
is installed. Can I somehow (at least theoretically) only install/use the OC4J server and omit the full Oracle ApplicationServer?

SOA Suite is certified only against the Oracle Application Server. You need to have/run on this, or on WebLogic.

Firstly, try a factory reset. This can often iron out problems like this.
Also, what generation is your TC? What version of AirPort Utility are you using?

I have an Airport Extreme, 5th generation, that is hooked to the internet and is the source of my home network. I am replacing an old AXs 801.11g with an 801.11n unit. The need to run a printer on the USB port is because it is an old HP 7400 all in one with a wireless g card. I want to set the network up for all wireless N and 5 Ghz for hopefully faster network speed. It is my understanding that if the network is set that way, the wireless g printer will not be recognized on the network. Since I currently am running a ethernet only Xerox Laser on the ethernet port, I would need to hook the HP using USB inorder to keep it on the network for scanning and such. Thanks to you and your information, I think I have the bases covered. If there is a best way to set up the AXs, or if I am missing something more, I thank you in advance and look forward to your assistance.

It is better to have the TC as part of the main network in bridge. You do not need to run wireless.
If you want to use the TC plugged in by ethernet and still use wireless for internet, that is possible but the setup is rather more complicated.. the computer must not get confused about which device to use as a gateway or dns server.

I need to add.. a USB drive would be cheaper, faster and more reliable. It is really poor use of a TC.

Alv output to Excel with numeric fields as numeric fields only and not char

When we download the alv output to excel format in the locat file using the toolbar button provided in the ALV, the numeric fields get converted to character format. Is there any other way or settings in ALV so that the numeric fields will be get saved as numeric fields only and not character?

The base mini has 4GB and a 5400 RPM hard drive. It is slow to start up and slow to launch large application such as Word (and I'd assume Adobe Audition) due to the slow drive. I've not used a new 4GB model, just the 8GB model, and the 8GB model (except for the slow drive) handles everything I've thrown at it, including running Photoshop, Word, Safari, and Mail at the same time but there is sometimes a delay switching between programs as the swapfile is updated. Overall I was not happy with the 5400 RPM drive (perhaps because I have MBA and iMac with Fusion drive) so I eventually upgraded it with an SSD. Now the mini is truly a warrior.

and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that
"my airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet!"
then after seconds it will goes back to the first message that
"airport has the self assigned IP address etc....."
i don't know whats going on now!

Podcasts showing up on iPhone only and not iPod anymore.

Have been keeping all my music and podcasts on an iPod and not on my iPhone5s. With the latest IOS update a Podcast icon showed up on my iPhone. Now my subscribed poscasts show up on my iPhone only and not in iTunes nor my iPod. How do I convert back to my old setup? All previous podcasts are still on the iPod, just the latest downloads since the update are on the iPhone.

To help troubleshoot this issue where you are not receiving all iMessages on your iPhone please follow the steps outlined below.
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.

You got it.
Notes - if notes are created in icloud notes (you may have multiple notes accounts) - icloud notes and only icloud are synced over all your devices and icloud server, so if you want to see those on the server you can go and manage (edit) on www.icloud.com.
Since notes synchronize by using same IMAP email server - turning them "ON" will prompt you to create mail address.
To add to that you do not have 10.8 that has it's own notes app, so your notes go to Notes folder in your icloud/me/mac mail and synched by your mail server.

Click on the hard drive on the desktop, then File > Get Info. What does it say about permissions? If this is just a data drive you may want to consider "ignore ownership on this volume".
Otherwise I can only say I have not been reading good things about Seagate drives recently. I have some of their rock-solid ones from about 10 years ago (still running well), but now...?

Just drop it into the message. It goes as an attachment. Or select the image, CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Compress .... from the context menu. Then attach the archive.
