Using external LG monitor with 180 degrees rotated display
Hey everyone,
I just got a 19" widescreen LG monitor and I have it mounted upside down, so I rotated the display 180 degrees. However, when I move my mouse over links, the arrow jumps a little and is incredibly aggrivating. Has anyone seen this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? It happens in Safari too and I already tried re-calibrating my monitor and restarting. Thanks.
Me too, but my LG monitor just stopped working after I installed the recent "Thunderbolt Firmware Update".
Literally the monitor was working yesterday. This morning I installed the update and now it's broken. Great update.
Anyone have a fix?

External LCD monitors with DVI PowerBook: Banding Issues
I have a DVI PB and would like to attach an external LCD monitor. I've looked at both Samsung 20 inch and ViewSonic 19 inch versions but whenever I attach them, I get "banding" around the edges of the external monitor. Tonight, I went to CompUSA to look at the Samsung 204B 20 inch. Taking my PB with me, I hooked up and set the resolution to 1600 x 1200 and the Samsung had huge, fat black banding all around the monitor. If you don't know - banding looks like a large, black border going around the screen. The sales guy pushed some auto-set buttons (which is said always work to remove the banding) but it didn't fix the issue. Any suggestions? Is there some secret that I'm not aware of on how to attach and use an external LCD monitor with the PB? One note: I did set the resolution down to 1280 x 1024, which worked fine to remove the banding but it monitor looked horrible. Not the best resolution for a large monitor.
Thanks,
B. Rose
TiBook 800 & iBook SE Mac OS X (10.4.6)Hi, Bill. I can't speak to whatever happened with the Viewsonic monitor, since you didn't tell us about that, but it sounds as though the Samsung was in display mirroring mode rather than extended-desktop mode. The F7 key on your Powerbook's keyboard toggles an external monitor between the two modes. In mirror mode, the external monitor displays exactly the same thing as the built-in display. In extended-desktop mode, it functions as a separate portion of your desktop, and you can drag things (windows, icons) from one monitor onto the other. If you're going to use both displays, extended-desktop mode is probably what you'll want: why keep two copies of the same thing in front of you?
In mirrored mode, the fact that your Powerbook's display has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 854 means that only 1280 x 854 pixels of the external monitor can be used — leaving wide black borders of untapped pixels around the copy of your PB's display that's centered on the external monitor. In extended-desktop mode, the external display's native resolution of 1600 x 1200 can all be used, provided that your 32MB of VRAM is sufficient to drive the total of (1280 x 854) + (1600 x 1200) = 3,013,120 pixels, at the bit depth you've selected. (You might have to use the extended-desktop mode in Thousands of colors, rather than Millions.)
Another issue that comes into play with display mirroring is that the 4:3 aspect ratio of the 1600 x 1200 Samsung is different from the 3:2 aspect ratio of the Powerbook's display. If you set the Samsung's resolution to 1280 x 1024 to match the pixel width of the PB display, the top and bottom of the Samsung will be black bands, because the PB isn't manufacturing any pixels to fill those bands. And it will be blurry, because the Samsung has to interpolate to make 1600 pixels look (sort of) like 1280 pixels. Unlike a CRT display, the actual number of pixels in an LCD is fixed. When you change resolution settings on an LCD from its native (maximum) resolution to anything less, the image is always blurred. Only the native resolution can be really sharp. -
I am having issues with 360 degree rotation, I have an iPhone 5 and ios 6.0.2. I have read alot about this issue online and I found out that my issue is software. I want to know if and when apple will fix this issue?
I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S. Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.

Can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US
Since this a Windows tablet, can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US?
I know there is a micro-sd reader for additional storage but can you use the usb for external hard drives like a regular pc?
I tried looking at the spec's for this tablet and it said the usb port was host only. I'm not sure what that means exactly.Yes you can. You'll need to purchase a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable. I recommend using a drive that has its own power supply but I've successfully used small USB powered drives also.

I can't use my Philips monitor with Mac mini
I can't use my Philips monitor with Mac mini, I am using a HDMI to VGA cable to connect them. But no signal on my Philips monitor.
My Mac mini is in a good condition, it can connect with my HDTV, the BENQ monitor at my office, but I can't make it connect with my Philips monitor.
I dun know what happen.
Please help!
Thanks! The two are incompatible, HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is an analog signal. You need a monitor with a HDMI port or a DVI-I port, these are both digital signals. DVI-I gives the best output.

How to use Special value set with Column clause to display addtional column
hi
can anyone tell me
How to use Special value set with Column clause to display addtional column
how can i use FND POPID and with COLUMN clause ?Dear Yaseen,
To get the value in formula cumulative, after you have created the formula for that particular key figure,go to edit and click on tab "calculations".
In that select overall result as 'count all values not equal to zero' and single result as 'count all values not equal to zero' .
And mark the cumulative check box underneath.
I hope you get the desired result and please do me favour .

How can i use external hard drive with mac and pc!
I've been using a Lacie external hard drive with my mac to keep the itunes library and other things since day one. Since i have a dvd with files for windows and an old pc without a dvd drive, i decided to copy and paste the content of the dvd to the external hard drive. The only problem now is that when i plug the external hard drive to pc, it won't open. I know it has to be formatted in a different way, but i need to find out the best solution!
Any idea? You can format the external drive in Fat32 (which I don't recommend but is the most compatible between both platforms), or NTFS (which requires some work to get your Mac to recognize), or HFS+ (which requires special software on your PC so your PC can use it).
If you use this drive mostly with your Mac, get MacDrive for your PC:

If you use this drive mostly with your PC, here's some software for you Mac. I haven't tried this myself, but the professional reviews have been good:

External Video Monitor with iMac possible.
Dear friends,
recently i have bought one imac 21.5" mid 2010 model. i am a film maker. i make TVC s, corporate docu, docu and short films. previously i worked hiring differnt post production studios but with growing volume of work i there was need for a personal edit setup. i have FC Studio 7 installed in my imav. i wanted to connect one external video monitor to facilitate the edit work flow. 1st i bought and connected a mini dp to vga adaptor and connected my 6 series samsung lcd tv with it. but the result was not satisfactory. now the lcd tv have become the second monitor and the system was working as dual monitor system. i wanted 1 video monitor as we get in pro studios. then i bought 1 mini dp to HDMI adapotor and connected it with the lcd tv throgh HDMI cable. fantastic. system took it automatically. Now i opened FCP, set a/v display to full screen, audio out to HDMI then view>external video>full frame. and u are through. now yuo can see the time line output in the LCD tv with sync audio. cheers. any better way to calibrate the second monitor? Thanks a lot for your help.
If i consider an old model, maybe one with a DisplayPort input (late 2009 or mid 2010 iMac), is there a chance to connect the card with the DP input with a simple cable, or to verify the compatibility? The card has a DP output but many articles say that screen flickering or blue screen is the result...

Using B&W monitor with Beige G3
I would like to use a B&W monitor with the older Beige G3 computer. I know I would need an adapter but what kind and where can I get one? I see adapters at the Apple website but have no idea which one I should use.
Also, how can I use a USB Hub with it? Can I hook up the internet etc on the Beige G3? Right now I think, if I remember right, it still has 8.6 on it, but I'll probably want to up grade the system.
ThanksHello Susan,
As the MacHead says, adapters may be found on eBay without too much trouble - try to find one with a good picture, as there are several varieties (for converting both directions) - but you're really better off with a good graphics card. My favourite is the 32MB Radeon Mac (not 7000) PCI version (not AGP); they pop up every week or two on eBay and run about $25.
As to USB, beware the USB gremlins! If you simply buy a USB card and plug it in, it doesn't work. In order for the Mac Operating System to "see" the USB card, you have to reinstall the Operating System from a retail, full install OS CD with the USB card already in place. If you're thinking of upgrading to OS9, now is the time to do it; just get that full install orange-nine-on-a-white-background OS9 CD, remember to plug the USB card in first, install OS9 and you're all set. It will work as if it came that way. I like the Orange Micro combination USB/firewire card (eBay again), but Keyspan, Macally, SIIG, Belkin, generic, have all worked for me.
I haven't tried a USB hub on the beige G3 - I've just reached behind it - but I can't see that it wouldn't work.
applerescue.com used to be a good source for OS9 CDs, but it's site seems to be unresponsive; eBay is not a good source for OS9 CDs, since there are a lot of people trying to sell you grey labels, burned copies, true copies, copies that ought to work (but don't), &c.,&c. If you need, I'm sure someone here has another good source.
OS9 - or 8.6 - should work just fine on the internet, although sometimes your ISP will not be familiar with it and try to tell you it can't be done. That's because they haven't run their standardised tests on OS9, and don't feel they can guarantee it (or because their installer has never seen it before). Insist.
A router is a handy accessory at this point for security and spam avoidance; if your ISP doesn't supply one, get it yourself.
Anyhow, hope that helps, and good luck!
Jon

p.s. update: yes, the video card will have a different plug sticking out the back - a "VGA" plug instead of a "DB15" - three rows of (fewer) little holes instead of two.

Using external Pro Speakers with MacBook...?
Is there a jack-pluc adapter af any sort that can enable me to use my 'Pro Speakers' with my MacBook?
Any advice would be very much appreciated. These jacks are also common with mobile phones and dont cost more than a few dollars. A quick search on ebay shows
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=2.5mmto+3.5mm+HeadphoneAdapter
I have no affiliation with eBay or anything like that. But at least it gives you an idea of what they look like. I have a few of these for my various mobile phones. -

So assuming that you have not read the documentation (which you really should):
- You need to create a separate directory on the NFS where both systems have access
- you need to configure the export machine as "server" (read the docs!)
- you need to configure the exchange directory on both export and import migmon

Starting and stopping timer using external inputs interfaced with labview
hello,
I have trouble finding how to start and stop the timer using external voltage or current pulse. we are interfacing a circuit to labview. so for that we need to count the time it takes between the two external voltages. We have to keep on comparing the voltages to some reference voltage. And when the external voltage crosses the reference voltage we have to start the timer and again we have to stop the timer using tha same logic. We need it for time calculation between the triggers.
hope you can help.https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-23334 is agood example to start. You need to modify it to include stop trigger.

I would like to use a LED monitor with my macbook.
I have a 2009 13' macbook and just bought a LED LG monitor. What cable can I use to connect it to my computer. The LED came with a 15pin male cable on both ends.
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
2009 MacBooks used two different types of adapters to connect with external monitors. A Mini-DVI or a Mini DisplayPort.
